Survived by his wife, Avian Harding, Erwinville; mother and stepfather, Patsy Williams Mahan and James Mahan, Port Hudson; grandmother, Fannie S. Williams, Zachary; a daughter, Heather Kay O'Neal, Glenpool, Okla.; a stepson, Cizar Allan Weatherford, Baton Rouge; a sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Mark Moses, Brusly; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Larry and Kathy Harding, Livingston, Ronnie and Toni Harding and Jonathan Wayne Harding and fiancée Anna Sonnier, all of Erwinville; a grandchild, Alex Maddox; three stepgrandchildren, Trevor Allan, Mariah Sage and Brooklyn Pilar Weatherford; and a niece, Kayci Jo. Preceded in death by his father, David F. Harding; grandfather, R.O. "Shorty" Williams; and two nephews, James Herbert Hoffman Jr. and Corey Alan Harding. He was a member of the Ruttin' Buck Hunting Club in Bayou Sorrel.

HOLMES, BARBARA BENEVIDES
On Friday, June 2, 2000, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary, "Jesus came and stopped by your bed, He took your hand and softly said, 'You have suffered more than you can stand, come with me to a better land.'" Author un-known. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Erik Holmes of Zachary and Kingston, Mass., and Derek and Lisa Holmes of Carver, Mass; a grandson, Jacob B. Holmes, Carver; a sister, Sonja Benevides Pinto and her children, Jason Pinto, Meghan Pinto and Christopher Pinto, all of Kingston; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Nadine Benevides and their son, Sammy Joe Benevides, all of Gloucester, N.C.; her mother, Mary Benevides, Baton Rouge; two aunts and an uncle, Anne Flavell and Era and James Flavell, all of Baton Rouge; and Uncle Leland and Aunt Bea of Friendship, Maine. Preceded in death by her loving dad, Joseph Benevides Sr.; and her beloved niece, Heather Benevides, who died March 20, 1999. Memorial services at Foster Road Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Huey Moak. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

JOHNSON JR., HARRY W.
A carpenter and member of Local 1077, he Passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in Baton Rouge. He was 43 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. He served in the U.S. Army. Visiting at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3912 Gus Young Ave., from 9 a.m. until recitation of the rosary at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Guidry. interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived his father, Harry W. Johnson Sr.; a daughter, Erica R. Johnson ; three sons, Harry Johnson III, Ricky O. Johnson Sr. and Eric Johnson ; two sisters, Diane Johnson Thomas and Patricia Johnson Whitner; and four grandchildren, Verdell A. Ferchaud Jr., Joshua J. Brooks Jr., Erick J. Brooks and Ricky O. Johnson Jr. Survivors reside in Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his mother, Albertha Lathers Johnson ; two brothers, Larry and Donald Ray Johnson ; paternal grandparents, Anna Craig Johnson and Henry Handley; and maternal grandparents, Julia Tate Lathers and Henry Lathers. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He grew up in the church and served as an altar boy. Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., in charge of arrangements.

JONES, BESSIE KENNARD HILL
A school teacher in Livingston Parish during the 1920s and 1930s and a resident of Denham Springs, she died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Southern Pines Retirement Center, Walker. She was 90 and a native of Watson. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Mark Crosby. interment in Live Oak United Methodist Church Cemetery, Watson. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Natalie Hill and Donald R. Hood, Denham Springs, and Marlene Hill and George Milton, Walker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lancy E. Jr. and Greta S. Hill, Baton Rouge, and Bobby G. and Barbara W. Hill, Denham Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Earl Hammack, Denham Springs; nine grandchildren, Ladonne Hood, Lance Hill III, Kym Sibley, Mike Hood, Kathryn Blackwell, Susan Gelé, Bill Milton, Laura Perrilloux and Leslie Broemmelsiek; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her first husband, Lancy E. Hill Sr.; second husband, Lee Jones; parents, Alanson G. and Susie Moore Kennard; a grand-daughter, Lisa Hill; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nell and Glenn Davis and Winnie Beatrice Ken-nard; two brothers, Oscar George and Otto William Kennard; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Kennard Webb. Pallbearers will be Lance Hill, Mike Hood, Bill Milton, Mike Sibley, Chad Blackwell and John Broemmelsiek. She was a member of Live Oak United Methodist Church, Watson. LAVIGNE JR., EMILE J.
A retired electrician with Local 995, Baton Rouge, and a native and resident of Lake, he died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, at his home. He was 71. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and Ronnie Hughes, Gonzales, and Annette and Leon Murphy, French Settlement; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Lavigne and Ken and Carol Lavigne, all of Lake; six sisters, Clara Buratt, Virginia Meche, Joyce Andrews, Leontine Weaver, Lois Avara and Hilda Wieshar; four brothers, Joseph Lavigne, F.G. "Preacher" Lavigne, Lawrence Lavigne and John Lavigne; five grandchildren and spouses, Bret and Stacey Hughes, Brad and Andrea Hughes, Tiffany Murphy, Brittany and Jamie Voisin and Levi Lavigne; two great-grandchildren, Bryn and Cameron Hughes; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Adrian Voisin. Preceded in death by his parents, Emile J. Sr. and Gertrude Pearson Lavigne; wife, Gennieve Andrews Lavigne; a brother, Perry Lavigne; and a sister, Gloria Templet. He was a member of First Apostolic Light-house, Gonzales.

NORMAN, ELISE HYAMS
A resident of New Orleans for more than 80 years, she died at her home Thursday evening, June 15, 2000. She was 92. Visiting at Trinity Episcopal Church board room, 1329 Jackson Ave., New Or-leans, from noon until religious services in the chapel at 1 p.m. Monday. interment in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Preceded in death by her parents, Edith Slaughter Hyams and Joseph White Hyams; and her husband, Alexander Wilson Norman. Pallbearers will be Sidney R. Bowden Jr., Michael Charbonnet, A. Kirk Gasperecz, Timothy J. Trapolin, E. Benton Vickery III and William A. Vickery. She served as executive sec-retary to the dean of Tulane Law School from 1937 to 1967, serving under deans Paul W. Brosman, Roy Forrester and Cecil Morgan. She was an honorary life member of the Orleans Club and Le Petit Salon. PARRO, ADOLPH E.
A retired television technician and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died Saturday, June 17, 2000. He was 89 and a native of Baldwin. Visiting was at Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home, 1553 Wooddale Blvd., from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Religious services at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Dorris Parro; two sons and daughters-in-law, A.J. and Judy Parro and David and Debbie Parro; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. PATTERSON, PINKIE "MA MA DEET"
A resident of Walker, she departed this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 70. Survived by her husband, Frank Patterson; five daughters, Virginia Patterson, Vera Morris, Linda K. Burton, Johnnie Mae Hulbert and Ruby Jean Jackson ; three sons, Floyd Patterson, Bobby Lionel Patterson and Timothy Frank Patterson; a brother, Curtis T. Felder; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by three sons, Albert Lee, Jackie and James Patterson.

PRICE, THELMA RAY
A resident of Baton Rouge, she went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 17, 2000. She was a native of Folsom. Survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria P. and Lucious Yaun, Janet P. and Chuck Taylor and June P. and Darryl Andrews; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray W. "Buddy" Jr. and Susan K. Price; 11 grand-children, Darryl, Jeffery and Curtis Yaun, Jeanine Zachariah, Kevin, Darrin and Jason Taylor , Kara and Darryl Andrews and Jennifer and Jay Price; and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Price; two brothers, William D. Ray Jr. and Ernest A. Ray; a granddaughter, Kim M. Yaun; and two grandsons, Charles D. Taylor and Michael Andrews. Pallbearers will be grandsons. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

SANDERS, DAVID RUSSELL
Retired with honors from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years and the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years, he died at 4:11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 69 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. During his military career he was awarded the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Religious services at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Cleo Milano. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Yasu S. Sanders; two daughters, Mary Sanders McKey and Rosie Suprun; a son, John A. Sanders; a son-in-law, Todd Suprun; two sisters, Ola S. Trim and Daisy Sheridan; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred M. and Beatrice Sanders; a daughter-in-law, Maria Dinino Sanders; and five grandchildren, Melissa, Haley and David McKey and Kenny and Michael Sistrunk. Preceded in death by his father, Lehon Sanders; mother, Mary Duck; a son, David L. Sanders; and three sisters, Veda Bernard, Jeanette Hardin and Thelma Jones. Pallbearers will be U.S. Air Force Color Guard. He was a 1948 graduate of Istrouma High School and a member of the National Guard. He loved his grandchildren and his interests included college football, music, playing his guitar and automobiles.

SIBLEY, ALLEN G.
Retired from L.M. Berry Co. and a native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 4 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2000, at his home. He was 81. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having served on several destroyer warships during combat and having achieved the rank of lieutenant commander. He was a crew member of the USS Flusser. Visiting at St. James Episcopal Church, 208 N. Fourth St., from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. George Kontos. interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Madelyn Bradford Sibley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and David Morgan, Baton Rouge, and Joan and Stephen Jannik, Houston; a son, Allen Sibley, Baton Rouge; two brothers, Willis P. Sibley, Hideaway Lake, Texas , and Don Sibley, Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, Joel Morgan, Allison Sibley, Marshall Morgan, Stephen Jannik and Ellen Jannik. Preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Catherine Sibley; parents, Allen A. and Elizabeth Cooke Sibley; and two brothers, T.A. and John Esten Sibley. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and Catholic High School Men's Club. A retired ironworker and a reserve deputy with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Department, he died at 6:16 a.m. Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Lakewood Quarters. He was 59 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
