David Wayne Johnson , Jr.

David Wayne Johnson , Jr., was born July 9, 1970 and Passed away at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2009 at his residence. He was 39, a native of Gainsville, GA and a resident of Bayou Pigeon and formerly of Ponchatoula. Mr. Johnson was an Operations Manager for Aquilex / Hydrochem.

Survived by his wife, Becky Foster Johnson , Ponchatoula; a son, Cody Johnson , Ponchatoula; former wife, Melissa Cutrer, Hammond; 2 daughters, Christian Johnson and fianc/', Blake Nobles, Ponchatoula and Kimberly Johnson , Ponchatoula; father, David W. Johnson , Sr., Bayou Pigeon; mother, Jimmie Lou Carney, Gainsville, GA; 2 sisters, Denise Cagle and Tracy Turpin both of Gainsville, GA; a brother, Robert Carney, Jr., Gainsville, GA; step-father, Bill Spangler, Iowa and mother-in-law, Linda Jerrell, Hammond.

Preceded in death by a brother, Marty Johnson , nephew, Levi Carney and his grandfather, William Mark Johnson .

Visitation will be at the McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Sunday July 26, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, July 27, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. until Religious Services in the funeral home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lorena Wilson officiating.

interment in the Briar Patch Cemetery, Loranger.

Jon Alan Bass

Age 53, a native of Orange, Texas and resident of Springfield, Jon Passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009 due to an automobile accident. He was co-owner of Mainstreet Autoplex in Ponchatoula. Jon will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend along with being an excellent jambalaya cook and passionate LSU fan.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Wall Bass; two sons, Jon Bass II and wife Laura, Mark Bass and wife Wendi; mother, M. Virginia Bass; step-daughter, April McIntyre and husband Jay; step-son, Jeremy Kluka and wife Melanie; five precious grandchildren, Jessica Hatcher, Evan Bass, Gabe Kluka, Jennings Kluka and Annelise McIntyre. Jon is also survived by his thirteen siblings, Frances Moody, Tom A. Bass, Janet Maumus, Barbara VanVrancken, Belinda Schoeffler, Mary Burleigh, Veronica Lemoine, Judith Niland, Desiree Peebles, Kip Bass, Sabrina Lonadier, Stasi Ogier and Tyrone Bass along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family member and friends.

Preceding Jon in death were his father, James E. Bass and brother, James E. Bass, Jr.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Very Rev. Randy M. Cuevas, S.T.L., V.F.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Tuesday, July 28th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will resume at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Billmer Dean Albin

Billmer Dean Albin, 77, of Holden, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at his residence.

He was born March 30, 1932, in New Orleans, son of the late L.D. and Dean Brabham Albin.

Mr. Albin was a US Army veteran of the Korean conflict, and retired from the Louisiana State Capital. He enjoyed farming, and was well known for his home made spinner baits.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Vivian Stewart Albin; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Jeanell Albin, and Dereck and Dora Albin; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Wilson Teston, 2 daughters, Sharon Tallo and Karen Albin; 1 brother, David L. Albin; 3 sisters, Eula Young, Leona Rauch, and Yvonne Herrin; grandchildren, Erica and Chris Poe, Megan and Heather Tallo, Bradley Teston, Cheryl and Carlos Williams, Darnelle Albin, Jared, Joshua and Aaron Albin; 2 great-grandchildren, Haley and Hannah Williams.

He is preceded in death by 1 sister, Eunice Mancuso and an infant grandson, Brennen Teston.

Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 10 AM until the religious services at 1 PM, conducted by Rev. Carlan Sanders and Rev. Charles Reitz. interment will follow in the Old Zion Hill Cemetery.

Clinton Wayne Calcota

Clinton Wayne Calcota, born July 20, 1978 to the late Georgia Mae (Ernest) Calcota and Plas Harris Sr. in New Orleans, LA. Clinton was reared and lived in Albany, LA. Later he joined Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized on November 27, 2005 under the Leadership of Pastor Charles Hart. He was kind hearted and loving person, a loving dad, brother, uncle and just a humble person.

He leaves to cherish his memories and affectionately companion of 16 years, Sandra Rheams and their four children Clinton Calcota Jr. Quinton Calcota, Braneisha Calcota, and Braisia Calcota all of Albany, La.

He also leaves to cherish his memories to six sisters: Tanita (Spencer) Garner of Tickfaw, LA, Stacy (Willie) Hemphill, Blair Labruzza of Albany, LA; Sharon (Mark) Johnson of Hammond, LA; Brenda Anderson of Franklinton, LA and Esperanza Harris of California. Eleven brothers: Jerome (Yolanda) Calcota, Clifton Calcota, Plas Harris and Andrew Harris of Albany, LA; Darrren (Deborah) Harris, Terrell (Shena) Harris, Emanuel (Fannie) Harris of California; Clarence Harris, Jerry (Elanora) Harris of Springfield, LA and Theodore (Mildred) Harris of Denham Springs, LA and Blake Labruzza. Two Aunt of Albany, La Annie Bell Gross and Lillie Gross and a host of nieces, nephew, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Georgia Mae (Ernest) Calcota and Plas Harris Sr. and one sister Helen Harris and one brother Robert Harris.

Rozella W. Simpson

Rozella Waller Simpson died on July 26, 2009 at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, Louisiana , at age 92. Rozella was a long-time resident of Kilgore, Texas . She moved to Hammond in 2006 to be near her son, Rick, and his family. Family remained one of her dearest treasures second only to her love for God.

Rozella was born in Yantis, Texas , on December 2, 1916 to Homer and Essie Waller. She was the second of ten children. Therefore, she was affectionately known to her siblings as "Sis". When she was a very young child, she moved with her parents and grandparents to Heber Springs, Arkansas where they were homesteaders. They traveled by covered wagon and lived in a log cabin. Later, her family moved to Almyra, Arkansas.

She married Clio M. Simpson in DeWitt, Arkansas on November 13, 1937. They eventually moved to Kilgore in the 1940s. Mr. Simpson worked for East Texas Salt Water Company and Rozella worked for many years in food services at Eastview Elementary School. After retirement, she was a volunteer at Laird Memorial Hospital and she loved serving there. She especially enjoyed working in the gift shop at the hospital. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Kilgore and called her service there "the highlight of my life". She faithfully served in the Sanctuary Choir and was a loving second grade Sunday school teacher for 47 years. In 1980-1981, she participated in Evangelism Explosion where she learned to share her faith in Jesus Christ. She was still sharing her faith even after her move to Live Oak Village in Hammond.

Rozella is survived by her son, Rick, and daughter-in-law, Judy Simpson and by her granddaughter, Saralynn Chapman and her husband, Jacob Chapman. She is also survived by sisters Flora D. Ratcliff of Quitman, Arkansas; Mary Giles of Jefferson , Georgia; Jeanne Holt of Heber Springs, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clio M. Simpson; her parents, Homer and Essie Waller; three sisters, Frances Cagle, Lula Faye Steele, and Lois Gomez; and three brothers, Franklin D. Waller, Homer C. (Tip) Waller, and John L. Waller.

Visitation will be held at Radar Funeral Home in Kilgore on Friday, July 31st from 6 to 7:30 p.m. followed by the funeral service at the First Baptist Church of Kilgore on Saturday, August 1st at 10 a.m. Internment will take place in DeWitt, Arkansas.

Augusta Perilloux Kemp Brumfield

Mrs. Augusta Perilloux Kemp Brumfield, 80 years old of Bedico, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at her residence.

She was born on Thursday, December 6, 1928, in Ponchatoula, daughter of the late Andrew and Eunice Hoover Perilloux.

Surviving are her daughter, Iris Kemp Edwards; step-daughter, Deloris Brumfield; sons, Franklin L. Kemp Jr., Lt. Col. Jerry P. Brumfield; step-son, Ronnie E. Brumfield; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin "Newton" Kemp Sr., second husband, Wilkie Brumfield; daughter, Camille Kemp Keen; sister, Audrey S. Derks; 4 brothers, Leo Stanga, Elvin Stanga, Frank Perilloux and Andrew "Bud" Perilloux.

Friends will be received Friday, July 31, 2009, from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 31, 2009, at 1:00 pm.

interment will follow in the Stanga Cemetery in Bedico.

Raymond A. Edmisten, Jr.

Raymond A. Edmisten, Jr. Passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009. He is survived by wife Ruth Edmisten, daughters Brenda, Rita, Rhonda, Henrietta, Anita, and Wendy. Her sisters Kathy, Lynn, Deanna and brother Wayne.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at Bagnell and Sons on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 1-3 p.m. interment will be private.

James Edward "Ed" Moore

Died on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his residence in Albany, LA. He was a native of Neshoba County, MS. Age 81 years. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday and at Roseland Praise and Worship from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11a.m. Friday. Services conducted by Rev. Jerry Barber. interment Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola, LA. He is survived by wife, Barbara Johnson Moore, Albany; daughter, Alice Marie Phelps, Franklinton; brother, Clif Moore, Robert; 2 sisters, Ydell Harrison, Longview, TX and Laurene Miley, Rankin County, MS; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Jones Moore; daughter, Ynell Leonard; parents, Ollie and Leona Moore; brother, Ottress Moore.

Juan Pomares

Juan Pomares, 85 years old of Hammond, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at his home.

He was born on March 28, 1924, in Barcelona, Spain. Mr. Pomares was a WWII Veteran who served his country in combat in Italy and was wounded.

He is survived by his 4 sons & daughters-in-law, Pete Pomares & wife Dee, Johnny Pomares & wife Camellia, Jimmy Pomares & wife Audrey, and Joseph Pomares; 5 daughters & son-in-laws, Marie Ramirez & husband Bobby, Angelina "Nina" Rakocy & husband Rocky, Connie Pomares, and Jessica Pomares; 15 grandsons; 19 granddaughters; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, 1 step-daughter, Marquerite Watkins & husband, Harry; 3 stepsons, John Moore & wife Debbie, Lester Moore, and Michael Moore.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Katherine Muscarello Pomares; daughter, Antoinette Pomares Albrado; 2nd wife, Idell McMorris Pomares; and granddaughter, Annie Albrado.

Friends will be received Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 31, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.

Lawrence Thomas Bell

Lawrence Thomas Bell, 74 years old of Springfield, LA, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, in the Richard Murphy Hospice House.

He was born on Monday, June 24, 1935, in New Orleans.

Surviving are mother, Inez Bell; daughter, Sylvia Miller; son & daughter-in-law, Larry and Diane Bell; brothers, James, David and Eugene Bell; 5 sisters, Mildred McKinney, Elizabeth Hutson, Ernestine Westmoreland, Patsy Patterson and Sheila McCuspion; grandchildren, Melissa Bell, Tasha Tindol, Jeramy Bell and Brad Miller; also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by wife, Norma Trilby Bell; father, James Ripley Bell; grandson, Kevin Bell.

Friends will be received Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, from 9:00a.m. until services.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel, Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 1:00p.m.,

interment will follow in the Foster Cemetery, Killian, Louisiana 70462.

JoAnn Reeves Lawrence

JoAnn Reeves Lawrence, 60, Hammond, died July 28, 2009 at 5:40 p.m.

She is survived by daughter Kenya Lawrence Jackson (Wallace, Jr.) of Hammond.

She is preceded in death by Dorothy M. Lucien (mother), S.M. Reeves (father) James A. Reeves (brother), Joseph and Elizabeth Meyers (grandparents)

She was an educator and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Visitation will be at Greenfield Baptist Church Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, August 3, from 9-10:45 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. It will be conducted by the Rev. Jerry Hannibel.
