Angela Marie Nations Smith

Angela Marie Nations Smith, age 47 died on May 9 at her residence in Tickfaw. She was born on Aug. 12, 1961 and was a native of Tickfaw.

Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Smith, Sr., son, Charles D. Smith, Jr., daughter, Robin Smith; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Mercedes Watkins, Kayla Watkins, James Smith and Clayton Smith; one niece, Patricia Nations; one nephew, Joseph Nations ; 3 grandnieces and 2 grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alford Richard Nations and Sally Anthony Nations; sister, Patricia Ann Nations and grandson, Blake Ray Smith.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation services on Tuesday , May 12 at Little River Pentecostal Church from 5 pm until 10 pm and on Wednesday at the church after 9 am until the religious services at 12 noon conducted by Rev. Adrian Spikes.

interment will follow in Little River Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

Elizabeth Leona "Lizzie" Arceneaux

Elizabeth Leona "Lizzie" Arceneaux, 86 years old of Springfield, LA, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

She was born on Monday, June 12, 1922, in Springfield.

Surviving are; four sons and their spouses, Felix Jr. and Lanelle Arceneaux, Freddie and Linda Arceneaux, Larry and Barbara Arceneaux, Gary and Rose Arceneaux, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by; her husband Felix "Bay" Arceneaux, Sr.; her parents Frances and Alonzo Threeton; a granddaughter Stephanie Arceneaux, brothers: Milton, Willie "Bill", Emmett, Lonnie, Daniel "Boone" and Julius Threeton; sisters Idel "Dale" Dixon, Annie Lou Bowman and Alice Heider.

Friends will be received Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, from 10:00A.M. until services.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:00P.M. with Rev. Emil Tasso officiating.

interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery, Springfield, Louisiana 70462.

Jesse James Hayden

Died at 1:15PM on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Tangi-Pines Nursing Home in Amite, LA. He was a native and resident of Amite, LA. Age 91 years.

Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Monday. Services conducted by Bro. Kenneth Istre and Bro. Don McGee.

interment Hayden Grove Cemetery, Amite, LA.

Survived by daughter, Debra Hayden Santora and husband, Charles, Amite, 2 sons, Micheal James Hayden and wife, Brenda, Baton Rouge, Dale W. Hayden, Junction City, AR, niece, Kathy Howard Currier and husband, Tommy, Amite, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Louise Trowbridge Hayden , 2 grandsons, Chris and Sam Santora, 2 sisters, Clausel H. Cutrer, Donice Jean H. Sceroler, brother, Roy A. Hayden.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Edward Joseph "Butch" Rolling III

Edward Joseph "Butch" Rolling, III, 65 years old of Hammond, Louisiana , died Friday, April 24, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

He was born on May 4, 1943, in New Orleans, son of the late Edward Joseph Rolling, Jr and the late Lena Maude Martens Rolling.

Mr. Rolling was a senior estimator for Arctic Slope Regional Constructors, New Orleans division and was co-owner of Universal Electric Company of Hammond with his father for many years.

Mr. Rolling attended St. Joseph Seminary in Covington and graduated from Southeastern High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a volunteer photographer for the Special Olympics, a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and he also coached Little League Baseball.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lett Rolling; 3 daughters, Karen Elizabeth Rolling, Janice Michelle Rolling, Leslie Gary Rolling; 1 sister, Janice Rolling Amar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald David Rolling.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 27, 2009, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond from 12:00 pm noon until services begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond.

Andree Geismar Rosenblum

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Passed away peacefully Friday, April 24th. Andree was born to Eva and Alfred Geismar in New Orleans, LA. on June 5th, 1929. She attended Lafayette School and McMain High School in New Orleans and then LSU in Baton Rouge where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. She married Sidney Rosenblum in 1949 and worked with him in Rosenblums department store in Hammond until its closing in 1995.

Andree was very active in the community. She was a director of the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Hammond Regional Arts Center, and member of the Louisiana Professional Counselors Board, and a member of various other charitable organizations.

Andree is survived by her husband, Sidney, her three children and their families. Simone and John Irwin of Houston, TX, Cindy and Alan Golman of Dallas, TX and Kip Rosenblum and Eddie Varner of Hammond, LA. Also by her grandchildren Brent Wise, Ross Golman, Ashley and Thomas Irwin, Stephanie and David Wise, Lauren Golman, and Cathryn and Booth Farwell. Also her great-grandsons Henry Wise and Jackson Farwell and sister Jackie Toledano of New Orleans, LA and sister-in-law Sally Rosenblum of Bogalusa, LA and loving neices and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dee Jones for her years of service to Andree and to Odyssey Hospice.

Services will be held graveside at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 27th at Greenlawn Cemetary in Hammond, LA with Rabbi Alexis Berk of Touro Synagogue, New Orleans, LA. officiating. In lieu of flowers, kind donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or Rosenblum Mental Health Center, 130 Robinhood Drive, Hammond, LA 70403 or charity of your choice.

Roberta Julia Mattix Sturdivant

Roberta Julia Mattix Sturdivant was born on February 14, 1923 in Greenwood, MS and Passed away on April 24, 2009 in Hammond, La at the age of 86. She was a native of Ponchatoula and a resident of Loranger.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra A. Wright; a son, William E. Sturdivant, Jr. and a daughter in law, Nancy Sturdivant; 2 grandchildren, Ellen and John Eubanks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Sturdivant, Sr.; 3 brothers, Jacob Mattix, George Mattix and William Mattix.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m.

interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Roy Raymond Danna

Roy Raymond Danna, 92 years old of Walker, LA, formerly of Independence, died Sunday, April 26, 2009,at his residence.

He was born on Wednesday, February 14, 1917, in Independence.

Surviving are son Ray Danna, his wife Lorraine, his grandchildren Christina and Nicholas, and sister Mary LeJeune.

He is preceded in death by his wife Josephine.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, from 9:00A.M. until services.

Services will be held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 11:00A.M.

interment will follow in the Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum, Independence, Louisiana 70443.

Inez Addison Locicero

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and great Grandmother, Passed away peacefully at her residence in the comfort of her Loving family at her side on April 26th, 2009.

Inez was born to Louis and Tommie Addison, in Hammond, La., on January 30th, 1940. She was a lifelong native of Hammond and had been married to Andrew "Andy" Locicero since February 8th, 1959. She was retired from the Tangipahoa Parish School System. Inez loved spending time with her family and doing for her grandchildren, she also enjoyed crafting, traveling, cooking and gardening. She attended Coburn Baptist Church in Hammond.

Inez is survived by her Loving husband Andrew Locicero, their three sons and their families. Michael and Lisa Locicero, of Hammond, Ricky and Sharon Locicero, of Ponchatoula, Brian and Heidi Locicero, of Destin Fl., grandchildren Chevon Morris and her husband Darren, Cheyenne Locicero, Logan and Kelsea Drew Locicero, Peyton and Andrew Locicero and great granddaughter Ava Hebert. Also surviving are her sisters, Myrle Owens and Mary Lou Culbreath, and brothers Alvin Addison, Charles Addison, and Jack Addison.

She was preceded in Death by her parents, Louis and Tommie Addison, sisters, Myrtis Addison, Edna Klumpp and brother Earl Addison. The entire family would like to give our heartfelt appreciation for all the thoughts and prayers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29th, 2009, at Victory Baptist Church on Little Italy Road in Hammond, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Services to follow with interment at the Holly Gardens Cemetery in Hammond.

Jimmie Drew Jewett

Jimmie Drew Jewett, 57 years old of Hammond, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

He was born on March 6, 1952, in Fort Worth, TX.

Surviving are his wife, Terry Jewett; 3 sons, Michael, Chris, and Jimmie Jewett; 4 grandchildren, Miles Jewett, Precious Jewett, Natalia Guaraggi, and Cheyenne Jewett; 2 sisters, Wilma Smith and Betty Newberry; and brother, Ronald Marsh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Dee & Betty Victoria Hobson Jewett; son, Kenneth Richard Jewett; sister, Janis Sandifer; and 2 brothers, Burton Marsh and James Jewett.

Friends will be received Wednesday, April 29, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 30, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond

interment will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula.

Charles Edwin "Ed" Slagle

Charles Edwin "Ed" Slagle, 69 years old of Bogalusa, Louisiana , died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at his residence.

He was born on Sunday, February 18, 1940, in Tennessee, son of the late Charles E. Slagle and Bertha Bowling Slagle.

He was a retired Taxidermist.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Mary E. Derks Slagle; 5 children, Joann S. Anderson, Russell Slagle, David Slagle, Jerry Slagle, and Charles Slagle; 3 sisters, Vera S. Davidson, Billie Sue Lannom, and Wanda S. Meade; numerous grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Frys.

He is preceded in death by first wife, Angie Kubinski Slagle; 2nd wife, Edna Williams Slagle; sister, Lois S. Edmonds; 2 brothers, Judge and Bobby Slagle; and step father, Cecil Miracle. Friends will be received Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son - Ponchatoula, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Saturday, after 8 a.m until services at 11 a.m. with Rev.Leo Miller officiating.

interment will follow in the Bedico Community Cemetery, Ponchatoula.
