Dorothy Phelps DeJean, 70 years old of Ponchatoula, died Monday, June 8, 2009, in St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was born on Thursday, June 9, 1938, in New Orleans.

Mrs. DeJean was a member of East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS.

Surviving are her husband, Leon "Dut" DeJean, Sr.; daughter & son-in-law, Lynn DeJean and husband Edward Tyre, Jr.; 3 sons & daughters-in-law, Raymond DeJean, Sr. and wife Tana, Ronald DeJean, Sr. and wife Debra, and Leon DeJean, Jr. and wife Cynthia; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Santa Marina, Edward Tyre, Raymond DeJean, Jr., Rashelle DeJean-Greenwood, Jessica DeJean, Ronald DeJean, Jr., Christiana DeJean, Michelle Vandenborre, Hunter John DeJean, and Hayden Leon DeJean; 4 great-grandchildren, Marci Santa Marina, Ronald Eschete, Parker Layton, and Lillian Rose Tyre; 2 sisters, Nelda Phelps Harrell and Ann P. Burch Barber; and numerous nieces and nephews

She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvie Morgan and Albert A. Phelps; 4 brothers, T. C. Phelps, George Phelps, Cullen Phelps, and Curtis Phelps; and grandson, Michael Thomas Tyre.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 11, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.

Visitation will continue Friday, June 12, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS.

interment will follow in the East Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Harvey C. Gillum, Sr.

Harvey C. Gillum, Sr., age 67, of Jackson Kentucky and resident of Springfield, Louisiana for the past 28 years, Passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Phyllis; his children Kimberly, Tom, Curtis, Cole, Steven and Pam; his grandson Coby and his wife Michele. Close to his heart and home are his loved ones, Jeff and Santa; their children, Alyssa and Patrick, Stacy and Lloyd and their children Lloyd, Sadie Mae and Collin. Forever loved by his constant companion, Kringle and his may grandogs. Also survived and beloved by many siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He proudly served in Vietnam and retired after a 20 year military career. During his lifetime, he also served as a devoted Master Mason.

Visitation will be begin Wednesday, June 10 at 5pm at Breathitt Funeral Home; 409 Highway 15 South; Jackson , KY. Services will be held Thursday, June 11 at 11 am.

Linda Kathleen Hamilton King Jackson

Beloved mother and daughter, she Passed away at home on June 4, 2009 of sudden heart failure. She was born December 24, 1947 in Hammond, LA to William Keen Jackson and Beth Cowan Jackson Bauerle. Linda Kathleen was married to Stan Vance Hamilton for 9 years. She was a member of Crowley First Baptist Church since 1986. And she served as the Past Matron Fern Leaf Chapter #24, Order of Eastern Star.

"Ms. K", as she was known back then, taught Louisiana history at Crowley Middle School for 29 years. She had a special bond with all of her students and was a mother to many during those tough adolescent years. Linda Kathleen never met a stranger. She was always willing to help a family member, friend or her loyal students at the first sign of need. She enjoyed her years after retirement traveling across the United States and Canada. She was witness to the birth of her first granddaughter, Yafa-Zain Marouf and recently welcomed her second granddaughter, Saja Marouf.

With selfish sorrow, eternal love, and highest regard, her family bids their beloved mother farewell as she joins our little brother Conrad Simeon King and her father William Keen Jackson .

Survivors include her husband, Stan Vance Hamilton, of Crowley; mother, Beth J. Bauerle of Hammond; brother, William Keen Jackson II and his wife, Sherry, of Hammond; a son, James King and his wife, Mia, of Lafayette; two daughters, Adele Dennison and her husband, Dean, of Tennessee, and Gretchen King-Marouf and her husband, Laith, of Montreal; and Kelly Lynn Lawson of Baton Rouge.

A memorial service will be held at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home, Crowley, LA.on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Burial will be at Wetmore Cemetery, Ponchatoula, LA.

Mary Jane Thompson

Mary Jane Thompson, 62 years old of Independence, LA, died Sunday, June 7, 2009, in Baton Rouge

Mary was born on Friday, November 1, 1946, in New Orleans.

Surviving are her 3 sons & daughters-in-law, Gregory Louis Thompson and Deborah Thompson, Robert Wayne Thompson and Debbie Thompson, David Allen Thompson and Denise Thompson; Great Aunt, Dolores Pechon; 2 brothers, Louis F. Pechon Jr. and David Alton Pechon; sister, Kathleen Ouida Pechon. She is also survived by two grandchildren.She is preceded in death by parents, Louis Pechon and Florence Childers Pechon.

Friends will be received Thursday, June 11, 2009, at St. Albert Catholic Church from 3:00 P.M. until services.

Services will be held at St. Albert Catholic Church, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. with Fr. Randy M. Cuevas, S.T.L. officiating.

Eugene Anderson

Eugene Anderson was born March 5, 1941 and died June 2, 2009 at 10:45.

Wake will be Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 6 p.m. at Redemption Center Church, 131961 Old Baton Rouge Hwy in Hammond, LA 70403.

Dismissal will be Friday, June 12, 2009 at the church.

Bishop Curtis Bellazer, Sr. will be officiating.

Scott Joseph Arnett

Scott Joseph Arnett, 54 years old of Albany, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at his residence.

He was born on Sunday, July 4, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr. Arnett was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired paramedic for the city of New Orleans.

Surviving are his wife, Joann Sengstock Arnett; 2 sons, Brad Alton Arnett and Benjamin Scott Arnett; 2 brothers, Michael Arnett and David Arnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Rose Guthrie and Alton Arnett.

Friends will be received Friday, June 12, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 13, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.

interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Robert E. Grosskopf Sr.

Robert E. Grosskopf Sr. 78, Passed away on Saturday, June 6th, 2009, at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, LA.

Mr. Grosskopf was the beloved husband of the late Myrtle Grosskopf for 54 years. Father of Robert Grosskopf Jr. And his wife Catherine Grosskopf of Boston, MA. and Pamela Grosskopf Mashon and her husband Kurt Mashon of Hammond, LA. Grandfather of Meghan and Margot Grosskopf and Zachary and Alexandra Mashon. Son of the late Howard and Edith Grosskopf of Pittsburgh, PA. Brother of the late Howard and Richard Grosskopf and Zita Grosskopf.

Mr. Grosskopf a native of Pittsburgh, PA, he was a WWII US Army Veteran and a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Metairie, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service in honor or Mr. Grosskopf at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 315 Ridgelake Drive, Metairie, LA on Saturday, June 13th at 11am. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 entrusted with the arrangements.

Leona Carol “Lee” Schiaro Prugh

Leona Carol “Lee” Schiaro Prugh, 61, of Hammond, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at her residence.

She was born on December 22, 1947, in Hammond, daughter of Carolyn Scalia Schiaro and the late Emile Schiaro.

Surviving are her husband, Rodney Dennis Prugh, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Dean Benoit, Carolyn and Kevin Beyl, and her daughter, Kellie Owens; mother, Carolyn Scalia Schiaro; 1 brother, Emile Wayne Schiaro, and 6 grandchildren.

Mrs. Prugh was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.

Margaret Scott Temple

Mrs. Margaret Scott Temple, 83 years old of Hammond, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

She was born on Wednesday, July 29, 1925, in New Orleans, Louisiana .

Surviving are her son & daughter-in-law, Donald A. and Ann B. Temple; son, Harvey Alan Temple; 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Diane T. and Luther Paul Martens, Ilene T. and Henry Plemer, Melissa T. and Donald Monteleone; 2 sisters, Ruby Lee Scott Davis, Pat Vicknair; brother, Tommy Scott; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey A. Temple, Jr. and a son, Thomas Walter Temple; father and step-mother, Thomas and Grace Scott; and her mother, Georgie Newman.

Friends will be received Saturday, June 13, 2009, from 9:30 am until 11:30 at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 11:30 am with Rev Johnny Hernandez officiating.

interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to TARC, 408 North Cypress St, Hammond, LA 70401.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Landmark Nursing Home and the staff of North Oaks Medical Center for the wonderful care their mother received.

Violet "Cookie" Greenwald DuBroc

Violet "Cookie" Greenwald DuBroc, 75 years old of Tickfaw, died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at her residence.

She was born on Wednesday, September 13, 1933, in New Orleans, daughter of the late Patrick and Olivia Palmisano Silcio.

Mrs. DuBroc was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Henry Lee DuBroc and 8 children, John DuBroc, Brenda Ensign, Gary Greenwald, Jeanette Greenwald, Annette DuBose, Gwendolyn Arceneaux, Ginger Breaux, Angela Hay; 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dina Plateo.

She is preceded in death by first husband, Joseph T. Greenwald Sr.; 4 sisters and 6 brothers.

Friends will be received Sunday, June 14, 2009, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

A memorial service will begin at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2009 in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation, 16013 Halbert Ln., Hammond, LA 70403.
