BILLY J. HAGAR
Funeral services for Billy Joe Hagar, 44, of Longville, were held Monday Oct. 15, in Faith Baptist Church.
The Rev. Dan Perego officiated. Burial was in Hagar Cemetery.
Mr. Hagar died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in a Houston hospital.
A native of Lake Charles, he was a mental health technician for both Allen Parish Hospital and DeQuincy Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Hagar of Longville; one daughter, Jessica Williams of Ragley; one brother, Wayne Hagar of DeQuincy; two sisters, Lois Mitchell of Gillis and Thelma Foster of Big Woods ; and one grandchild.
MRS. JUDITH HACKLER HARMON
Funeral services for Mrs. Judith Hackler Harmon, 54, of Sulphur, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mon. Robert Berggreen, officiated. Burial was in Green Oaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge. Arrangements were by Wilbet Funeral Home of Port Allen.
Mrs. Harmon died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 as the result of a car accident.
She was a longtime legal secretary.
Survivors include her husband, Neal Harmon, Port Allen; her father, Frank T. Hackler, Sr., St. Francisville; one daughter, Anne Favrot, Port Allen; six sons, Darrell Favrot, Apex, North Carolina; Robert Favrot, Port Allen, Michael Favrot, Baton Rouge; Vaughn Harmon, Seattle Wash., Sean Harmon, Kingwood, Tex., Brad Harmon, Port Allen; two sisters, Bessie Chase, Gray, Georgia, Lorene Carlin, St. Francisville; one brother, Frank Hackler, Garfield, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and numerous relatives in DeQuincy.
SIDNEY W. MARCANTEL
Funeral services for Sidney W. Marcantel, 72, of DeQuincy will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, in The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Rev. G. David Hennigan and C. J. Walea will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery
under direction of Snider Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 - 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home and from noon at the church.
A life long resident of DeQuincy, Mr. Marcantel was a 1946 DeQuincy High School graduate and attended L.S.U. School of Banking as well as various other financial and banking institutions over the years. He was an officer and banker for Calcasieu Marine Banks from 1947 - 1970, Allen State Bank 1971 - 1974 as well as Highlands State Bank of Houston a number of years and was employed with Cinco Finance, until retirement.
He held a State Insurance license and was a former member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club of DeQuincy. He was a member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy where he was past Sunday School Superintendent and a sing-er/soloist with the Marcantel Trio and Marcantel Family.
Survivors include his wife Louise Marcantel of DeQuincy; one son Vaughn Marcantel of DeQuincy; two daughters Linda Walea of Many and Wanda Vanover of Alexandria; three sisters "Bill" Perkins of DeRidder, "Deanie" Batchelor and Cheryl Mayo both of DeQuincy; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
ALLEN RAY MERICLE
Graveside services for Allen Ray Mericle, 43, of Starks were held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Good Hope Cemetery
in Singer with the Rev. Paul Nugent officiating. Myers-Colonial Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mr. Mericle died at this home Saturday, Oct. 13. He was a life-long resident of Starks.
He is survived by several nephews and a niece.
MARCIA VINCENT
Graveside services for Marcia Vincent, 56, of Sulphur, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Mimosa Pines Cemetery.
The Rev. Francis Fitzsimmons will officiate. Arrangements are by Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur.
Mrs. Vincent died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in her residence.
She was a native of Hanover, Mass., and was a longtime resident of Sulphur. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Vincent of Sulphur; four sons, Jason Vincent and Eric Vincent, both of Dallas, Scott O'Kelley of Ragley and David O'Kelley of Hackberry; one daughter, Jennifer Vincent of Dallas; four brothers, Richard DJerf of Phoenix, Robert DJerf of Los Angeles, David DJerf of Orlando, Fla., and Peter DJerf of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight sisters, Beverly Vloth of Hanover, Marjorie Prouty and Barbara Wheeler, both of Boca Rotand, Fla., Donna Brilliant of Loughman, Fla., Diane Panton and Doreene Chisholm, both of Cape Coral, Jeanette Pierce of Haynes, City, Fla., and Linda DJerf of Sulphur; and five grandchildren.
REV. DELAINE NICHOLS YAW
Funeral services for Rev. Delaine Nichols Yaw, 73, of Trinity, Tex. formerly of DeQuincy will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 16, in Snider Chapel. Rev. Eddie Clement will officiate, with burial in Masonic Cemetery.
Rev. Yaw died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 in a hospital in Conroe, Texas .
A native of DeQuincy and a graduate of DeQuincy High School, she had been a resident of the Houston area since 1950. She was a pastor of Pentecostal ministry a number of years and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors are one son Leighton Harvey Yaw of Conroe, Tex.; one daughter Emma Christine Clardy of Willis, Tex.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
MRS. WINONA L. "SISTER" JONES
Funeral services for Mrs. Winona L. "Sister" Jones, 38, of Starks will be held Thursday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Apostolic Church.
The Rev. Jeremy Shields and Rev. Paul Nugent will officiate. Burial will be under the direction of the Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 in a Lake Charles hospital.
Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Calvary Apostolic Church in Starks and Thursday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. until time of service.
She was a life long resident of the Starks area and worked for the Handicap Center in Vinton.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Jones of Starks; three sons, Shannon G. Jones, Willie Paul Jones and Chad Everett Jones, all of Starks; one brother, Allen Ray Mericle of Starks.
INEZ ARDOIN
Private graveside services for Inez Ardoin, 75, of Ragley, were held Fri., Nov. 23, in Consolata Cemetery.
Monsignor Charles DuBois officiated.
Mrs. Ardoin died Wed., Nov. 21, 2001, in the Kinder hospital.
She co-owned and operated Ardoin's hardware Store with her husband.
Survivors include two sons, Warren Ardoin, Moss Bluff, and Kenneth Ardoin, Lake Charles; one daughter, Pat Lambert, Ragley; one brother, Eddie Ortego, Ville Platte; one sister, Helen Delana, Lafayette; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
AMES H. HUNT
Funeral services for James H. Hunt, 63, of Orange, Tex., were held Sat., Nov. 24, in Calvary Apostolic Church, Starks.
The Rev. Keith Smith officiated; burial was in Hyatt Cemetery, Fields.
Mr. Hunt died Thurs., Nov. 22, 2001, in Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital, Or-ange.
He was a resident of the Starks and Orange areas. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Eldria Hunt, Mauriceville, Tex.; two sons, Ricky Wood, Livingston, Tex., and James Wade Wood, Bridge City, Tex.; four daughters, Jean Wood, Livingston, Sharon Hyatt, Houston, Diana Hunt, Barstow, Fla., and Cassie Brevell, Mauriceville; his mother, Lucille Riley, Vidor, Tex.; one sister, Billie Netterville, Lumberton, Tex.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
MANER M. YELLOTT
Funeral services for Maner M. Yellott, 90, were held Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Eastern Heights Baptist Church. Rev. R. T. Bridges and Rick Dees officiated, burial was in Perkins Cemetery
under direction of Snider Funeral Home.
Mr. Yellott died Sunday, November 25, 2001 in his DeQuincy residence.
A lifelong resident of DeQuincy, he was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where he was instrumental in the building of the church's first sanctuary in 1950. He was a carpenter and a retired Boilermaker from Local #587 of Orange, Tex.
His survivors are: one daughter, Dorothy Yellott of Sulphur; two sons, Sam Yellott, DeQuincy, Randy Yellott, Lake Charles; one brother, David E. Yellott, Aurora, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Heights Baptist, Building Fund.
