ARTHUR, THEODORE E. "TED"
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Theodore E. Arthur was born April 4, 1927, in Plainsfield, N.J. He spent 76 wonderful years with his family and friends. He truly loved life and shared his love with all. He was a beautiful man. He died at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on Sunday, July 13, 2003, surrounded by his loving family. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., in 1948. He retired from Paxon Chemical, formerly Allied Chemical, where he worked as a chemist for 31 years. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Cleary Arthur. They would have been married 50 years on Oct. 18 of this year. He is also survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Jeff McWilliams of Newton, N.J., Susan and Floyd DeMers of St. Gabriel, and Mary and Kell Johnson of Prairieville; a son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Annette Arthur; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Arthur. He was dearly beloved by eight grandchildren, Kristen Argondizzo, Jeffrey McWilliams, Michael McWilliams, Catherine DeMers, Jessica DeMers, Taylor Johnson , Alex Johnson and Cherie Arthur; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Anthony Argondizzo; and twin sister, Anne Rydell and her husband, Paul Rydell. Preceded in death by his son, Daniel E. Arthur; parents, Theodore Strong and Lolita Arthur; and a brother, Tom Newbery. He was an active member of St. Patrick's Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was an active member and sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous.

BABIN, JANE HEAD
A homemaker and a resident of Dutchtown, she died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Baton Rouge. She was 56 and a native of Alexandria. Entombment in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. Survived by her husband, Alfred M. Babin, Dutchtown; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christa and Bob Marshall, Georgetown, Texas , and Adele Babin, Dutchtown; a son and daughter-in-law, Dane and Rachel Babin, Gonzales; and two sisters and a brother. Preceded in death by her parents, Odis W. Head and Opal McGlothlin Head.

BELGARD, JEANNINE
A resident of Zachary, she died of cancer Saturday, July 19, 2003, at 12:40 a.m. at her home. She was 65 and a native of Merrill, N.Y. Visiting at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Zachary, from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Kenny Laird. interment in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary. Survived by two daughters, Geri B. Campbell, Labadieville, and Tracy B. Parker, Pride; six sons, Mark A. Belgard, Geismar, Charles Belgard Jr., French Settlement, Francis Belgard, Geismar, David Belgard, Baker, James Belgard, Zachary, and Daniel Belgard, Lynn Haven, Fla.; four sisters, Gloria Lusk, Slidell, Ramona Randles and Cynthia Madonna, both of Baton Rouge, and Kathleen DeLatte, Denham Springs; two brothers, David Jandle, Brusly, and Daniel Jandle, Texas ; and 17 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her sons. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Belgard Jr. and Shawn Parker.

BOURGEOIS, EVELYN RUTH
A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, she died Friday, July 18, 2003, in Gonzales. She was 67, a native of Port Barre and resident of Gonzales. interment in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery, St. Amant. Survived by three daughters, Vickie Manning, Sandra White and Christine Babin; two sons, Ricky Bourgeois and James Rae Bourgeois; three sisters, Juanita Cashio, Helen Cumbo, and Marie Dupre; three brothers, Charles Leger, Carey Leger and Bernaxd Leger; five grandchildren, Lawrence Helg III, Kevin Villar Jr., Phillip Thibodeaux, Kimberly Helg and Jennifer Villar; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Helg and Gavin Gaughf; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bourgeois; two sons-in-law, Joe Manning and John White ; a stepsister, Ore Mae Solieau; and three stepbrothers, Lee Leger, Joseph Leger and O.B. Leger. Preceded in death by her husband, Ivory George Bourgeois; father and mother, Sydney Jones and Marie Weber Jones Leger; stepfather, Fabien Leger; and a sister, Doris Smith. Pallbearers were Joe Manning, John White , Kevin Villar Jr., Phillip Thibodeaux, Bernard Leger, and Larkin Lambert. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

BRAUD, LANCER PAUL
A house mover and a resident of Maurepas, he died Monday, July 14, 2003. He was 20 and a native of Baton Rouge. interment in St. Amant Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Amant. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Terri and Herbert Reine of Prairieville; a daughter, Alexis Bryant of Denham Springs; grandparents, Juliana Braud, Gonzales, and Charles Richardson, Head of Island; three sisters, Anna Gayle Braud and companion Kris Sanchez, and Lori Braud, all of Maurepas, and Bridget Richardson, Prairieville; and a brother, Jamie Richardson, Prairieville. Preceded in death by his father, Perry J. Braud; grandfather, Johnny Braud; and grandmother, Geraldine Rousseau.

BREEN, BRANDON MICHAEL
An electrician with Saia Electric and a 1997 graduate of Central High School, he died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Baton Rouge as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was 23. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his father, Larry Breen and wife Debbie of Denham Springs; stepfather, Steve Eppinett of Greenwell Springs; maternal grandmother, Anna Landry of Greenwell Springs; paternal stepgrandmother, Sylvia Eppinett of Prairieville; three stepsisters, Kali Eppinett of Greenwell Springs, and Chelsea and Amanda Breen, both of Denham Springs; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Landry Eppinett; maternal grandfather, Llewellyn "Boo" Landry Sr.; paternal grandparents, Joe Breen Sr. and Bertha Bernhard Breen; and stepgrandfather, Leon Eppinett. Pallbearers were Steven Breen, Joey Breen, Dan Eppinett, Trey Landry, Chris Schulz and Jason Wise.
cline, charles jordan Jr.
He was a United States veteran who served in Vietnam. The owner of E.C.S. Inc. He was 52. A resident of French Settlement, a native of Buras. He died Wednesday, July 9, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Tessa and Buddy Johnson , of Buras, Penny Cline and fiancé Steven Ebeling, of Galvez, Charles Cline and fianceé Tonya Langlois, of Livingston, Christopher Cline, of French Settlement. He is also survived by a life long friend, first love and mother of his children Betty Cline Stipelcovich; eleven grandchildren, Chase Cline, Hunter Johnson , Mike Glass, Katie Glass, D.J. Boneville, Travis Langlois, Kacey Langlois, Jace Ebeling, Eric Cline, Chelsi Langlois and Caitlyn Cline; one sister, Tina Welch; one brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Janet Welch. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles Cline and Gloria Cline Welch. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. His family will always love and miss him. Rest in peace dad.

FABRE, CAROLYNE JANISE AND SETH MICHAEL
Carolyne Janise Fabre and her son, Seth Michael Fabre, died at 10:41 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2003, in Gonzales. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. Carolyne was 21, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Baton Rouge. She was a former student at Advantage Computer School. She is survived by her parents, Charles Perry and Dorothy Weidner Fabre, Gonzales; paternal grandparents, Clifford and Athlea Fabre, Baton Rouge; a sister, Jessica Fabre, St. Amant, and her fiance, Garry Warner; two brothers, Christopher Fabre and Joseph Fabre, both of Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Hennie Weidner. She was a member of Healing Place Church, Baton Rouge. Seth was 5, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Baton Rouge. He was a student at Calvary Learning Center, Baton Rouge. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Perry and Dorothy Weidner Fabre, Gonzales; an aunt, Jessica Fabre, St. Amant; and two uncles, Christopher Fabre and Jo Jo Fabre.

GENTRY, LESLEY MARIE
A paralegal with Sheets, Babin and Associates and a resident of Gonzales, she died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in St. Amant. She was 29 and a native of New Orleans. Visiting at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, from 9:30 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Eric Gyan. interment in Prairieville Community Cemetery. Survived by her parents, Jimmy G. Gentry and Judy Gaspard Gentry, Prairieville; and two sisters, LeeAnne Gentry and Jill A. Gentry, both of Gonzales. Preceded in death by her brother, James Kelly Gentry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

JOHNSON, HELEN AVARA
A retired bookkeeper with Red Stick Linen and a resident of French Settlement, she died Monday, July 14, 2003, at 4:03 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 69 and a native of Summit, Miss. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by her husband, Felix L. Johnson ; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Marie Westmoreland of Port Allen; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Pansy and Thomas Morgan of Baker, Grace and Carl "Cotton" May of Denham Springs, and Yvonne and Philip Alimia of Marrero; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Shirley Avara of Denham Springs, and Herman Avara of Mississippi; stepchildren and spouses, Debra and Gary Carber and John and Peggy Johnson ; stepgrandchildren, Douglas Carber and Antoinette Clopton; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler Carber, Randi Carber and Victorya Clopton. Preceded in death by a son, Chris Westmoreland; parents, Hollis and Addie Dunnaway Avara; and a brother, Clifford Avara. Pallbearers will be Thomas Morgan, Bill Avara, Mike Duncan and Gary Carber. Honorary pallbearers are Douglas Carber and David Clopton. .

LAICHE, ALICE ZELLA
A homemaker and a resident of Gonzales, she died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Intergrated Health Services, Gonzales. She was 91 and a native of Head of Island. interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Paulina. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Dolores Laiche, Gonzales; a daughter and son-in-law, Joann and Manuel Gautreau, Arizona; four sisters, Florence Daily, Texas , Leana Matherne, Grand Point, Geraldine "Jerry" Berthelot, French Settlement, and Geneva LeBans, Gonzales; two brothers, Joseph "Smokey" DeBate Jr., New Orleans, and Mickey DeBate, Geismar; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Roy Laiche; parents, Joseph DeBate and Alice Brignac DeBate; and six brothers and two sisters. She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

LOUQUE, SR. ALVIN F.
Alvin F. Louque Sr. died Friday, July 18, 2003. He was 92 and had resided in Gramercy for 60 years. His survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Ronald Landry of Reserve, Judith and Jerry Dubose of Baton Rouge and Iris and Wallace Poche of Paulina; five sons and their wives, Eddie Louque of Waco, Texas , Harry and Betty of St. Amant, Alvin Jr. and Beverly of LaPlace, Gary and Linda of St. Amant, and Lynn and Donna of LaPlace; sisters, Stella Thornton of Metairie and Merle Day of Baton Rouge; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Felonise Lambert Louque; a son, Francis Louque; a daughter, Elaine Breaud; parents, Oscar and Louisa Martin Louque; two brothers, Garland and Herbert Louque; and a sister, Violet Stansbury. Mr. Louque will always be remembered as the "house painter," as he painted many of the older homes in the area, including St. Joseph rectory in Paulina. Entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.

MERSCH, MYRA
She died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 96. Arrangements are pending with Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales.

PFISTER, JR. LEONARD ANTHONY
A pharmacy assistant and a resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 1:39 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2003, at his residence. He was 77 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Michael Galea. interment in St. Anne Cemetery, Napoleonville. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Mae Diaz Pfister, Donaldsonville; three daughters, Ann Folse, Nancy Nizzo and Kay Willis; three sisters, Lorraine Dupuy, Ethelyn Villier and Jackie Sanchez; a brother, Raymond Pfister; five grandchildren, Brian Folse, Todd Folse, Amy Nizzo Dunn, Ryan Nizzo and Kiley Willis; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Folse and Jacob Dunn. Preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Anthony Pfister Sr. and Alice Templet Pfister; and two brothers, Vernon "Spec" Pfister and Howard Pfister. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
