MRS. LILLIE MAE EZERNACK

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mae Ezernack, 87, of DeQuincy will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 in Snider Funeral Home. The Revs. T. D. Cardwell and Harlan Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.

Mrs. Ezernack died Monday, April 7, 2003. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. She had lived in DeQuincy for 62 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Jimmie Strange of Shreveport; one son, Quinon Ezernack, DeQuincy; two grandsons, two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph O. Garcia, Zwolle and William "Bubba" Garcia, Biloxi, Miss.; and two sisters, Gladys Savage and Elaine Ebarb, both of Shreveport.

JOSEPH S. MORAN

Funeral services for Joseph Shane Moran, 45, were held Tuesday, April 8, in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Burial was in Bagdad Cemetery.

Mr. Moran died Saturday, April 5, 2003, in his residence.

He was born in Smithland, Ky., and was a longtime resident of Westlake.

Survivors include three brothers, Daniel and Jerry Moran, both of Westlake, and Gene Steele, DeQuincy; three sisters, Rella Andrepont, Lake Charles, Kay Stine, Hackberry and Pattie Young, Richmond.

MRS. ETTA MAE PITRE

Funeral services for Etta Mae Pitre, 89, were held Thurs., April 3, in the First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy.

The Rev. T. D. Cardwell and the Rev. Burton Ashworth officiated; burial was in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pitre died Monday, March 31, 2003, in her home at Sulphur. She had lived in DeQuincy for 43 years before moving to Sulphur.

She was a pastor's wife for 20 years. She was a Ladies Auxiliary leader and a Sunday school teacher for 40 years. She was active in the ministry for 60 years.

She is survived by three sons, Melvin Pitre, Tulsa, Okla.; Manson C. Pitre and David S. "Beak" Pitre, both of Sulphur; three daughters, Clara Eccles, Dorris West and Billie (Bootsie) White , all of Sulphur; one brother, Edwin (Edward) Alston; one sister, Eunice Martin, both of DeQuincy; 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

BESSIE MAE DANIELS

Funeral services for Bessie Mae Daniels, 91, of Starks, will be held Saturday, June 21, at 1 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church of Starks, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The Rev. Greg Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Mrs. Daniels died Friday, June 13, 2003 in a local hospital.

Born December 12, 1911, Mrs. Daniels was a former resident of DeQuincy and a member of First Pentecostal Church of Starks. She was also a Gold Star Mother of VFW Post 4759 in Starks since 1968.

Survivors include three sons, Ardisteel Daniels of Colorado Springs, Col., Edgar Faulk of Starks, Dillard Faulk, Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii; six daughters, Yvonne Stewart of Buena Park, Calif., Sillersteen Snell of Starks, Neda Faye Burnett of Beaumont, Tex., Bessie Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Brenda Marie Smith of Imperial, Calif., and Linda Jean Shields of El Centro, Calif.; one sister, Rosie Lee Boykin of Houston, Tex.; 32 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.

VERNAL JOSEPH MANUEL

Funeral services for Vernal Joseph Manuel, 63, were at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 15, in Hixson Funeral Home. Deacon Raymond Menard officiated.

Burial was in Prien Mem-orial Cemetery in Lake Charles.

Mr. Manuel died Friday, June 13, in his residence.

He was a native of Mamou and a resident of Lake Charles since 1954. He was a painter with Painters' Local 783. He was a member of St. Margaret Church and was an avid hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Manuel of Lake Charles; his mother, Euna Manuel of Mamou; one son, Toby Manuel of LeBleu Settlement; one daughter, Katina "Tina" McCoy of DeQuincy; one brother, Elrick Manuel of Lake Charles; two sisters, Ethel Deiner of Zwolle and Mary Beltran of Kinder; and six grandchildren.

JAMES L. STAINS

Funeral services for James L. Stains, 77, were held Saturday, June 14 in the Lunita Pentecostal Church in Lunita. The Revs. Walter Morgan, Michael Cole, and Ronald Fox officiated. Burial was in the new Miller Cemetery in Starks.

Mr. Stains died Wednes-day, June 11, 2003 in the DeQuincy hospital. He was a sawmill worker having been employed by General Box Company and also the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. He had lived in DeQuincy for 34 years, having lived in Lunita prior to that time. He was a member of the Lunita Pentecostal Church and VFW Post 3802. He received several medals for his service in the Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stains; five sons, James Elton Stains of Starks, Curtis Stains, William Stains, Dwight Stains, and Wesley Stains; four daughters, Darlene Rainwater, Carolyn Stains, and Elizabeth Rushing, all of DeQuincy, and Tammie Moorehead of Ringgold; one brother, V. G. Stains of Vidor, Tex.; one sister, Melba Inez Burch of Starks; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

ADRIAN D. COX, SR.

Funeral services for Adrian D. Cox, Sr., 85, were held Tuesday, Aug. 5, in DeQuincy United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Teeter officiated. Burial was in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy.

Mr. Cox died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at his home in DeQuincy.

He was a native of Natchtioches and graduated from Natchitoches High School and LSU where he majored in chemical engineering. Mr. Cox moved to DeQuincy and worked at Newport Industries until 1957 when the plant closed. Mr. Cox was employed by Cities Service Oil Company (Citgo) from 1957 until 1982, when he retired at age 64. Mr. Cox was a Mason and served as Master of the Lodge in 1947.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret LeBlanc Cox; two sons, Adrian Douglas Cox Jr. and Daniel David Cox Sr., both of DeQuincy; and five grandchildren.

WINNIE MAE FELICE

Funeral services for Winnie Mae Felice, 72, of Longville, will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, in Trinity Assembly of God Church of DeQuincy. The Revs. Ken Hooper and Larry Talent will officiate. Burial will be in the Beauregard Cemetery.

Mrs. Felice died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 in a Lake Charles hospital.

She was born in Stowell, Texas , and lived most of her life in Longville.

Survivors include her husband, J. W. Felice of Longville; one daughter, Evelyn Partain of Perryopolis, Pa.; four sons, Jerry D. Felice, Ernest J. Felice, and Gene Felice, all of Longville, and Richard D. Felice of Baytown, Texas ; one sister, Rose LaMoyea of Ragley; one brother, Alvin Leon Istre of Ragley; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

RICHARD RANDALL PITRE

Funeral services for Richard R. Pitre, 49, of DeQuincy, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in Northside Baptist Church. Dr. Ray Clark and the Rev. Ron Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mr. Pitre died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in his residence.

He was a native of DeQuincy and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was a maintenance worker for the Calcasieu Parish School Board.

Survivors include his mother, Estelle (Whitman) Pitre of DeQuincy; one son, Matthew Pitre; one daughter, Kayleigh Pitre; two brothers, Robert Edward Damerell and Wendell Leroy Pitre, all of DeQuincy; two sisters, Charlotte Lea Streams of DeQuincy and Catherine Darlene Daikin of Highlands, N. C.

MRS. CLAUDIA ESTELLE BRISTER

Funeral services for Mrs. Claudia Estelle Brister, 77, of DeQuincy were held Friday, Sept. 26 at Trinity Assembly of God with Bro John White officiating. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brister died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2003 in the DeQuincy hospital. She was a life-long resident of the DeQuincy area.

She is survived by her ex-husband, J. B. Brister of DeQuincy; four sons, Tommy, Jimmy, Darrel Wayne, and Donald Jackson all of Morningsport; one step-son, Junior Brister, Arkansas; two daughters, Joyce Clark, DeQuincy and Dianne Stanfield, Oil City; four step-daughters, Sheila Perkins, DeRidder; Jo Ann Marcantel, DeQuincy, Kathy Yellott, Oretta, Rhonda Yellott, DeQuincy; two sisters, Essie Dowden, Orange, Tex. and Dessie May Sepulvado, Zwolle; 31 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

MRS. LILLIE DOUGHARTY MCDONALD

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Dougharty McDonald, 88, of DeQuincy were held Monday, Sept. 29 from the Snider Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Marvin Hicks officiated. Burial was in the Perkins Cemetery.

Mrs. McDonald died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 in the DeQuincy Memorial Hospital.

A native of Oberlin, Mrs. McDonald had lived in DeQuincy for over 50 years. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include four sons, Rev. Allie Ray Dougharty of Mauriceville, Tex., Durwood Dougharty, Troy Dougharty and Danny Dougharty, all of DeQuincy; two daughters, Birdie Alston, Ragley and Velma Baier, Nikiski, Alaska; three sisters, Gladys Cooley, Oberlin, Lora Young, Mitte, and Helen Baggett, Longville; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
