Dismissal at 10 a.m. Thursday. interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Davis; mother, Maudra E. Davis; father, George Fitzgerald Sr., Baton Rouge; a daughter, LaShonja Davis; five sons, Christopher Ray Davis, Jason Robert Davis, Sean Edward Davis, George R. Davis and Brian Davis; two brothers, Gathel Davis and Clifford Davis; nine grandchildren, three godsisters and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by stepfather, Ellis E. Davis; grandmothers, Annie Davis and Hattie Fitzgerald; three aunts, Irene and Bessie Fitzgerald and Hattie Spears; and two cousins, Melvin and Darrel Spears.

JONES, SR. RODERIC ANTHONY "BEEDY"
A warehouse supervisor with Southern Fasteners and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 10 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, at LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center. He was 34 and a native of Baker. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received an honorable discharge. Visiting at Scott’s Bluff Morticians, 8546 Scenic Highway, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. Religious services at Little Star Freewill Baptist Church, Zachary, at 8 p.m. Thursday, conducted by Bishop Claude White , pastor. Dismissal at 10 a.m. Friday. interment in Public Cemetery, Zachary. Survived by his wife, Tammie Allen Jones; parents, Louis W. Jones Sr. and Rosella Jones; three sons, Roderic A. Jones Jr., Thomas J. Allen and Ranier D. Jones; three sisters, Tamara Underwood and Cheryl Jones, both of Baton Rouge, and Sandy J. Allen, Baytown, Texas ; and a brother, Louis W. Jones Jr., Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his grandparents. He was a 1984 graduate of Baker High School, a 32nd degree member of a Masonic Lodge and a member of Elks, Royal Arch, Spinks and Hiram Consistory No. 26.

MAYES, JAMES R.
A resident of Baton Rouge, he died Monday evening, June 19, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 63 and a native of Savannah, Ga. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Survived by his wife, Yvonne N. Mayes, Baton Rouge; and two sons, Christian Anderson, Atlanta, and John R. Anderson, East Liverpool, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rosemary Mayes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-9966. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., in charge of arrangements.

MELTON, MARY ANN
A resident of Harvest Manor Nursing Home, Denham Springs, she died Monday, June 19, 2000, at the nursing home. She was 63 and a native of Coffeeville, Miss. Visiting was at Garner-Harper Funeral Home, Granada, Miss., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Brother Dennis Kizzare. interment in Elom Baptist Church Cemetery, Coffeeville. Survived by two brothers, Jake Whitman of Enid, Okla., and Bob Whitman of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Rose Carpenter of Vicksburg, Miss., and Edwina Jaco of Batesville, Miss.; two daughters-and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Albert Nugent of Demopolis, Ala., and Shirley and Richard Alred of Smithville, Miss.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Susan Pugh, Clinton, Miss., and Kevin and Juaquine Pugh of Walker; seven grandsons, Dereck, Mitchell and Matthew Alred, Brett and Heath Pugh, Corey Anderson and Ryan Pugh.

RECTOR, LESTER ELMO
A retired homebuilder and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, June 20, 2000. He was 80 and a native of Nacogdoches, Texas . He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home from noon until religious services at 1 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. James Boatman of Kilgore, Texas . interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Sadie Smith Rector; two daughters, Melanie R. Hanley of Baton Rouge and Manda R. Bennett of Prairieville; two sons, Mark M. Rector of Nashville, Tenn., and Monte D. Rector of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including Jean Boatman and Judy Ann Christian, both of Texas . Preceded in death by a son, Matthew E. Rector; and an infant son. Pallbearers will be Mark Rector, Monte Rector, Joshua Rector, Will Hanley, Laris Bennett and Bobby Ezell. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews, Malcolm Rector, Gil Rector and Joe Biggerstaff, all of Texas . He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Nederland, Texas .

ROTOLO, MAGGIE RUMFOLA
Died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was a native of St. James Parish and a resident of Baton Rouge. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Mercy parish. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, 6700 Florida Blvd., from noon to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary service at 12:30 p.m. Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. John Pappu. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by two daughters, a son, a brother, four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincenzo "Charlie" Rotolo.

SIMS, ARTHUR V.
An employee of Rhodia Inc. and a resident of Baker, he died Friday, June 16, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident in West Baton Rouge Parish. Religious services at St. John Baptist Church, New Rafe Mayer Road, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. M.L. Carter. Dismissal from Mount Zion Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Friday. interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by his wife, Danice T. Sims, Baker; two daughters, Latashe L. and Candra Sims, both of Baker; a son, Damon T. Sims, Baker; father, Alvin Sims Sr., Baton Rouge; two grandsons, Kornell D. and Jávon K. Sims, both of Baker; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Lawrence Ovete, Plaquemine; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Curtis Sr. and Peggy Warren and Alvin Sims Jr., all of Baton Rouge; a goddaughter, Courtney J. Taylor , Zachary; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Ivy and Virginia Taylor , Ricky Taylor and William Butler Jr., all of Zachary; two sisters-in-law, Roslyn Hayes and Laura Butler, both of Zachary; mother-in-law, Ellen Butler, Zachary; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Rhodia Inc. employees and staff. Miller & Daughter Mortuary, Zachary, in charge of arrangements.

WHITMAN, JR. GEORGE J.
A resident of Thibodaux, he died at 12:15 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2000. He was 82, born May 24, 1918, in New Orleans. Visiting was at Landry’s Funeral Home, Thibodaux, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, on the Nicholls State University campus, at 10 a.m. Wednesday. interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Survived by three sons, Dr. John, Joseph and Philip Whitman; five daughters, Susan Talbot, Linda Oubre, Anne Naquin, Carmel Drago and Catherine "Cathy" Bunfill; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Rehage Whitman; parents, George J. Sr. and Annie Rice Whitman; and a sister, Nell Maness.

AVERITT, SHIRLEY LOUISE WILLIAMS
A faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother, she died Friday, June 16, 2000, in Gainesville, Ga. She loved the Lord and as a pastor's wife served Him beside her husband, the Rev. Shepard S. Averitt III, for more than 40 years. Having a special heart for missions, she was active in Woman's Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention and held many leadership roles in Girls in Action. She is survived by a sister, Joyce Almasi of Brunswick, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Adrienne A. Raborn and Dr. Charles P. Raborn of Baton Rouge, and Athalia Anderson and Early "Hoover" Anderson of Hayesville, N.C.; and a son and daughter-in-law, Shepard S. IV and Summer Averitt of Gainesville. She had 10 grandchildren, including Karen Raborn Rogers of Shelby, N.C., Susan Raborn of Baton Rouge and Betsy Raborn Muller of Mandeville; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Lakewood Baptist Church, Gainesville, at 3 p.m. Monday. Pastor Tommy French will conduct graveside services at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge, at 10 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fulfilling the Vision Fund, Lakewood Baptist Church, 2235 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30501.

BROWN, JEFFERY N. "JEFF"
An employee of Entergy Corp. for more than 20 years and a resident of St. Francisville, he died about 3:35 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 43 and a native of Natchez, Miss. Visiting was at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Jesse Means. Burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery, St. Francisville. Survived by two daughters, Lauren A. Brown, Central, and Darby S. Noland, Centreville, Miss.; three sisters, Brenda Brown, Barbara B. Bonaventure and Sandra C. Overholt, all of St. Francisville; and a brother, Jimmy Card, St. Francisville. Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jewel and Opal Ellis Brown. Pallbearers will be Bill Bennett, Lane Blue, O.C. Britt, Chris Card, John-ny Maxwell and Bryan Thomas. He was an avid supporter of LSU and its athletic programs.

DEJEAN, GERALD
A resident of Bayou Sorrel, he died Friday, June 16, 2000, at River West Medical Center, Plaquemine. He was 52 and a na-tive of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at the fu-neral home from 11:30 a.m. until religious services at 3 p.m. Mon-day, conducted by the Rev. Bill Blanchard and the Rev. Tom Cook. interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Nettie R. DeJean, Bayou Sorrel; mother, Doris DeJean Griffin, Grand River; a daughter, Kelly Daigle, Gonzales; three sons, Travus Cook, Troy Cook and Albert H. DeJean, all of Bayou Sorrel; a brother and sister-in-law, Sanford and Eliza-beth DeJean, Denham Springs; a niece, Jeanne Deshotels, Denham Springs, a nephew, Mike DeJean, Denver; and two great-nieces. Preceded in death by his father, Albert DeJean.

FOUGHT, ORLAND OLIVER
A native of Bellevue, Ohio, and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, June 18, 2000. He was 88 and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Campaign with the Sixth Infantry Division. He was retired from Exxon Co. USA and a retired member of the American Federation of Musicians. He was a 1936 graduate of LSU, where he was a member of the LSU Tiger Marching Band and Delta Sigma Pi. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Glenna Fought of Richmond, Texas ; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Gary McKenzie of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Leigh and Keith Fought, both of Houston, and Karl Fought of Dallas; and a dear friend, Fay Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Loupe Fought; a son, Tho-mas Carl Fought; and his parents, Oliver and Elizabeth Petit Fought. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home chapel, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 11 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Smith. En-tombment in Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum.

GUILLORY, WILLARD "PAUL"
Retired from East Louisiana State Hospital with more than 30 years of service, he died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Avoyelles Parish Hospital, Marksville. He was 62, a resident of Zachary and a native of Grand Prairie. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. David Cutrer. Survived by his wife, Thelma Lindsey Guillory, Zachary; mother, Gracie Kimball Guillory, Ville Platte; three daugh-ters and a son-in-law, Lori Guil-lory, Ward, Ark., Shana Bennett, Zachary, and Lisa and Jay Michael McGregor, Kentwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Darren Paul and Angel Jackson Guillory, Cabot, Ark.; a brother, Joseph Davis Guil-lory, Ville Platte; and five grandchildren, Alyssa Guillory and Ashley Guillory, both of Cabot, and Charlsa, Logan and Hunter McGregor, all of Kentwood. Preceded in death by his father, Allen Guillory.

GUTTNER, LUCIE GREAUD
A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Heritage House, Baton Rouge. She was born April 6, 1910, in Garyville. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Vivian Guttner; a daughter and son-in-law, Gary and Grace Anderson; five grandchildren, Bowman, Candace and Emilie Guttner and Rebecca and Meredith Anderson; and three sisters, Sister Agnes Virginia Greaud, C.S.J., Dorothy Greaud Ourso and Lillie B. Slade. Preceded in death by her husband, George Guttner; parents, W.B. and Virginia Becnel Greaud; a sister, Martha Greaud Lockwood; and two brothers, Bowman Greaud and Cletus Greaud. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Bowman Guttner, and nephews Cletus Greaud, James Lockwood, Bobbie Moreau, Nicholas Ourso and Michael Ourso. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish. She was a 1928 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy.
