BERTHELOT
MARRERO - Mathilda Zeringue Berthelot, 92, a native of St. James Parish and resident of Waggaman, died Feb. 25, 2000. She was the wife of the late Wilfred Andrew Berthelot Jr. and mother of Mabel Hernandez and William Berthelot. She was also the daughter of the late Alfred and Athanasie Troxclair Zeringue and sister of Lydie Champagne, Ella Whitney, Annette and Henry Zeringue and the late Amelia Whitney, Thelma Vicknair and Lucy and John Zeringue.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 28 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Waggaman.

BROU
HAHNVILLE - Edward Douglas "Ned" Brou, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Denver, Colo., died Feb. 25, 2000. He was the husband of Irma Vial Brou and father of Melissa Weill and Julie, Amanda, Edward Jr., Christopher, Robert and Derek Brou.

He was also the son of the late Felicien and Helene Fontain Brou and brother of Sister Marguerite Brou, Sister Jane Frances Brou, Cecile Mongrue, Jeanne Caillet, Francis Brou and the late Marie LaDow and Maurice Brou.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 29 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville.

PAYNE
LAPLACE - Julius A. Payne, 81, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for 16 years, died Feb. 25, 2000. He was the husband of Garnet "B" Payne, father of Sara Messer, Timmie Jackson and John and Hunter Payne and step-father of Peggy Jones, Josette Malain and Michael and Todd Bourgeois.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were held Feb. 28 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie.

SWANSON
KENNER - Althea Madere Swanson, 56, a native of Reserve and resident of Slidell for two years, died Feb. 24, 2000. She was the mother of Vincent and Thomas Swanson.

She was also the daughter of Berrenise Vicknair Madere and the late Lester Madere and sister of Jo Ann Hainey and Lester, Ralph and the late Jackie Madere.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 28 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

TAYLOR
RIVER RIDGE - Johnny Taylor , 51, a native of Gramercy and resident of Kenner for 15 years, died Feb. 21, 2000. He was the husband of Patricia Carter, father of Demerick and Emmanuell Carter and step-father of Oranetta Chaney, Vanessa James and John, Alvin, Delan and Chico Carter.

He was also the son of Albertha Taylor and the late Arthur Taylor and brother of Joann Perrilloux and Cheryl, Ronald, Lionel, Stanley, Curtis and Arthur Taylor Jr.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Cypress Grove High School in Lutcher and former president of Men of Distinction Social and Pleasure Club.

Services were held Feb. 28 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.

BONCK
GRAMERCY - Nicky Earl Bonck, 56, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., and resident of Gramercy, died Aug. 8, 2000. He was the former husband of Sharon Bonck and father of Nick and Kenny Bonck. He was also the fiancé of Betty Anthony.

He was also the son of Norman and the late Faye Graham Bonck and brother of Sherry Condit, Patricia Gardenhire, Donna Peyton and Dawn, Donald, Brent, Allen and the late Barry Bonck.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services are today at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gramercy. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

BORNE
EDGARD - Bernice Dorothy Borne, 78, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans for 14 years, died Aug. 6, 2000. She was the wife of Joseph Borne Sr. and mother of Eleene Scott, Berlyn Scott, Sandra Davis, Laverne Gambrell, Cheryl Lepree, Vanessa Rayford, Jacqueline Washington and Rachel, Loretta, Joseph Jr., Talbert, Bradley, David, Gregory, Randall and the late Paul Borne. She was also the daughter of the late Roscoe and Mathilda Pierre and sister of Corine Burrell, Lois Sterling, Olga Borne and Raymond, Leon and the late Lloyd, Louis, Rollin and Roscoe Pierre Jr.

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

DORSEY
NEW ORLEANS - Amos Dorsey Jr., 78, a native of Norco and resident of New Orleans for 50 years, died Aug. 4, 2000. He was the husband of the late Estelle Brown Pollard Dorsey, father of Betty Wilson, Belinda Coleman, Veronica, Samuel and Terrace Pollard, Amos III, Eli, James, Willie and Lorenza Dorsey and stepfather of Josephine Faulk and Barbara Brumfield.

He was also the brother of Marly Fleming.

He is also survived by 55 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Restlawn Park, Avondale. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.

JONES ST. JAMES - Jacquelyn Jones, 45, a native and resident of St. James, died Aug. 6. She was the daughter of Dolores Macklin Jones and the late Herbert Jones Sr. and sister of Yolanda Picou, Charlene Dumas, Audrey Temple and Gwendolyn, Wanda, Rodney, Jacobie, Herbert Jr. and Gregory Jones. Services were Aug. 11 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

LEBOEUF
NEW ORLEANS - Edna M. LeBeouf, 84, a native of Welcome and resident of Washington D.C., New Orleans and Harvey, died Aug. 5, 2000. She was the mother of Mamie Gordon.

She was also the sister of Lucille Anderson.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were Aug. 11 in the chapel of Estelle J. Wilson Mortuary, New Orleans.

LESTRICK
LAPLACE - Wendall "Booga" Lestrick Jr., 10, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 8, 2000. He was the son of Wendell and Mildred Lestrick and brother of Tenisha, Tysheka, Rachelle, Tamekia and Lance Lestrick, Lekeria Francis and Kendall Washington .

He was also the grandson of Alfred Kelson and the late Irma Lestrick and Emeldia Williams.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Wine Christian Fellowship, LaPlace, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

SMITH
NEW SARPY - Dorothy J. Smith, 74, a resident of New Sarpy, died Aug. 6, 2000. She was the wife of James M. Smith and mother of Barbara Rilleux, Gregory Russell, Sylvia Matthews, Milton King, Taft, Pierre, Jamaine and Dante Smith and the late Delinda Murray, Gigi Smith and James, Ronald and Darryl Russell.

She was also the daughter of Mary Fisher Henderson and the late Edward Johnson and sister of Irma Crawford, Rachel Gardner, Edward Johnson and the late Sherman Johnson .

She is also survived by 41 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 11 at House of Prayer Baptist Church, with interment at New Sarpy Cemetery.
