MRS. PEGGY STATUM

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Statum, 60, of Starks will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. in Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeQuincy with the Rev. Greg Frazier officiating. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be form 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Statum died Sunday, Sept 28, 2003 in the DeQuincy Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Starksville, Miss. and had lived in Starks most of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Bo" Statum of Starks; two sons, Charles Wayne Statum, Carencro and Kenneth Dale Statum, Starks; two daughters, Theresa Guidry, Starks and Stacy S. Runte, Lake Charles; two brothers C. D. Murphy, Mississippi and David Murphy, Texas ; four sisters, Martha Stanley and Jackie Ashworth, both of Starks, Myrtie Yaw and Jean Grimes, both of Texas .

JODEE LYNN WILLIS

Funeral services for Jodee Lynn Willis, 27, of DeQuincy were held Sunday, Sept. 28 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder with burial in Old Cypress Cemetery at DeRidder. Rev. George L. Glass, Jr. and Rev. George Lee Glass officiated.

His survivors include: his wife, Maria Willis, of DeQuincy; one son Ronald Serafin Willis; two daughters, Victoria Alexandra Willis and Jessica Lynn Willis, all of DeQuincy; his mother, Debra Clark, DeRidder; his father, Michael Lee Willis, Rosepine; one brother, Michael Shaun Willis, San Antonio, Tex., one sister, LeAnne Michelle Willis, DeRidder; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Clark of DeRidder.

THERESA DARLENE ARRANT

Funeral services for Theresa Darlene Arrant, 33, formerly of DeQuincy, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26 at Snider Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Bourque will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mrs. Arrant died Sunday, Nov. 23 in Shreveport.

She was a 1988 graduate of DeQuincy High School.

Survivors include her parents Troy & Tommie Kaye (Davie) Arrant of Shreveport; six children, Kasha, Miranda, Abigal, Timothy, Annabelle, and K. K.; one brother, Terrell Arrant, Shreveport; three sisters, Trolinda Shoemake and Tammi Hodges, both of DeQuincy and Tonya Katz, Haughton.

JOSEPH R. FONTENOT SR.

Funeral services for Joseph R. (Randy) Fontenot Sr., 47, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, in First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. The Revs. Wade Lormand, Carl Wheatley and Dan Perego will officiate. A committal service will be in Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mr. Fontenot died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in DeQuincy.

He was a lifelong resident of the DeQuincy-Ragley area. He was employed with the United Oil Field and an avid fan of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Fontenot of Ragley; one son Joseph "Joey" R. Fontenot Jr., Lake Charles; two daughters, Jennifer Fontenot, DeQuincy and Leighann Fontenot, Moss Bluff; one brother, Wade Fontenot, DeQuincy; three sisters, Kathy Bradley, Nederland, Tex., Sally Kennedy, Thibodaux, and Sandra Chambers, St. Rose; and five grandchildren.

MASON EARL SLAYDON

Funeral services for Mason Earl Slaydon, 41, of DeQuincy were held Friday, Nov. 21 in the Chapel of Snider Funeral Home. The Revs. George Smith, Lyndon Longoria, and Lloyd Parker officiated. Burial was in Newlin Cemetery in Singer.

Mr. Slaydon died Sunday, Nov. 16 in his residence. He was born in Beaumont, Tex., but had lived almost all of his life in the DeQuincy/Singer area.

Survivors include his wife, G. G. Slaydon of DeQuincy; his father, Robert Earl Slaydon and his stepmother Yvonne, DeRidder; his mother, Nancy Louise Parker, and his stepfather, Allan, DeQuincy; two sons, Daniel Flay Slaydon, DeRidder and Robert Allan Slaydon, DeQuincy; one step-son, Steven Brown, DeQuincy; grandparents Dude and Lucille Slaydon of DeRidder and Mrs. Aline Borland and a step-grandmother Mrs. Lola Parker, both of DeQuincy.

MRS. INEZ ELIZABETH VANWINKLE

Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Elizabeth VanWinkle, 86, of DeQuincy were held Sunday, Nov. 23 at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. The Revs. G. David and Jeff Hennigan officiated. A committal service followed in Bilbo Cemetery under the direction of Snider Funeral Home.

Mrs. VanWinkle died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 in the DeQuincy hospital. She was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy, and a member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy.

Survivors include two sons, Robert VanWinkle of DeQuincy and Richard VanWinkle, Orange, Tex.; one brother, Melton Barrow, Pineland, Tex.; one sister, Irene VanWinkle, Pineland, Tex.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

MARIE COLLINS

Grace Marie Collins, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at her home in Ragley.

Mrs. Collins was a native of Plainview, Tex., and had been a resident of Ragley since 1964. She was a charter member of Squyres United Methodist Church of Ragley. She was a member of United Methodist Women, where she served actively at the local and district levels. She also was a member of the ABC Quilter organization. She served with the Ragley Home demonstration.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Trueman Reagan Collins; four daughters, Cathy Bollich of Ragley, Becky Hensgens of Lake Charles, Antheia Dickerson of Wasilla, Alaska and DeAnn Fontenot of Forest Hill; three brothers, Joseph Hatch, Jr. of Plainview, Tex., Harley Hatch of Lakeview, Tex. and Howard Hatch of Plainview, Tex.; four sisters, Daisy Hatch Langford of Dimmitt, Tex., Julia Hatch Hollis of Memphis, Tenn., Edith Hatch Simms of Plainview, Tex., and Edna Hatch Marritt of Lubbock, Tex. and 11 grandchildren.

Her funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 1, in Squyres United Methodist Church of Ragley. The Rev. Lisa Turnbull officiated. Burial was in Squyres Risinger Memorial Park Cemetery.

BILLY DOYLE

Billy Doyle, 63, of DeRidder died Thursday, Jan. 29.

Mr. Doyle was a native of Singer. He lived in Baton Rouge for several years before moving back to DeRidder.

Survivors include one son, Lonnie Doyle of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Shanna Doyle of Baton Rouge and Brittney Doyle of Leesville; three brothers, Carl Doyle of DeRidder, Alfred Doyle of Singer and Steve Doyle of DeRidder; and one grandchild.

His funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 31, in Myers Colonial Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Clark officiated. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.

JARROD DRAKE

Funeral services for Jarrod Drake, 37, of Cotton Valley were held Saturday, Jan. 17 in Cotton Valley, at Valley Peace Baptist Church. The Rev. Calvin Harris officiated.

Burial was in Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

He died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004. He was a native of Cotton Valley and a member of Valley Peace Baptist Church.

He served eight years in the United States Army Reserve: Rank - Weekend Sergeant

He was a Mason at the Bright Star Lodge #56 is Cotton Valley and was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He also served as Dean of Pledges.

He was a 1985 graduate of Cotton Valley High and graduated from Grambling State University with a Technical Engineering Degree.

His survivors include: his mother, Helen Drake, Minden; one daughter, Kenyata Lewis, Cotton Valley; one son, Jon Christon Drake, Dallas, Tex.; one brother, Ernest Drake, II; two sisters, Cassandra Gayle Drake and Katrina Drake, all of Topeka, Kan.; paternal grandfather, Nolan Jackson , Minden, and 1 granddaughter.

LUDIE L. DUNHAM

Funeral services for Mrs. Ludie L. Dunham, 78, of DeQuincy, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the Snider Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. T. D. Cardwell will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.

Mrs. Dunham died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Dunham was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy. She was member of the First United Pentecostal Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and worked as a volunteer at the DeQuincy Memorial Hospital as a pink lady.

Survivors include her husband, Harold W. Dunham, Sr. of DeQuincy; two sons, Harold W. Dunham, Jr. of Houston, Tex. and William "Bill" Dunham of Arizona; two sisters, Grace Wood of DeQuincy and Estelle Allen of Beaumont, Tex.

JAMES FRANKS, II

James Franks, II, 52, of Singer died Monday, Feb. 2, in DeQuincy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5 in Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder with the Rev. Garrett Fuselier officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at DeRidder.

Mr. Franks was a native of DeRidder and had lived in Singer for the last 10 years. He worked for Phelps Correctional Center in DeQuincy for approximately 11 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Franks of Singer; one son, James Franks, III of DeRidder; one step-daughter, Kayla Northcutt of Rayne; mother, Sadie Cryer of DeRidder; three brothers, Wesley Cooke of Brandon, Miss., Mack Franks of Moss Bluff, Joe Franks of DeRidder and three grandchildren.

JAMES HAROLD ILES

The funeral for James Harold "Jimmie" Iles, 81, of DeRidder was held Sunday, Feb. 1, in First Baptist Church of DeRidder. Dr. Whit Holmes officiated. Burial was in Sugartown Cemetery of Sugartown.

Mr. Iles died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in Beauregard Memorial Hospital of DeRidder.

Mr. Iles was a descendant of pioneer families in Southwest Louisiana . He was born in Sugartown and attended school there until the family moved to DeRidder in 1935. He graduated from DeRidder High School in 1939. He attended Northwestern State College, then known as Normal in Natchitoches. He then entered LSU in Baton Rouge and majored in accounting.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Air Force. In 1960, he was appointed chief deputy sheriff of Beauregard Parish, where he served until his retirement in December 1985.

He was chairman of Beauregard Parish Salvation Army unit; president of Dixie Youth Baseball for many years; commander of American Legion Post No. 27; served for many years as treasurer of DeRidder Lions Club; was recipient of First Outstanding Law Officer given by Kiwanis Club; and was king of both Beauregard Parish Fair and Mardi Gras.

He is survived by his wife, JoElla LaCaze Iles of DeRidder; one son Randall Iles of DeQuincy; two step-children, R.Ray Orrill II of New Orleans and Jolene Orrill Stotz of Plano, Tex.; one sister, Pauline Iles Zane of DeRidder and one grandchildren.
