MARY LOU ETHRIDGE
PONCHATOULA -- Mary Lou Ethridge, 82, a native of Smithdale, Miss., died at her home, Monday, Oct. 25, 2004.
She was a registered nurse for 50 years, a volunteer nurse for the American Red Cross and a foster mother.
Survivors include one son, Harold Ethridge Jr. of Walker; three daughters, Lynn Hoover and Janey Duncan, both of Ponchatoula, and Timmie Korn of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Earl Nettles of Springfield and the Rev. James Nettles of Ponchatoula; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one foster son, Stephen Frutuozo of Franklinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ethridge; her parents, Charles and Dennie Mathews Nettles; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Steve Wells conducts the funeral at 10.
Burial will be at Nettles Family Cemetery, Smithdale, Miss.
JOHN PAUL TARVER SR.
MAGNOLIA, Miss. -- Visitation will be tonight at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 to 9 p.m. for John Paul Tarver Sr.
Tarver, 51, a truck driver, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at his home near Magnolia. He was a native of Tangipahoa and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Tonya Tarver of Magnolia, Miss.; five sons, Michael Tarver of Magnolia, Chris Tarver of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., John P. Tarver Jr. of Kentwood, John Newman of Hammond and Glen Bickford of Ponchatoula; five daughters, Jennifer Tarver of Amite, Peggy Tarver of Mount Hermon, Michelle Tarver of Birmingham, Ala., Melissa Newman Stewart of Albany and Kathy Newman Roberts of Tickfaw; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Frances Lebo of Tangipahoa, Elaine Parker of Broussard; and three brothers, Richard "Bob" Tarver of Picayune, Miss., James Tarver of Richmond, Va., and Cecil Tarver of Satsuma.
Further visitation will be Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Jim Howell officiating.
LARKIE CUTRER LOWERY
AMITE -- Larkie Cutrer Lowery, 94, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
A native of Washington Parish, she was a housewife.
Survivors include her daughter, Jessie Jane Lowery of Amite; one son, Jesse O'Donnall Lowery of Collins, Ark; one brother, R.J. Cutrer of Homestead, Fla.; three sisters, Agnes Badon and Ruth White of Hammond and Lovie Snyder of Covington; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lowery; her parents, Ettie Carter Cutrer and Joe Cutrer; two sisters, Mary Jane Mulligan and Lelia Barcelona; six brothers, Roy, J.C., Clem, Jessie, Leroy and Douglas Cutrer; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Matt Pierson conducts the funeral at 11.
Burial will be at Lowery Cemetery, Amite.
KEVIN SMITH
PONCHATOULA -- Kevin "Austin" Smith, 10, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, as a result of a house fire.
Survivors include his father, Kevin L. Smith of Ponchatoula; two half-sisters, Heather Smith of Hammond and Kellie Smith of Ponchatoula; his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Stella Draemer and Donald Lee of Ponchatoula; his maternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Henry "Joey" and Arlene Kraemer of Venice; and his paternal grandmother, Carol Smith of Ponchatoula.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Stephanie Kraemer Smith; his sister, Taylor Rose Smith; and his paternal grandfather, Clyde Smith.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Geisler Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 2 p.m. followed by burial at Ponchatoula Cemetery.

PONCHATOULA -- Stephanie Kraemer Smith, 32, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, as the result of a house fire.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin L. Smith of Ponchatoula; her mother and stepfather, Stella G. Kraemer and Donald Lee of Ponchatoula; her father and stepmother, Henry J. "Joey" and Arlene Kraemer of Venice; two stepdaughters, Heather Smith of Hammond and Kelli Smith of Ponchatoula; and one brother, Terry Kraemer of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin "Austin" Smith; her daughter, Taylor Rose Smithe; her maternal grandparents, John and Rose Stevens Gebia; and her paternal grandparents, Henry J. Sr. and Yvonne Loupe Kraemer.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Geisler Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 2 p.m. followed by burial at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
TAYLOR ROSE SMITH
Taylor Rose Smith, 8, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, as the result of a house fire.
Survivors include her father, Kevin L. FAIRY TATE TRAVIS VIOLA
PRAIRIEVILLE -- Fairy Tate Travis Viola, 74, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, in Gonzales.
A native of Tangipahoa, she was a teacher and a member of the Eastern Star, Greensburg Chapter 1580.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Easley of Prairieville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, George Tate, Casey Tate and James "Baby" Tate, all of Tangipahoa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Travis; her second husband, Joe Viola; her mother, Bessie Hurst Tate; and one son, Kenneth Milton Travis.
Visitation will be tonight at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 5 p.m. until the Rev. Dennis Mitchell conducts the funeral at 8. Visitation will continue Tuesday at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. The Rev. Johnny Rogers will officiate.
CHARLES THOMAS CANDIOTTO
MADISONVILLE -- Charles Thomas Candiotto, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004.
He was a native of Independence and a resident of Madisonville for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Talley Candiotto; his daughter, Talley Ann Candiotto; his sisters, Victoria Candiotto Iverstine, Hope Candiotto Estopinol, Faith Candiotto Moreau, Alyne Candiotto Anazalone; his brother, Jack Candiotto; and one grandson.
Visitation will be Monday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home in Covington from 11 a.m. until the funeral at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Talley Cemetery, Sun.
HALLIE DYSON
KENTWOOD -- Hallie Dyson, 91, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Hood Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Kentwood, a home maker and a member of Mt. Herman Methodist Church.
Survivors include six cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ernestine Dyson; and her parents, Alma Dyson and Floyd Dyson.
The funeral was Saturday at Hartman Funeral Home, McComb, Miss. Burial was in Roberts Cemetery
in Kentwood.
GLADYS BROWN EDWARDS
ANDERSON, IND. -- Gladys Brown Edwards, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at the residence of her granddaughter in Anderson.
She lived in Anderson for the past year and was a former resident of Hammond since 1984. She was devoted to her son for 34 years after his automobile accident. She loved to cook and crochet and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and reading her Bible.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Edwards McKay of Hammond; her son, Harold Davidson Edwards Jr. of Anderson; her sister, Nell Renegar of Alexandria; and her brother, Clyde Brown of Pollock; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Harold Davidson Edwards Sr.; her daughter, Ann Edwards Mahfouz; and her 13 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Hixson Brothers in Pineville from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. The Rev. Lee Hollingsworth and the Rev. Bennie Hollingsworth will conduct the service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Pineville.
GARY LYNN HUESCHEN
AMITE -- Gary Lynn Hueschen, 57, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at his sister's home in Amite.
He was a native of New Orleans and a diesel engineer. He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Navy in Vietnam on the USS Ranger CVA61 and suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his son, Craig Hueschen of Kenner; his siblings, Joan H. Watson of Amite and Ronald Hueschen of Covington; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Hueschen; his son, Randy Hueschen; his sister, Helen Walgotte; and his parents, Ennid and Cecilia Lawrence Hueschen.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Arcola-Roseland Cemetery. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, is in charge of the arrangements.
JOHN WILLIAM TRENT
John William Trent, 62, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at his Hammond residence.
He was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., and a mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Davis Trent of Hammond; his sons, John Trent Jr. of Florida and James Trent of Georgia; his daughters, Kathy Thornton of Georgia and Pam Mullins of Indiana; his mother, Gladys Tankersly Trent Knox of Virginia; his brothers, Roy, David and Robby Trent, all of Tennessee; his sister Ruthie Russell of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His father, Barney E. Trent; his brother, Ronald Trent; his sister, Sybil Land; and one grandchild preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Tuesday at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula from 8 a.m. until the Rev. Billie Kennedy conducts the funeral at 10. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery
in Ponchatoula.
