Retired founder and co-owner of Ramer's Grocery and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was 81 and a native of Lacour. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Visiting at Jefferson United Methodist Church, 10328 Jefferson Highway, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Carol Winn, pastor. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by three daughters, Irma and husband Robert Bates of Zachary, and Linda Levet and Helen and husband Randy Barrilleaux, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, George and wife Brenda Arrington Ramer of Florien and John and wife Bobbie Breaux Ramer of Lafayette; a sister, Dorothy and husband Morice Mayeux of Gonzales; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Arthur K. (Harriet) Barton of Baton Rouge. Her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren are John and wife Sue Tonione and children, Joshua, James and Sydney; Kimberly and husband Jon Salter and daughter, Corinne; Randall and wife Janis Barrilleaux and daughters, Rebecca and Juliette; Ernie and wife Joanne Barrilleaux and children, Christen and Casen; Curtis and wife Teli Barrilleaux and daughters, Audrey and Olivia; Michael Barrilleaux; Ashley and husband Paul Clement; Scott Levet and daughters, Taylor Mya and Leigh; and Eric, Travis and Amanda Ramer. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and innumerable friends whom she considered family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Ramer; her parents, Arthur K. Barton and Irma Miller Barton; sisters, Claudia Hoyt and Katherine Barton; and brothers, Irvin Barton and Arthur K. Barton Jr. Pallbearers will be Scott Levet, Curtis, Michael and Ernie Barrilleaux, Jon Salter, Paul Clement, Eric Ramer and John Tonione. Honorary pallbearers are Randall Barrilleaux, Terry Gahn, Travis Ramer, Josh Tonione, Sidney Nesom, Bob Bates and Randy Barrilleaux. Her only hobby was loving her fellow man with an unconditional love and sharing her hugs and kisses with everyone. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2041 Silverside Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 or Louisiana Special Olympics, 1000 E. Morris Ave., Hammond, LA 70403.

ROBINSON, JR. COSTELLO
Died peacefully at home at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001. He was 74 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until religious services at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Ivory Payne. Dismissal Wednesday at 10 a.m. interment in Winnfield Memorial Park.

RODRIGUE, VELMA LEGENDRE "AUNT T"
A homemaker and resident and native of Donaldsonville, she died at 9:36 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, in Baton Rouge. She was 81, born Nov. 19, 1920. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 8 a.m. Tuesday until religious services in the chapel at 11 a.m. interment in Ascension Cemetery. Survived by a sister, Rita Legendre Pizzolato, Donaldsonville; a sister-in-law, Josephine Pizzolato Legendre, Donaldsonville; five nephews, Frank Jr. and Jimmie Pizzolato and Claude and Clark Legendre, all of Donaldsonville, and godchild Kenneth Pizzolato, Baton Rouge; two nieces, Kathleen L. Scioneaux and Elaine L. Landry, both of Donaldsonville; a godchild, Marie Bonadona Rushing; a long time companion, Harry J. Morris, Donaldsonville; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Edwin J. Rodrigue; parents, Claude and Elaine Rodrigue Legendre; a brother, Wilfred P. Legendre; and a great-nephew, Frank Pizzolato III.

RODRIGUEZ, MARIE HALL
She died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at home with her family. She was born to James and Bea Hall 73 years ago on Nov. 28, 1928. She was part of the last graduating class from Ethel High School. She graduated from Baton Rouge General Nursing School on Jan. 13, 1949, and married Earl Rodriguez the next day. She began her nursing career at East Louisiana State Hospital, and six years later became the head nurse at the East Feliciana Health Unit and remained there for the following 28 years. In 1980 she was named by President Ronald Reagan to the Infant Advisory Board. After retiring from the Health Unit, she went back to work part-time at East Louisiana State Hospital until she retired in March of this year. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Zachary, and was co-founder and co-owner of radio station WFEX 92.7 in Clinton from 1978 to 1986. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randall E. and Rita Rodriguez of Lafayette; a daughter, Donna Rodriguez of Baton Rouge; and four grandchildren, Jonathan and Christy Rodriguez of Baton Rouge and Caleb and Jocelyn Rodriguez Rogers of Lafayette. Her joys in life include her four great-grandchildren, Taylor Rodriguez, Aaron Rogers, Caylin Rogers and Braedon Rodriguez; her four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Loretta and Jack Winn of Friendswood, Texas , Kaleta and Bob Hudson of Canton, Texas , Jimmie and Luke Darbonne of Clinton and Edna Browning of Zachary. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bea Hall; her husband, Earl E. Rodriguez; and special brother-in-law, Don Browning. Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Visitation at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Alvin Hall, with music by Corky Hall. Graveside services in Redwood Cemetery, Slaughter. Pallbearers will be Marty Massey, Matt Browning, Roger Massey, Caleb Rogers, Jeff Peairs and Joe Fonte. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Louisiana or Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.

STEWART, SR. EDWARD
A resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 7:08 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, New Orleans. He was 71 and a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Demby & Son Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 9 a.m. Tuesday until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. John Batiste. interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

TULLIER, NOLA ELAINE
A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Addis, she died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at age 43 at her mother's home in the presence of her family at 4:50 p.m., after a lengthy illness. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Brusly, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, celebrated by the Rev. Eric Gyan. Entombment in church mausoleum. She held a master's degree in counseling from Louisiana Tech University, where she graduated with cum laude honors. She worked as a marketing representative for the State Employees Group Benefits Program in Baton Rouge. She is survived by Michael Smith of Baton Rouge; parents, Leonard and Lola Tullier of Addis; three sisters, Sheri Legendre of Plaquemine, Rhonda Guillory and husband Buddy of Birmingham, Ala., and Paula Ryan of Addis; two brothers, Leonard Tullier Jr. of Addis and Keith Tullier and wife Erin of Pride; three nieces and eight nephews.

WRIGHT, JEAN BROWN
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at the age of 76, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St.

WYBLE, MYRTLE WILSON KNAPP
A retired bus driver with the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board, she died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 73 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at St. Isidore Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Fred Youngs. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by her husband, Bill E. Wyble; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia K. and Byron Evans and Pamela K. and Joe Arceneaux; a sister, Lillie Ingles; three brothers, Earl, Richard and Roy Wilson; five grandchildren, Kristi E. Williams, Todd and Derek Evans, Jason Broussard and Kimberly Ruckman; and six great-grandchildren, Michael and Morgan Williams, Tori and Luke Evans, Brailin Broussard and Jacob Ruckman. Preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Sarah Freeman Wilson; a granddaughter, Kelli D'Shea Broussard; first husband, Henry Knapp; and a sister, Thelma Daquanno. Pallbearers will be Todd Evans, Derek Evans, Jason Broussard, Mike Williams, Carol Daquanno and Brian Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Aubrey Lowery, David Wilson, Chris Ruckman, Scott Wilson and Randy Daquanno.

ADAMS, DR. SAM
Died at the age of 85 on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. A native of Webster County, Miss., he was born March 14, 1916, the son of Sam F. Adams and Addie Eidson Adams. Preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dr. Grace Boudreaux Adams; two brothers, Josh Adams and W.J. Adams; and two sisters, Ruth Wilson and Elia Stallings. He leaves his wife, Guillot Adams of Baton Rouge; and a daughter, Carolyn Adams of Newport News, Va. He was a veteran of World War II. He graduated from Delta State University in 1936 and received a master’s degree in 1940, and a Ph.D. in education in 1951 from LSU. For three years, he was a research physicist at the federal laboratories in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He was a professor in the education department at LSU for 31 years from 1954 to 1985, when he retired as an alumni professor of education. He wrote many educational textbooks and articles for professional journals. His latest book, "People, Places, and Things," is a collection of short articles depicting the lives of ordinary people. Many of the stories are taken from his youth in rural Mississippi. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until memorial services at 10 a.m. Monday.

BUTLER, DOROTHY YATES "MRS. SWEET"
A child-care provider and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Earl K. Long Medical Center. She was 62 and a native of Jackson , Miss. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Eddie Sulcer Jr. interment in Winnfield Memorial Park. Survived by six daughters, Junice, Sherry, Melissa and Michelle Yates, Kathy LeDuff and Annette Crockett; a son, Clifford Robins; and four sisters, Ernestine Brown, Pearl Higgins, Beverly Paul and Eddie M. Richard. Preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Butler; mother, father, a son, two brothers, a granddaughter and a stepdaughter.

CARLISLE, DOROTHY BABIN
A cosmetologist and a resident of Gonzales, she died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at her residence. She was 77 and a native of Cornerview. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Religious services at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Vicente Tanaligan. interment in Prairieville Cemetery. Survived by a son, Bobby Gene Carlisle, Houston; and two grandchildren, Tammy Martin, Magnolia, Ark., and Amy Carlisle, Houston. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Carlisle; parents, Adler and Edna Cling Babin; three brothers and two sisters.

CARRAWAY, MARY IRENE DILLON
A homemaker and resident of Meadville, Miss., she died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at her residence. She was 85, born Oct. 25, 1916, and a native of Franklin County, Miss. Visiting was at Franklin Funeral Home, 901 Main St., Meadville, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Religious services at Siloam Baptist Church, Meadville, at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. David Crowe. interment in church cemetery. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clinton E. and Nancy Carraway, Baton Rouge, and James L. and Betty Joe Carraway, Meadville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elrea and James Hux, Bogue Chitto, Miss, Annell and William G. Peek, Baton Rouge, and Brenda Carraway, Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Victor and Margaret Pine Dillon; husband, H.E. Carraway; five brothers and a grandson. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.

Former owner of a chain of theaters and owner of City Drug Store in Woodville, Miss., she died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Field Memorial Community Hospital, Centreville, Miss. She was 85, born Nov. 11, 1916, in New Roads, and a resident of Woodville. Visitation at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Woodville, from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Walt Brown. interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Survived by four sons, Albin M. Randall Jr., James L. Randall, Rory P. Randall and Charles E. Randall, all of Woodville; a stepson, William Henry Catchings Jr., St. Francisville; a sister, Gwen Robillard, New Roads; a brother, J.C. Langlois, New Roads; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father and mother, Lionel Joseph Langlois and Annie Savignol; husbands, Albin Major Randall and William Henry Catchings; and two brothers, L.J. Langlois Jr. and Vernon Langlois. Pallbearers will be James Randall Jr., Paul Randall, Al Randall, Nick Randall, Jordan Smith, Cody Smith, Charles Canova Jr. and Travis Sharp. CHARLEVILLE, SR. RICHARD BARRY "DICKIE"
A retired employee with Exxon Co. USA and a resident of Belle River, he died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 59 and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, celebrated by the Rev. Tom Duhe. interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Janice Ann Becnel Charleville; a daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Ronnie Frioux; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard "Barry" Jr. and Leslie Charleville and Steven and Rhonda Charleville; six grandchildren, Chandler and Joseph Charleville, Reagan and Ryan Frioux and Grace and Julia Charleville; a brother, Fred S.
