Edward Joseph "Butch" Rolling III

Edward Joseph "Butch" Rolling, III, 65 years old of Hammond, Louisiana , died Friday, April 24, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

He was born on May 4, 1943, in New Orleans, son of the late Edward Joseph Rolling, Jr and the late Lena Maude Martens Rolling.

Mr. Rolling was a senior estimator for Arctic Slope Regional Constructors, New Orleans division and was co-owner of Universal Electric Company of Hammond with his father for many years.

Mr. Rolling attended St. Joseph Seminary in Covington and graduated from Southeastern High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a volunteer photographer for the Special Olympics, a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and he also coached Little League Baseball.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lett Rolling; 3 daughters, Karen Elizabeth Rolling, Janice Michelle Rolling, Leslie Gary Rolling; 1 sister, Janice Rolling Amar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald David Rolling.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 27, 2009, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond from 12:00 pm noon until services begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond.

Andree Geismar Rosenblum

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Passed away peacefully Friday, April 24th. Andree was born to Eva and Alfred Geismar in New Orleans, LA. on June 5th, 1929. She attended Lafayette School and McMain High School in New Orleans and then LSU in Baton Rouge where she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. She married Sidney Rosenblum in 1949 and worked with him in Rosenblums department store in Hammond until its closing in 1995.

Andree was very active in the community. She was a director of the Hammond Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Hammond Regional Arts Center, and member of the Louisiana Professional Counselors Board, and a member of various other charitable organizations.

Andree is survived by her husband, Sidney, her three children and their families. Simone and John Irwin of Houston, TX, Cindy and Alan Golman of Dallas, TX and Kip Rosenblum and Eddie Varner of Hammond, LA. Also by her grandchildren Brent Wise, Ross Golman, Ashley and Thomas Irwin, Stephanie and David Wise, Lauren Golman, and Cathryn and Booth Farwell. Also her great-grandsons Henry Wise and Jackson Farwell and sister Jackie Toledano of New Orleans, LA and sister-in-law Sally Rosenblum of Bogalusa, LA and loving neices and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Dee Jones for her years of service to Andree and to Odyssey Hospice.

Services will be held graveside at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 27th at Greenlawn Cemetary in Hammond, LA with Rabbi Alexis Berk of Touro Synagogue, New Orleans, LA. officiating. In lieu of flowers, kind donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or Rosenblum Mental Health Center, 130 Robinhood Drive, Hammond, LA 70403 or charity of your choice.

Roberta Julia Mattix Sturdivant

Roberta Julia Mattix Sturdivant was born on February 14, 1923 in Greenwood, MS and Passed away on April 24, 2009 in Hammond, La at the age of 86. She was a native of Ponchatoula and a resident of Loranger.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra A. Wright; a son, William E. Sturdivant, Jr. and a daughter in law, Nancy Sturdivant; 2 grandchildren, Ellen and John Eubanks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Sturdivant, Sr.; 3 brothers, Jacob Mattix, George Mattix and William Mattix.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Geisler Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m.

interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Wilford "Red" Cowart

Wilford "Red" Cowart, age 89, Passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center. He was a resident of Albany and a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

Mr. Cowart is survived by his wife of 70 years, Laura Belle Cowart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Perry and Lorraine Cowart, and Kenneth and Susan Cowart. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Mark Cowart and wife Rebecca, Trina Guzan and husband David, Shree Jones and husband Trey, Wilford Wade Cowart and wife Mary, John Cowart and wife Missy, and Matthew Cowart; eleven great-grandchildren and an expectant great-grandchild. A sister, Inez Young, two brothers, Leroy and Floyd Cowart along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Mr. Cowart was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Cowart; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Irena Boyd and Lorena Schanil; brothers, Joe, Ellis and Wilton Cowart.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.. Rev. Dan Munson will conduct the services and entombment will follow in Greenlawn Mausoleum.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.

Joseph Reggie DeLettre

Joseph Reggie DeLettre, age 69, died on April 18, 2009 at Baton Rouge General Hospital. A native of Arcola and a resident of Ponchatoula, he was a retired truck driver and a veteran of the US Army.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Holliday DeLettre; 2 daughters, Norma Hull and Karen Lewis; 4 grandchildren, Della Clayton, Ariel, Bethany, and Tiffany Cambetta; half brother, Robert Cox, and one other brother.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Bradley and Alma Passman DeLettre and one sister, JeEtta Heywood. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Crossgate Baptist Church in Robert. The services will be conducted by Pastor Louis Husser.

Geisler Funeral Home of Ponchatoula in charge of arrangements.

John Dee Horton

John Dee Horton Passed away on April 15, 2009 at the age of 47.

He is a resident of Kentwood, LA.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009, 2:00pm- 7:00pm at Crain & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Franklinton and funeral service will be held at Crain & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11am, Supt. Speady Ross~ Pastor.

Internment will be at Butler cemetery.

He is survived by his Mother, Margie Mack of Mt. Hermon; three brothers, Roosevelt Horton of Tallulah, LA, Hercules Horton of Tennessee Colony, TX, and James Lee Horton of Kentwood, LA; one sister, Rosa Barnes of Mt. Hermon, LA.

Heloise Gassen Zabbia

Heloise Gassen Zabbia, 91, Passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2009, at the Richard Murphy Hospice House. Heloise was a lifelong resident of Ponchatoula and a 1933 graduate of Ponchatoula High School.

A kind mother, grandmother and friend, Heloise was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph's Rosary Altar Society and the KC Ladies, as well as a volunteer for the City of Ponchatoula's Tourist Information Center.

She is survived by sons A.J. Zabbia, Jr. of Denver, Colorado, Richard "Dickie" Zabbia of Baton Rouge, and Robert "Bob" and wife Kim Howes Zabbia of Ponchatoula. She is survived by one granddaughter, Kate Stuart, daughter of Bob and Kim, and one grandson-in-law, JD Stuart, of Nashville, Tennessee.

She is preceded in death by her husband A.J. Zabbia, Sr.; her only brother Hollis Gassen, Sr. and his wife Josephine Hungate Gassen; and parents Urbin and Frances Schroeder Gassen.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the visitation from 9-11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula on Saturday, April 24, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00. interment will follow at the Ponchatoula Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations may be made in honor of Heloise Zabbia to the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation, 16013 Halbert Lane Hammond, 70403.

Viola “Lottie” Cashion

Viola "Lottie" Cashion, born Oct. 13, 1913 in New Orleans, LA., daughter of the late George F. and Euzaide "Marie" Landry Goodyear, and wife of the late Ross B. Cashion.

She is survived by her sons, Donald and Jamie Morrison, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Mary Ann Morrison, and son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Micha Linn Morrison, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Home Chapel Service at 11:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. Deacon Wallace Gainey. interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hammond.

Davrie Powers-Jack

Davrie Powers-Jack was born August 17, 1960 and died April 12, 2009.

A funeral will be held April 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Butler A.M.E. Zion Church in Amite, LA.

Rev Dr. Francis Williams will officiate and interment will be in Butler's Cemetery.

Angelic Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Avis Josephine Brown Puls

Avis Josephine Brown Puls 77, died April 7, 2009 in Knoxville, TN. A native of Stanton, MS, resident of Dandridge, TN, formerly of Loranger.

Survived by children, Eddie Jr., Ronnie (Paula), Timothy (Rocky), Jeffrey (Carol), Louis (Stacey) Puls, Melinda (Joey) Frandria; Sisters, Jewell Bonds, Edna Perrin; Brothers, E.L. and Charles Brown; 14 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents Ollie and Roine Brown; Sisters, Laura Allen, Mary Mallory; Brothers, O.C., Cecil and Robert Brown.

Visitation will be held Saturday April 18, 2009 at Loranger Methodist Church from 4 p.m. until a memorial service at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to cancer, kidney or arthritis research.

Stanley Lee Reid

Stanley Lee Reid, 68 years old of Ponchatoula, LA, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at his residence.

He was born on Thursday, March 27, 1941, in Independence, Louisiana , son of the late Byron Reid and the late Calvenease Baham Reid.

He was a retired Driver Instructor for Coastal.

Surviving are his wife, Norma Gean Granger Reid; daughters, Rhonda G. Cupola and Stacey R. Motichek; sons, Stanley Reid, Jr., Byron A Reid & wife, Michelle; sisters, Eva Jacks and Lois Roberts; brothers, W.M. and Eddie Reid, grandchildren, Shannon Reid, Byron Reid ll, Rebecca Reid, Christopher Hunkin, Andrea Cupola, Bryan Motichek, Kaitlyn Motichek and Courtney Brandon.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 6:00P.M. until 9:00P.M. and on Saturday from 8:00A.M. until services in the funeral home chapel, Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11:00A.M..

interment will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
