LUCILLE MILLER

PONCHATOULA -- Lucille Miller, 77, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge.

Arrangements and funeral home information are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.

ALBERT JOSEPH MONISTERE SR.

Albert Joseph "Black Albert, Dynamite" Monistere Sr., 82, a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Sara A. Monistere of Hammond; a son, Albert J. Monistere Jr. of Hammond; a daughter, Kimberly Ditta of Holden; two stepsons, James Fuller of San Antonio and James E. Moak Jr. of Montpelier; two stepdaughters, Thelma Veola Barlow of Baptist and Sara Faye Dodd of Hammond; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sal and Nat Monistere of Hammond; three sisters, Mary Siciliano of Phoenix, Marianna Mayeaux and Pelegrina Ledet, both of Hammond.

His parents, Joseph and Ninfa Nicolosi Monistere; three brothers, Christopher J. Vincent L. and Anthony G. Monistere; a sister, Katherine M. Strack; and several grandchildren, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely and Son in Hammond tonight from 6 until 10 and Saturday from 8 until 9:45 a.m. The funeral will be at Holy Ghost Church Saturday at 10 a.m., and burial will be in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery.

JOSIE OLIVIA

Josie Olivia, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at North Oaks Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond.

W.R. JOHNSON

BATON ROUGE -- W.R. "Riley" Johnson , 99, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Lane Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Oakdale and member of the Plumbers and Steam-fitters Local #198. He was also a member of the Harding Street Baptist Church of Baker.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Duplessis of Baton Rouge; his son, Vernon L. Johnson of Hammond, a sister, Eula Amrhein of Mandeville; and 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

His wife, Rena Fontenot Johnson , preceded him in death as did his daughter, Lois Jean Johnson ; a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home tonight from 5 to 8 and Monday from 9 a.m. until the Rev. Chris Maynard conducts the service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

KEITH GERARD LEMOINE

METAIRIE -- Keith Gerard Lemoine, 50, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at his residence.

He was a native of Cottonport and a 40-year resident of Metairie.

Survivors include his father, Steven Lemoine; three sons, Brent M., Jeffrey S. and Ryan F. Lemoine; two brothers Gary S. and Scott J. Lemoine; and his sister, Diane L. Gaspard.

His mother, Bertha Soldani Lemoine, preceded him in death.

Visitation and the funeral service were held Saturday at Kenner Funeral Home of L.A. Muhleisen & Son.

JOSEPHINE LALUMIA OLIVIA

Josephine "Josie" Lalumia Olivia, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center.

She was a native of Hammond and member of the K.C. Ladies Auxiliary and Woodmen of the World. She was also past president of the Hospital Guild Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Nicholas "Nick" Olivia Jr. of Hammond; her daughters, Marsha Lupo of Hammond and Marie Dunlap of Oklahoma City; her sisters, Virginia Ann Lalumia of Hammond and Mary Monistere of Baton Rouge; and seven grandchildren.

Her husband, Nicholas Olivia Sr., and her sister, Lena Chavers preceded her in death.

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, tonnight from 6 to 10 and Monday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Rose Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation, 16013 Halbert Lane, Hammond, 70403.

WILLIAM FREDERICK ROBINSON JR.

ALGIERS -- William Frederick Robinson Jr., 53, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, in Algiers.

A native of New Orleans, he worked as a heating and air conditioning technician.

He had one son, Brenden Robinson.

His parents, William F. Robinson Sr. and Juanita Adams Robinson, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, is in charge of the arrangements.

JAMES SIMMONS SR.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- James "Tampa" Simmons Sr., 74, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was a native of Springfield and retired as an employee of General Motors for 33 years. He was a veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 148 in Fort Wayne and a member of the Retired Men's Club.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Simmons of Fort Wayne; his step-mother, Jessie Simmons of Springfield; two daughters, Linda Kirk of Baton Rouge, and Patricia Johnson of Fort Wayne; a son, James Simmons of Fort Wayne; four sisters, Alice Green and Flora Simmons, both of Springfield, and Lillian James and Mildred Sanders, both of Hammond; seven brothers, Lawrence Willis, Thomas and Jerry Simmons, all of Springfield, Willie and Louis Simmons, both of Fort Wayne, Charley Simmons of Hartford, Conn., and the Rev. Leroy Taylor of Denham Springs; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Phyllis Simmons Gregory, preceded him in death as did sisters Estell Harvey and Ada Berry and brothers Landry, Dan and Theodore Simmons.

Visitation will be Greater Progressive Baptist Church in Fort Wayne tonight from 6 to 8. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.

Ellis Funeral Home in Fort Wayne is in charge of the arrangements.

ELWOOD EDGAR DESLATTE

LAPLACE -- Elwood Edgar Deslatte, 78, a native of Harahan, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald J. Deslatte of Harahan, Donald D. Deslatte of LaPlace and Nicky E. Deslatte of LaPlace; four daughters, Sharon D. Beals of Metairie, Cynthia D. Flocke of Bush and Marilee De. Leserre of LaPlace and Bonnie Boleware of Seminary, Miss.; four brothers, Ellis"Shorty" Delatte of Kenner, Otis Delatte of LaPlace, Earl Delatte of Covington and James "Floyd" Delatte of New Orleans; one sisters, Ethel Lee Lelux of Groves, Texas ; and 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Marie Dupuy Deslatte; his parents, Thomas and Alicia Fontenot Deslatte; two brothers, Thomas and Newman Delatte; and one sister, Julie Pritchard.

Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church, Whitehall.

Burial will be at Whitehall Cemetery.

LUCILLE MCKAY MILLER

PONCHATOULA -- Lucille McKay Miller, 77, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge.

She was a retired cafeteria worker with The Tangipahoa Parish School Board, and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, Ponchatoula pastored by the Rev. Roy D. Burton.

Survivors were three daughters, Angela and Annie Miller and Stephanie Hawkins, all of Ponchatoula; two sons, Alfred and Jeffrey Miller, both of Ponchatoula; four sisters, Dolbe Bush, Margie Hunter, Delia Hart and Lillie White , all of Ponchatoula; three brothers, Andrew McKay of Ponchatoula, Herbert McKay of Marietta, Ga. and Sidney McKay of Hammond; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her former husband, Floyd Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Viola McKay; one daughter Vivian Ann Williams; three brothers, Sam, Clem and Charles McKay; and two sisters, Nettie McKay and Bernice Berry.

The Rev. Roy D. Burton conducted the funeral Saturday at First True Love World Outreach Ministries, Ponchatoula. Burial was at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

LOUIS C. ALFORD JR.

U.S. Army veteran Louis C. Alford Jr., 58, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at his home.

Survivors include his mother, Nellie B. Alford; one daughter, Raquel Louise Alford Jackson of Palm Dale, Calif.; two sons, Louis Claude Alford III of Los Angeles, and Lovell Deron Alford of Long Beach, Calif.; five sisters, Shirley Hilliard, Lois A. Henderson, Gladys A. Cyprian and Gloria A. Bridgewater of Hammond, Mattie Brumfield of Mount Hermon; four brothers, Charles E. Alford, Gregory A. Alford, Hillery Washington , all of Hammond, and L.C. Alford of New Orleans; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His father, L.C. Alford Sr., preceded him in death.

Visitation will be Friday at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Michael Otkins will conduct the funeral Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond.

RITA A. CARTER

KENTWOOD -- Visitation will be Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 to 9 p.m. for Rita A. Carter.

Carter, 49, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at her home.

Survivors include her sons, Rodrick and DeShun Carter, both of Kentwood; her daughter, Chantay Carter of Hammond; her sisters, Audrey and Joann Carter, both of Kentwood; her brothers, Richard Earl Carter of Los Angeles, Calif., and Leonard Carter of Osyka, Miss.; and four grandchildren.

Her parents, Leroy and Francis Carter, one brother and one sister, preceded her in death.

The Rev. Lee Allen Pounds will conduct the funeral Saturday at Sweethome Baptist Church, Kentwood, at noon, and burial will follow at the church cemetery.
