Floyd Ray Clausen

Floyd Ray Clausen, 63 years old of Independence, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 at North Oaks Medical Center.

He was born Wednesday, October 28, 1942 in West Texas , son of the late John and May Roussel Clausen.

Surviving are his wife, Giovanna Arnone Clausen; son, Floyd J. Clausen; granddaughter, Samantha B. Clausen; grandson, Joseph M. Clausen all of Independence; and his sister, Myrtle Phelps of West Lake.

He was preceded in death by brother, Grady Payne.

Friends were received Friday, April 7, 2006 from 6 pm until 10 pm and on Saturday, April 8, 2006 from 8 am until 12:30 pm at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond.

Services were held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm with Very Rev. Paul A. McDuffie, V.F. officiating.

interment followed in the Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum in Independence.

Jack Kravat

In loving memory of Jack Kravat, age 74, died April 3, 2006 in Hammond after treatment complications from cancer.

He died peacefully surrounded by family. He was born in Kankakee, Illinois, graduated from St. Patrick's School, served in the U.S. Navy, and married his beloved, wife Janet Graves on July 5, 1952 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church.

In 1985 Janet and Jack moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama and enjoyed their dream of living near the water. Jack's greatest gifts were presiding over Our Lady of the Gulf's altar servers and creating "The Chapel of the Holy Child." Jack was magnetic to children of all ages.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his children, John Kravat, Linda Hooks, Nancy Kerne, Cathy Burns, Kim Nickens, Robin Blanchard and Rick Kravat; twenty-one grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Harriet Kravat, his siblings, Cheryl and Jerry, his son Dale, granddaughter, Lainey, and "Baby Becky."

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to North Oaks Hospice. We are forever grateful for the loving care of the Hospice staff.

Even when Jack could no longer speak, he was able to capture the hearts of those who cared for him through his expressions.

Dennis Gerald Lewis

WALKER — Dennis Gerald Lewis, 50 years old of Walker, La., formerly of St. Bernard died Saturday, April 8, 2006 in North Oaks Medical Center.

Dennis was born Saturday, November 19, 1955 in New Orleans. He worked as an Engineer, crane operator local 406.

Surviving are wife, Terry Hibbs Lewis; daughter, Shannon Melerine; four sons, Preston Asevedo, Damian Asevedo, Brandon Lewis, and Justin Asevedo; mother, Kay Lewis Gagliano; step-father, Blaise Gagliano; brothers, Frank, Terry and Kirk Lewis; three sisters, Rebecca Tipton, Bridgette Chandler-Kronlage, and Kim DeJean; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Father: Frank A Lewis Jr. Brother: Rickie Lewis. Sister: Lisa Lewis.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 11 Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6 until 10:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. John Restrepo, O.P. officiating.

Alice King Timberlake

METAIRIE — Alice King Timberlake entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at her residence in Metairie.

Beloved wife of Robert Timberlake; loving mother of Clarence "Eddie" Timberlake and his wife Gayle; Pamela T. Lipps and her husband Kenny; grandmother of Misty, Eddie, Luke, and Shane Timberlake, Breanna, and Destiny Lipps; five great-grandchildren, also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Patricia Timberlake Hebert.

Mrs. Timberlake was a native of Loranger, La. and lived in the Metairie - Kenner area for the past 43 years.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 11, 2006 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond.

Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.

interment will follow in the Killian Baptist Church Cemetery.

Howard Batiste

AMITE - Howard Batiste, Amite, LA. 72, died March 9, 2006, at his resident in Amite.

Survivors include four sons: Calvin Batiste, Independence, LA., Ronald Batiste, Covington, La., Vernon and Mark Batiste, Amite, La., five daughters: Bertha and Elaine Batiste, Lorraine Griffin, Bobbie Leathers and Stella Zanders, Amite, La. One sister: Stella Mae Howard, Pascagoula, Ms. Forty-two grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Batiste, his parents Stella and Cleveland Batiste Sr. One son, John H. Batiste. One brother, Cleveland Batiste Jr.

Visitation will be Friday at Richardson Funeral Home in Amite from 5 to 9 p.m. The funeral Saturday at McMichael A.M.E. Church in Amite, La.

Burial at Butler Cemetery, Amite.

Kelly John Bovia

MAUREPAS - Kelly John Bovia, an 88 year-old retired farmer and native of Maurepas, Louisiana , died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his residence.

He was born Friday, December 21, 1917, son of the late Steve and Julia LeBourgeois Bovia.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion in Maurepas.

Surviving are son, Kelly J. Bovia, Jr.; daughter, Laura B. Wood; brother, Eugene Bovia; four grandchildren and three great -grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ophelia Lewis Bovia and a daughter, Brenda B. Therio, also three brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen Catholic Church, in Whitehall on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rubin Reynolds, celebrant.

interment will follow in the Maurepas Cemetery, Maurepas, Louisiana , 70449.

Walter Brumfield Jr.

KENTWOOD — Walter "Nick" Brumfield Jr. died on Friday, March 31, 2006 at Soutwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS.

He was a native of St. Helena Parish, LA and a resident of Kentwood, LA. Age 67 years. He was owner of Nick's Dozer Service for 20 years int he Kentwood area and a U. S. Navy Veteran.

Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and at Pine Ridge United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. Mondat until religious services at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Services conducted by Rev. Jim Reid and Rev. Jeff Rankin.

interment Pine Ridge Cemetery, Kentwood, LA. Survived by wife,

Patsy Travis Brumfield, Kentwood, son, Jeffrey Brumfield and wife Roxanne, Kentwood, step-daughter, Tricia Day, Kentwood, grandsons, Eric Brumfield and William Brumfield, 3 sisters, Marguerite Miller, Kentwood, Henrietta Klein, Ponchatoula, Emma Dyson, Nacogdoches, TX, 2 brothers, Robert Brumfield, Norwood, Monroe Brumfield, Amite, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Walter N. Brumfield, Sr. and Jewel Blades Brumfield, brother, Clifton Reed Brumfield, 5 sisters, Launa Mae Smith, Antoinette St. Romain, Barbara Ellen Smith, Audrey Allman, Catherine Raymond.

Ardis Marie Burton

Ardis Marie Burton, 52, a native of Picayune, Miss., died March 29, 2006.

Survivors include her daughter, Alsena Burton and Luandra Burton, both of Hammond and Artis Burton of McComb, Miss.; one sister, Irma Burton Gorman of Hammond; and five grandchildren.

Her mother, Alsena Ross; her father, Ezatta Walls; two daughter, LeeShawn, ReeShawn Burton; and nephew, Cedric C. Gorman, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Monday at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, from 5 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Beacon Light Baptist Church, Hammond.

Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

Carlo Joseph Triolo

AMITE — Carlo Joseph Triolo died at 10:15AM on Friday, March 31, 2006 at his residence in Amite, LA.

He was a native of Independence, LA. Age 67 years. He was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church and a deputy for Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. on Monday until religious services at 11 a.m. Monday. Services conducted by Fr. Joe Camilleri and his cousin Deacon Sammy Bureggi.

interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite, LA. Survived by wife, Pam Giardina Triolo, Amite, 2 sons, Michael Triolo, Baton Rouge, Greg Triolo, Amite, grandson, Tyler Triolo, brother, Joe Triolo, Independence. Preceded in death by parents, John and Rose Triolo. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.

Robert Marshall Vining, 65 years old of Bedico, LA, died Friday, March 31, 2006 Ochsner Foundation Hospital.

Robert was born Tuesday, May 28, 1940 in Bedico. He worked as a welder.

Surviving are wife, Irma Breckwoldt Vining; sons, Robert Alan and Edward Marshall Vining; daughter, Laura Vining Doherty; son in law, Kieron Doherty; grandson, Gabriel Kieron Doherty; granddaughter, Jadie Laura Doherty; brother, Melvin Vining; 2 sisters, Iris Dewitt, and Vera Buroughs; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mamie Perilloux Vining; brother, Irvin Vining.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 4, at Church of God in Bedico from 6 until 10 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until services.

Services will be held at Church of God, Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 11 a.m.

interment will follow in the Morse Cemetery, Bedico, Louisiana 70454.
