Gary Lee Galofaro, 48 years old of Tickfaw, Louisiana , died Monday, June 1, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center. Gary was born October 18, 1960.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Shircliff Galofaro; 1 daughter, Meghan Elizabeth Galofaro; 1 son, Gary Michael Galofaro; mother, Katie Domino Galofaro; 2 brothers, Joe Galofaro and wife, Susan; Steve Galofaro and wife, Rose.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marion "Mike" Galofaro and a sister, Rosie Galofaro Iverstine.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw from 9:00 AM until Religious Services begin at 11:00 AM.

interment will follow in the Colonial Cemetery, Tickfaw.

Dorothy Fortenberry Powell

Dorothy Powell, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Mt. Hermon, died Saturday, May 30th, surrounded by family. A loving mother and a retired registered nurse, she was born November 9, 1923 in Mt. Hermon. She married the late Carl Powell in 1947 after finishing nurses’ training at McComb City Hospital. Dot was one of ten children born to Arthur and Minnie Fortenberry.

She is survived by a son, Warren Powell of Denham Springs, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Maureen Powell of Baton Rouge, and daughter and son-in-law, Leonard and Carla Wainwright of Hammond. Also surviving are brothers Hugh and Marion Fortenberry of Mt. Hermon, sister Edna Comish of Baton Rouge, and sister-in-law Olive Appleton of Buffalo, Oklahoma .

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jamie Powell, brother James Fortenberry, sisters Eran Pocorello of Baton Rouge, Jean Newman of Greensburg, and Ginger Ford of Hammond. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3rd from 10:00 until service at 12:00, at Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard.

The family’s heartfelt thanks goes to the loving employees of The Retirement Center and Life Source Hospice of Baton Rouge.

Joyce Firmin

Age 74 and a resident of Independence, Joyce Passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner.

Surviving Joyce are her husband of 59 years, Lincoln Firmin; sons, Tim and Mike Firmin; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren along with seven siblings.

She was preceded in death by her son, Russ Firmin and a brother and sister.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond on Saturday, June 6, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Fr. H. J. Adams.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to your favorite charity.

Lois Brown Wallace Freeman

Lois Brown Wallace Freeman was born on March 2, 1934 in Brookhaven, Mississippi and Passed away at the age of 75 of June 4, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana .

She is survived by 4 daughters; Sammi Rigsby and husband, Brent of Holden,La., Judy Wallace of Ponchatoula,La., Linda Williams of Jayess, MS, Sandra Hami and husband, Fayaz of Seymour, IN; a sister, Rosemary Pittman of Chalmette, La.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Daisy; step father, Rufus James; her first husband, Samuel H. Wallace; second husband, Joe T. Freeman; 2 sisters, Doris Leggett and Joyce Burke.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula and will resume Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. until the service at 4:00 p.m. interment will follow in Sandhill Cemetery.

Gary Lee Galofaro

Gary Lee Galofaro, 48 years old of Tickfaw, Louisiana , died Sunday May 31, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center. Gary was born October 18, 1960.

JoAnn Mary Eilers Rawls Reminick

JoAnn Mary Eilers Rawls Reminick, 65 years old of Ponchatoula, Louisiana , died Friday, June 5, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center. She was born on October 6, 1943, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen H. Reminick; daughter, Becky Rawls Lamonte; daughter & son-in-law, Jenny Rawls Burrell and husband, John; son and daughter-in-law, Jason Rawls and wife, Missy; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Linda Sorak.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Theron "T.J." Rawls; parents, Vernon & Marjorie Eilers; sister, Susie Bicklehaupht.

Friends will be received Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M with Funeral Services at 7:00 P.M.

Jacqueline "Jackie" Alford

Died at 10:27PM on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. She was a native of Magnolia, MS and a resident of Kentwood, LA. Age 68 years. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Services conducted by Rev. Larry Robertson. interment Alford Cemetery, Kentwood, LA.

Survived by husband, Shelby G. Alford, Kentwood, son, Mitchell K. Alford, Baker, 2 daughters, Melissa Guagliardo and her husband, James, Ponchatoula, Frances J. Rollings, Denham Springs, 9 grandchildren, LeAnne and Danny Holmes, Tuscaloosa, AL, Lindsey Barrilleaux, Ponchatoula, Lauren and Travis Perrin, Ponchatoula, Shelye J. Guagliardo, Ponchatoula, Felicity L. Guagliardo, Ponchatoula, Dorothy A. Guagliardo, Ponchatoula, Corey J. Williams, Ponchatoula, A. J. Mitchell Alford, Bogue Chitto, MS, Joshua A. Anderson, Hammond, 4 great-grandchildren, Jordan J. Barrilleaux, Ponchatoula, Melvin J. Barrilleaux, Ponchatoula, Louis J. Perrin, Ponchatoula, Alyssa J. Alford, Bogue Chitto, MS, brother, R. E. "Dickie" McDaniel, Baton Rouge.

Preceded in death by parents, Dorothy & L. M. McDaniel, nephew, Steven McDaniel. Pallbearers will be Dickie McDaniel, John R. Butler, Travis Perrin, Joshua Anderson, Keith Rowe, Micheal McKnight, Jay Guagliardo, and Corey Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Mason, Jack Hughes, Tyler McDaniel and A. J. Alford. The family would like to thank the North Oaks nursing staff.

Carlo Joseph Costa

Carlo Joseph Costa, 85 years old of Independence, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, at his residence.

He was born on Thursday, October 4, 1923, in Independence.

Mr. Costa was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Bobbie J. Thames Costa, of Independence; 4 daughters & sons-in-law, Barbara and David St. Cyr, of Hammond, Betty and Anthony Prescia, and JoAnn and Vincent Lato, all of Independence, and Thelma and Doug Wallace, of Tickfaw; 2 sons, C. J. Costa and Charles Gill, both of Independence; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Costa Morgan, of Independence.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Piazza Costa and John Carlo Costa.

Friends were received Monday, June 8, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

The Mass of Christian Burial was held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Independence, Monday, June 8, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Paul Yi, celebrant.

Entombment followed in the Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum in Independence.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the North Oaks Hospice staff for their care and compassion during his illness.

John Henry Freeman

Born January 14, 1953, and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at his residence in Hammond, Louisiana . He was a native of Springfield, LA.

He is survived by his twin sons, Chad Freeman and wife Crystal, Brad Freeman and wife Denise, all of Folsom, one brother, Willie Freeman of Ponchatoula; three sisters, Tempie Freenam and Frances White both of Springfield, and Sandra Landry of Ponchatoula; three grandchildren, Brandie, Trevor and Brittany Freeman all of Folsom and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He is also survived by wife Judy Freeman, two stepchildren, Donnie Moore and wife Pam of Hammond, and Cindy Henderlick and husband Guy, four step grand-children and one great grand child all of Springfield.

He is preceded in death by one son, Matthew Freeman, his parents, Willie and Melvina Freeman, one sister, Barbara Ann Morris and one nephew, Charlie Landry.

A private memorial is to be held at a later date.

The family requests that NO flowers nor gifts be sent to them. Only your prayers are needed… Thank You!!!!

Cora Sullivan Hutchinson

Cora Sullivan Hutchinson was born on November 17, 1918 and Passed away at the age of 90 on June 6, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Joyce Hutchinson Bottolfs ; a son, Millard Lee Hutchinson, Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Linda Rouse Rimes, Susan Rouse Dampeer, Diana Bottolfs DiMaggio, Claire Bottolfs Keen McCaslin, Charles "Sam" Bottolfs, Monica Hutchinson Robertson, Donelle Hutchinson Rose; 24 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Aurie Richardson Sullivan; her husband, Millard Lee Hutchinson, Sr.; a daughter, Betty June Hutchinson Rouse; 4 sisters, Abie Sullivan Whitehead Hodges, Irma Sullivan Norred, Agnes Sullivan, and Virgie Sullivan; 4 brothers, Monroe Sullivan, Robert T. Sullivan, Woodrow Sullivan, & Newman Sullivan.

Pallbearers will be Garry Dampeer, Charles "Sam" Bottolfs, John Rimes, Hayden Hutches, Clint Dampeer and Airman 1St Class Kevin DiMaggio.

Visitation will be Monday, June 8, 2009 at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. interment will follow in Parklawn Cemetery.

Aaron Keith McAllister

Aaron Keith McAllister, age 24, died on June 7, 2009 in Springfield. He was born on Nov. 6, 1984 ; was a native and resident of Springfield; and was employed with Nelson Tree Service. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Tarrie Hill Odell and Allen Odell; 2 brothers, Ronnie B. McAllister, Jr. and Zachary McAllister; 3 sisters, Linda Lindsey, Patricia Fletcher, and Jamie McAllister; 3 step-sisters, Misty Powell, Kristy Gann, and Angela Saucier; step-mother, Deborah Brockhoeft; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie McAllister, Sr. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Geisler Funeral Home in Albany on Wednesday, June 10 from 10 am until the religious service at 2 pm.

interment will follow in Twin Pines Cemetery, Holden.
