Aileen Nugent

Visitation for Aileen Sanders Nugent, 84, will be held on Friday Aug. 3, 2012 after 5 until 8 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nugent was born in Dry Creek on Sept. 17, 1927 to the union of Pamal E. and Ada Greene Sanders and passed from this life on Sunday morning July 29, 2912 at Grace Home after an extended illness.

She was a retired teacher with Rapides Parish School System, having taught at Central, Pineville High, Tioga Junior High and Louisiana College. She was a resident of Pineville and held a degree of Masters plus Thirty. She was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dayson O. Nugent

She is survived by her children, Dewain Nugent, Paula Walker and husband Jeff, Rodney H. Nugent, Venson L. Nugent and wife Laurie; her brother Lynwood Sanders; grandchildren, Gabriel Walker, Isabella Walker and Gabriel Rutter.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Louisiana College the Ada G. Sanders Scholarship Fund.

Albert Blanchette

Albert Joseph (A. J.) Blanchette, 78, of Lake Charles, died on Thursday, July 26, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. Blanchette served in the United States Army. He worked for the Lake Charles Fire Department for 34 years as an Assistant Fire Chief. Mr. Blanchette was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helena J. Blanchette of Lake Charles; one son, James Marlin Blanchette and his wife Maleia of DeQuincy; one daughter, Twilla Blanchette Fontenot and husband Johnny of Heath, Texas ; two stepsons, James Gregory Manuel and wife Jill of Grand Lake, and Richard Bagley and wife Annette of Westlake; three stepdaughters, Donna Bagley Tanner and husband David of Westlake, Kitty (Connie) Bruns and husband Richard of Lake Charles and Renee Arabie and husband Hayward of Fenton; one sister Margaret Blanchette LeBlanc of Lake Charles; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Cleona Blanchette; one brother; and two sisters.

His funeral was held on Tuesday, July 31, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Father Wayne LeBleu was the celebrant. Burial was in Consolata Cemetery.

Joseph Bourriague

Joseph Andrew Bourriague, 87, died in his residence surrounded by his family.

He was a native of Creole, attended school in Creole and church at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He served on the Cameron Parish Police Jury for many years. Joseph was employed in the oil field and at the Cameron Parish Sheriff Department. He served in the United States Army during WW II.

His survivors included his wife, Norma; sons, Edward (Tabatha) of Longville, David (Lisa) of Longville, Lefty of Lake Charles; daughters, Peggy Conner (Victor) of Pecan Island, Donna Verzwyvelt (John) of Grand Lake, Helen Conner (Adrian “Duke”) of Pecan Island and Mary Ellis (Eric) of Bridge City; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Camellia Savoie Bourriague; son, Michael; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and first wife, Barbara Mae LaBove.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Creole Saturday, June 30, with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home.

Milton LeJune

Milton John "MJ" LeJune, 86, of Moss Bluff died Sunday, June 24, 2012 in his residence.

He was born in DeRidder, was raised in Ragley and lived in Moss Bluff. He was a retired superintendent with the US Post office after 42 years of service. He was a US Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 370 in Westlake. He served his country with the US Army Engineers Division.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Joyce Carroll LeJune of Moss Bluff; sons, Roger Dale LeJune of Moss Bluff, and James Randy LeJune of Lake Charles; daughter, Renae Hartliep of Tuscon, Ariz; brothers, Jimmy LeJune of Franklin, Texas and Jesse LeJune of DeRidder; sisters, Ethel Cook and Velma Morgan both of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

His funeral was held Friday, June 29, at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Ronnie Burke officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley.

Linda Rutherford

Linda Trahan Rutherford, 58, of Ragley died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in her residence.

She was a native of Moss Bluff and lived in Ragley. She attended Sam Houston High School.

Survivors include her companion, Calvin L. Miller; daughter, Michelle Renee Fontenot and husband, John of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; son, Jason Troy Prater and wife, Alyson of Cartersville, Ga.; brother, David Lewis Trahan of Longville; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mabel Trahan; one brother; and one nephew.

Her funeral was held Saturday, June 30, at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Rev. Jaceson Johnson officiated. Burial was in old Richie Cemetery.

Pamela Burnett

Pamela Burnett, 44, of Dry Creek, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in her residence.

She is survived by her son, Alvis Joseph Breaux, Jr. and wife Brittany of Pierre Part; daughters, Stormy Breaux of Dry Creek and Sandra Perry and husband Derek of El Centro, Calif; sisters, Viva Burnett of Phoenix, Ariz., Norma Neel of Ragley, Ella Mae Mabile and husband Harris of Longville, Debbie Landry and husband Keith of Belle River, Barbara Lisotta and husband Johnny of Ragley, Denise Clark and husband Mike of Longville, Tina Guillory of Westlake; brothers, Wesley Burnett and wife Cindy of Amarillo, Texas , and Homer Burnett and wife Monique of Canyon, Texas ; five grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Burnett; and father, Willie (Bill) Burnett.

Funeral service were held at Faith Baptist Church in Ragley, on Saturday, July 21, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Smith officiated. Burial was at Dry Creek Cemetery.

Ida Harris

Ida was born to Preston Carmon and Elda Noel Carmon on Apr. 11, 1927 in the midst of the Great Flood. She was born in LeBeau, where she attended Immaculate Conception School.

After moving to DeQuincy, she married Aubrey Harris, Jr. in 1947. To this union six children were born: Rose (Albert) May, Mary Lee Esther (deceased), Audrey, Whitney, James (Linda), and Nora.

She is also survived by four sisters, Margie Shaw, Mildred Thomas, Augusta (Michael) Rideaux, and Betty (John) Rideaux; four brothers, Preston, Cecil, Whitney and Kenneth (Carol) Carmon; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lee Esther; her parents, Preston and Elda Carmon; two brothers, Clarence and John Carmon; and one grandson, Micah Pinkney.

She was employed as a paraprofessional working with special students with the Calcasieu Parish Schools for over 20 years.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in DeQuincy with burial in Community Cemetery in DeQuincy.

Rosie Tinsley

Rosie Lee “Bobbie” Tinsley, 67, of DeQuincy, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Lake Charles.

Survivors include her husband, Denver Roy Tinsley; daughters, Sandy Wilkerson and husband Bubba and Carolyn Clark and husband Brad; brother, Clayton Doyle and wife Ruby, all of DeQuincy; her grandchildren, James Wilkerson III and wife Emily of Shreveport; Arlene Wilkerson of Lake Charles, and Christopher Clark of DeQuincy; and great-grandchildren, James Wilkerson IV and Catherine Wilkerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie and Acie Doyle; and sister, Louise Daigle.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, at Hargrove Bible Baptist Church. Burial was at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer. Bro. Paul Nugent officiated.

Pressley Savoy

Presley F. Savoy, 93, of Lumberton, Texas died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on Mar. 31, 1919, in Pilette to Gertrude Comeaux Savoy and Jules A. Savoy, and had been a resident of the area for 30 years.

Presley was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II and he retired after 46 years of service as a telegraph operator with Missouri/Union Pacific Railroad. He was a longtime member of The Apostolic Church, and was a man of great faith.

Survivors include his wife, Verdois A. Savoy; daughter, Karen Savoy Hughes and husband, Carlos; and granddaughter, Amber Hughes Landry and husband, Shane, all of Lumberton; and sisters, Maudred Larson of Lafayette and Emily Cusimano of Metairie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lena Benoit.

A gathering of Mr. Savoy’s family and friends was held from 4 until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

His funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15, at The Apostolic Church, 3333 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, with interment following at Creel Memorial Gardens, Reeves.

Shirley Simien

Shirley M. Simien of DeQuincy died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of LaSallete Catholic Church Saturday, July 21 at 1 p.m under the direction of Braxton Funeral Home of Oberlin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12-1 p.m.

Dr. George Fisher

Dr. George Robert Fisher, 68, a DeRidder dentist, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home in DeRidder. He was a native of DeQuincy.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 13, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Evans officiating. interment was in Talbert Cemetery in Pitkin.

Dr. Fisher is survived by his wife, Rolanne Fetters Fisher of DeRidder; one daughter, K C Fisher Rupf (Dave) of Ragley; two sons, Laird Fisher of Norman, Okla. and Dr. Rawleigh Fisher (Sarah) of Lake Charles; one brother, Jack Fisher (Coni) of Shrevpeport; and eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
