Robert Everett Riggs
Robert Everett "Bob" Riggs, 66 years old of Hammond, died Monday, April 3, 2006 at North Oaks Medical Center.
He was born Sunday, August 13, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana , son of the late George Everett and Esther McMorris Riggs.
Surviving are his brother, George Albert Riggs of Hammond;and his two sons, Harvey and David Anthony of Hammond.
Friends will be received Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6 pm until 10 pm and on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 from 8 am until 2 pm.
Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond.
John V. Baiamonte
TICKFAW — John V. Baiamonte, 88 years old of Tickfaw, LA, died Monday, April 3, 2006 in Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center.
John was born Monday, June 18, 1917 in Amite. He worked as a Financial Secretary and Business Agent for Carpenters Union Local #1312 and also worked for the Department of Labor Wage Claims Division.
Surviving are wife, Catherine Giaratano Baiamonte; two sons, John V. Baiamonte Jr. of Fresno, California, and Peter J. Baiamonte of Tickfaw, Louisiana ; granddaughter, Maria Baiamonte of Knoxville Tennessee; sister, Sarah Baiamonte Muscarello of Tickfaw; brother, Joseph Baiamonte of Tickfaw; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Vincent and Josephine Levatino Baiamonte; sisters; Mamie Baiamonte Catalonotto and Phine Baiamonte Pisciotta; brothers, Pete, Santo, Anthony and Frank Baiamonte.
Friends will be received Thursday, April 6 Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m until 9:30 a.m.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw Friday, April 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Restrepo officiating.
interment will follow in the Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery, Tickfaw, Louisiana 70466.
Melvin Robert Childress
NATALBANY — Melvin Robert Childress, 43 years old of Natalbany, LA, died Monday, April 3, 2006 in LSUMC/Lallie Kemp Medical Center.
He was born Friday, November 30, 1962 in Independence. He worked as a truck driver.
Surviving are wife, Sharon White Childress; daughter, Savanna Childress Harris; grandchildren, Hunter and Haylee Harris; brothers, Terry, Steve, Tommy, William and Tracy Childress; sister, Joyce Cryer; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents: James and Dianna Wolfe Childress.
Friends will be received Wednesday, April 5, Harry McKneely & Son Funeral in Ponchatoula from 6 until 10:00 p.m.

Leo Lanier
AMITE — Leo Lanier died at 11:23PM on Monday, April 3, 2006 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA.
He was a native of Roseland, LA and a resident of Amite, LA. Age 84 years. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 1 p.m. on Wednesday until memorial services at 2:00PM Wednesday. Services conducted by Fr. Joe Camilleri.
Survived by wife, Carolyn T. Lanier, Amite, son, Frank "Tommy" Lanier, Prairieville, daughter, Linda Lanier, Millington, Tn., brother, Les D. Lanier, Germantown, TN, sister, Jerry Pulliam, Amite, three grandchildren, Jennifer Lanier, Baton Rouge, Lauren Lanier, Baton Rouge, Michael Lanier, Baton Rouge, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by, parents, Leon T. Lanier and Teresita Marie Reine Lanier, four brothers, two sisters.
Hugh H. Myers
TICKFAW — Hugh H. Myers, 79 years old a long time resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana , died Sunday, April 2, 2006 in North Oaks Medical Center.
Hugh was born Tuesday, January 18, 1927 in San Antonio Texas .
Surviving are a large and loving family, his wife of 60 years, Ola Mae Miles Myers; son and daughter-in-law Robert Edward and Karen Myers, grandaughter, Brenda Watts; two great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Myers; sister, Margaret Myers Golub, both of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by parents: William W. Myers Sr. and Carrie Ella Stinson Myers. Brother: William W. Myers Jr. Sister: Kathryn Myers Schmidt.
Hugh was a happy individual who loved music, and was proud to be a Naval Veteran of World War II, and a former Gideon. He had retired after many years of service at National Life and Accident Co.
Friends will be received Wednesday, April 5 Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 until services. Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Thursday, April 6, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. David Correira officiating.
interment will follow in the Emmaus Cemetery, Albany, LA 70711.
Dorothy Louise Lee Booker
Dorothy Louise Lee Booker, 72, born in Uneedus and a native of Hammond, died April 2, 2006, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
Survivors include her son, the Rev. Andrew L. Jackson ; three daughters, Betty Jackson Marks of Hammond, Dianne Jackson Smith of Seaside, California; and Deborah B. Warford of Amite; three sisters, Mary J. Anderson of Hammond, Samella Lee Mack of Anaheim, California, and Carolyn Route of Killeen, Texas ; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mary Lee; her husband of 40 years Leroy Booker; a sister, Helen C. Johnson ; brother, Willie James Lee.
Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond. Elder Samuel C. Brown will conduct a homecoming celebration Saturday at 11 a.m. at Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at church cemetery.

Brenda Kay Hurley Swafford
Brenda Kay Hurley Swafford, a 56 year old Life Insurance Salesperson of Hammond, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Gulf States Long Term Acute Care of Hammond.
She was born Wednesday, July 20, 1949 in Albon, Michigan, daughter of James George Hurley and the late Sue Elna Tasker Hurley.
Surviving are two daughters, Carla Rae Alack, and Carrie Sue Swafford; son, James Donald Swafford; husband, Carl Ray Swafford; two sisters, Linda Haskell, and Twig Bousfield; brother, Rodney Hurley; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by son, Chad Earl Swafford.

at 3:30 p.m.

Jack Bradford Booth
Jack Bradford Booth, 69 years old of Natalbany, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Northshore Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 13, 1937 in Natalbany, son of the late Harry Lee and Doris Rawls Booth. Mr. Booth was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and retired from Avondale Shipyard.
Surviving are sister-in-law, Barbara Gill Booth of Homer, LA.; three nephews & niece, Ben and Theresa Booth, Jarrod & Lori Booth, Paul & Jaime Booth; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Lee Booth Jr. and Paul Harris Booth.
