Rose Dougherty Ladner, "Mamma Rose,"

Rose Dougherty Ladner, "Mamma Rose," age 62, died on May 19 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Jefferson .

She was a native and resident of Ponchatoula.

Survivors include one son, Charles Ladner; 4 daughters, Tina Sutton, Dorothey Chastain, Barbara Sills, and Michelle Gipson; 2 brothers, William and Charles Dougherty ; one sister, Joella McHugh; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Ladner; parents, William and Dorothey Young Dougherty; grandson, Nathaniel Sills, brother, Billy Dougherty; and an infant daughter, Tonya Ladner.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Ponchatoula Community Center from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Geisler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Fannie Primus

Fannie Primus, 80, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center.

She was a resident of Hammond and a native of Magnolia, Miss.

She is survived by six daughters, Louise Diane Hinton, Janice Harris, Susan Perry, Cynthia Primus, Zula Denham and Angela Carter; four sons, Pete Primus, David Primus, Ronnie Primus and Donald Ray Hendricks; 20 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Primus, her grandson, Aaron Perry and her parents, Pete and Molly Watts.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Hammond. The Rev. Samuel Brown will conduct the service. Dismissal will be 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Holly Gardens Cemetery.

N.A. James Funeral Home in Hammond is in charge of the arrangements.

Evelyn Walker Whitlock

Evelyn "Louise" or "Weezie" Whitlock Passed away at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite, LA on Tuesday, May 19, 2009.

Loving mother of Octavia Wood, Lawrence "Billy" Whitlock, III (wife, Valerie); Tammy Gill, (husband, Johnny, Jr.); Robert Whitlock, Sr. (wife, Bonnie); Bessie Thiboeaux, (husband, Courtney).

Grandmother of Jennifer and Nathaniel Wood, Brittany and Kelly Gill, Robert and Travis Whitlock, Jonathan and Eric Thibodeaux and the late Jessica and Elizabeth Whitlock and Lawrence Whitlock, IV.

Daughter of the late Robert David Walker and Bessie Irene Travis Walker.

Sister of Susan Elizabeth Pierson, Barbara Gean Browstien, Sally Francis McCormick, Luther Henry Walker, Lester Howard Walker, Micky David Walker and the late William Joseph Walker.

Age 60 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service from Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. interment to follow in Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral time. For information, call 341-9421.

Steven William Bates, Jr.

Steven William Bates, Jr. was born on March 22, 1955 and Passed away at the age of 54 on May 23, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Olah Bates; 3 sons, Rusty, Alan, and Travis Bates; 4 grandchildren, Mason, Raven, Jaydent, and Kate Bates; his mother, Dorothy Bates; 2 brothers, David and Jeffrey Bates; 5 sisters, Carol Kropog, Eileen McCarrall, Jenny Bates, Christine Martin, and Della McCrory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven William Bates, Sr.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Geisler Funeral Home in Albany. The service will be Friday, May 29, 2009 at Geisler Funeral Home in Albany at 10:00 a.m. interment will follow in Hungarian Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Alvin Joseph Duvalle Jr.

Alvin Joseph Duvalle Jr., 65 years old of Robert, Louisiana , died Monday, May 25, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.He was born on August 30, 1943, in New Orleans. Mr. Duvalle was a retired exterminator for Orkin.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, JoAnn Mahl Duvalle; daughter & son-in-law, Jodi Duvalle Troxclair and Wesley Troxclair; son and his companion, Corey Joseph Duvalle and Joey Almagro; grandson, Bryce Troxclair; sister, Cheryl Duvalle Merz; twin brother, Calvin Jules Duvalle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Duvalle Sr. and Eunice Gros Duvalle; daughter, Lori Ann Duvalle.

Friends will be received Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.

Mary Restivo Lamonte

Mrs. Mary Restivo Lamonte, 94 years old of Tickfaw, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her residence.

She was born on Wednesday, July 22, 1914, in Tickfaw, Louisiana .

Surviving are her sons & daughters-in-law, Mayor Tony and Laura Lamonte, Joey and Pam Lamonte; daughters & sons-in-law, Sannie Latino, Mary Ann and Sal Bonfiglio, Fannie Mae and Sonny Hutchinson, Vicki Glascock, Phyne Vilardo; 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Abene, Christine Castjohn, Phyne Abene; brothers, Frank Restivo and Dominick Restivo.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony Lamonte; mother, Cruciaficia Farrara Restivo; father and step-mother, Joe and Victoria Restivo; daughter, Christine Gagliano; son, Joseph D. Lamonte; Alphonse Gagliano; sisters, Annie Restivo, Margaret Loup, Frances Lamonte, Lena Fiallia; brothers, Dominick Restivo and Jim Migliacio; 5 sons-in-law and 1 daughter-in-law .

Friends will be received Wednesday, May 27, 2009, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:30 am.

interment will follow in the Colonial Cemetery in Independence.

Daniel David "Dan" Larkin

Daniel David "Dan" Larkin who was very devoted to family & friends, who had a "Servant's Heart" was always willing to help others, was born January 2, 1988 and went to be with Jesus at 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was 21, a native of LaPlace and a resident of Amite. Dan was a proud member of Troop #340 Boy Scouts of America, Amite Chapter were he complete all merits up to Eagle Scout.

Dan is survived by his mother, Sharon Kay Fountain Larkin & father, Harold Steve Larkin, both of Amite; 2 sisters, Brandy Bowman and husband, Preston, Ft. Campbell, KY and Monica Larkin, Amite; a brother, Timothy Larkin, Amite; maternal grandmother, Cleovis Fountain, Destrehan; paternal grandparents, Stella McKenzie, Thornfield, MO and H. H. "Red" Larkin and wife, Roxanne Larkin, Hammond; also numerous nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1503 Pecan St., Hammond, LA at 6:00 p.m. with Bro. John Cook officiating.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Amite Chapter #340 Boy Scouts of America.

Al Joseph Steib Sr.

Al Joseph Steib Sr. died Friday May 22, 2009 at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 79. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Kenner. He was a retired Maintenance Superintendent of I.T.O. Stevedore’s, a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3267 and Square and Compass No.417. He is survived by his wife, Mary Chopin Steib, two daughters, Kimberly Steib Rabalais and Stephanie Steib Rabalais and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Godfrey B. Steib, Sr., his mother, Irene Torres Steib Bergeron and his brother, Godfrey B. Steib, Jr. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 9:00 to Noon with a Funeral Mass immediately following in the Chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001. interment will be in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Please send donations to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.

Clara Gertrude Joiner Lowe

Clara Gertrude Joiner Lowe, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Ochsner Health Center. She was 84 years old. Visitation will be held in Baton Rouge at the Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, May 22 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continuing on Saturday, May 23 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Greenoaks Cemetery.

Holyn Eugenia Howes Perrin

Holyn Eugenia Howes Perrin, age 84, died on May 20, 2009, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond, LA. She was born on March 16, 1925, in Ponchatoula, LA, to Robert Matthew and Grace Fendlason Howes.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Perrin Watkins, and son-in-law, Larry Watkins; two grandsons, Wesley Paul Watkins and Lucas Matthew Watkins; and one great grand-daughter, Savannah Lane Watkins, all of Ponchatoula, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold A. Perrin; and her two sisters, Doris Howes Lipscomb and Hazel Howes Fletcher.

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, LA, on Saturday, May 23, 2009, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with the burial to follow at the Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Mary Lou Landry Riviere

Mary Lou Landry Riviere, 82, of Hammond, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at her home. She was born, April 10, 1927, in Hammond, LA.

Mrs. Riviere was an avid bridge player and loved LSU football & baseball.

She was retired from the Hammond Daily Star after 22 years.

She was a graduate of Hammond High School and she graduated from Louisiana State University in 1949.

Surviving are her 3 daughters, Ren/ Amond, Andr/ Samson and her husband Jeff, and Jaun/ Lamonaca and her husband Caesar; 1 sister, Betty Landry Loupe; 4 grandchildren, Eric Samson, Laura Lamonaca, Bryce Amond and his wife Brandi, and Leigh Lamonaca; 2 great-grandchildren, Brody and Baleigh Amond; and 2 nieces, Marylee Allen and Janet Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronie & Freda Keim Landry; and brother, Charles Landry.

Friends will be received Friday, May 22, 2009, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 9:00 a.m. until the religious services at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter.
