STEPHEN TROY MCNEIL

GREENSBURG -- U.S. Navy veteran Stephen Troy "Steve" McNeil, 35, died Sunday, Oct. 3,, 2004, at his home.

He is survived by a son, Acea; his mother and father, Patricia G. and Lewis McNeil of Greensburg; one sister, Charlene Hydock of Suffolk, Va.; and one brother, Jeremy McNeil of Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alfred and Mary Cantrell; his paternal grandparents, John Paul McNeil and Rose and Bill Chester; and one brother.

Visitation will be Thursday at New Beginning Outreach Ministries, Greensburg, from 4 p.m. until a memorial service at 7.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Beginning Outreach Ministries-Second Step Program of Greensburg, 395 Museum Road, Greensburg, LA 70441.

McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, is in charge.

ROSA LEE ROUSSEAU PICOU

MAUREPAS -- Rosa Lee "Neat" Rousseau Picou, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

A native of Maurepas, she is survived by one son, Eugene Joseph Picou Jr. of Maurepas; one daughter, Mary Ellen Brown of French Settlement; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Wakefield of Gonzales; and one stepbrother, the Rev. Johnnie Hernandez of Ponchatoula.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Joseph Picou Sr.; one son, Elton J. Picou; one daughter, Ella Mae Brignac; four brothers, Sidney, Ambrose, Elmond and Melton Rousseau; one sister, Lela Vicknair; his parents, Walter and Clotile Pinion Rousseau.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 11.

Burial will be at Maurepas Cemetery.

AUSTIN ELLIOTT SMITH

ROBERT -- Austin Elliott Smith, an infant, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington.

He is survived by his parents, Roy Elliott and Sharon James Smith II of Robert; one brother, Dakotah James Smith; one sister, Ami Rae Smith; his paternal grandparents, Roy Elliot and Wilda Robertson Smith Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Bobby Ray and Edith Lois Lavigne James; and his paternal great-grandmother, Ollie Austin Robertson.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Elliott Claude and Viola Witty Smith and Lawrence Robertson; and his maternal great-grandparents, Melvin Henry and Amy Edmonds James and Robert Ball and Inez Lenel Lavigne.

The Rev. Danny Cook conducted a graveside service today at May Edwards Cemetery, Bedico.

OTTO STOKES JR.

CENTURY, Fla. -- Otto Stokes Jr., 67, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in Atmore, Ala.

A native of Kentwood and a former resident of Pensacola, Fla., he was retired from Pensacola Parks and Recreation. He attended Chesbrough Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lindsey Stokes of Century; three sons, Robert Earl Gafford Sr. of Holt, Fla., J.W. Gafford of Century and Ottos Stokes III of Pensacola; two daughters, Barbara Ann Flowers of Pensacola and Ruby Patricia Tolbert of Brewton, Ala.; two brothers, Aubrey Stokes of Tangipahoa and Carley Stokes of Mount Hermon; five sisters, Annie Stokes Jones, Laverne Stokes Wall and Margaret Stokes Magliolo, all of Hammond, Dorothy Stokes Googe of Baton Rouge and Lexie Stokes Easley of Loranger; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Stokes Sr. and Cora Lee Lebo Stokes; and one brother, James.

The Rev. Gene Stokes conducted the funeral Monday at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Century, and burial was at Bay Minette Cemetery.

LELA C. BARCELONA

Lela C. Barcelona, 72, a native of Baton Rouge, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

She was member of Good News Fellowship.

She is survived by one son, Johnnie J. Barcelona Jr. of Hammond; four sisters, Larkie Lowery of Amite, Agnes Badon and Ruth White , both of Hammond, and Lovie Snyder of Covington; one brother, R.J. Cutrer of Miami; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Joseph Barcelona; one daughter, Janice Theresa Barcelona Hullinghorst; one sister, Mary Jane Mullington; six brothers, Roy, Clem, J.C., Douglas, Jessie and Leroy Cutrer.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Mike Vaughn.

Burial will be a Roselawn Memorial Park.

Donations may be made to the Baton Rouge City Police. A memorial fund has been established, and donations may be mailed to 704 Mayflower St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.

CLINTON ROY MIZELL

PONCHATOULA -- Clinton Roy "Strauberry" Mizell, 50, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Tech Regional Medical Center, Morgan City.

A native of Ponchatoula, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Bates Mizell; his mother, Dorothy Mae Mizell of Gulfport, Miss.; his son, Brad Daniel Mizell of Germany; his daughter, Nicole Mizell of Noonan, Ga.; one stepson, Jason Schmolke of Ponchatoula; three stepdaughters, Belinda Schmolke of Bogalusa and Karen and Trudy Schmolke, both of Covington; one brother, Troy Mizell of Covington; three sisters, JoAnn King of Covington, Faye Molsbee of Gulfport, Miss., and Argie Rivers of Jackson , Ala.; and 10 grandchildren.

His father, Clinton Leroy Mizell Sr., preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Tuesday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m.

Burial will be at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.

FRANCES TOBIN SMELKO

Frances Tobin Smelko, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.

A native of Atlanta, she was the first woman to serve on Trumbull County Board of Health and a member of the county and state and national school food service. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving as treasurer and president. She also served as treasurer of the Oapse Chapter 539 of Lakeview schools; and was past member of Cortland Children's Conservation League.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Smelko Cleal of Cortland, Ohio, and Sonya Smelko Murphy of Ponchatoula; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Smelko; her parents, James and Ardell Palmer Tobin; one sister, Lenore Williams; and one brother, Earl C. Standish.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Shafter-Winans Funeral Home, Cortland, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. until the funeral at 2.

Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Cortland.

RICKEY GINN

Rickey Ginn, 43, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004.

A native of Fluker, he worked as a sandblaster.

He is survived by his wife, Monique Ginn; five daughters, Diona Shepard of Ponchatoula, Nikoi Johnson of Baton Rouge, Tiesha Oliver of Hammond and Ramesya Haywood and Lorin Ginn, both of Hattiesburg, Miss.; four sons; Rickey Johnson of Baton Rouge, Ricky and Joseph Oliver, both of Hammond, and Laramie Ginn of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Donald Ray Ginn of Hammond and Richard Earl Ginn of Richmond, Tenn.; and his father, W. Ginn of Fluker.

His mother preceded him in death.

Visitation will be today at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite, from 3 to 5 p.m. The Rev. Morris Payne will conduct the funeral Saturday at 1 p.m., and burial will be at Ginn Cemetery, Arcola.

BRYAN J. LEHMANN III

COVINGTON -- Bryan "Bubba" J. Lehmann III, 53, an electrician, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

He was a native of Norco.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Arrington Lehmann; three sons, Justin Lehmann, David and Daniel Mulina; three daughters, Tammie Wood, Melissa Courouleau and Gina Davis; one sister, Anne Gayle; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan J. Lehmann Jr. and Anne Gayle Lehmann.

The funeral was Thursday. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge.

JAMES EDWARD MARTIN

James Edward Martin, 45, an employee at Quinn's Texaco, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Lallie Kemp Hosptial, Independence.

A native of New Orleans, he is survived by his mother, Mattie Lou Ware Martin of Hammond.

His father, James Edwin Martin, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Saturday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 4 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at 7.

JAYLEN RICKS

SLIDELL -- Jaylen Ricks, 2 months, 28 days old, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004.

Survivors include her mother, LaShawndra Ricks; two sisters, LaKindra and Renisha Ricks; and two brothers, James C. and Joshua L. Ricks.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. The Rev. James L. Ricks will officiate, and burial will be at Ricks Family Cemetery.

Angelic Funeral Home, Roseland, will be in charge.
