MRS. FERN INEZ GRISCOM

Funeral services for Fern Inez Griscom, 80, of Lancaster, Penn. were held Thursday, Jan. 24 at Layton Funeral Home with burial in Salem County Veterans Cemetery in Pilesgrove, Penn.

Mrs. Griscom had worked as a mechanic at the air base in Lake Charles, during World War II. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salem, Penn.

She is survived by her son William E. Griscom of Lancaster, Penn.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Carroll Knight, DeQuincy; Edward C. Shroll, Sulphur, Everett Shroll of Santa Ana, Calif. and three sisters, Edna Shroll Palermo of Yucaipa, Calif., Ira Shroll Broxson of Merryville, and Elise Shroll Crewell, DeQuincy.

MARSHALL M. MOODY

Funeral services for Marshall M. Moody, 64, of Ragley were held Sunday, Jan. 27, in Snider Chapel. Burial was in Duplechin Cemetery in Ragley under direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mr. Moody died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 in an Alexandria Hospital.

A native of Port Arthur, Tex., he had lived in Ragley most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. He was a welder working with various oil and construction companies over the years and he was also a local plumber. He served in the U. S. Navy during Korea.

Survivors include his wife, Mable Frazier Moody of Ragley; four sons, Tim Moody of Saratoga, Tex., Alvin Moody, Houston, Tex., LeRoy Frazier, Deweyville, Tex., Louis Frazier, Baton Rouge; one daughter, Candace Stanley, DeQuincy; two sisters, Marjorie Turnipseed, Duluth, Ga. and Zora Knight, DeQuincy; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

HENRY R. MOORE

Funeral services for Henry Robert Moore, 31, of Lake Charles, were held Jan. 29, in Macedonia Church of God in Christ. The Rev. Rodney Williams officiated. Dismissal will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with burial in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of James Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002.

He was a native of the Creole-Cameron area, and he moved to Lake Charles 12 years ago. He worked for Omega Protein Inc. of Cameron.

Survivors include his wife, Victoria Moore of Lake Charles; four stepsons, Michael Nelson, Gordon Nelson, Reginald Nelson and John Nelson, all of Lake Charles; two stepdaughters, Jasmine Nelson and Kayla Nelson, both of Lake Charles; three brothers, Adams Moore Sr., Arris Moore and Joseph Martin, all of Lake Charles; four sisters, Dorothy R. Reed, DeQuincy and Sylvia A. McCorpeh, Martha A, Moore and Rosie L. Moore, Lake Charles; and his mother, Rosie Lee Moore, Lake Charles.

ALMA BEIRD RICHARDSON

Funeral services for Alma Beird Richardson, 69, of DeQuincy were held Friday, Jan. 25, in First United Methodist Church of DeQuincy. Rev. Carolyn Volentine officiated. Burial was in Perkins Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home.

A lifelong resident of the Starks/DeQuincy area, she was a member of First United Methodist Church of DeQuincy.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Richard and Jon Richardson, both of DeQuincy and Michael Richardson, Jarreau; one daughter, Yvonne Adams, Evanston, Wyo. ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of DeQuincy building fund or a charity of choice, the family said.

MRS. DEVONA B. JOHNSON

RICHARD D. WRIGHT

Private graveside services for DeVona Belle Johnson , 64, of Port Arthur, Tex., and her son, Richard D. "Ricky" Wright, 45, of Sulphur, will be held Sun., Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. at Smith Cemetery in Starks. The bodies were cremated.

Arrangements are by Myers-Colonial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in a Port Arthur hospital.

Mr. Wright died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in Sulphur.

Mrs. Johnson was a native of Starks and had lived in Port Arthur for the past 25 years.

Mr. Wright was a lifelong resident of the Starks and Sulphur areas.

Mrs. Johnson 's survivors include three sons, Terry Johnson , Alan Johnson both of Port Arthur, Michael Johnson , Rockland, Mass.; one daughter, Beverly "Bitsy" Wright, Beaumont; two brothers, Hubert Clark, DeRidder, Willie Clark, Orange; two sisters, Myrtie Butler, Starks and Bobbie Clark, Nederland; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wright's survivors include one daughter, Veronica L. Wright, Sulphur; three brothers, Terry Johnson , Port Acres, Michael Johnson , Rockland, Mass and Alan Johnson , Port Arthur; one sister, Beverly "Bitsy" Wright, Beaumont.

MRS. CHARLIE (DOROTHY E.) BROWN

Mrs. Charlie (Dorothy McDonald Brown), 81, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 in Holly Hill Nursing Home.

A native of Fullerton, she lived most of her life in DeQuincy. She was a homemaker and member of Temple Baptist Church where she was active in W. M. U. and teaching Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.

Survivors are: four sons, Carrol Brown, Keith Brown, Jerry Brown, and Doug Brown, all of DeQuincy; one daughter, Marie Shoemake, Sugarland, Tex.; one sister, Ruth Lyons, DeQuincy; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 3, in Snider Chapel. Rev. Craig Brown officiated. Burial was in Perkins Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Childrens' Home of Monroe.

MRS. GLEN (NETTIE) PARKER

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Parker, 59, of DeQuincy will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 6 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeQuincy. The Rev. Jerry Chaddick will officiate and burial will be in Hyatt Cemetery in Fields.

Mrs. Parker died Monday, June 3, 2002 in a Camden, Ark. hospital. A life long resident of DeQuincy, she was manager of the Ez Mart Store in DeQuincy for the past three years.

Visitation will be at the funeral home 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, and 8 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday.

Survivors include her husband, Glen Parker, Sr. of DeQuincy; two sons, Glen Parker, Jr., of DeQuincy and Elijah Parker of Camden, Ark.; three daughters, Nelda Marie Duncan of Westlake, Maria Louise Parker of DeQuincy, and Cathy Marie Crouse of Bearden, Ark.; one brother, R.C. Pickering, Jr. of Beaumont, Tex.; four sisters, Margie McLaughin, Annie Mae Dalton, Marilyn Anderson, and Ruby Doyle, all of DeQuincy; and 14 grandchildren.

MRS. CLARA PERKINS

Mrs. Clara Perkins, 98, died Friday, May 31, 2002 in the Beauregard Nursing Center.

Her funeral service were held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 3 in Snider Chapel; Clarence Mounce officiated. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery in Singer, under direction of Snider Funeral Home.

A native of Beauregard Parish, she lived in Houston a number of years where she worked in floral sales with Woolworth's Department Store. After her retirement, she lived in DeRidder a number of years. She was of the Christian Faith.

Survivors are: one brother, Almon Perkins, Jr., of Houston, Tex.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

MRS. JACK (ELDA MARIE) TREME

Mrs. Jack (Elda Marie Treme), 94, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 in the DeQuincy Hospital. She was a native of Hathaway, and had resided in DeQuincy since 1937. She was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist church.

She is survived by three sons: Gerald "Winston" Treme of Buhler, Winafard A. "Shrimp" Treme of Gray, and Willard D. "Chief" Treme of DeQuincy; one sister, Eva Guillory of Elton; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.

Her funeral services was held Monday, June 3 in Eastern Heights Baptist Church. Rev. R.T. Bridges, Rev. Ray Bourque, Dr. James Sample, and Rev. Neil Treme officiated. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery under direction of Snider Funeral Home.
