LAWTRON EUGENE BARTON JR.
DENHAM SPRINGS -- Lawtron Eugene Barton Jr., 74, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Golden Age Nursing Home.
Born in Clio, he was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Nova Stella Chapter 36, Pine Grove Lodge 288 , Ponchatoula and Knights Templar Commandery 027, Hammond.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Petrere Barton of Springfield; one son, Wendell Marcus Barton of Waller, Texas ; three sisters, Florence Wallace of Maurepas, Velma Davidson of Springfield and Mary Gail Vauclin of Houma; two brothers, Thevis Barton of Marietta, Ga., and Glen Barton of Springfield; two grandchildren, five stepsons and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris E. Jones Barton.
Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 10:30. The Rev. David Whitehead and the Rev. Kenny Bankston will be in charge.
Burial will be at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
LOUIS ANTHONY BERTONE SR.
Louis Anthony Bertone Sr., 84, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Hammond.
A native of Independence, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, John F. Kennedy Council 2952, Hammond, member fourth degree Fr. Martin Assembly 03233, Hammond/Ponchatoula.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Magliolo Bertone of Hammond; one daughter, Mary Louise Bertone Sinagra of Baton Rouge; one son, Louis Anthony Bertone Jr. of Hammond; one brother, Joe Bertone of New York; one sister, Bessie Bertone Graziano of Amite; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Rita Prescia Bertone; three sisters, Mary Formaggio, Lena Taranto and Rita LaRocco; and one brother, Frank Bertone.
The Rev. Marcos Ramos conducted a Mass of Christian burial this morning at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and burial was in Colonial Cemetery
Mausoleum.

JAMES A. ERIKSON
James A. "Wine" Erikson, 56, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., died July, 18, 2004.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Captain Medal along with a sharpshooter and expert badge.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Erikson of Hammond; his mother, Jeannie McDonald of Brooklyn; his father, Arnold Ericksen of Norway; one son, Robert Carl Erikson of Hammond; two sisters, Mary Ann Poplus and Jeannie Erikson, both of Brooklyn; one brother, Steven Williams of Brooklyn; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Daniel Erikson of Pennsylvania .
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Bagnell Funeral Home, Covington, is in charge.
ETHEL MAE GAINEY
Ethel Mae Gainey, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Hammond Nursing Home.
A native of Liberty, Miss., she is survived by her husband, Clinton A. Gainey Jr.; two daughters, Lois Yvonne Gainey of Ponchatoula and Carol Gainey Morgan Corkern of Pumpkin Center; one son, Bobby Gene Gainey of Prairieville; one brother, Lee Carey of Fredricksberg, Va.; one sister, Louise Carey Miller of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie Sterling Carey and Louis Carey; two sisters, Lucille and Tesi Carey; and one brother, Joseph Obie Carey.
The Rev. Stanley Day will conduct the funeral today at 3 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula.
Burial will be at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
MIKE ODOR
PONCHATOULA -- Mike "Mr. Mike" Odor, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005.
He was a medic.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristynn O. Kraner of Pacific Grove, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga King Odor; his parents, Joe and Anna Odor; a brother, Joe Odor; and one sister, Mary Odor King.

DOROTHY BLAND SKEINS
NEW ORLEANS -- Dorothy Bland Skeins, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Lindy Boggs Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of the Willing Workers Homemakers Club of Ponchatoula.
Survivors include her sister, Lou Bland of Ponchatoula.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lakelawn Funeral Home, New Orleans.
CLYDE EVERETT BEDDINGFIELD
Clyde Everett Beddingfield, 61, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Hammond Nursing Home.
A native of Kemper County, Miss., he is survived by four brothers, James Beddingfield of Holden, Haeward Beddingfield of Dekalb, Miss., Bill Beddingfield of Salter City, Calif., and Moses Beddingfield of Kenansville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Edward Beddingfield; one sister, Lillie Mae Quinnelly; and his parents, Bapp Woodley and Margaret Helen Vick Beddingfield.
Visitation will be Friday from noon until the funeral at 2 p.m. at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite. The Rev. Steve Quinnelly will conduct the service.
Burial will be at Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola.
LOUISE BELL
Louise Bell, 54, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005.
The funeral will be Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, and burial will be at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
DOLORES JOSEPH BRIGGS
Dolores "Dodie" Joseph Briggs, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at her home.
She is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuckie" Edward Briggs of Hammond and Daryl Joseph Briggs of Jackson ville, Ala.; seven grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Joseph Lay of Hammond; and one brother, Alfred "Freddie" Joseph Jr. of Hammond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred "Freddie" and Eva Saik Joseph Sr.; and her husband, Merrit Briggs.
Visitation will be Friday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 9 a.m. until Wallace Gainey conducts the funeral at 10.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond.
LILLIE CLARK
PONCHATOULA -- Lillie Clark, 62, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Belle Maison Nursing Home.
She is survived by two daughters, Valenica Clark and Catrina Clark, both of Benton Harbor, Mich.; two sons, Cage Branch Jr. of Dowajiac, Mich., Patrick Clark and James Williams Jr., both of Ponchatoula; one sister, Ola M. Pea of Ponchatoula; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, from 5 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Carl Coleman will conduct the funeral Friday at 11 a.m. at First True Love World Outreach Ministries, Ponchatoula.
Burial will be at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
JAMES RAYMOND CRAWFORD
SPRINGFIELD -- James Raymond "J.R." Crawford, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005.
Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 10 p.m. and at Huff Chapel United Methodist Church, Killian, Friday from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11. The Rev. Ross Clunan will conduct the service, and burial will be at Davidson Cemetery.
ROSIA ELLA CYPRIAN
Rosia Ella Cyprian, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
A native of Baton Rouge, she is survived by six daughters, Rosia Duncan, Gloria Cyprian and Maxine Jackson , all of Hammond, Gracy Williams and Elouise Claiborne, both of Springfield and Willie Mae Cyprian of Benton Harbor, Mich.; three sons, Edwin Cyprian of Kenner, and Claudell Cyprian and Anthony Cyprian, both of Benton Harbor; 36 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Williams; her husband, Willie Cyprian; one sister, Elouise Williams; two brothers, Joseph and Samuel Williams; a daughter, Delores Cyprian; and two grandchildren.
The Rev. Andrew Jackson will conduct the funeral Friday at 7 p.m. at Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Woodhaven, followed by burial at the church cemetery.
