RUBY GATLIN TRAYLOR

PUMPKIN CENTER -- Ruby Gatlin Traylor, 94, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Belle Maison Nursing Home.

She attended Trinity Baptist Church and was a native of Pumpkin Center.

She is survived by two sons, Gordon Dell and James Douglas Traylor, both of Pumpkin Center; four daughters, Emma Nell Gay of Natchez, Miss., Catherine Addison and Patricia Young, both of Hammond, and Piney Rose Dominguez of Pumpkin Center; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Willie Dunn of Natalbany and Helen Deluane and Esther Soape, both of Pumpkin Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Traylor; five grandchildren; her parents, Thomas Green Beecher and Rose Bigner Gatlin; two sisters, Eunice Prevost and Eloise DePaula; and one brother, Beecher V. Gatlin.

Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral at Trinity Baptist Church, Hammond, at 10 a.m.

Burial will be at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.

RAYMOND ARMSTRONG JR.

U.S. Air Force veteran Raymond Armstrong Jr., 74, died Sunday May 30, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital.

A native of New Augusta, Miss., he was retired.

He is survived by his wife, Cora Armstrong; one daughter, Beverly Armstrong of South Carolina; one son, Raymond Armstrong III of South Carolina; one sister, Lillie Chandler of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Rev. John Burris will conduct the funeral Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Church of Holiness, Hammond.

Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

CHRISTOPHER A. BUCKHALTER

AMITE -- Christopher A. Buckhalter, 31, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Pitts Buckhalter of Amite; one son, Bryce Selders; one stepson, Brian Pitts of Amite; two daughters, Christal Brown and Chassidy Richardson, both of Amite; one stepdaughter, Dynasty Pitts of Amite; three sisters, Shawonda Edwards of Vista, Calif., and Dnitrika Buckhalter and Robyn Lasha Williams, both of Amite; one brother, Moreal Buckhalter of Amite; his mother and stepfather, Ethel Mae Buckhalter Boreaux and Ulysess Boreaux, both of Amite; and his father, Robert Williams of Roseland.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite. The Rev. Francis Williams will conduct the funeral Saturday at noon at Butler Chapel AME Zion Church, Amite.

Burial will follow at Mt. Canaan Cemetery, Roseland.

RAYMOND MICHAEL CLAUSEN

PONCHATOULA -- Raymond Michael "Mike" Clausen Jr., 57, died Sunday, May 31, 2004, at Baylor University Medical Center from complications from liver disease.

The Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, was a native of New Orleans.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 28 years, Lois Clausen of Ponchatoula; his brothers, USMC retired Gunnery Sgt. Carl Clausen of Hammond, and former Marine Erdwin Clausen of Manila, Philippine Islands; and his sister, Christine Clausen Ballard of Albany.

His parents, Mary and Raymond M. Clausen Sr.; and one brother, Jerry Clausen, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, and Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula.

The family will receive friends at the Fleur de Lis in Ponchatoula following burial at Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Mike Clausen Memorial Fund, First Community Bank, 600 S.W. Railroad Ave., Hammond, LA 70403, Attention: Vivian Brown.

CHRISTINE LEONARD HARRISON

AMITE -- Christine Leonard Harrison, 81 died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Tangi Pines Nursing Center, Amite.

She was the wife of the late Governor Harrison.

Visitation will be Friday at Richardson's Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at Gordon-Richardson Temple of Deliverance COCIG, Amite, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Big Zion Cemetery, Roseland.

DORETHA DAVIS MCGARY

HAMMOND -- Doretha Davis McGary, 76, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at her home.

A deaconess and member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, she was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, Henry McGary Jr.; seven daughters, Linda Carter, Loretta McNeil, Joann McGary and Wanda McGary, all of Lakeland, Fla., Doris Peters, Diane Harris and Lorraine Brumfield, all of Hammond; one sister, Clara Spears of Hammond; three brothers, the Rev. Lionel Davis and Hertis Davis, both of Clinton, Iowa, and John Davis of Ponchatoula; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Her mother, Dora Guarain Davis; her father, Lionel Davis Sr.; one brother, Ivy Davis; and one sister, Juanita Scott, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be tonight at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, Ponchatoula, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Mack McCraney will conduct the funeral Friday at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Cooper Cemetery, Robert.

Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, is in charge.

ANTHONY J. PEREZ

AMITE -- Anthony J. Perez, 83, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at his home near Amite.

A native of Baton Rouge, he was a retired sewage superintendent for the city of Kenner.

He is survived by his wife, Alice L. Perez of Amite; one daughter, Aleta Keeling of Amite; one sister, Josie Currier of Amite; one brother, Mike Perez of Amite; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuella and Sam Perez; three sisters, Angelina D'Antoni, Mary Misita, and Lean Bravata; and four brothers, Sam and Frank Buccere, and Henry Perez and Dominick Perry.

The Rev. Jack Nutter conducted the funeral today at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite. Burial will be at Amite Cemetery, Amite.

Memorial donations may be made to North Oaks Hospice, P.O. Box 2668, Hammond, LA 70404.

MILTON W. ROGERS

NATALBANY -- Milton W. Rogers, 78, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center, New Orleans.

He was a U.S. military veteran having served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by two brothers, Roy Rogers of New York and William Rogers of Natalbany; and four sisters, Mittie Ridgel, Margie Nickens, Lucille Deli and Ella Dennison, all of Natalbany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stone Rogers Sr. and Levia Crayton Rogers; three brothers, George, Harry and Stone Rogers Jr.; and three sisters, Helen, Gloria and Mildred Rogers.

Visitation will be Friday at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11.

Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery.

FRED G. STIRGUS III

Fred G. Stirgus III, 22, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the Medical Center of Louisiana , New Orleans.

Survivors include two brothers, Ojore Lemar and Moyenda Stirgus, both of New Orleans; one sister, Maliaka Franklin of Atlanta; his grandmother, Lorenza Johnson of New Haven, Conn.; and his grandfather, Fred G. Stirgus Sr. of LaPlace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patra Lemar and Fred G. Stirgus Jr.; and his grandmother, Ophelia Stirgus.

Visitation will be Saturday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Tickfaw, from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Wilbard Jones.

Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

MJR Friendly Service Funeral Home, Denham Springs, is in charge.

JOSEPH DOLAR CAMBRE

GREENSBURG -- Joseph Dolar Cambre, 93, died Monday, May 31, 2004, at St. Helena Parish Nursing Home, Greensburg.

He was a carpenter and a native of Belle Point.

He is survived by four stepsons, Joel A. Davis of Baton Rouge, James A. Davis of Destrahan, Aubrey Thomas Davis of Montpelier and David M. Davis of Houston; and three sisters, Clothidle Thibodeaux of Fordoche, Odile Dufrene and Rose Mary Catalanotto, both of Marrero; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna May Cambre; his second wife, Myrth Borne Davis Cambre; and three brothers, Henry, Felix and Roger.

The Rev. Jack Nutter conducted the funeral today, and burial was at Amite Cemetery, Amite.

McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, was in charge.
