RICHARD STERLING YOUNG FREEMAN

Richard Sterling Young Freeman died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

Survivors include his mother, Heather Freeman of Albany; his father, Richard Sterling Young Jr.; his brother, Shane Freeman; two sisters, Denise and Tabitha Williams; his grandparents, Perry and Crystal Miller, Patricia Freeman and Alice and Richard Young Sr.; and his great-grandmother, June Gordon.

A graveside service was Wednesday at Gatlin Cemetery, Baptist.

Seale Funeral Service, Denham Springs, was in charge.

SYLVESTER JOHNSON

PONCHATOULA -- Sylvester Johnson , 84, a native of Columbia, Miss., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital.

He was a brick layer and a U.S. veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Johnson of Ponchatoula; three daughters, Daphney Williams, Lavetta Johnson and Diana Johnson , all of Ponchatoula; two sons, Cedric Johnson of Hammond and Kentrell Johnson of Tangipahoa.

His parents and one daughter preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at the funeral home at 1 p.m. followed by burial at Holly Garden Cemetery, Hammond.

ADAM JOHN MCMORRIS SR.

PONCHATOULA -- Adam John McMorris Sr., 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

A native of Livingston, he is survived by his wife, Evelyn Achord McMorris of Ponchatoula; three sons, Jerry and Wayne McMorris and Adam "Johnny" McMorris Jr., all of Ponchatoula; one daughter, Sandy Beck of Ponchatoula; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy McMorris of Baton Rouge and Harry McMorris of Texas ; and two sisters, Annie Gordon and Gracie Sawyer of Ponchatoula.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel McAllister McMorris; his father and stepmother, Thomas and Margaret C. McMorris; two brothers, Archie and Billy McMorris; three sisters, Lula Mae Badeaux, Geraldine Scott and Evelyn Strain.

Visitation will be Friday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. The Rev. J. De'L George and the Rev. Charles Bigner will conduct the service.

Burial will be at Sand Hill Cemetery.

WILBERT MITCHELL

Wilbert Mitchell, 66, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Mitchell of Hammond; two daughters, Vanessa Brister and Irma Weber, both of Hammond; three sons, Eddie Breaux and Ringo Mitchell, both of Independence, and Ray Mitchell of Hammond; two sisters, Patricia Duck of Jackson ville, Fla., and Irma Jean Square of Hammond; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond from 6 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Samuel Brown will conduct the funeral Saturday at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, Hammond, at 11 a.m.

Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

INEZ NEAL

WATKINSVILLE, Ga. -- Inez Neal, 94, who was born in Springfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004.

She was a member of Watkinsville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeannie Karen Mullin of Watkinsville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one half sister, Hazel Sanders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Maggie Hano King; and her husband, Roy Arthur Neal.

The funeral was today at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, Watkinsville. The Rev. Beth Larocca-Pitts was in charge.

Burial will be in Hammond.

YVONNE RELEFORD

COVINGTON -- Yvonne Releford, 72, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at St. Tammany Hospital.

She is survived by one daughter, Lirita Hogan of Abita Springs; seven sons, Adrian Laurent Sr. and Aubry Releford, both of Abita Springs, Darrell Laurent and Duane Releford, both of Rochester, N.Y., Jerome Releford of Covington, Donell Releford of Lacombe and Kelvin Releford of Washington ; one brother, Willis Louis Laurent Sr. of Abita Springs; and 19 grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday at Rose Hill Baptist Church, Covington, from 10 a.m. until the Rev. Junis Clark conducts the funeral at 11.

Burial will be at Little Zion Cemetery, Abita Springs.

Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge.

DAVID DEMOND WILLIAMS

David Demond Williams, 30, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004.

He worked as a cashier at the Spur Gas Station in Mandeville.

Survivors include his grandmothers, Louise Felder and Fannie Dantzler, both of Hammond; two sisters, Edna Williams and Tonya Dantzler, both of Albany; and five brothers, Henry, Floyd, Vince and Carl Williams, all of Hammond, and Edward Jones of Miami.

His father, David Dantzler; his mother, Edna Williams; his brother, Bruce Williams; and his grandfathers, Jim Felder and Obie Dantzler, preceded him in death.

The Rev. Leon T. Maryland will conduct the funeral Friday at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Park Baptist Church, Hammond. Dismissal will be Saturday at noon.

Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge.

RICHARD W. DAROUSE

Richard W. "Rick" Darouse, 58, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond.

WILLIE JAMES DOUGHTY

ST. HELENA -- Willie James Doughty, 55, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Huey P. Long Medical Center, Pineville.

Survivors include three daughters, Katrina Johnson of Roseland, Quiwanda and Monica Doughty, both of Amite; two sons, Etoya McGee of Florida and Deseree Johnson of Roseland; three sisters, Willie Mae Griffin, Elmira Selders and Gracie Phillips, all of Amite; five brothers, Robert Doughty of Alexandria, Clemoard and David Doughty and Earnest Edward Jr., all of Amite, and Charles Doughty of Atlanta; and 15 grandchildren.

His wife, Georgia Mae Doughty; his grandmother, Lucy Green; and his grandfather, Willie Green, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Friday at Angelic Funeral Home, Roseland, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Bert Doughty will conduct the funeral Saturday at New Jerusalem Power House COGIC at 1 p.m.

Burial will be at Big Zion Cemetery, Roseland.

SAMMY JOE MAGEE SR.

AMITE -- Sammy Joe Magee Sr., 38, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004 in Amite due to injuries received in an automobile accident.

Survivors include one son, Sammy Joe Magee Jr. of Amite; one daughter, Shelby Jo Magee of Amite; former wife, Billy Jo Magee of Robert; his mother, Sally Jane Smith Caples of Franklinton; two brothers, Willie E. Magee Jr. of Amite and Felix A. Lucito of Robert; six sisters, Joanicha b. Lucito, Selyna Lucito, Carey Crosby, Shonnon M. Caples and Shannon Caples, all of Franklinton, and Chrystal M. Smith of Angie; and his grandfather, Mavis Magee of Franklinton.

Visitation will be Sunday at Crain Funeral Home, Franklinton, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 3 p.m.

Burial will be at Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek.

JERRY SHELTON ADAMS

PUMPKIN CENTER -- Jerry "Poppie" Shelton Adams, 63, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge.

Details are incomplete. Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge of arrangements.

WALTER O. BRITT JR.

Walter O. Britt Jr., 51, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

The Hammond resident was a native of Natchez, Miss.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Britt of Hammond; his mother, Margie Bailey of Baton Rouge; two sons, Jeremiah Britt of Hammond and Lance Normand of Albany; two daughters, Lisa Starkey of Pumpkin Center and Sheri Blakeney of Las Vegas; one brother, Eugene Britt of Houston; four half-brothers, Phil Kuhin of Houston and John, Chris and Jamie Britt of Houston; two sisters, Mary Jane Jackson of Wisner and Linda Darlene Martin of Madison, Neb.; two half-sisters, Lisa and Patricia Britt of Houston; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter O. "Pete" Britt Sr., and his brother, David Britt.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Natchez.

Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge of the arrangements.
