McGary
Jessie Handy McGary died June 7, 2005 of complications after an amputation surgery at Medical Center of Plano in Plano, Texas . She was 55.

Ms. McGary was born in New Orleans and lived in Wylie, Texas , for the past five months. She graduated from McDonogh No. 35 High School and Southern University at New Orleans with a degree in education. She was a former special education teacher at Capdau and Samuel J. Peters middle schools, a former employee of Answer Phone Systems and former house director for Anioma Community Home, and a special education teacher at Carver Middle School. She was a member of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church, where she was the director of the Christian education department, the former church secretary and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include a daughter, Shanel Mitchell; her mother, Alfrieda Billy; four sisters, Yvonne Repps, Deborah Moore, Glynthis Preston and Adrian White ; and three grandchildren.

A funeral was held June 6. Burial in Providence Park Cemetery. D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mire
Edward Joseph Mire, Jr. died June 18, 2005. He was 77.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara Burguieres Mire and a brother, Herman Mire.

He is survived by one son, Jules Edward Mire and companion, Earl Barron, Jr.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Nannette and Gary Bergeron, Catherine and Jerry Davis, Polly and Wayne Pepitone, and Marcie and Roger Stromeyer; two brothers, Harold and Gerald Mire, one sister, Lorraine McCloud; nine grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on June 20. Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.

Morris
Ethel B. Morris died June 14, 2005 of lung cancer at her home. She was 88.

Mrs. Morris was a lifelong resident of Norco. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church No. 2 in Montz.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Morris; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral was held June 23. Burial in Montz Memorial Cemetery.

Motto
Thomas Emile Motto Jr. died June 10, 2005 of complications from a brain tumor at his home. He was 62.

Mr. Motto was born in New Orleans, lived in Harahan for 45 years and lived in St. Rose for the past 15 years. He was a retired Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff's Office deputy.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Jeandron Motto; two sons, Thomas Nicholas and Gregory Francis Motto; his mother, Genevieve Usner Motto; and two grandchildren.

A funeral was held on June 16. Burial in Cypress Grove Cemetery.

Paul
August Paul Sr. died June 5, 2005 of an allergic reaction to a bee sting at St. Charles Hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Paul was born in St. Rose and lived in Des Allemands. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 27 years, but had to retire due to health issues.

He is preceded in death by his father, Oliver Paul; his mother, Ellen Gaines-Paul; and his brother, Oliver Paul, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Williams-Paul; two sons, August Paul Jr. and Derrick Paul; two daughters, Tania Joseph and Yvette Roberts; one daughter-in-law, Dana Paul; one acquired sister, Barbara Eugene; two sons-in-law, Valentino Joseph, Sr. and Paul Roberts; two brothers, Lawrence Paul of St. Rose and Roland Paul of Hahnville; two sisters, Theresa Styles of Hammond and Augustine Griffin of Boutte; eight brothers-in-law, Alex Griffin Sr., Raymond Wms, Michael Wms, Charles Temple, Savior Cannon, Charles White , Sr., Bruce White , Sr., Pelton Hills, and Ernest Williams, Jr.; 10 sisters-in-law, Hazel Paul and Blondie Paul, Betty Murray, Audrey Cannon, Bernice White , Mary White , Janice Singleton, Lorraine Temple, Wendy Williams, and Bertha Hills; one uncle, Rev. Morris Paul of St. Rose, 14 grandchildren, Shaloa Nickson, Reshan Joseph, Brittany Paul, Valentino Joseph, Jr., Delisha Paul, August Paul III, Jacob Roberts, Chayla Joseph, Austin Paul, Timothy Roberts, Jeremiah Smith, Jordan Roberts, Aliaha Smith, Kaliaha Smith; one acquired grandson, Ricky Davis; seven god-children, Stephanie Williams, Bruce White , Jr., Renard Murray, James Moliere, Jr., Rose Marie Chapman, Dawayne Bolden, Brenda Hills, and Melanie Wilson, and a host of many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A funeral was held June 11 at Antioch Baptist Church in Des Allemands. Burial in Shell Mound Cemetery. Robottom Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Pollet
Lucrecia Marie Montz Pollet died June 22, 2005 in North Carolina. She was 98.

She was a former resident of Destrehan, and lived in Lewisville, NC for the last four years. She was born in Lions. She worked in the St. Charles Borromeo School cafeteria when it first opened. She worked there for over 11 years and retired in 1975. She was a recipient of the "Order of St. Louis Medallion" in 1987.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Joseph Albert Pollet; and her parents, Franklin and Elizabeth Cambre Montz.

She is survived by two sisters, Agnes Lousteau and Grace St. Pierre; two brothers, Guy Montz and Lester and wife Elsie Montz; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday. Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Richard
Johnnie Mae Richard, died June 2, 2005 of cancer in her home. She was 59.

Ms. Richard was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was a former employee of St. Charles General and Baptist hospitals.

Survivors include a son, Gerald Shortridge; two daughters, Tina Day and Krystal Richard; three brothers, Eugene, Harold, and Johnny Washington , Jr.; a sister, Anna Mick; and two grandchildren.

A funeral was held June 3. Burial in Resthaven Cemetery.

Riley
Herman “Henry” Riley, Sr. died at the Luling Living Center on June 12, 2005. He was 68.

He was a native of Whitecastle and a resident of Des Allemands for the past 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Iona B. and Joseph Riley, Sr.; a son, Rev. Graylin Thomas; and three siblings, Ethel Lee Mitchell, Emile Albert, and Elizabeth Riley.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Jones Riley; three sons, Michael, Darryl, and Herman G. Riley; two daughters, Linda and Ruby Riley; three stepchildren, Paul, Wendell, and Carlen Jones; two foster children, Clement Tatney and Donna Tatney Joseph; nine siblings, Alvin, Pearl R. Davis,Rev. Joseph, Iona R. Snaril, James, Johnny, Mildred, Prophetess Sarah R. Williams, and Louis Riley; a devoted niece, Callise Phillips; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A funeral was held on June 18. Burial in Shell Mound Cemetery.

Rousseve
Ramos Joseph Rousseve, Jr. “Jap” died June 17, 2005 at Canon Hospice in Jefferson . He was 80.

He was a native and resident of Lucy. He was a marine veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurelia Mathieu and Ramos Joseph Rousseve, Sr.; one child, Danya Rousseve; one brother, Theodore Rousseve; and one sister, Joyce Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Rousseve; six children, Sharazana Dinvaut, Marcelette Jackson , Charmaine Rousseve, Shawn Bacas, Ediie, and Mark Rousseve; three sisters, Aurelia Haines, Myrna LeGaux, and Florence Chevalier; 19 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on June 21. Burial in St. John the Baptist Memorial in Edgard. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Association or Canon Hospice of Jefferson .
