A homemaker and resident of Donaldsonville, she died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at her home. She was 74 and a native of Welcome. interment in Buena Vista Baptist Church Cemetery, St. James. She is survived by three daughters, Betty J. Meggs of Donaldsonville, Mary Jean Joshua of Convent and Ruby Dee Joshua of Lemannville; three sons, Gene Green, Joseph Joshua and Steve Adam Joshua, all of Donaldsonville; four sisters, Enola Harris, Octavia Smith and Victoria Gasper, all of Donaldsonville, and Lillie Lewis of New Orleans; two brothers, Joseph Green of Donaldsonville and George Green of Vacherie; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Joshua Sr.; parents; two daughters, Grace Alice Joshua and Susan Joshua; and a son, Jeffery Joshua.

Riley, Minnie L.
A homemaker and resident of Gonzales, she died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 68 and a native of Jackson , Miss. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Riley Sr.; two daughters, Linda J. Darville and Helen Riley; a son, Alfred R. Riley Jr.; three sisters, Ernestine Coleman, Lula Mae Austin and Mary Burnet; nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son.

AMBEAU JR., MILTON J.
He died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at his home. He was 87. He was born in Prairieville and lived his life in Gonzales, where he owned and operated Ambeau's Cleaners. He served in the U.S. Navy and traveled the world during his long life. He even spent seven years in Lima, Peru, as manager of American Dry Cleaners in South America. interment in Prairieville Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen Ambeau; four children, Mary West-Winters, Robert Ambeau, John David Ambeau and Phyllis Roy; a sister, Jeanette Ambeau; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales.

BERTHELOT, JOSEPH OJEEG
A resident of Gonzales and native of Maurepas, he died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at the Ascension Care Center. He was 80 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A memorial service will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ella Rose Berthelot; four sons, Bert Berthelot, John Allen "Johnny" Berthelot, James "Gilly" Berthelot and Olin Glenn Berthelot; two step-daughters, Rena McPhee and Lisa Gautreau; a step-son, Blake Melancon; four sisters, Ida Guitreau, Mary Trabeau, Louella Carbella and Nancy Majors; a brother, Herman Berthelot; four half-sisters, Myrtle Curelle, Buelah Hood, Margie St. Germain and Myrtes Trabeau; two half-brothers, George Berthelot and Jimmy Berthelot; grandchildren, Jamie Lambert, Janna Gautreaux, Jacie Berthelot, Shelly Gomez, Kelley Banker, Jancy Amedee, Brad Berthelot, Brent Berthelot and Brandon Berthelot; step-grandchildren, Jimmy Jones, Stefan Gautreau, Justin Gautreau, Bridget Jumonville, Honey Stanley, Mia Rose Melancon and Beau Jude Melancon; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by father and mother, Leo John and Martha Louise Leader Berthelot; a brother, J.L. Berthelot; a son, Ojeeg Joseph Berthelot; a stepson, Clyde Melancon III; and two half-brothers, Curtis Berthelot and Burman Berthelot. Mr. Berthelot was active in many community and civic programs. He served as Town Council mayor pro-tem for eight years, was a past state commander of the American Legion and a national executive committeeman, a past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, served as district director of American Legion Baseball for 30 years, and served as the district director of the Dixie Youth Baseball for 28 years in Gonzales. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church.

BOURG, CLAUDE PAUL 'TOBY'
A retired president of Bourg Insurance and a native and resident of Donaldsonville, he was 69. He entered into God's rest Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at 8:38 p.m. at Prevost Memorial Hospital, Donaldsonville. Burial in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church cemetery in Donaldsonville. Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Bambi Bourg and Charles "Chuck" LeBlanc and their children, Chase, Michael and Lauren, all of Donaldsonville; his sons and daughters-in-law, Brad P. and Malea Bourg, their children, Caroline and Davis, all of Baton Rouge; Berthil J. and Stephanie Bourg and a expected child, all of Prairieville; Brennan M. and Becky Bourg and their children, Abigail, Brennan Jr. and Adelle, all of Prairieville; two brothers, Nicholas A. Bourg, Donaldsonville; and Michael D. Bourg, Prairieville; and a sister, Elaine Bourg Covington, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith "Boo Boot" Schexnaydre Bourg; his parents, Claude P. and Georgianna Bourg; a brother, Robert Bourg; and a sister, Jacqueline Bourg Hymel. Pallbearers will be Louis Hymel, Mark Hymel, Randy Hymel, James 'Bubba' Covington, Jon Covington, Darden Adams, Howard J. Bourg and Donald Bourg.

COOK, MILDRED MAE ST. AMANT
A homemaker and retired beautician, she died at 1:11 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004. She was 86 and a native and resident of Prairieville. Visting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 8-9 a.m. until religous services at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Services will be officiated by Rev. Donald Blanchard. interment in Prairieville Community Cemetery. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy J. and Judy Cook and Billy and Loretta Cook, all of Prairieville; five grandsons, Bret Cook, Paul Cook, Dennis Cook, Kurt Cook and Beau Cook; one granddaughter, Ashlee Cook White ; nine great-grandchildren, Adam Cook, Taylor Cook, Andrew Cook, Sean Cook, Seth Cook, Brennen Cook, Blair Cook, Alysse White and Cheyenne Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy "Roy" Cook; parents, Hugh "Hubby" and Alice Salassi St. Amant; one sister, Lucille Scivique; and three brothers, Salassi St. Amant, Valmond St. Amant and Chester St. Amant. Pallbearers will be Paul Cook, Dennis Cook, Kurt Cook, Beau Cook and Gene White .

CAMPANILE, MARIE MANCUSO 'JEANETTE'
A retired accountant and resident of Maurepas, she died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at her residence. She was 81. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Toni and R.J. Roppollo and Nancy Campanile; three sons and daughters-in-law, Vince Jr. and Fern Campanile, Johnny and Debbie Campanile and David and Kelley Campanile; two sisters, Barbara Young and Bootsie Patin; two brothers, Junior Mancuso and Angelo Mancuso; nine grandchildren, Dwayne, Brandi, Chris, Tracie, Travis, Johnette, Crystal, Megan and Corey; and seven great-grandchildren, Harlie, Alexander, Lauryn, Beau, Kayla, Hunter and Gabrielle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Campanile Sr.; parents, Martin and Jennie Mancuso; and three sisters, Lena, Margaret and Mary.

HALL, DOROTHY MAE 'PEANUT'
A homemaker and a lifelong resident of Gonzales, she died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Earl K. Long Medical Center. She was 57. interment in St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Penny and husband Butch Jones and Kim Delmore, all of Gonzales, and Isis and husband Derrick McCullough of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three sons, Greg Delmore of Gonzales, Marvin and wife Inez Delmore of St. James and Steven Hall of Gonzales; an aunt who was like a mother to her, Ruth Delmore; four aunts, Pearl Nabor, and Emma, Dorothy and Mary Delmore; three uncles, John Delmore Sr. of Gonzales, Freddie Delmore of Baton Rouge and Lannis Delmore of Austin, Texas ; seven grandchildren, LaDarrias Delmore, Dexter Brown, Bianca Delmore, Kelsie Jones, Kifton Lewis, Xavier Delmore and Lee Kolby Brown; three godchildren, Lois Delmore, Jonathan Cutno and Sandra Dorsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, including devoted cousin, Arlene Cutno of Gonzales, and friends, including Zurlee Bush and Lois Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

HILL, CATHERINE ANNE 'CATHY'
A former resident of Hammond and current resident of Gonzales, she died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in Gonzales. She was 54 and a native of Port Vincent. interment in Fielders Cemetery at Grays Creek Baptist Church. Survived by a sister, Betty Pearson; four nieces, Janice Pearson Cooper and spouse Donnie, Marilyn Pearson McClain, Vernel Pearson Dillsauer and Jenelle Pearson McElveen; a nephew and spouse, Kenneth and Toni Pearson; and two aunts, Lillie Crayton and Rosie Paige Clemens. Preceded in death by her parents, Barney Webster Hill and Jessie Everett Hill; a brother, Barney "Bill" William Hill; and a brother-in-law, Delton Pearson.

LACOUR, KEONDRIC J'SHAWN
A resident of Gonzales, hed died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was 5. interment in Mount Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Gabriel. Survived by his parents, Kendra LaCour and Shawn McKeel Sr.; three sisters, Alisia R. LaCour, Aiyana C. Provost and Karlnisha B. Maloid; and a brother, Shawn McKeel Jr. Preceded in death by his grandfather, Benjamin McKeel.

MALBROUGH SR., LOUIS CLAY
A retired general contractor and resident of Gonzales, he died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in Baton Rouge. A well-known general contractor in the Baton Rouge area, he was the former owner of Capital Plumbing Co. He was 87, a native of Prairieville and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, who served in the Pacific Theater. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5. interment in Lake Cemetery, Lake. He is survived by two daughters, Justine "Teenie" Reeves and Patsy Hebert; two sons, John "Johnny" Stuckey and Louis Malbrough Jr.; a sister, Ellen Cole; three brothers, C.L., Homer "Lee" and Myer Malbreaugh; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Lela Moran Malbreaugh; and four sisters.

SINGLETARY, DOROTHY, G.
A retired teacher's aide in Ascension Parish, she died at 7:02 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 71, a resident of St. Amant and a native of New Orleans. interment in Faithful United Methodist Church Cemetery, St. Amant. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Paul C. Singletary Sr. of St. Amant; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet L. Singletary, St. Amant, and Laura Singletary Candebat and Wayne Candebat, both of Chalmette; three sons and daughters-in-law, David P. and Deena Singletary, Thomas G. and Sandy Singletary and Paul C. and Ginger Singletary; an aunt, Jerry Nims of River Ridge; stepfather, Alfred R. Penn of Marrero; and seven grandchildren, Garrett, Benjamin, Daniel, Olivia and Lauren Singletary and Nicole and Jessica Candebat. She was preceded in death by her mother, Billie Penn; father, George W. Grisamore; a daughter, Carolyn S. Singletary; and two granddaughters, Rachelle Candebat and Danielle Singletary. She was a member of Faithful United Methodist Church.

BIRNBAUM, IRVING
A retired haberdasher from Cohn-Turner Clothing and a veteran of World War II, he died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. A resident of Baton Rouge and former resident of Donaldsonville, he was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Jeff Birnbaum and Donna Landry of Baton Rouge and Jan Birnbaum and Linda Giglio of Napa Valley, Calif.; granddaughter, Laura Birnbaum of Dallas; a grandson, Gabriel Landry of Baton Rouge; and two brothers, Jules Birnbaum of New York and Sid Birnbaum of New Jersey. Preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Jacob Birnbaum; first wife, Judith Roth Birnbaum; and second wife, Rosemary Sims, who was of Donaldsonville. interment in the Jewish Cemetery on North Street, Donaldsonville.

CAVIN, DORIS JONES "AUNT DORIS"
She was a resident of Galvez, she Passed away Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 11 a.m. at her home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, with her family and beloved pets, Pretty Girl and Benji, by her side. She was 57and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Glen and Dana Cavin and their daughters, Victoria and Allison, residing in Centreville, Miss.; sons-in-law and daughters, Gary and Cathy Cavin Whetstone and their sons, Dewayne and Jacob, also of Centreville, Jeff and Tracy Cavin Greer of Walker and their sons, Corey and Cody, Ronnie and Lynn Cavin Liotto and their son, Hunter, and daughter, Madison, residing in Prairieville; a brother and two sisters-in-law, John R. and Charlotte Jones and Charmaine Dimattia; a sister, Barbara Jones Stout; and numerous nieces and nephews, many wonderful friends, as well as many special "adopted" sons and daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Rodney Cavin; and her parents, Elmer and Bertha Pearson Jones. Pallbearers were Corey Greer, Cody Greer, Jacob Whetstone, Robbie Jones, Marvin Dencausse, Greg Hebert, Gordon Jones and Bill Mattingly. Honorary pallbearers were Hunter Liotto and Martin Lewis. She was greatly known, greatly loved and dearly missed. She said many times that her greatest comfort during this time were the words of her grandson, Corey, on the subject of time, "Maw Maw, it would never be enough."

COLEMAN, MARVIN "BLACK"
A native and resident of Prairieville and a cement finisher, he died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 40. interment in Community Cemetery, Prairieville. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Linda C. Dunn; father, Eddie L. Coleman Sr.; three daughters, Tamara Coleman and her mother, Tammy Coleman, both of Baton Rouge, Correen Coleman, and her mother, Colleen Coleman, both of Gonzales, and Tamira Owens and her mother and his fiancee, Tiffany Owens, both of Prairieville; stepson, Carl Gray, Gonzales; two sisters, Charmone Coleman and friend Ryan, and Christal C. Fleming and husband Eric, all of Gonzales; four brothers, Darryl and wife Wanda, Sorrento, Kim and Romell Coleman, both of Prairieville, and Christopher Coleman of Acworth, Ga.; two half-sisters, Torsha and Angie Bell, both of Gonzales; four half-brothers, Eddie, Brad, Wayne and Derrick Bell, all of Gonzales; two godchildren, Ebony Hill, Dallas, and Daria Coleman, Sorrento; and a host of nieces, nepehws, aunts, uncles, including a devoted uncle, Lester Jones Sr., cousins, friends, including Charles and Barbara Brown, both of Prairieville; and cherished pets, Maxamillion, his dog, and Jeronomo, his horse. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Mamie Jones; paternal grandparents, Eddie Sr. and Ophelia Coleman; and other relatives. He attended St. Amant High School.
