FLEMING, EMMA LEE
She was 92 and resident of Gonzales Healthcare Center. She was a native of Thomasville, Ala. Formerly of Hollandale, Miss., Emma was the mother of two daughters, Virgina Hyer of Leland, Ms. and Donna Walker of St. Amant; five sons, Allen Clemons of Clovis, Calif., James Fleming of Sperry, Okla., Alvin Fleming of Princeton, N.C., Calvin and Walter Fleming. She will be missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-gandchildren. Also missing her will be her brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Nina Boluer of Leland, Miss., her sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Charles Ware of Hollandale, Miss. She was preceded in death by her son-in-laws, Donald F. Hyder and William P. Walker. Everyone was her darling.

FERNANDEZ, CHARLES BERNARD "CHING"
A production line supervisor for Smurfiet-Stone Container Co. and a resident of Simsboro, he died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at his residence. He was 41 and a native of Donaldsonville. Entombment in Ascension Catholic Cemetery. Survived by his fiancée, Cora Abney, Simsboro; mother, Helen Williams Fernandez, Donaldsonville; a daughter, Dana Fernandez; son, Chaz Fernandez, both of Donaldsonville; eight sisters and seven brothers-in-law, Alice F. and Herman Craig, Theresa F. and Walter Dupart, Dorothy F. and the Rev. Arthur Jones, and Doris F. and Tony Banks, all of New Orleans; Dolores Fernandez, Myrna F. and John Lewis and Rita F. and Charles Richardson, all of Donaldsonville, and Elizabeth F. and Levy Cooks, Port Arthur, Texas ; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Paul Jr., Elcide and John Sr. and Paulette Fernandez, all of New Orleans, Anthony and Jackie Fernandez, Donaldsonville, and Darren and Kim Fernandez, Gonzales. Preceded in death by his father, Paul J. Fernandez Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Gerald Fernandez. He was a 1982 graduate of Donaldsonville High School and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Grambling.
Health, Jerri Ann ulm
A homemaker and resident of St. Amant, she died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 in St. Amant. Entombment in Lake Lawn Mausoleum, Metairie. She was a native of New Orleans and is survived two daughters, Shannon and Haylie Heath of St. Amant; her parents, Donald and Gillham Ulm of Gonzales and one sister, Deborah Ulm Rinaudo, South Carolina. Preceded in death by her materanl and paternal grandparents.

HOTARD, MARIE A.
A resident of Sorrento, she died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Kenner. She was 65 and a native of New Orleans. Entombment in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum, St. Amant. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa S. and Jed LeBlanc , Sorrento, and Laurie St. Pierre and Louis Falgoust, Des Allemands; a son, Donald St. Pierre and his companion, Robert Turner, New Orleans; a brother, Peter John Patamia, Tampa, Fla.; and two grandkids, Nicole and Briar Falgoust, both of Des Allemands. Preceded in death by her parents, Peter Vincent and Anaise Gonzales Patamia. Pallbearers were Jed LeBlanc , Louis Falgoust, Robert Turner, Dennis Becnel, Jerome Martin and Roy Comeaux Jr. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Sorrento.

HUEY, WILBERT "COACH"
Wilbert "Coach" "Flip" Huey was born Sept. 9, 1926, in McComb, Miss., the only child of Levy and Annie Huey. He died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at 6 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 77, a resident of Baton Rouge and was raised in New Orleans. His education was obtained from James A. Craig Elementary and Wicker Junior High schools, and he graduated from McDonogh No. 35, all in New Orleans. After high school, he served two years in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1946. Wilbert continued his education at Xavier University, New Orleans, and graduated in 1951. Wilbert received a master of education degree at Southern University and served as a graduate assistant coach in basketball and football. His 33-year professional career in education included coach and teacher at Holy Ghost High School, Opelousas, 1951-1955; teacher and athletic director, Lowery High School, 1955-1969; assistant principal, Lowery High School, 1970-1972; and principal, Lowery Middle School, 1973 until his retirement in 1985. Wilbert served in the following capacities: the first African American to be elected to the Donaldsonville City Council, 1976, and served two terms; appointed to the Atchafalaya Levee Board; a member of the Louisiana Advisory Board for Title I; chief administrator for the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office, and was appointed city manager for the city of Donaldsonville, where he was responsible for carrying out the policies of the City Council. Wilbert held membership in the following organizations: life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc.; usher at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church; charter member of Outer New Orleanians Social Guys, which subsequently changed to Nouveau Outer New Orleanians Ltd.; Stag 20 Social Club; charter member of the Over the Hill Gang in Donaldsonville; Louisiana Retired Teachers Association; Ascension Parish Retired Parish Teachers Association, and he was inducted into the Sports Trail Century Club. In 1955, he was joined in holy matrimony to Odile Johnson Huey. To this union, they were blessed with two sons, Anthony D. Huey and Terry J. Huey. Wilbert and Odile shared 40 years of marriage until her death. To cherish his memory he leaves his loving, devoted wife, Effie Hall Huey; a son, Anthony D. Huey; a daughter-in-law, Yolanda H. Huey; two stepdaughters, Darieka Dove and Dakasha Leonard; seven grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; a devoted goddaughter and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levy and Annie Huey; wife, Odile Huey; and son, Terry Huey. He donated his body to the Bureau of Anatomical Services for the advancement of medical education and research.

MARCO, PHILIP DAVID
A safety administrator at Strategic Petroleum Reserve, Big Hill, Texas , he died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Baptist Hospital, Beaumont, Texas . He was 60, a resident of Prairieville and a native of Chicago. He served in the U.S. National Guard. Survived by his wife, Donna Marco; mother, Bess Marco Ritchey; two sisters-in-law, Loretha Marco and Cheryl Mueller; four nephews, John Marco, Bob Mueller, Tom Mueller and John Mueller; a great-niece, Alena Marco; and his mother-in-law, Marie McBride. Preceded in death by his father, Philip Marco; and a brother, Greg Marco. He was a member of BMW Motorcycle Club and loved to hunt, fish and golf.

NEWTON, MARY LEA CHANEY "MA"
A beloved and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was taken home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003. She was 80, a native of Clinton and resident of Denham Springs. She was a retired employee of Uni- royal/Payne and Keller. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 319 Mattie St., Denham Springs, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lou and John LeBlanc of Prairieville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Vicki Newton of Denham Springs, and Skee and Fran Gamble of El Paso, Texas ; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Joseph R. Newton; and a sister, Lillian Norwood.

OUBRE, SHELBY JOSEPH "ROCK"
Owner of Lutcher Tires and Alignment, he died at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Medical Center of Louisiana , New Orleans. He was 56, a resident of Lutcher and a native of Donaldsonville. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard. Visiting at the Knights of Columbus from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, celebrated by the Rev. Ed Fuss and the Rev. Frank Uter. Entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Gayle B. Oubre; two sons, Dooley Oubre and Doyle Oubre, both of Lutcher; four sisters, Sandra Oubre Sotile, Wanda Oubre Milano, Roxanne "Cookie" Veron Skias and Rachelle Veron Oubre; and a brother, Carl Oubre. Preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Camilla Landry Oubre. Pallbearers will be Ricky Laiche, Harry Louque, Nick Milano, Rocky Oubre, Conrad Oubre and Paul Milano. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, L.H.S. Quarterback Club and Constable Association.

RODRIGUEZ, RITA HELEN
A homemaker and resident of Donaldsonville, she died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Donaldsonville. She was 80 and a native of Brusly McCall. interment in Ascension Catholic Church Cemetery, Donaldsonville. She is survived by three sons, Frank and Michael Randazzo, both of Donaldsonville, and Anthony Rodriguez, California; five sisters, Ruby Morales, Gretna, Marjorie Acosta and Marion Newman, both of Baton Rouge, Joyce Sanchez, Prairieville, and Audrey Mae Percle, Thibodaux; two brothers, Larry Rodriguez, Prairieville, and Dawson Rodriguez, Idaho; and five grandchildren, Frank Jr. and Kimberly Randazzo, Tony and Kristen Rodriguez and John Cantrell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Narcisse and Maggie Montz Rodriguez; and brothers, Stanley, Woodrow, Durel, Rodney and Winston Rodriguez.

SIMONEAUX SR., LESTER JOSEPH "JOE"
A retired and self-employed fisherman and resident of Whitehall, he died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Gonzales. He was 80 and a native of Pierre Part. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. interment in Head of Island Baptist Church çemetery. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Roy Case Sr., Sunset, Vallrie Ogden and Jude Lemoine, Maurepas, and Mary and John Guyban, Albany; five sons and daughters-in-law, Tex David Sr. and Elaine Simoneaux, Stoney Joseph Sr. and Julia Simoneaux, Reab O'Neil Simoneaux Sr., and Ricky Joseph Simoneaux Sr., all of Maurepas, and Lester Joseph Jr. and Mary Ann Simoneaux, Head of Island; three sisters, Rosalie Cambre, Denham Springs, Theresa Guitreau, French Settlement, and Odile Babin, Sorrento; a brother, Edward Simoneaux, Head of Island; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Janave Aydell Simoneaux; parents, Noah and Lorane Gautreaux Simoneaux; a son, Mickey Anthony Simoneaux; two sisters; five brothers; and a grandson, Donnie Paul Simoneaux. Pallbearers were his grandsons. He was a member of Head of Island Baptist Church and loved to write songs and poems.

TEMPLET, TERRY PAUL "TEE"
A loving son, brother and uncle and a resident of St. Amant, he died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at 3:15 a.m. at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 44. Entombment in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Mausoleum, St. Amant. He is survived by his parents, Louis M. Sr. and Vernell Babin Templet; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis "Tony" Templet Jr. and Barbara, and Vernon and Arlette Templet; and a sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine "Deanie" and Michael P. Lessard Sr., all of St. Amant. He is also survived by five nephews, 10 nieces, 17 great-nephews, 11 great-nieces, three stepnieces, two stepnephews, eight stepgreat-nephews and four stepgreat-nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara LeBlanc Johnson ; a great-niece, Lacee Rae LeBlanc ; a stepgreat-niece, Shaelyn Sue Dupuy; and grandparents, Charles Ovide Sr. and Elpha Templet and George Babin Sr. and Bertha. Pallbearers were Jeremy, Quincy and Tony John Templet, Arthur Roy Jr., Chris Pape, John Gerald LeBlanc , Donnie "Dino" Bourgeois, Herman P. Rouyea Jr. and A.J. Hull. Honorary pallbearers were Bodhi Moreland, Alex Templet and Randy Paul LeBlanc . Terry was very special to everyone who knew him. He was always a happy person and such a joy. We know in our hearts God took "Tee" so he would no longer suffer. He will be sadly missed and always loved. The Templet family would like to thank Trinity Hospice, Dr. Halina, Dr. Malur, and Healthcare Options especially Kim and Mariam.

WILLINGHAM, JOSEPH THOMAS
A retired process technician with Agrico Chemical Co. and a resident of Prairieville, he died at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in Gonzales. He was 84 and a native of Pine Bluff, Ark. He was a retired U.S. Army captain, having served in World War II. interment in Carpenters Chapel Church Cemetery, Galvez. Survived by his wife, Peggy Jean Derryberry Willingham; a daughter, Jean Anne Willingham; a son, Donald Willingham; and a granddaughter, Leah Willingham. Preceded in death by his parents, Jo and Laurie O'Bannon Willingham; and a son, Robert Earle Willingham. He was a shriner and member of the Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, York Rite, VFW Post 3693. He was an avid sportsman.

ARNOLD, O'LEE
A resident and native of Galvez, she died 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Gonzales. She was 79. Survived by her husband, Wilmer Arnold; a son and daughter-in-law, Norris and Margaret Arnold; two sisters, Ola Mae Broussard and Floy Cotton; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, Charlie Ferguson; and mother, Alta Akridge Ferguson.

FOSTER, SHIRLEY PACK "MOTHA"
A retired ward clerk for IHS Nursing Home, Gonzales, she died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 66. interment in Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church Cemetery, Darrow. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra F. and Charles Johnson and Tammy F. and Marlon Irvin Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Morris Jr. and Cynthia Foster; three sisters, Gloria Mason, Eleanor Shivers and Ethel Terry; a brother, James Pack; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Morris Sr., two sisters and two brothers.

GRAVES, FRANK LEWIN
Graveside service for Frank Lewin Graves, 70, was held at Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale Monday, Dec. 15. He is survived by his loving family.
