MARRERO - Cynthia O. Gilliam, 54, a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling for 27 years, died Dec. 12, 2001. She was the wife of Wendel Gilliam and mother of Christine Baudoin, Holly Spitz and Jason Baudoin.

She was the daughter of Henry and Vesta Aucoin Ockman and sister of Gary Ockman.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery, Des Allemands. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

GUIDRY
KENNER - Marlene Marie Guidry, 46, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for 15 years, died Dec. 11, 2001. She was the daughter of E.J. and Laurella Miller Guidry and sister of Susan Guidry-Stoltz.

She was a payroll clerk in the accounting department of T.L. James.

Services were Dec. 14 in the chapel of L.A. Mulheisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Jefferson Memoria Gardens, St. Rose.

HENRY
RESERVE - Julia "Yan" Henry, 85, a native and resident of Reserve, died Dec. 7, 2001. She was the wife of the late Junius Henry and mother of Priscilla Morgan, Theresa "Reese" Gibson, Albert "DeeDee" and Junius "June" Henry Jr. and the late Gwendolyn Savoie.

She was the daughter of the late Emelda Jones and Albert Placide and sister of the late Alma Vampran.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

HILL
BOUTTE - Bridgett Hill, 42, a native and resident of Boutte, died Dec. 9, 2001. She was the daughter of Delores Hill Pollard and the late Melvin Wesley Hill Sr., stepdaughter of James Pollard, sister of Christine, Melvin Jr., Dennis and Dean Hill and stepsister of Jane Kennedy, Elizabeth Dronas, Stephanie Neal and James, Ernest and Broderick Pollard.

She was a courier for the St. Charles Parish Department of Public Works.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

JACKSON
RIVER RIDGE - Julia I. Jackson , 80, a native of Crystal Springs, Miss., and resident of LaPlace for eight years, died Dec. 12, 2001. She was the mother of Gloria Johnson , Lovie Landry, Kathy Hall, Dianna Linson, Cynthia Perkins, Hellane Johnson , John Sweeny, Daniel Funches, Ray Anthony and Collis Linson.

She is survived by 35 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Garden of Memories.

MILLET
METAIRIE - Leo A. Millet, 83, a native of Garyville and resident of New Orleans, died Dec. 7, 2001. He was the husband of the late Mildred Borne.

He was the son of the late Alexander and Leo A. Millet and brother of Jacqueline Kern, Minnette Montegut, Carol Vicknair, Gwendolyn Lemonier and Dorothy, Barbara, Roland, Lyle, David and Jean Millet.

He was a retired federal employee and a World War II veteran.

Services were held Dec. 8 in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

MITCHELL
HOUMA - Ethel London Mitchell, 84, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. James, died Dec. 9, 2001. She was the wife of the late Ridgely Mitchell and mother of Debra Legaux, Elaine Thompson and Harry Sr., Ridgely Jr., Leroy Sr., Nathaniel, Patrick Sr., the Rev. Dr. Blair Sr. and Brian Mitchell.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Harry and Emily Keller London and sister of Clarence Willis and the late Annabelle London Dugas and Curtis London Sr.

She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 14 at Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, Houma, with interment at Burton Street Cemetery, St. James.

PLAISANCE
MARRERO - Rachel P. Plaisance, 74, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Westwego, died Dec. 7, 2001. She was the wife of the late Ovide Plaisance and mother of Barbara and Donald Plaisance.

She was the daughter of the late Leonel and Euzeba Plaisance and sister of Rita Boudreaux, Ethel McCallaster, Verly Borras and Jacob and Gideon Plaisance.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 11 in the chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Holy Sanctified Cemetery, Westwego.

TASSIN
MT. AIRY - Ida Mae Tassin, 70, a resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 9, 2001. She was the mother of Nelson Watkins, Sheila Anderson, Wayne Felton and Mack, Robert and the late Linda James and Kevin, Kenneth and Alfred Dickey.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Clotiel Tassin and sister of the late Doris Burl and Ernest Tassin.

She is also survived by six grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

BAILEY
NEW ORLEANS - Porter Bailey, 83, a native of Edgard and resident of New Orleans for 32 years, died Dec. 13, 2001. He was the father of Earl Bailey Sr.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

He was a sugar cane plantation worker for 30 years and worked for Krauss Department Store for 20 years.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

BARRY
LULING - Loyd Vance Barry Sr., a resident of Luling, died Dec. 15, 2001. He was the husband of the late Thelma "Jackie" Barry and father of Patricia Parker, Yvonne King, Loyd Barry Jr. and the late Sue Bailey.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings and one grandchild.

He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Luling and a 32nd degree Mason.

Services were Dec. 18 at First Baptist Church of Luling, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum.

LOUQUE
PAULINA - Melvin P. Louque, 70, a native and resident of Grand Point, died Dec. 15, 2001. He was the husband of the late Ruth Poche Louque and father of Brenda St. Pierre and Stanley, Greg and Dalton Louque.

He was the son of the late Alcee Sr. and Louise Martin Louque and brother of Enola Brignac, Annabelle Bourgeois, Eunice Poche and Gladys, Alcee "A.J." Jr., John Wayne "T-Coke" and the late Morris Sr. and Newton Louque.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church cemetery.
