Jimmie Ray Sheridan Sr.

Jimmie Ray Sheridan, Sr., 74 of Ponchatoula, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at his residence. He was born November 7, 1934 in Ponchatoula, son of the late Ray and Bethel Matthews Sheridan. He was retired after 30 years from the Louisiana Highway Department and after 10 years of service from the Tangipahoa Parish Drainage Board.

Surviving are his 5 sons, Jimmie Sheridan, Jr., Mike Sheridan, Rodney Sheridan, William Norred, and Wayne Norred, all of Ponchatoula; 2 sisters, Lynn Reese and Gwen Alexander from Ponchatoula.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobbie Lee Wagner Sheridan and 1 brother, Don Felder Sheridan.

Friends will be received Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at the Harry McKneely & Son in Ponchatoula from 9 A.M. until the Noon Funeral Home Chapel Service, conducted by Rev. Michael Matthews.

interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond.

June Yingling Thorburn

A member of Pi Beta Phi and graduate of Ohio State University, June retired as a teacher with the West Virginia Public School System.

She was a native of Martins Ferry, Ohio and born to the late William Henry and Edna Latimer Yingling who were lifetime residents of Martins Ferry. June was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana since 1981 where she was dedicated to her volunteer work with North Oaks Medical Center.

At the age of 85, she Passed away peacefully at her home in Hammond on Sunday, November 16, 2008.

Her loving daughter and caretaker, Betsy Ann O’Leary survives her along with a granddaughter, Alyson Rebecca O’Leary, both of Hammond. She leaves behind one sister, Martha Ann Heslop of Charlotte, North Carolina and a sister-in-law, Mary Louise Yingling of Oak Park Heights, Minnesota.

June was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Thomas Joseph O’Leary, 2nd husband, James Alexander Thorburn and brothers, Robert Yingling and Clement Yingling.

The family expresses a special "thanks" to Life Source Hospice and in particular, Robin Roberts, Lori Torres and Keyontia Duplessis. They would also like to say "thank you" to Care, Inc. especially Delores Conley.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond on Wednesday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Home, west of Hammond beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.

Bobby Joe Burt

Services for Mr. Bobby Joe Burt, of Hammond, La will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 11 a.m, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel in Brookhaven, Ms. Visitation will be from 9 until 11 at the funeral home.

Mr. Burt, 75, Passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born March 11, 1933 to Eddie Burt and Maude Marie Mullins Burt.

Mr. Burt served as a Page under Harry Truman in the U.S. Congress. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. By occupation, he was a Buyer for Dupont Chemical Company in La Place, La. He was a member of the Protestant faith and First Christian Church in Hammond, La for 67 years.

Preceding him in death was his parents; one brother, Clifton Burt; sister, Catherine Burt; his first wife, Frances Callihan Burt and his second wife Dottie Burt.

Survivors include his daughter, Roxane Atwood and her husband Tim, of Hendersonville, TN; his sister Ida Bess Kneiper of Houston, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.

Irene Mabry Daniels

Irene Mabry Daniels, 68, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington. She was the third of eleven children of Leslie Mabry, Sr. and the late Irene Edwards Mabry. She was a native of Pickens, Mississippi and resided in Roseland, Louisiana and Los Angeles County, California before returning to Amite, Louisiana . She was educated in the public schools of Holmes County, Mississippi, Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana , and Los Angeles, California. She was employed by Los Angeles until retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Daniels; two sons, Clarence E. Daniels (Peleese) and Fleet L. Daniels (Susan), Amite, LA; her father, Leslie Mabry Sr,. Roseland, LA; five brothers, Edward Mabry (Lynn), Boling Brook, IL, Rev. John M. Mabry (Shirley), Independence, LA, Leslie M. Mabry, Jr., Ed.D, Amite, LA, Rev. Willie E. Mabry (Felicia), Monroe, LA, Eddie J. Mabry (Karen), Atascadero, CA; four sisters, Wardine Gordon (Charles), Baton Rouge, LA, Roxie B. Philmore, Columbus, OH, Shirley Fields (Lawrence), Carson, CA, Mary E. Mabry Holmes, Los Angeles, CA; 10 grandchildren, Mona, Clarence Jr., Monique, Mary, Margarette, Clarence DeJesus, Darrell, Kevin, Laterrence, and Felicia; 7 Great Grandchildren; two aunts, Myrtle Stanford, Chicago, IL and Roxie Nash, Rockford, IL; three Godchildren, Gwendolyn Crenshaw, Los Angeles, CA, Tremayne Mabry and India Johnson , Amite, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her son, Darrell Wayne Daniels, mother, Irene Edwards Mabry, grandparents, Verna Edwards and Tommie Edwards, Karrie Catchings and Tobe Catchings, Leslie Mabry, sister, Annie T. Chatman, and aunt, Lillie C. Lindsey preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Francis Williams will conduct the funeral Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Butler A.M.E. Zion Church, Amite, followed by burial in Butler's Cemetery, Amite.

Constance F. Lupo Giardina

Constance F. Lupo Giardina Died at 3:30 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was a native and a resident of Amite. Age 86 years. Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Services conducted by Fr. Joe Camilleri. interment Mulberry Street Cemetery, Amite.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Triolo, Amite; son, Sal Vince Giardina and wife, Deanna Giardina, Amite; 3 grandchildren, Mike Triolo, Greg Triolo and wife, Marissa Blades Triolo, and Duane Giardina and wife, Dana Giardina; 4 great-grandchildren, Danielle Giardina, Tyler Triolo, Alex Triolo and Ryan Triolo; 2 brothers, Pete Lupo, Amite and Johnny Lupo, Hammond; 4 sisters, Rosalie Carter, Hammond, Mary Hyde, Natalbany, Josie Stevens, Chesbrough and Frances Durio, Amite; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Giardina; 3 brothers, Sam Lupo, Joe Lupo and Gil Lupo; sister, Ella Catalanotto; son-in-law, Carlo Triolo.

David Elbert Hoffpauir

David Elbert Hoffpauir, a Ponchatoula resident and native of Crowley, David Passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at the age of 70.

He was retired with Delta Airlines as a Senior Customer Service Agent and a previous owner of “Promotional Marketing Rainbow Vacuum Cleaners” in Hammond. David served in the Korean Conflict with the United States Army and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. He and his wife, Laura, were volunteers with North Oaks Hospice.

His loving wife, Laura Hoffpauir of Ponchatoula and his devoted daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Higginbotham of Robert survive him. He leaves behind one sister, Juanita Johnson of Winslow, Arizona and a brother, John “Buddy” Hoffpauir of Florida.

He will be sadly missed by his family, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Radford Hoffpauir.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond on Tuesday, March 18th at 12:00 noon with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. interment will be in Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond.

Judy Chapman Lenoir

Judy Chapman Lenoir, 52, of Magnolia, Miss., died March 15, 2008 at 3:55 p.m. at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Her irreplaceable smile and bubbly and exciting personality, and her passionate concern and care for others will be missed forever by all those who knew and loved her.

A homemaker, she was born in Amite to Mavis Gill Chapman and Marshal C. Chapman Sr. She graduated from Woodland High School in St. Helena Parish in 1973.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Lenoir; sons, Chris Lenoir and his wife, Kelly, and Brad Lenoir and wife, Lacey; nephews, Dylan Chapman, Tyler Chapman, Gabriel Chapman, David Henry and Greg Chapman; nieces, Donna Breeland, Marsha Ann Chapman and Jessice Leigh Chapman; brothers, Ted Chapman of Amite; sisters, Linda Breeland Dunn, who was her caregiver, and Helen Faye Chapman Henry; and two grandchildren, Madison Lenoir and Austin Lenoir.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Marshall C. Chapman Jr.

Visitation will be today at First Baptist Church, Magnolia, Miss., until the funeral service at 2 p.m.

Cecil P. McKnight

Cecil P. McKnight, Sr. age 64, formally of Hammond, LA Passed away at his home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma , on March 15, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patsy Anthony McKnight of Sand Springs, Oklahoma ; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Tony & Barbie McKnight of Sand Springs, Oklahoma , Cecil Jr & Sandy of Pensacola Beach, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Eric & Savanah McKnight of Sand Springs, Oklahoma , Kacey & Alexa McKnight of Pensacola, Florida; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald & Terri McKnight of Tylertown, Mississippi, Gary & Mary McKnight of Holden, Louisiana ; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie & Billy Fink of Seminole, Florida, Eva & Jimmy Lard of Holden, Louisiana , Carole Ann & Roger of Livingston, Louisiana . And many other relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Martin McKnight; mom, Margie Williams; step-mom, Eva Courtney McKnight; sister, Betty Carol Addison.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Services will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 20, 2008 with Rev. Jerry Larimand officiating.

Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Tickfaw, Louisiana .

Frank Joseph Michelli

Mr. Frank Joseph Michelli, 75, a native of Hammond and a resident of Hammond, Passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at North Oaks Medical Center, in Hammond.

He was born in Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday, February 18, 1933, son of the late Joseph Michelli and Virginia Dimattia.

Mr. Michelli was a retired Truck Driver.

Survivors include his wife, Linda B. Michelli: daughter, Holly Martin; grandchild, Dennis Martin, III; sister and brother-in-law, Katy and Sal

Locascio, sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Guy Arnone, and a sister, Angie Minkus.

Mr. Michelli was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Ernie Minkus. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church where he also ushered.

Visitation is scheduled Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6 p.m. unitl 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 18th after 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Hank Groover, O.P. celebrtating a Mass of Christian Burial. interment will follow at Rose Memorial Mausoleum.

Herbert J. Naquin

Herbert J. Naquin, 78, Norco; died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 3:03 p.m. at his resident.

He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Shell in Norco after 38 years. He was a PFC with the U.S. Army. He was of the Catholic faith.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of religious services at 11:30 a.m. Fr. Terry Hayden officiating. interment will be at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Hebert Naquin of Norco; three sons, Kenneth Paul, wife, Amy Blice Naquin of Jonesboro, Ark.; Keith Gerard, wife, Jacqueline Veron Naquin of Lutcher; Bert Charles, wife, Robin Kilgore Naquin of Hattiesburg, Miss.; two daughters, Annette Naquin, husband, David “R.D.” Womer of Ponchatoula; and Robin Naquin (Dr. Kent Mauduit of LaPlace; brother, Ray Naquin of Norco; two sisters, Vernell White of Hammond, and Thelma Oubre of Grammercy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Andrea Naquin; three brothers, Edward, Sidney and Louis Naquin; sister, Annie Mae Louque; grandso, Brad David Womer.

A devoted husband for 53 years and a devoted father, parishoner and faithful servant of Sacred Heart Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amercian Cancer Society.
