A native of St. Francisville and a resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Lakewood Quarters Nursing Home, Baton Rouge. He was 82. Survived by his wife, Daisy Rogers Eames of Donaldsonville; a sister, Maggie Brown of New Orleans; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry Eames and Emily Barrow Eames; and his siblings.

FONTENOT, COLLINS ALBERT
A carpenter with Jesse Culler Contractors and a resident of Whitehall, he died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in Whitehall. He was 49 and a native of Hammond. interment in Whitehall Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Mary Katherine Albea Fontenot, Whitehall; father and mother, Albert Numa and Lucille Delatte Fontenot, Whitehall; two sons, Troy Altazan and Dylan Altazan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Melva "Mel" Berthelot, Ventress, and Leverne and Berlin Aydell, Prairieville; and two brothers, Rayborn Fontenot, Port Vincent, and Lemoine Fontenot, Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by a son, Christopher John Fontenot Watts; grandparents, Joseph and Edna Berthelot Delatte and Leon and Victoria Rousseau Fontenot. Pallbearers were Rayborn Fontenot, Lemoine Fontenot, Berlin Aydell, Darrel Plymale, Nolan "Heavy" Kling, Mike Mayers and Bob Skinner. Honorary pallbearer was Allen Singletary.

HITCHCOCK, GERALDINE HELENA
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 82, a native of Caribou, Maine, and resident of Brittany. interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. Survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ralph Hitchcock Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph Jr. and Cassandra Hitchcock; three sisters, Ella VanSchenck, Carlotta Wagner and Elaine Maroney; two brothers, Frank Holmes and John Holmes; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father and mother, Hiram and Annie White Holmes; a daughter, Annie Marie Hackley; a son, William "Billy" Hitchcock; and a brother, Henry Holmes. She was a member of Victory Temple Pentecostal Church of God.

JOFFRAY, JONATHAN JAMES "JON"
An employee of Corr-Tech in Gonzales and a resident of Hammond, he died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 43 and a native of Belleville, Ill. interment in Rose Memorial Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Susan Reid Joffray, Hammond; a daughter, Sydney Michelle Joffray, Hammond; two stepdaughters, Nadine Robin, Covington, and Nicole Wall, Kenner; father and stepmother, Oscar and Corrine Joffray, Belleville; mother, Audrey Stammer Joffray, Belleville; and a brother, Michael Joffray, Belleville. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Sophie Adrin Joffray; and maternal grandparents, William and Florence Kraus Stammer

LANDRY, JR. LAMAR A. "BROTHER"
After a lifelong battle with juvenile diabetes, he joined the angels in heaven on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at 6:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge. He was a loving father, son, brother and nephew. He was a pipe fitter and a former employee of JE Merit at Motiva Enterprises in Convent. He was 36 and a resident and native of Donaldsonville. interment in Ascension Catholic Cemetery. Survived by his parents, Lamar Landry Sr. and Audrey Seymour Landry; a daughter, Shelbi Landry; two sons, Coty and Tyler Landry; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle Landry Cassard and Dennis Cassard; a brother and sister-in-law, Dwayne Landry and Amanda Landry; and companion, Sharon Jacks. Survivors reside in Donaldsonville. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Robert and Ida Seymour; paternal grandparents, Norah and Louise Landry; and a cousin, Ronald Ruiz Jr. Pallbearers were Gary Gomez, Fred Gomez, Jamie Hurry, Johnny Hurry, Chris Schexnayder and Larry Lassere. Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Landry, Coty Landry and Kevin Roberts. He was a member of Back 70 Hunting Club and a former volunteer firefighter with the Donaldsonville Fire Department.

METZGER, M. MARJORIE
A retired school teacher, having taught in Calcasieu, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, St. Mary and Lafayette parish schools and retiring in 1977, she died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at her residence in Baton Rouge. She was 83 and a native of Grosse Tete. interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, Iowa. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Edward DeBlanc of Baton Rouge; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Lorraine Metzger of Woodland Park, Colo., Steven and Karen Metzger of Walker; three sisters, Dorothy Miglicco of Houston, and Theresa Robert and Barbara Perrere, both of Baton Rouge; three brothers, Edward "Jack" Bossier Jr. of North Little Rock, Ark., Charles Bossier of Baton Rouge and Kenny "Keaty" Bossier of Addis; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Leland Metzger; and parents, Edward and Marie Gueho Bossier. Pallbearers were Jeff and Chris Metzger, David and Michael DeBlanc, Kenneth Champagne and Chris White . She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a graduate of Donaldsonville High School and a 1941 graduate of LSU.

MOORE, RONNIE DEON
A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at his residence. He was 22 and a native of Prairieville. interment in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Galvez. Survived by his mother, Loretta Moore Times and husband Robert; father, Ronnie Mikell, Denham Springs; grandparents, Cinderella Talbert and Rosella and Isaac Moore; great-grandmothers, Edith Irvin and Johnella Stewart; a sister, DeKiyha Moore; a nephew, Corry Moore; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends, including a devoted friend, Jerry Jarrell. Preceded in death by his grandfather; uncle; and aunt.

ROBERT, MARJORIE CAPELLO
A homemaker and a resident and native of Donaldsonville, she died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, in Gonzales. She was 87. interment in Ascension Catholic Cemetery. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Russell Bourgeois, Donaldsonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shelby and Elynda Robert, Gonzales, and Ronald and Jo Ann Robert, St. Amant; a brother, Alvin T. Capello, Plano, Texas ; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Robert; parents, Ernest Sr. and Carmelite Babin Capello; and five brothers, Ernest Jr., Curtis, Freddie, Ervin and LeRoy Capello.

SANCHEZ, EMMA THERESA
A loving sister, aunt, great-aunt and sister-in-law, she died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, in Donaldsonville. She was 91 and a native of Brusly. She was a retired saleslady with B. Lemann & Brothers. Survived by two sisters, Mrs. John (Annie) Randazzo and Mrs. Sidney (Hilda) Dugas, all of Donaldsonville; a sister-in-law, Rita Sanchez, Donaldsonville; and numerous nieces and a nephew. Preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Louisa Acosta Sanchez; three sisters, Delta, Selma and Mildred Sanchez; and three brothers, Vincent "Teka," George O'Neil and Ervin Sanchez.

STALLARD, WILLIAM LESLIE "Bill"
A designer with an electrical company, he died Aug. 8, 2003, in Prairieville. He was 42 and a native of Lexington, Ky. interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Prairieville. He is survived by his father, James E. Stallard, Prairieville; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jodie Stallard of Houston, Texas ; nephew, Eric Stallard of Gonzales and niece, Melisha Stallard of Gonzales. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Simpson Stallard.

WYNNE, GLADYS M.
A retired registered nurse and a resident of Baker, she died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at her residence. She was 84, a longtime resident of Avenel, N.J., and a native of Superior, Wis. She was a U.S. Army nurse during World War II, having served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Anzio. interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maxcine A. and Dan Weaver, El Paso, Texas ; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William E. Wynne, New Orleans, Barry J. and Dianne Wynne, Baker, and Brian and Kathy Wynne, Prairieville; two sisters, Grace Dehlinger, Stevens Point, Wis., and Maxine Fischer, Chicago; 11 grandchildren, Scott and Ryan Wengert, Traci L. Collins, William P., Robert P., Shelby, Matthew, Jonathan, Kristen, Christopher and Jennifer Wynne; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, William J. Wynne; parents, Elliott and Minnie Durrant Mooney; and a daughter-in-law, Michaelle Wynne. A special thank you to her friend and caregiver, Gwen Hayes, for years of loving care. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing in Duluth, Minn.

ZERINGUE, GERTRUDE HAYDEL "GERT"
A homemaker and a lifelong resident of St. James, she died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Thibodaux Hospital & Health Center. She was 78. Entombment in St. James Catholic Church mausoleum, St. James. Survived by her husband of 57 years, Stanley P. Zeringue, St. James; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Al Allday, Prairieville, Claire and Paul LeBlanc , Labadieville, Mable and Ricky Oubre, Vacherie, Peggy and Randy Trudeau, Chalmette, Connie and James Granier, Chackbay, Claudia and Stephen Mistretta, St. James, and Faye and Claude Ordoyne, Prairieville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald J. and Marilyn Zeringue, Donaldsonville, and Glenn and Sharon Zeringue, St. James; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mathilda Bourgeois, Westwego, Adelaide H. and Vincent Signorelli, New Orleans, Bertha H. Grangnard, Lafayette, Marilyn and Kenneth Rowan, Metairie, and Jeanette Louise H. Carter, Pineville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph P. and Augusta Haydel, Claude H. and Marcelle Haydel and Walter and Rosemary Haydel, all of New Orleans; and 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Premilas J. Haydel and Claudia Landry Haydel; a brother, Beverly Haydel; a granddaughter, Bridget Oubre; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Falgoust. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Association. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

ALLAIN SR., NELSON "PECO"
Retired from Kaiser Aluminum Corp., he died at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at his residence in Port Allen. He was 85, a native of Brusly and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a charter member of the Brusly Hunting Club. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise Levert Allain; a son and daughter-in-law, Nelson "Cal" Jr. and Lydia Martin Allain of Port Allen; grandchildren, Michael Allain of Prairieville, Michele Allain Parker of Zachary, Mark Allain and wife Jackie of Yazoo City, Miss., Eric Allain and wife Tricia of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kellie Allain of Port Allen; great-grandchildren, Emilie Allain, Trent Parker and Eric Henry; a brother, Ferd Allain Sr. of Port Allen; and a sister, Marjorie Allain Keigley of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Ermine Thibodeaux Allain; and brothers, Ira, Eldon, Millard, Ned and Layne Allain.

BARBAY, HESTER LEE CHANEY
Died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at her home in Gonzales at the age of 87. She was retired from Our Lady of the Lake regional Medical Center. She was a native of Baton Rouge. interment in Carpenter's Chapel Cemetery in Galvez. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles L. Barbay of Gonzales and Curtis and Christine Barbay of Baton Rouge; a brother, Milton Chaney of Prairieville; granddaughter, Tammy B. Pinsonat of Central; and two grandsons, Bryan P. Barbay and Mark A. Barbay, both of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Barbay; parents, Lafayette and Daisy Devall Chaney; three brothers, Bothney, Lee and Pearly Chaney; three sisters, Lellie Web, Ethel Clements, Mallie Breaud; and loved nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Judge Carl Guidry, Bryan Barbay, Brian Pinsonat, Pete Carmona, Mark Barbay and Robert Sigrest. She was a member of St. Amant Baptist Church. She will be missed by many of her loved ones.

BROOM, JOYCE ANN
Departed this life at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Ascension Care Center, Gonzales. She was 54 and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville. interment in Donaldsonville Protestant Cemetery. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Broom of Donaldsonville and Edward and Wanda Broom of Yuma, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Angelina and Marquette Brooks of Lawton, Okla.; a godchild, Latisha Megan Butler, whom she later adopted; a sister, Ada Marie Broom of Gonzales; a brother and sister-in-law, Irvin Sr. and Margie Washington of Donaldsonville; 10 grandchildren, an aunt, four uncles, nieces, nephews including Curtis Broom whom she helped raise, numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes Washington and Harry Broom; a brother, Harry Lee Washington ; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

CARTER, THERESA JOHNSON KOUSH
A native of St. James and a resident of Donaldsonville, she died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. She was 59. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. James. Survived by her mother, Rebecca Washington John- son; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia and Margarete Carter, Stephanie and Andy Harry and Sandy and Melvin Celestin; three sons, David and Michael Carter and Ron Johnson ; four sisters, Shirley Dixon, Brenda Simmons and Paulette and Gloria Johnson ; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul and Cresia, Edward Jr. and Ronald Johnson ; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her father, Edward Johnson Sr.; three sisters, Diane Knockum, Eula Mae Brown and Jacquelyn Robinson; two brothers, Warren and Joseph Johnson ; and a niece, Susan Vaughn.
