Survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline F. and Lee Warm of Clinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Alpha Chaney Feierabend of Clinton; three nieces, Beatrice and Tom Willette of Tennessee, Karen and Thomas Vaughn of Baton Rouge, and Lillie and Joe Davi Ortiz of Slidell; two nephews, Vernon and Teressa S. Feierabend of Texas , and Anthony and Laura Brian Feierabend of Slaughter; three great-nieces and three great-nephews. A resident of Hammond, he died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was 75 and a native of Independence. Visiting at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, from 9 a.m. Friday until religious services at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Paul McDuffie. interment in Colonial Cemetery. Survived by two sons, Charles Gennaro, Mobile, Ala., and Mark Gennaro, Yazoo City, Miss.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Whalen, Independence. GEORGE, LEE AUDREY "ARKIE"
A retired psychiatric aide with East Louisiana State Hospital, Jackson , with 18 years of service, she died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. GOODSON, ANN ARCHER
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Regency Place. She was 57. HARRIS, BEATRICE AARON "BEA"

MILLER, MURRAY V.
Went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 73, a native of Mount Hermon and a resident of Baton Rouge. He retired from Holsum Bakery and was a U.S. Army veteran. Survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Glendowyn Fields Miller of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Marilyn Bessonett and husband John of Denham Springs, and Germaine Purcell and husband Donnie of Aikens, S.C.; a sister, Dianne Knight of Baker; three granddaughters and husbands, Mekell and Chris Traylor, Sharla and Zane Garrison and Christen and Trevor Jones; two great-grandchildren, two nieces, a great-niece and three great-nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Della Miller; and a sister, Nadine Reech. PEAK, BEATRICE KNIGHTEN "TEDDY"
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. She was 76 and a native of Clinton. Survived by her husband, Lawrence Peak; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deloris and Isaac McCullough, Dyan and Reginald Davis, and Audrey Brown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Elden Robert and Ruth Knighten and Wayne and Hilda Knighten; a sister, Albertha Young; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Myrtis Knighten, all of Baton Rouge; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. PRICE, BOBBY L.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he went to rest Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. A resident of Greenwell Springs, he was 59, born March 5, 1942, in Brookhaven, Miss. His parents were Leroy G. and Lois Price. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Thornton Price; two daughters, Ellen and husband Robert Kreamer of Denham Springs and Caroline and husband Judson Smith of Denham Springs; a grandchild, Michael E. Garvin of Denham Springs; a sister, Linda and husband David Smith of Baton Rouge; a brother, Glenn and wife Betty Price of DeSoto, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy G. and Lois Price; and two brothers, Johnnie L. Price and James Garland Price. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a electronic technician for more than 30 years. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. A retired food service technician with the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, she died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at her home in Gonzales. She was 81 and a native of Houston, Miss. Visiting at Christian Assembly Full Gospel, Gonzales, from 6 p.m. until religious services at 7 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Pastor Richard Rayborne. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Friday. interment in New St. John Fellowship Cemetery, Gonzales. Survived by three stepdaughters, Ethel Pinell and husband Severia, Ella Williams and husband Richard, and Elmire Raven; four stepsons, Henry Raven and wife Brenda, Harold Raven and wife Bonnie, and Hugh and Horace Raven; seven sisters, Earie H. Butler, Peggy Carlisle, Gwendolyn Cooper, Sylvia Huddleston, Gloria J. Huddleston, Elmira Huddleston and Naomi Alexander; three brothers, Rufus Huddleston and wife Albertine, and Melvin and Claude Huddleston; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. SIMS, ELIZABETH KING "NANNY"
A resident of Zachary, she died at 6:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Zachary. She was 91 and a native of New Roads. Splann and husband Gilbert, Evelyn Sims and Lula M. Dunn and husband James; two sons, Gilbert Sims Jr. and wife Brunetta, and Percy Sims and wife Catherine; 33 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Sims Sr.; parents, Jim and Eva King; a sister, Eliza King White ; three brothers, John, Howard and Napoleon King; and a granddaughter, Gilderette L. Sims.

A homemaker and a resident of Opelousas, she died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001. She was 97 and a native of Louisiana . Visiting was at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, Opelousas, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Landry Catholic Church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, celebrated by the Rev. Gene Tremie. interment in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. Survived by three daughters, Velma Thibodeaux and husband Percy, and Betty Valin, all of Opelousas, and Gayle Soileau and husband Charles, Baton Rouge; a sister, Rhea D. Guillory, Ville Platte; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Claude Soileau; parents, Adema and Alice Dupre Soileau; two brothers, Yves and Ferdenand Deshotels; five sisters, Cora Johnson , Odette LaFleur, Clonise Johnson , Heloise Ardoin and Emiley Johnson .

SPEARS, RONNIE LEDELL
A resident and native of Clinton, he died at 12:44 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Earl K. Long Medical Center. He was 33. Visiting at Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Religious services at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton, at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Johnnie L. Turner, pastor. interment in church cemetery. Survived by his father and stepmother, James and Jan Matthews; maternal grandmother, Myrtis P. Spears; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Mary Matthews; a brother, Johnny Ray Holmes; five aunts, five uncles, 10 great-aunts, five great-uncles; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his mother, Vera Mae Spears; and maternal great-grandparents, Clarence Sr. and Lizzie T. Powers.

SPEARS, RUTH RITCHIE OTT VARNADO
After a six-month courageous battle with cancer, Ruth Spears Passed away surrounded by her family at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001. She fought it to the end and went out like a champion. Ruth was born in Osyka, Miss., on Feb. 21, 1932, the first of two daughters of Kenneth and Eunice Simmons Ott. She attended school in Osyka and graduated in 1948. She continued her education at South West Junior College, graduating in 1950. She married Alton Varnado in 1952 and together they raised four children. They lived in Mississippi and Louisiana and moved to Helena, Mont., in 1962. While in Helena, she was personnel director at St. Peter's Hospital from 1962 to 1970, when she moved back home to Mississippi. In 1971, she married June Austin Spears and they raised 10 children together. They settled in Kentwood. She began working at the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office in the property tax department. She absolutely loved her job and the wonderful people she worked with. She retired in 1998. She loved to crochet, knit and sew and spend time with her family. She loved watching her grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren have many prized possessions made by their "Maw Maw" that they will cherish forever. She was a member of the Greenlaw Baptist Church and served as treasurer for many years. The members of the church were like family to her. Her mother and father preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her stepmother, Nova Ott, who was very special to her. Her only sibling, Margaret Ann Ott Blackwell, resides in Baton Rouge. There also are many special nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband and soulmate, June Austin, at the family home in Kentwood; three daughters, Linda Ann Brandon-Kjos and her husband Ora Kjos of Helena, Jeanine Spears Ballard of Osyka, and Leigh Ann Wrather and husband Paul of San Diego; seven sons, Ken and Mickey Varnado, and Culver Varnado and wife Kathy, all of Helena, Alton "Tiance" Varnado, Jamie Spears and wife Lynne, William Spears and June Austin Spears Jr., all of Kentwood, and John Mark Spears and wife Misty, all of Osyka. Her children and grandchildren were her heart. She was very proud of all of them and was always there for them. They will miss being able to phone Maw Maw at any hour of the day just to talk. Maw Maw cherished those phone calls. She was always there to listen or to help them in any way she could. She was very precious to everyone. She is survived by 24 grandchildren. Her oldest grandchild, Bree Ann Brandon Bishop, is her only married grandchild. She and her husband, Nathan, reside in Helena. Also residing in Helena are Gina Brandon, Kristian Kjos, Jason, Jesse and Xandrea Varnado and Eric Varnado. Grandchildren residing in Kentwood are Jamie Lynn Spears, Jessica and Jarek Spears and Heather, Samantha and Katelynne Spears. Residing in New York are Chad Brandon, Britney Spears and Bryan Spears, and in Osyka are Tarra and Cally Ballard, Miranda Spears and Sabrina and Shyannah Coleman. Tori, Rayna Ruth and MacKenzie Wrather reside in San Diego. Very special people in her life were James and Sue Spears, her in-laws. The Lord told her it was time to rest and her family told her to spread her "Special Angel Wings" and go to that better place, and so she did. We love you dearly, Mom. The wake was Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at 6 p.m. at Greenlaw Baptist Church, La. 51, Kentwood. The funeral services will be held at the church Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Riley Hinton officiating. McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements.

TEMPLET, GUY E.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather and a native of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II, having served overseas in the European Theater of Operations for more than four years. He returned home to complete his engineering degree at LSU. During his professional career, he spent many years in this country, South and Central America and the islands in his association with Arthur G. Keller. He retired from Rubicon Chemicals in Geismar. Eldred had many talents and interests. His very favorites were reading, golf, woodworking and the yard. He loved his years of volunteer work in the recovery room at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, American Legion Post 38, Knights of Columbus Council 69 and the City Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eneaux and Mabel Templet; and two sisters, Janice Gilbert and Dorothy Prudhomme. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, the former Mitzi Grouchy; a daughter, Bonnie Dicapo and her husband, Rick; a daughter, Susan Vaught of Covington; two grandsons, Joseph Dicapo and Andrew Vaught; his twin brother, Donald Templet of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and his little buddy, Silky. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff of Unit II at Ollie Steele Burden Manor for their excellent care of and devotion to Eldred. There will be a memorial Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, celebrated by the Rev. Miles Walsh.

A resident of Raleigh, N.C., he died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Raleigh Community Hospital. He was 63 and a native of Walker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Religious services at Revival Temple, Walker, at 12:30 p.m. Friday. interment in Revival Temple Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Fannie Williams; a daughter, Mary Carlene Williams; sons, Terry Steven Williams and Rinnie D. Williams; sisters, Joyce Fulgham, Beverly Harrington and Glenda Myers; a brother, Robert S. Williams; and grandchildren, Steven, Carolyn, Jacob and Abigail "Abby."

WIRTH, CARLENE MILANO
A homemaker, school volunteer and childcare provider, she died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at her parent's home in Donaldsonville. She was 44, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Donaldsonville. Visiting was held at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Randy Cuevas. Entombment in Ascension Mausoleum. A beloved wife and loving mother, she is survived by her husband, Maurice Wirth, Donaldsonville; father and mother, Carlton L. and Beverly Meyer Milano, Donaldsonville; a daughter, Kimberlye Wirth, Donaldsonville; a godchild, Rebecca Roques; two sisters, Jamie Milano Roques, Baton Rouge and Leslye Milano, Prairieville; and a brother-in-law, Peter Roques, Darrow.
