Mary Beth Williams Martin

Mary Beth Williams Martin, 64, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at her home in Independence. She was born October 6, 1945 in Franklinton, LA, daughter of the late Marion and Sarah Cecile Horton Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry D. Martin, Sr.; 4 children, Cheryl Martin, Connie Martin, Jerry D. Martin, Jr., and Mark Martin; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 6 siblings, Linda Stogner, Beverly Williams, Randall Williams, Runell McAlister, Teresa Prine, and Stephen Williams.

A Memorial Service will be held at Zion New Beginning Church, 32208 Hwy. 43 North of Albany, LA on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.

John Henry "Buggy" McGehee, Jr.

The town of Kentwood will be saddened by the death of John Henry "Buggy" McGehee, Jr. He was a lifetime resident of Kentwood for his 77 years, except for the short time he spent with his sister in Orange, Texas following the death of his father.

He is survived by his two sisters and one brother-in-law, Carolyn McGehee McKinney, and A. W. & Sandy McGehee Reed. He is also survived by three nephews and two nieces, and their spouses: Ken & Kasey Roberts, Brent & Tara Reed, and Kyle & Amy McKinney, Cyndi Reed & Eddie Miller, and Mimi McKinney Rester. He is also survived by eight great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, John Henry & Norma Toche McGehee, Sr., and by his mother, Vivian Porter Miller, as well as one nephew, Russell Roberts. He was also preceded in death by numerous McGehee Toche, and Porter aunts and uncles.

A member of First Baptist Church, he was well known about town; if ever told a birthday, he never forgot it. In his younger days, he was often seen working in the Kentwood Pool Hall. He quite often frequented many local businesses and ran errands for them.

He was a resident of Kentwood Manor Nursing Home for 21 years. He will be missed by family and friends.

Visitation from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, December 28th, 2009 at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, LA. Funeral service followed immediately at 2 p.m. Monday. interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA, immediately following graveside rites.

Pallbearers will be Ken Roberts, Brent Reed, Eddie Miller, Kyle McKinney, George Poole, Phil Connely, Preston Roberts, and Kohl Rester.

Larry Dale Nickens

Mr. Larry Dale Nickens, 47, a carpenter, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his home in Tickfaw. He was a native of Natalbany.

Survivors include his mother, Margie Nickens; his sisters and their spouses, JoAnne N. and Thomas Addison, and Priscilla and John Curtis; a niece, Ashley Traylor; a nephew, Joseph Locicero.

His wife, Vicki Locicero Nickens, and his father, Millard J. Nickens Jr., preceded him in death.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Harry McKneely & Son, Hammond, and 8 -10 a.m.Tuesday. Dr. Rodney Taylor will conduct the funeral at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial in Jerusalem Baptist Cemetery, Pumpkin Center.

Donations may be made to North Oaks Hospice.

Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home of Hammond is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Levatino Rispone

Died at 6:19 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond, LA.

She was a resident of Amite. Age 87 years.

She was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Frances Rispone Jones and husband, Johnny Jones, Amite and Theresa Rispone Forrest and husband, Ricky Forrest; 4 grandchildren, Jeff Jones and wife, Tammy Jones, Amite, Mark Jones, Amite, Kim Harper Parent and husband, David Parent, Hammond, and Gwen Harper Pedelahore and husband, Kenny Pedelahore, Livingston; 8 great-grandchildren, J.J. Jones, Christine and Mikki Jones, Kaden, Keegan and Kamden Pedelahore and Amanda and Rebecca Parent; 4 step-grandchildren, Casy, Jamie, Blake and Ryan Forrest; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rispone; parents, Tony and Theresa Levatino; 2 brothers, John and Sam Levatino; sister, Josephine Taylor ; 2 nephews, James and Tommy Taylor .

Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 12 Noon Monday. Services conducted by Fr. Joe Camilleri. interment Mulberry Street Cemetery, Amite.

Pallbearers will be Tony and Tommy Taylor , Samuel, Joseph and Jerry Rispone and Jack Liuzza.

Edith Margaret Kuhn White

Edith Margaret Kuhn White 74 years old of Baton Rouge, Louisiana died on December 24, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center. She was born on September 30, 1935 in Bogalusa, Louisiana , daughter of the late Eton Percy and Mildred McDaniel Kuhn.

Surviving are her 2 sons and daughters-in-law Glen & Karen White and Robert & Angela White ; sister Myra Kuhn Ramsey; sister and brother-in-law Katherine Kuhn & Arthur Billings; 5 brothers and sisters-in-law; Percy & Shirley Kuhn, Thomas & Beth Kuhn, Albert & Kathryn Kuhn, Jimmy & Cheryl Kuhn and Marion Paul & Brenda Kuhn also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Kuhn and her brother-in-law Loyd Ramsey.

Friends will be received from 8:00 a.m. until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. on December 28, 2009 at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. interment will follow in the Green Oaks Cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA. Donations may be made to the Southeastern Foundation to the E.P. and Mildred Kuhn Scholarship.

Mary Milioto Lato

Mary Milioto Lato, 89 years old of Hammond, LA, died Thursday, September 24, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

Mary was born on Saturday, August 21, 1920, in Hammond.

Surviving are daughter & son-in-law, Lucille Lato Crayon and Lee Crayon; daughter, Paula Lato; son, Dwayne Lato; also survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband of 56 years, Paul Joseph Lato; daughter, Grace Lato Lamonte; parents, Vincent and Lucy Guagliardo Milioto; sisters, Antonio Nicolosi, Maggie DiPrima, Rosie Rollo, Frances Marchese, Lena Catalanotto, Mamie Rollo, Jennie Valaruto, Katie Cardinale and Josie Monistere.

Friends will be received Friday, September 25, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m., and on Saturday from 9:00a.m. until services at church.

Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana 70401.

Joseph Adam Pomisino, Jr.

Joseph Adam Pomisino, Jr. was born October 27, 1955 and Passed away at 5:41 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at University Hospital, New Orleans. He was 53, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Amite. He served our country in the US Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Ivies Faye Harper Pomisino, Amite; daughter , Novella Pomisino; 2 sons, Joseph Adam Pomisine III , Brandon J. Pomisino; 3 sisters, Annette Cecilia Soto Pomisino, Dawrine Angela Pomisino and Shawna Hope Pomisino; brother, Darryl Joseph Pomisino; grandchild, Dreamer Lucia Pomisino, and a brother-in-law, Charles R.Harper.

Preceded in death by his parents , Joe Adam Sr. and Elena Mildred Alombro Pomisino; daughter, Devina Luca Pomisino; sister, Ann Mary Pomisino Zeirhut; brother, Mitchell Anthony Pomisino

Visitation will be at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Friday , September 25, 2009 from 2:00 p. m. until Religious Services at 4:00 p. m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike Agnello officiating. .

McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, is located at I-55N & Hwy 16W behind Mr. Tom's Car Wash and Bond Eye Clinic.

Clara Fugler Holmes

Clara Fugler Holmes, age 69, Passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at her residence in Albany. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clara was a member of Springfield First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bradley C. Holmes and Victoria B. Holmes of Springfield; step-son and daughter-in-law, Joseph C. Holmes, Jr. and Laura D. Holmes of St. Francisville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Dahlman of Clinton, Lisa and Timothy Johnson of Houston TX, Stephanie and R. King Barber of Holden; six grandchildren, Jeffery Craddock, Erin Holmes, Erik Holmes, Walter Barber, Sarah Barber, Steven Dearman; three great-grandchildren, Briana, William and Ashton, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Holmes, Sr.; son, S. Glynn Dearman; grandson, Sidney Joseph Barber; mother, Margaret J. Ellison; brother, Roy Allen Fugler, Jr.; father, Roy Allen Fugler, Sr.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Mrs. Clara F. Holmes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942 or Springfield First United Methodist Church, 32165 Walnut St, Springfield LA 70462.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.

Roberto Barrera

Roberto Barrera, 33 years old of Tickfaw, died Thursday, September 24, 2009, in Hammond.

He was born on Saturday, March 6, 1976, in Tzitzio, Michoacan, Mexico.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Barrera; daughter, Martha Lauren Barrera; and 2 sons, Robert Barrera, Jr., and Justin Barrera.

Friends will be received Sunday, September 27, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

interment will be at a later date in Tzitzio, Michoacan, Mexico.

Susan Duffy Hano

Age 61 and a longtime resident of Holden, Susan Passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her residence. She enjoyed spending time with her family, making crafts, decorating and going to garage sales.

Susan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Leroy Hano; daughters, Sheila Medina, Wanda Hano, DeShea Rhodus and husband Robert, Cindy Dufrene; sons, Wesley Paul Hano and Jonathon Hano, along with fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Marvin and Lamar Duffy; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Susan in death were her son, Leroy Kyle Hano; parents, Louis and Hughline McDonald Duffy; brothers, Ronnie and Carrol Duffy.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from Bethel Baptist Church in Livingston, on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the church on Monday, September 28th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday beginning at 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service time. Rev. Paul Nugent assisted by Rev. Jimmy Sasser will officiate the services and interment will follow in Duffy Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Douglas, Cody Douglas, Corey Mayers, Sergio Medina, Juan M. Medina, Thomas Rhodus, Andrew Hano, along with honorary pallbearers, Jerad Benoit, Daniel Rhoedts, Robert Rhodus, Juan Medina, B.J. McDonald, Lamar Duffy, Marvin Duffy, Bryce Dufrene and Cayleb Yent.
