VICKNAIR
LAPLACE - Dorothy L. Vicknair, 83, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 10, 2000. She was the wife of the late Jeffrey Vicknair and mother of Janet Perilloux and Brent, Ricky and the late Jeffrey Vicknair Jr.

She was also the sister of Myrtle Laiche, Mildren Grisoli, Murphy and Roland LaBranche and the late Ethel Landeche and Louis LaBranche Jr.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

KIPPES
LAPLACE - Claude Ray Kippes, 76, a native of Mississippi and resident of LaPlace for 10 years, died Aug. 6, 2000. He was the husband of the late Emmie Kippes and father of Keith and Kerry Kippes.

He was also the brother of Lorraine Davis.

He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

LANDRY
RACELAND - Leonard Louis Landry, 70, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Luling, died Aug. 6, 2000. He was the husband of Roberta Savoie Landry and father of Lydia Dempster and Laurel, Darrel, Don, Dirk and Doyle Landry.

He was also the son of the late Edmond and Jeanne Aucoin Landry and brother of Vivian Lirette, Mrs. Merlin Baudoin and Lawrence and the late Clifton Landry.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 8 at First Baptist Church, Raceland, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.

TARULLO
DESTREHAN - Edith Matherne Tarullo, 73, a native of Good Hope and resident of New Sarpy for 35 years, died Aug. 7, 2000. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Tarullo, former wife of Camille Trosclair and mother of Frances "Frankie" (DeLaneuville/Roussel) and Jules, Frederick and the late Darryl Tarullo.

She was also the daughter of the late Jules and Idee Granier Matherne and sister of Anna Verret, Sidney Matherne and the late Mildred Martin and Lawrence Matherne.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8:45 a.m.

CAU
METAIRIE - The Rev. Leon A. Cau, 80, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace, died Sept. 29, 2000. He was the son of the late Fernand and Rita Mader Cau and brother of Carmen O'Conner and the late F. Eugene Cau and Alice Negrotto.

He was a retired priest of the New Orleans Archdiocese and served at Sacred Heart in Morgan City, St. Christopher in Metairie, St. Joseph in Baton Rouge and Our Lady Star of the Sea, St. Peter and St. Paul and St. Ann's in New Orleans.

Services were Oct. 2 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Metairie, with interment at Metairie Cemetery.

FRENCH
GARYVILLE - James "Bop" French Jr., 75, a native of LaPlace and resident ofNew Orleans, died Sept. 27, 2000. He was the former husband of Lula Smith French Hayes, father of Abdullah Muhammad (James D. French) and Lois Swaney and stepfather of Latoshia Hayes.

He was also the son of James French Sr. and stepson of Amy French.He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 3 in the chapel of Hobson-Brown Funeral Home, Garyville, with interment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace.

McGILL
HAHNVILLE - Homer Lee McGill, 43, a resident of St. Charles Parish, died Sept. 28, 2000. He was the husband of Dorothy Gleen McGill and father of Chris Morgan, Tangela, Janice and Homer McGill Jr. and stepfather of LaShanda Ridley and Lonnie, Lori and Luther Gleen.

He was also the son of the late Leotha and Mary Soucier McGill and brother of Dorothy Paige, Brenda Hayes, Janet Lewis, Leola Alterberry and Mary Ann, Margaret, Julia and Leotha McGill Jr.

He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Robottom Mortuary, Hahnville, with interment at Mt. Airy Baptist Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 9a.m.

SIMON
RESERVE - Gordon R. Simon, 60, a native and resident of Reserve, died Sept. 30, 2000. He was the husband of Sandra Sardegna Simon and father of Todd Simon. He was also the son of the late Henry and Evelyn Simon and brother of Richard and the late Philip Simon.

Services were Oct. 2 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery.

SMITH
VACHERIE - Mary Joseph Smith, 62, a native and resident of St. James, died Sept. 27, 2000. She was the mother of Lucinda Morris, Wanda Sharper, Tracy Williams and Thealeaisha, Herman III and Kevin Smith.

She was also the daughter of the late Oscar and Samelia Poche Joseph and sister of Beatrice Sutherland, Samelia Ross, Emily George and Wilbert, Oscar and the late Lucille, Betty Mae, Clarence and Fredrick Joseph.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 2 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at Mt. Calvary Baptist Cemetery, St. James.

VICKNAIR
LAPLACE - Alvin "Vino" Vicknair, 65, a native and resident of Reserve, died Oct. 1, 2000. He was the father of Mamie Stein, Shirley Rodrigue, Alvin Vicknair Jr. and the late Paul Vicknair.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are today at 10 a.m. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

CORTEZ
LAPLACE - Lovinia Rome Cortez, 88, a native of Kraemer and resident of LaPlace for 43 years, died Sept. 25, 2000. She was the mother of Vernice Blanks, Mary Chadwick and Paul Jr., Calvin, Clarence, Maurice, Richard and Gilbert Cortez.

She was also the sister of Emily Kraemer.

She is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 27 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens.

FABRE
DESTREHAN - Lois Schexnaydre Fabre, 74, a native of New Sarpy and resident of St. Rose for eight years, died Sept. 26, 2000. She was the former wife of Emile J. Fabre and the late Edmond J. Troxclair Sr. and mother of Lois Adams-Spiehler and Edmond Troxclair Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Timothy and Lena Schexnaydre and sister of Joy Millet, Russell Schexnaydre and the late Lola LaBorde and Neal Schexnaydre.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 28 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
