Christina Carroll Craig

Mrs. Christina Carroll Craig, 83 years old of Hammond, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Carpenter House hospice center in Baton Rouge.

She was born on Tuesday, April 6, 1926, in Natalbany, daughter of the late George and Tena Stewart Carroll.

Mrs. Craig was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 258 in Springfield.

Surviving are her sons & daughters-in-law, Bobby and Brenda Craig Jr., George and Anita Craig, Joe and Kathy Craig; daughter & son-in-law, Belinda and Rodney Johnson ; 8 grandchildren, Eric Craig, Kathleen Craig, Kay May, Scott Craig, Annie Craig, Cody Johnson , Daniel Craig, Jane Craig; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Maudie Raybourn and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Craig Sr. and granddaughter, Jesica Michelle Johnson ; 2 brothers, Lonnie and John Carroll; 2 sisters, Iva M. Holts and Catherine Crayton.

Friends will be received Friday, April 17, 2009, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Andy Stafford officiating.

interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Albany.

Daniel Percy Glover

A resident of Shreveport, he died Wednesday April 15, 2009, at Grace Home Residential Hospice in Shreveport. He was 88, born on January 30, 1921 in Clio, LA where he will be laid to rest next to his loving and devoted wife, Julia Toups Glover "Juju", who preceded him in death. He cared for her endlessly and with adoring dedication until her death.

He was born to the late John Luther & Olivia Berthelot Glover. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Barton and 4 brothers - William, John, Thomas and Darrel Glover.

He will be greatly missed by his 3 daughters and their families; Bonnie Glover Williams, Janelle Glover Everson, Elaine Glover Borskey & sons-in-law, Dr. Michael Everson & James Borskey. 5 grandchildren and their families - Aaron, Lisa & Ryleigh Williams; Blane and Shannon Hinkle Williams, Michelle Danielle Everson, Michael, Brooke, Cora & Holt Charleville and Jessica (Borskey), Jeff, Victoria, and Lauren Brickert.

After 30 years of service to Exxon sales department in Baton Rouge as a truck driver/mechanic, he retired to the Amite River. In retirement he continued his passion and enjoyment of fishing on the Amite River and Lake Maurepaus.

Family and friends will be received, Sunday April 19, from 6 p.m.-10p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, LA. Visitation resumes at Huff Chapel United Methodist Church in Killian ( Hwy 22 and Huff Chapel Rd.) on Monday April 20, from 9 a.m. until services begin at 10 a.m.conducted by Bro. Milton Bourque.

interment will be at Davidson Cemetery in Killian. Pallbearers will be Aaron Williams, Blane Williams, Michael Charleville, Jeff Brickert, Larry Vaucllin & Ken Davidson. Honorguard and flag provided by the Springfield VFW in dedication to his service during WW II in the U.S. Army Air Corp.

We would like to give our heartfelt appreciation to all Agape Hospicecare of Shreveport for their dedication to providing the best care, support, respect, along with all of their love above and beyond to him, Elaine, James and the rest of the family. Our special thanks to Chenita Miller, Rene Barton, Monica Crow, Teddi Yarbrough and Amber Cocchiola for walking every step of the way with him in preparation for his journey home. Also to the wonderful staff at Grace Home Residential Hospice for the care he received there.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to Huff Chapel Methodist Church, Agape Hospicecare of Shreveport or the Davidson Cemetery Improvement Fund.

Edwin Rene Frelix

Edwin Rene Frelix, 50, a native of Ponchatoula, La., and resident of Houston, Texas , died April 15, 2009, in Houston, Texas .

Visitation will be at N.A. James Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be at N.A. James Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at 7 p.m. Dismissal will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, conducted by the Rev. Donnell Henderson.

Survivors include his father, Mr. Bernell Brown of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Latasha Frelix and Natasha Frelix; one son, Andrew Thomas Jackson of Houston, Texas ; one sister, Fawn Blount; two brothers, Rodney K. Frelix of Ponchatoula, La., and Michael C.A. Tyrone of Baton Rouge, La.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mearlin Hayes; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed and Gracie Pea; and daughter, Milissa Brown.

N.A. James Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Linda Shaffer McLaughlin

Age 67 and a lifelong resident of Pumpkin Center, Linda went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 20, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center. Linda enjoyed being involved in politics and spending time in her yard. Her Christian character was portrayed by her passion for helping others along with the love and care she gave to her husband, children and grandchildren. Linda was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Travis McLaughlin; two sons, Gary and wife, Dawn-Riley Verbois; Nathan McLaughlin and fianc/ Robin-Diamond, all of Pumpkin Center; two daughters, Michele-Verbois Huebinger and husband Jerry, Ponchatoula and Racheal-McLaughlin Rolling and husband John Mark, Jr., Birmingham, Alabama. Linda was blessed with and adored by seven grandchildren, Breanne and Jenna Huebinger; Shea and Alexa Verbois; Logan McLaughlin; Malyn and Lily Grace Rolling. Also surviving Linda are two brothers, Larry Shaffer and Danny Shaffer, Sr. and four sisters, Judy Meades, Sandy Soape, Karen Gables and Susan "SuePat" Thornhill.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Camille and Ernestine-Stewart Shaffer; sister, Helen Faye Shaffer and stepson, Travis Adrian McLaughlin.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from Macedonia Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center on Thursday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22nd from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Thursday at Macedonia Baptist Church beginning at 8:00 a.m. until the funeral time. Rev. Melvin Adams will officiate the services and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.

Joan Figler Tilyou

Joan Figler Tilyou, 79 years old of Hammond, died Monday, April 20, 2009, in Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

She was born on Saturday, June 22, 1929, in Niagara Falls, New York.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond Tilyou; 5 daughters, Karen Lea, Gail Bryan, Suzanne Miller, Kathryn Tilyou, and Cynthia Tilyou; 4 sons, Dr. Mark Tilyou, Gary Tilyou, Lesley Tilyou, and Dr. Paul Tilyou; 16 grandchildren, Bret Tilyou, Neil Tilyou, Erin Spalten, Greg Tilyou, Jeanette Hogan, Stephanie Travis, Adam Tilyou, Bradley Tilyou, Jeffrey Lea, Theresa Bryan, Charles Bryan, Lauren Miller, Douglas Miller, Madeline Tilyou, Taylor Boudreaux, and Josh Boudreaux; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Patricia Tilyou and Paula Bedard; mother-in-law, Pearl Tilyou Ripple of Niagara Falls, New York; 2 brothers-in-law, Clare Tilyou and Glen Tilyou both of Niagara Falls, New York.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Irene Bowman and Eugene Figler; and daughter, Amy Tilyou.

Friends will be received Thursday, April 23, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Friday, April 24, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:40 a.m. at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond, Friday, April 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

interment will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Hammond.

Judy Callahan

Judy Callahan, 61 of Ponchatoula, LA, died April 17, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters: Jacqueline Walker and Cassandra Anderson, and two sons: Darren Callahan and William Anderson III.

Survivors also include siblings Jackie Peterson, Eric Peterson, Gregory Garrett and Samuel Garrett.

Visitation will be at 1st True Love World Outreach Ministries in Ponchatoula on April 23, 2009 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in the same location.

interment will be in Holly Gardens Cemetery.

Emmet Hano

Emmet Hano, 80 years old of Hammond, Louisiana died Sunday, April 19, 2009, in North Oaks Medical Center.

He was born on Friday, December 7, 1928, in Holden, Louisiana , son of the late Emmett Hano and Katie Louis Hano.

Surviving are his daughter, Katherine Joyce Moya; grandchildren, Francisco Jr. , Ashley and Paige Moya; aunt, Hazel Sanders; and many more friends and relatives.

He is preceded in death by son, Thomas Hano, wife, Diane Hano and sister Joyce Hano.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. Services will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10 a.m.

interment will follow in the Briar Patch Cemetery.

Connie Havard Henagan Raines

Connie Havard Henagan Raines, born to the late J.D. and Fern Saucier Havard in Morrow, LA on March 5, 1938, died on April 22, 2009 at the age of 71 at her residence.

She is survived by her husband, Reverend Elester E. Raines; four children, Charlene Oxenbol, Ramie Howlett and husband Clay, Patrick Henagan and wife Connie Jean, and Sharon Prejean and husband Michael; two stepchildren, Sheilah Raines and Kerry Raines and wife Christine; seven grandchildren, Faith Lewis, Lindsay Raines, Megan Rasa, Tricia Henagan, Heather Howlett, Kristin Henagan, and Kayleigh Raines; two great grandchildren, Michael Lewis and Milan Lewis; two brothers, Morris Havard and Ardis Havard; two sisters, Eilene Miller and Donna Holbrook, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Joe Henagan and a stepdaughter, Wendy Raines Alleman.

Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son in Hammond, LA on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 8 pm, with viewing from 5 pm until 8 pm. The Reverend George Moore of Hattiesburg, MS will officiate at the service assisted by the Reverend Marshall Wallace. Services at the Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009. The viewing will be from 8:00 am to 11;00 am, with Funeral Service at 11:00 am.

interment will follow in the Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches, TX.

Barbara Jean Bauerle Roberts

Barbara J. "Bobbi" Roberts, age 83, died April 18, 2009 at her home in Grandview, MO. Burial services will be held on April 23 in Bella Vista, AR.

She was a native of Hammond, LA.; was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Roberts, Jr., her parents Carl and Laura Bauerle, sister Ruby Bedell; brothers, John, Stanley, Gus, and Dewitt Bauerle.

She is survived by daughters Carolyn Mack, Pam Crawford, and Vicki Beck, son Randy Roberts, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Grace Stewart Rosata

She was born in Holden, Louisiana and a lifelong resident of the Hammond area. At the age of 80, Grace Passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at North Oaks Medical Center. She was a devoted mother who loved to tell and listen to good stories. By volunteering as a foster grandparent at the Hammond Developmental Center, Grace was able to fulfill her passion for helping others. She was known as a generous Christian "country" lady, who always had a sober sense of humor. Grace provided for her family as a seamstress and managing the Dollar General Store along with many other related jobs.

Grace is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Beth-Andermann Rosata of Kingwood Texas ; seven grandchildren and their spouses, John, III and Angelle Rosata of Nashville Tennessee, Kimberly and Steve Sossamon of Dallas Texas , Erin and Wally Fleming of Robert, Louisiana , Reagan and Clint Harris of Tyler Texas , Kellie Alison and Danny Stevens of Williston, Florida, Lauren and Matthew Todd of Hebron Kentucky, and Karlyn Rosata of Covington, Louisiana . She leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and one expectant great-grandson.

Her surviving siblings are two sisters, Lula Mae Pierson of Holden and Lauressa Watts of Bush and a brother, Lemuel Stewart of Albany. She will be sadly missed by her family and a host of friends.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, John Rosata Sr.; two sons, Kelly Raymond Rosata and Jimmy Rosata and one brother, Lawrence Stewart.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond on Friday April 24th at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home chapel on Thursday April 23rd from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m. until the funeral service time. The services will be officiated by Deacon Wallace Gainey and interment will follow in Parklawn Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.
