Graveside services at Grand Prairie Cemetery, Grand Prairie. Survived by two daughters, Julie and Lynn of Newbury, England; four sisters, a brother, and six grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Willray and Rose Pitre Jones; and a brother, Joseph E. Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to help family with funeral cost.

NORWOOD, MARGARET JOHNSON
A retired employee of East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and a resident of Zachary, she died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 67 and a native of Roseland. Visiting at Mount Carmel Baptist Church from 9 a.m. Friday until religious services at 11:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Fred Jeff Smith. interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by her husband, Wilbert Norwood; four daughters, Loretta Deggins, Margie Reese and husband, Foster Reese III, Marsha Evans and husband Alexander, and Kathy Norwood; two sons, Donald R. and Ronald R. Norwood; three sisters, Geraldine Johnson Pidgeon, Lillie Mae Johnson Evans and Doretha Johnson ; a brother, Gordon R. Johnson ; and nine grandchildren. Preceded in death by her mother, Ada Harrison; father, Willie E. Johnson ; two brothers, Ernest and Edgar Johnson ; and a sister, Rebecca Shelton. She was a graduate of McKinley High School, a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and owner of Margaret’s Classic Catering. Scott’s Bluff Morticians in charge of arrangements.

A retired meter repairman for Baton Rouge Water Works with 29 years of service, he died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2000, at Sterling Place. He was 70 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greater Arlington Baptist Church, 5445 Nicholson Drive, from 9 a.m. Thursday until religious services at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Henry Lamb Jr. interment in Gilbert Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jenkins Pack, Baton Rouge; eight daughters and three sons-in-law, Willie Mae Pack, Lydia Pack Poullard and Terrel, Carol Pack Brown, Lorraine Pack Carney and Darryl, Joann Pack Quincy and Larry, Alsiha, Tyra A. and Heather Marie Pack, all of Baton Rouge; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wilfred Pack Jr. and Sue, Tacoma, Wash., James E. and Larry Pack, both of Baton Rouge; three stepsons and a stepdaughter-in-law, John Martin Jr. and Lawanda, Slickerville, N.J., Dewight and Harold Williams, both of Baton Rouge; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leona Brown and Emanuel, and Francis Pack, all of Baton Rouge, Thelma Howard and Felton, Portland, Ore., and Ella L. Jones, Baton Rouge; a brother, Lynell Pack, Los Angeles; a devoted friend, Ernest R. Jones; 37 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. PROCTOR, LILLIAN EVANS
Went to be with the Lord from Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center on Saturday, May 6, 2000, about 9:30 p.m. She was 86, a resident of Baton Rouge for more than 50 years and a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and after noon Friday. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Jan Holloway. interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by a sister, Lu Pattison, Santa Cruz, Calif.; a brother, Oliver N. Evans, Baton Rouge; two half-brothers, Harry Evans, St. Peters, Mo., and Thomas Evans, Jackson ville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry Swift Proctor. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Porcelain Art Guild, Tharseon Sunday school class and Tharsynai Circle.

ROME, PAUL ROBERT
An employee of Shell Oil Co. for 37 years and a resident of Evangeline of Ormond in Destrehan for 12 years, he died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2000. He was 88, a native of Donaldsonville and a former resident of Norco for 52 years. He was the beloved husband of the late Loretta Dugas Rome; father of Suzanne R. Laiche, Alice R. Miller, Eileen R. Faucheux, John P. Rome and Michael H. Rome; father-in-law of Leon Laiche, Henry Miller Jr., Pat Faucheux and Janie Cadow Rome; son of the late Leona Robert and Louis Joseph Rome Sr.; brother of Louis Jr., O’Neil and Donald Rome and Lillian R. Blanchard, and the late John Augustin "Gus," Lucie, Ike and C.D. Rome; and is survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Relatives, friends of the family, retirees and employees of Shell Oil Co. and employees of Evangeline of Ormond are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Mitchell; a brother, Benny "Buddy" Johnson ; four grandchildren, Troy D. Haynes and wife Barbara Jean, Maranell Y. Johnson , Kendra D. Benton and Dierdre Pogue; seven great-grandchildren, Corey and Konika Johnson , Trista Pogue and Micheal, Tynisah, Chrystal and Terrlyn Haynes; three godchildren, Handsome Robinson, Stella Spears and Carl Johnson ; and three devoted friends, Sarah Barryman, Eula Mae Hutter and Julia Mae Clark. A retired civil engineer for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and a resident of Jena, he died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at his home. He was 87. Acklen, Buchanan Dam, Texas ; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and a stepgreat-grandchild. He was of the Baptist faith.

Gene Erwin. interment in Salem Cemetery, Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Joseph Carroll Albritton; her father, Louis A. Erwin; mother, Hattie Dukes Erwin; brothers, Louis Erwin and Reuben Erwin; sisters, Gertrude Mote, Clara Slone, Myrtle Patterson and Lessie Bagley; daughter-in-law, Omalee Albritton; and granddaughter, Kindra Albritton Brooks. She is survived by a brother, Hollis Erwin, Kentwood; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Willis C. and Patty Albritton, Plaquemine, Donald R. and Flo Albritton, Sioux Falls, S.D., Louis W. and Amy Albritton, Livingston, and Regina Albritton, Arnold, Mo.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Daisy M. and Kelly Duffy, Livingston. She leaves 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She had numerous nieces and nephews.
