GRACY JEAN CHANEY
Gracy Jean Chaney, 50, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004.
She was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Harrison Lewis of Hammond; one daughter, Angela Chaney of Hammond; three sons, Craig, Corey and Brad Lewis, all of Hammond; three sisters, Sarah Carter, Brenda Daniels and Linda Michelli, all of Hammond; three brothers, Thomas Ard and Johnny Carter, both of Hammond, and Willie Ard of Clinton; and nine grandchildren.
Her mother and a brother preceded her in death.
Visitation will be tonight at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9. The Rev. Leroy Taylor will conduct the funeral Saturday at Greater Rosehill Baptist Church at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at Holly Garden Cemetery, Hammond.
PATRICK HAMMONS
CHESBROUGH -- Patrick "Pete" Hammons, a native of Amite, 61, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
A retired offshore worker for Dow Chemical Co. and a beef cattle farmer, he is survived by his wife, Janet Ard Hammons of Chesbrough; two sons, Patrick Hammons of San Diego and David Hammons of Baltimore; two grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy Wilson of Shreveport and Donnie Hammons of Roseland; and one sister, Mary Prescott of Kentwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Doris Dunn Hammons.
The Rev. Gary Weiborg conducted the funeral today at Roseland Baptist Church, Roseland.
Burial will be at Arcola-Roseland Cemetery, Arcola.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roseland Baptist Church Benevolent Fund of Sumner High School Book Fund.

GEORGE RAY KNIGHT
ROBERT -- George Ray Knight, 44, a native of Natalbany, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
He is survived by his son, Mitchel Knight of Texas ; three daughters, Bridgette K. Compton of Hammond, Georgette Knight of Independence and Tiffany K. Bannick of Robert; four grandchildren; three sisters, Linda K. Coats of Albany, Mary Elizabeth Desmond of Hammond, and Terry K. Knight of Mississippi; and two brothers, Glen and Gary Knight, both of Ponchatoula.
His parents, the Rev. Jesse and Lois Welch Knight; three brothers, Wilson, Larry and Jerry Knight; and two sisters, Rhoda K. Pittman and Delores K. Pierre, preceded him in death.
Burial will follow a graveside service at Howell Cemetery
Saturday at 10 a.m.

JOSEPH RAY PERRIN
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Joseph Ray Perrin, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Florida Presbyterian Homes Nursing Home, Lakeland, Fla.
Born in Ponchatoula, he was a chemist with Estech and Swift and Company Phospate.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lakeland, and was the founding parishioner of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bartow. He was also a former member of Bartow Public Library Board; and a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in chemistry.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Perrin of Lakeland; two sons, Gene Perrin of Bristol, Tenn., and John Perrin of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Susanna Merritt of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Edna Perrin of Ponchatoula; one brother, Pat Perrin of Shreveport; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow, Fla., from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bartow. The Rev. Robert Susanne will conduct the service.
Burial will follow at the Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.

BRENDA ROWDON
BATON ROUGE -- Brenda Rowdon, 53, a housewife, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Louisiana Guest House, Baton Rouge.
She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Sanchez of Amite; two sons, Jason and Eric Rowdon, both of Amite; two brothers, Joe Braddy and Stanley Braddy, both of Amite; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Cora Peek Braddy.
A memorial service will be Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Amite, at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Evergreen Crematory, Denham Springs.

THAD HOWARD WATERS
ATHENS, Ga. -- A memorial service for Thad Howard "Muddy" Waters will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Hammond.
Water, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home in Athens.
A native of Tioga, he was a longtime resident of Hammond and was an agriculture teacher and principal at Hammond High School.
He became the first commissioner of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, serving from 1953 until he retired in 1971.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Muddy Waters Scholarship Fund, in care of the Louisiana Tech Foundation, P.O. Box 3183, Ruston, LA 71273.

GERTRUDE LAMENDOLA
TICKFAW -- Sister Gertrude Lamendola, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Baton Rouge.
Sister Gertrude grew up in Baton Rouge and entered St. Gertrude's Monastery in Covington and made her vows there in 1934 and her perpetual vows in 1938. The first phase, the longest of her consecrated life, was spent teaching kindergarten and early primary grades.
The second phase of her consecrated life began in 1991 when she transferred to Our Lady Queen Monastery and made solemn vows as a Benedictine nun in 1992. The third phase of her consecrated life was spent in giving all through suffering Alzheimers disease and needing 24-hour care.
Survivors include her sister, Rosalie Gagnard of Batchelor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Angela Ruli Lamendola; and two brothers, Vincent Lamendola and the Rev. Francis Lamendola.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen Monastery, Tickfaw.
The funeral will be Tuesday at the monastery at 10:30 a.m., with burial in the monastery cemetery.

BESSIE LEE ROBINSON
Bessie Lee Robinson, 93, born in New Orleans and a resident of Heritage Manor Nursing Home of Hammond, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond.
Earlier in her career, she had been employed as a designer for Valmy Garment Company and attended school at the Academy of Design in New York.
She was retired from the staff at Southeastern Louisiana University, a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hammond where she had been a deacon and served on numerous committees, active on the board of the Tangipahoa and Hammond Humane Society, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and involved with garden clubs.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson; and one sister, Edith Robinson, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Tuesday at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 9 a.m. until James Stayton conducts the funeral at 10.
Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.
Memorial donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Ginger Ford Habitat for Humanity or a charity of one's choice.
JEFFREY SCOTT SIMMONS
CHESBROUGH -- Jeffrey Scott Simmons, 38, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Amite in a car accident.
A native of Kentwood, he was an electrician.
Survivors include two daughters, Samantha and Angel Simmons, both of Loranger; one son, Joshua Simmons of Loranger; two sisters, Maureen Downey of Amite and Marilyn Yaun of Chesbrough; and two brothers, John Hillary Simmons Jr. of Chesbrough and Ted Simmons of Amite.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Ricks Simmons Stevens; and his father, John Hillary Simmons Jr.
Visitation will be Monday at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. The Rev. John Fulda will conduct the service.
Burial will be at Bankston-Simmons Cemetery, Chesbrough.
