Died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Harig House Assisted Living Center, Baton Rouge. She was 89 and a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was the beloved wife of the late Marion Henry Deancausse; mother of Lynn Deancausse Knight, Baton Rouge, and Noel H. Deancausse, Diamondhead, Miss.; grandmother of Dean John Ducoing, Cherie Deancausse McQuady, Christy Deancausse Garcia and the late Keith Noel Deancausse; great-grandmother of Candice, Erica and Blake Ducoing and Amanda McQuady; and daughter of the late Mary Jane McGilly Duzac and John O. Duzac. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at Lamana Panno Fallo Funeral Home, 1717 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, at 11:30 a.m. Friday. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 448 Metairie Road, at noon Friday. interment in St. Patrick No. 1 Cemetery, New Orleans. Visitation at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions preferred to the National Diabetes Foundation.

DELORETTE, OSCAR J.
Co-owner of D&H Ice Cream, "The Popsicle Man," and a resident of Napoleonville, he died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001. He was 92, born Aug. 20, 1909, in New Orleans. Visitation at St. Anne Catholic Church, Napoleonville, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday. interment in St. Anne Cemetery. Survived by three nieces, Bonnie Ripoll Falgoust of Chalmette, and Bonnie Nolan and Teresa Dias, both of Napoleonville; and a nephew, Lawrence J. Hebert II of Napoleonville. Preceded in death by his wife, Camille Hebert Delorette; parents, Wallace and Zulma Savoie Delorette; two brothers, Leon and Andrew Delorette; and two sisters, Lou Mercer and Lelia Delorette. He was president of the Napoleonville Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. Landry's Funeral Home, Napoleonville, in charge of arrangements.

DUFRENE, WILLIE JAMES "COON"
A resident of Independence, he died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at his home. He was 56. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Carter Dufrene; a daughter, Charmain Mulkey; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Jerry V. Smith; five grandchildren, Katelyn, Jonathon and Hannah Smith, and Mariah and Taylor Mulkey, all of Independence; four sisters, Dorothy Rogers, Marrero, Evelyn Lee and Enola Dufrene, both of Westwego, and Bert Stroger, Franklinton; four brothers, Manuel Dufrene, Independence, Earl Dufrene, Marrero, J.D. Dufrene, Dexter, Miss., and Riley Dufrene, Campti. Preceded in death by his parents, Edith T. and Sylvester Dufrene; two brothers, Silas and Joseph Dufrene; and two sisters, Wilma Plaisance and Ruby Matherne. Visiting at Geisler Funeral Home, Albany, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial in Colonial Cemetery, Independence.

ELLIOTT, JR. EARL DAMON
A resident of Houston since 1956, he Passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. Earl was 73, born in Dallas to Martha Mae and Earl D. Elliot Sr. He moved to Baton Rouge with his family in 1942, graduated from University High School in 1946 and LSU in 1950, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He spent one year in LSU Law School and two years in the U.S. Air Force, then completed his law degree at the University of Texas , Austin, in 1956. His diverse professional career ranged from attorney and commercial real estate developer to oil and gas entrepreneur and co-producer of the classic cult film "Billy Jack." Perhaps he was most revered for his tireless volunteer work for the Houston Golf Association, USGA and PGA. Earl was only the third person to be named the Professional Golf Association Volunteer of the Year, awarded in 2001. He served as president of the Houston Golf Association and served on its board for more than 30 years. Earl was general chairman of the 1969 U.S. Open, the 1993 U.S. Amateur, and the three season-ending PGA Tour Championships held in Houston during the 1990s. His illness forced him to resign the general chairmanship of Champions Golf Club's fourth PGA Tour Championship scheduled for Oct. 29 through Nov. 4, 2001. Earl is survived by his wife, Merilyn Lindsay Elliott, a Baton Rouge native. They would have been married 50 years on Nov. 5, 2001. He is also survived by son, Brett Elliott; daughter, Lisa Elliott; grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Wheeler; sister, Carolyn Watts and her husband, Bill Watts; and niece, Robin Palmer, all of Houston. Pallbearers will be Reagan Burch, Ralph Carrigan, Wally Gladney, Terry Russ, Ben Schleider, Paul Wahlberg and Walt Waldrop. Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Burke Jr. and members of the Houston Golf Association. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston. Following will be a Memorial Service at Grace Presbyterian Church, 10221 Ella Lee, near Westheimer and Sam Houston Tollway, at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. David McKechnie will officiate. For those desiring, contributions may be made to HGA Junior Golf Program, c/o of the Houston Golf Association, 1830 S. Millben, The Woodlands, Texas 77380.

FRANKLIN, MACK ARTHUR
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001. Visiting at Little Rock Baptist Church from 9 a.m. Friday until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Harry Haynes. interment in Little Rock Cemetery. Survived by his loving mother, Beatrice Coates; fiancee, Alice Black; a son, Desmond Black; four brothers, Arthur Ray Jarrell, Leon Franklin Sr., Eugene Franklin and Henry Franklin; five sisters, Dorothy D. Hargrove, Eller Mae Obioha, Essie Mae Septs, Doretha Butler and Willie Mae Franklin; three brothers-in-law, John L. Hargrove, Lionel Septs and Larry Butler; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Jarrell and Brenda Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Zachary, in charge of arrangements.

HARRIS, STELLA M. "TEE"
A resident and native of Baton Rouge, she died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Earl K. Long Medical Center. She was 74. Visiting at Desselle Funeral Home, 263 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive, from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday. Visiting at The First Little Rock Baptist Church, 312 S. 17th St., from 7 p.m. until religious services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Paul Pleasant. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Friday. interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by two sons, Ike Washington and Michael Posey, both of Baton Rouge; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Washington and Debra Posey, both of Baton Rouge; a brother, the Rev. Ernest Posey, Richmond, Calif.; a loving niece, Delena Stewart of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her devoted husband, Willie Harris.

HARVELL, WILSON
A retired plant mechanic and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001. He was 86. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home chapel from 11 a.m. Thursday until religious services at 1 p.m. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a son, Michael Harvell, Baton Rouge; a sister, Winnie Richardson, Baton Rouge; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Lou Marie Cashio-Harvell; a daughter, Marie Elaine Harvell; a sister, Fanny Harvell-Martin; and a brother, Lake Harvell. He was an active member of the VFW.

LAMB, ROYAL E. "BUSTER"
A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 82 and a native of Michigan. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Wednesday. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Hattie K. Lamb; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra W. and Glen Carroll and Deborah L. and Bizhan Alizadeh; and five grandchildren, Pfc. Jeremy L. Harrell, Jackie L. Webb, Brandon J. Tubb, Christine L. Harrell and Rachael I. Alizadeh. He was a member of Istrouma Masonic Lodge 414, F&AM, and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite member of Baton Rouge Consistory.

LANDRY, LOUISE DELAUNE
A loving mother and grandmother and a retired salesperson with B. Lemann and Brothers ladies department, she died at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, in Donaldsonville. She was 84, a resident of Donaldsonville and a native of Little Texas in Assumption Parish. Visiting was at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Catholic Church, Donaldsonville, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Randy Cuevas. Entombment in church mausoleum. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Jim Landry, Belle Rose, and Julie and Jimmy "Chilly" Russo, Donaldsonville; five sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Jr. and Gwen Landry, Kenneth and Kathleen Landry, Gilbert and Barbara Landry and Lester and Kathleen Landry, all of Donaldsonville, and Edward "Mouse" and Donna Landry, Baker; three sisters, Alma Costanza, Napoleonville, Mary Ann Graugnard, New Orleans, and Agnes Landry, Donaldsonville; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. LEA, RALPH
A retired captain with the Department of Public Safety and Corrections as a correctional officer at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola and owner/manager of Lea Sawmill, he died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, Oct 29, 2001, at his residence in Amite. He was 85 and a native of Frost. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious services at noon Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Mitchell. interment in Hyde Cemetery, Chesbrough. Survived by his wife, Evelyn Stokes Lea, Amite; four sons, Ralph Joseph Lea, DeRidder, Michael G. Lea, Baton Rouge, Jimmy Lea, Amite, and David Lea, Jackson , Miss.; 10 grandchildren, Kelly, Wendy, JoAnn, Nicole, Amy, Michael II, Christopher, Joshua, Benjamin and Quentin Lea; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie Lea; three brothers and four sisters. He was a member of Chesbrough Baptist Church.

LEBLANC, SR. FELIX G.
Retired from Smithfield Plantation in Chamberlin and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 87. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, celebrated by the Rev. Anthony J. Russo. interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Angela Adeline Vince LeBlanc ; a daughter, Linda L. Favaro; a son, F.G. LeBlanc Jr.; grandchildren, A. Michael and Dana Favaro, Keith and Cherie Favaro, and Laci Grace and Lyndi Gayle LeBlanc ; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Kaci Favaro; and two sisters, Irene Breaux and Sybil Hotard. MCLEAN, NETTIE P.

Survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles W. "Mac" McLean, Zachary; a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Hollis Raborn, Greensburg; a daughter-in-law, Shirley H. Pilgreen, Baker; a son and daughter-in-law, James Robert and Evelyn Pilgreen, Lake Charles; four sisters, Dorothy Chandler, Choudrant, Mattie Bell Mahas, Monroe, Marguerite Bransetter, Phoenix, and Merry Dean Woodward, Arcadia; a brother, James K. Patterson, Santa Fe, Texas ; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sons, Travis Albert Pilgreen and John Thomas Pilgreen; a sister, Beulah Guthrie; and two brothers, Robert L. and Thomas A. "Pete" Patterson. MIZELL, DAVE
A resident of Elizabeth City, N.C., he died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Albemarle Hospital. He was 64, born in Bogalusa, son of the late Willie Mizell and Lela Voth Mizell Babin; and was the husband of Jacquelyne Roberta Small Mizell of the residence. He was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church and a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Mizell of Elizabeth City, and Lorraine Rachelle Reichart of Owensboro, N.Y.; a sister, Nelda Stanley of Murchison, Texas ; two brothers, Dewey Mizell of Zachary and Billy Wayne Mizell of Mississippi; and four grandchildren, Megan Marie Mizell, Emily Michelle Reichart, Rudy Alan Locklear and Michael John Reichart. A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Crisp officiating. The family will be at the residence. The family requests memorial donations be made to Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, 700 N. Road St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Funeral arrangements made by Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City.

A native of Lutcher and a resident of New Orleans, she died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center, New Orleans. She was 86. Visiting at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, celebrated by the Rev. Frank Uter. Burial in church cemetery. Survived by two sons, Joseph Morgan Jr. and Frank A. Pitts and Delnise D. Pitts; and a brother, Eugene Pitts III.
