Sandel
Richard "Wayne" Sandel died on June 10, 2005 of cancer at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. He was 73.

Mr. Sandel was born in Lamesa, Texas , and lived in Harvey for 14 years and in Diamondhead, Miss., for the past 15 years. He was a retired sales manager with Borden Dairy and founder and owner of United Mail Services in Harahan. He retired from Borden Dairy after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Diamondhead Golf Club. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Polk Sandel; a son, Stephen Wayne Sandel of Luling; two sisters, Sue Adams of Tulia, Texas , and Inis Greaves of Lamesa; and a grandson. A funeral was held on June 15. Burial in Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.

Smith
Robert Adam Smith died June 23, 2005 of cancer. He was 55.

He lived in Norco and was a retired volunteer firefighter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Belmont and Marie Cunningham Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Mayeux Smith; his children, Brandon and Christina Smith, Michelle Smith Bellinger, and Marie Smith Flannery; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Joshua Flannery; two sons-in-law, Michael Bellinger and David Flannery; four siblings, Cheryl Hoeft, Morton Smith, Thomas Smith, and Deborah O'Neal; and eight siblings-in-law, Dianne and Dwayne Mayeux, Dana and Jerry Keller, Fred O'Neal, Danny Hoeft, Nancy Smith, and Dolly Smith.

A funeral was held Monday. Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Mausoleum.

Sweeney
James "Doc" Sweeney Jr., died June 4, 2005 of lung cancer at his home. He was 81.

Mr. Sweeney was born in Charleston, W.Va., and lived in Des Allemands for the past 29 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a medic.

He is preceded in death by his parents James Sweeny, Sr. and Cleo June Warbutton Sweeny. Survivors include his wife, Lupe Sweeney; two sons, James Leslie Sweeney and wife Peggy of Simpsonville, SC and Burl Thomas Sweeney of Dallas; four daughters, Brenda Kay Hoffmanand husband David of Clendenin, WV, Monica Liza Gonzalez and husband Pitin of Queens, NY, Martha Laura McHenry and husband Carroll of Dallas and June Sweeney Brawley; a sister, Genevieve Johnson on Clendenin, WV; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held on June 7. Burial in Restlawn Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc. of Raceland.

Trepagnier
Marilyn Colon Trepagnier died June 27, 2005 in Norco. She was 71.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Mitchel J. Trepagnier; her mother, Aurelia Colon; two sons, Chris Michael and John Mitchel Trepagnier; a daughter, Andree Trepagnier Weber; a brother, Percy J. Colon, Jr.; two sisters, Harriet Clark and Pamela King; and a grandson, Tristan Nicholas Trepagnier.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred or memorials may be made to Volunteers of America.

Walker
Lynwood James "Chill" Walker died of a heart attack June 29, 2005 at St. Charles Parish Hospital. He was 55.

Mr. Walker was a native of Edgard and a resident of Hahnville. He was a graduate of Second Ward High School in Edgard and Southern University in Baton Rouge. He had worked for Union Carbide for more than 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Toney Walker; a son, Lynwood Walker Jr.; two daughters, Monique Walker and Kimberly Plowden; two brothers, Nathaniel and Grant Walker; and three sisters, Margo Lumar, Avis Alexander and Demetre Bailey

A funeral was held July 5. Burial in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Edgard.

Walsh
Grant Joseph Walsh died on June 11, 2005 at East Jefferson Hospital. He was 81.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Clement Walsh; a son, Grant “Peppy: Walsh; a daughter, Jeanie Burns; brother, Lester Walsh; sister, Gracie Rivault; and five grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca, and Renee Walsh, Ashley Connolly, and Allison Burns.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on June 14. Entombment in St.Charles Borromeo Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home of Norco was in charge of arrangements.

Alexander
Perkin "Pop" Alexander died July 7, 2005 at his home. He was 95.

Mr. Alexander was a lifelong resident of Edgard.

Survivors include three sons, Irvin, Andrew, and Milton Alexander; five daughters, Lucille Brown, Darnell Jackson , Gloria Jackson of Marrero, Carolyn Wallace of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Debra Cummings of Gonzales; a brother, Morris Alexander of New Orleans; a sister, Eloise Fiffie of Vacherie; 42 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass was said Tuesday. Burial in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church’s cemetery.

Alexander
Tommy E. Alexander died July 26, 2005 of a heart attack at St. Charles Hospital. He was 43.

Mr. Alexander was born in New Orleans and lived in Boutte.

Survivors include his wife, Doristine Alexander; two sons, Tommy Alexander Jr. and Tommy Hunter; two daughters, Tomeleta and Carmeleta Alexander; a stepdaughter, Natasha Robertson; his mother, Leona Louise Hall Griffin; two brothers, Eddie Eugene Hills and Larry Alexander; two sisters, Theresa Revader and Bobbie Jean Brown; and two grandchildren.

A funeral was held Saturday. Burial in Mount Airy Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bariani
Calvin P. Bariani Sr. died on July 27, 2005 at Canon Hospice. He was 80.

Mr. Bariani was born in New Orleans and lived in Destrehan for the past 20 years. He graduated from Delgado Community College. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the United Food Commercial Workers Union. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lehr Bariani; a son, Calvin P. Bariani Jr.; a daughter, Deborah Bariani Hidalgo; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A funeral was held on Aug. 1 at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home.

Baudoin
Alvina Comardelle Breaux Baudouin died July 18, 2005. She was 83.

Ms. Baudouin was a native of Bayou Gauche and a resident of Boutte.

She is preceded in death by her husband from her first marriage, Irby Breaux; her husband from her second marriage, Edwin Baudouin; her parents, Albert and Anna Dufrene Comardelle; one daughter, Norma Breaux; three brothers, Hyman, Expo, and Simon Comardelle; and three sisters, Zoe Dufrene, Lovinia Frickey, and Alverta Dufrene.

She is survived by three sons, Herbert J., Marion M., and Marty J. Breaux; three daughters, Malinda B. Rodrigue, Marion M., and Arlene Ann Breaux; one brother, Raymond Comardelle; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

A religious service was held July 21. Burial in Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche.
