Henry Trosclair

Funeral services for Henry A. Trosclair, 86, of Sulphur will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. A rosary will be held Monday at 7 p.m.

Mr. Trosclair died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in a local hospital.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. He was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church of Sulphur.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Trosclair of Sulphur; two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Mabel) Richardson of Sulphur and Mrs. Albert (Dolores) Gary of Westlake; three brothers, Lawrence Trosclair of Sulphur, Eugene Trosclair of Beaumont,TX and Koy Trosclair of Sulphur; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Mathew Myers

Mathew M. (Mac) "Pops" Myers, 69, of Sulphur died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003 in his residence.

He was a native of Jennings and lived in Sulphur for over forty-five years. He retired from Ironworkers Local #678. Mr. Myers was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Clement Myers of Sulphur; three sons, Michael L. Myers of Melbourne, ARK, Randy K. Myers and Shane K. Myers both of Sulphur; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister Sadie Suydam of Lake Charles; two brothers, U.R. (Roy) Myers of Lake Charles and Earl Myers of Baytown, Texas .

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend M.D. Burnette will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 until 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Ferdie Frey

Ferdie A. Frey, 78, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, in a local hospital.

He moved from Hackberry in 1966 to the Sulphur area.

Mr. Frey was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was boat captain and owned a tugboat service for 35 years. Mr. Frey was a member of the board of directors of the Hackberry Recreation Department. He was a volunteer on benefits for many local organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Marie Frey of Sulphur; three sons, Matt Frey of Sulphur, Dale Frey of Pasadena, Texas , and Joe Frey of Dickerson, Texas ; three daughters, Janet Vassar of Carlyss, Ruth Ann Miller of Knoxville, Tenn., and Melinda Ellender of Baytown, Texas ; two sisters, Lucille Gumm of Refugio, Texas , and Patsy Poole of Sulphur; one brother, Jimmy Frey of Carlyss; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Tommy Frey.

His funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Lonnie Doyle, Sr.

LONGVILLE - Funeral services for Lonnie Doyle, Sr., 64, will be Monday in Smokey Cove Pentecostal Church. The Rev. George Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley under the direction of Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy.

Visitation will begin Sunday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Mr. Doyle died Friday in his residence.

A life resident of the Lunita/DeQuincy/Longville area, he was a former truck driver and worked in the oil field most of his life for various companies over the years.

Survivors include seven sons, Timothy Doyle of Starks, Lonnie Doyle, Jr. of Starks, Tony Doyle of DeQuincy and Dennis Doyle, Keith Doyle, Kelvin Doyle and James Lucht, all of Singer; two daughters, Connie Doyle Guy and Tiny Nixon, both of Singer; four sisters, Dorothy Stains, Mavis Hollie, Barbara Smith and Evelyn Hester, all of DeQuincy; 23 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Peggy Fills

Peggy Tate Fills, 76, of Lake Charles died at 1:10 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2003 in a Lake Charles hospital.

She was a native of Mamou and lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church for over 50 years. Mrs. Fills was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society/Good-Buy Shop.

Survivors include one son, Michael Fills of Sulphur; one daughter, Debbie Smith of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jasper Tate of Lake Charles and one sister, Blondie Stodder of Lake Charles.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, from St. Margaret Catholic Church. Reverend Aubrey Guilbeau and Monsignor Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today with a rosary being held at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Johnson Funeral Home.

Rory McHaffie

Rory Scot McHaffie, 1 year old, Passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003.

Rory was born in Lake Charles. He was the sunshine to his mother and father who will always love and miss him. Rory is survived by his father, Jason McHaffie and mother, Jennifer A. McHaffie, brother, Colin K. McHaffie, grandparents Harry E. and Teresa McHaffie, Kenneth B. O'Quain, Patricia and Walter Wozniak; great grandparents, Harry L. and Barbara J. McHaffie, Randolf and Corene Sawyer, uncles Kenneth B. O'Quain II and Garrett H. McHaffie, aunt Corene E. O'Quain; great grandparents, Pauline Ricks and Shirly A. Hilliard.

A graveside service under the direction of Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Mimosa-Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. The Rev. Ronnie Burke of First Baptist Church of Maplewood, the Rev. Bobby Taylor of Life Church of Carlyss and the Rev. Danny Vincent of River of Life Church of Carlyss will officiate.

Willie Armelin

Willie "Uncle Bimp" Armelin, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 2.

He was a native of Longville and a lifelong resident of Sulphur. He was a member of St. Peter Claver Mission. He was a Ward 4 Deputy Marshal and a member of the American Legion 553.

Survivors include his wife, Mable LeDay Armelin; seven sons, Charles (Agnes) Armelin, Felix (Liz) Armelin, Randle (Bernadine) Carrier, Sr., Ronald James (Vanessa) Carrier, all of Sulphur, Lincoln (Charlotte) Carrier, Jr. of Westlake, Donald Ray Carrier and Ricky (Paula) P. Armelin Sr., all of Lake Charles; six daughters, Kathleen Valentine, Elaine Robinson, Debra Armelin, Lisa (Dwight, Sr) Towner and Tammy Armelin Chevis, all of Sulphur, and Beverly Scott of Atlanta; two brothers, Joe Lewis Jackson and Willie Jackson , both of Dallas; a grandson whom he raised, Brandon Armelin of Sulphur; a foster daughter, Rena Lewis of New Iberia; 48 grandchildren and 69 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Comeaux.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Joby Cheradai, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Farquhar Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. in the church.

Lydia Cash

Funeral services for Lydia Faye Cash, 40, of Sulphur will be at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 1, in Robison Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will follow in Farquhar Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of services today.

Mrs. Cash was brought home peacefully by a heavenly host of angels on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, in her residence.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1963. She was a longtime resident of Sulphur and a member of Houston River Baptist Church. She was a very wonderfully talented and creative person, well known for her crafts and artwork. She was a member of the Painted Daisy Chapter in which she served as newsletter editor as well as a member of the Society of Decorative Painters.

Survivors include her husband, Ken C. Cash Jr. of Sulphur; two sons, Dustin B. and wife Brenda Cash of DeQuincy and Andrew J. Cash of Sulphur; one daughter, Destiny Cash of Sulphur; mother, Marion R. Roach, a.k.a. "Bee LeDoux" of Sulphur; one stepfather, Jerry D. LeDoux of Sulphur; father, Kenneth L. Carl of Potosi, Mo.; stepmother, Joyce Carl of Potosi; brothers, Kenny Carl, Jack J. Reeves and wife Sheila, John P. LeDoux and wife Mieke, and James H. LeDoux, all of Sulphur, and Sean Carl and Chris Carl of Potosi; maternal grandmother, Mary R. McLellan of Westlake; maternal grandfather, Warn M. Roach of Westlake; paternal grandparents, Louis and Sybil LeDoux of Sulphur; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Pauline Cash of Malvern, Ark.; best friend, Meloni Abshire; and a host of close friends.

Lenis Domingue

Funeral services for Lenis J. Domingue, 77, of Ragley will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, in the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.

Father McMillan will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today.

Mr. Domingue died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, in a local hospital.

A native of Rayne, he lived in Sulphur for 46 years and in Ragley for 31 years. He was commander of VFW 8107 for nine years. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Ragley. He was a member of Ironworkers Local Union 710. He was a well known horse trainer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Jane C. Domingue of Ragley; one daughter, Peggy Chesson of Sulphur; two brothers, Wallace Domingue of Carlyss and Tony Domingue of Alice, Texas ; three sisters, Eula Mae Comeaux, Bertha Royer and Elma Romero, all of Rayne; and five grandchildren, Mickey Domingue, David LaFleur, Rusty Domingue, Monica LaFleur and Robert LaFleur.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Domingue.

Mary Dudoit

Funeral services for Mary Jane Dudoit, 74, of Sulphur, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. The speaker Walter Littleton will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will begin Sunday at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Dudoit died at 9:55 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, in a local hospital.

She was native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. She was a baptized member of the Sulphur Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Dudoit, Jr. of Sulphur; two sons, Gene Dudoit of Sulphur and Mark Dudoit of Yalaha, Florida; two daughters, Debi Fisher and Vicki Chambliss both of Sulphur; one sister, Betty Manuel of Sulphur; one step-brother, Calvin Carlin of Sulphur; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Sophia Landry

Funeral services for Sophia Adeline Landry, 75 of Sulphur, will be at 10 a.m. Sunday from the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Landry Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of the funeral home.

Mrs. Landry died Friday, July 30, 2004 at the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Visitation hours will continue at the funeral home, 2051 E. Napoleon, Sulphur, Sunday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Landry was born on Aug. 7, 1928 to Charles and Estella Burch in Johnson Bayou. She was an avid BINGO player at the Knights of Columbus 8058, St. Theresa Catholic Church where she had her own private chair. Mrs. Landry never met a stranger, she loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include three sons; Ferddie Lloyd Leger and wife Lynn of Dayton, Texas , Danny Floyd Leger and wife Linda of Esterwood, Charles Robert Leger and wife Kathy of Longville, five daughters; Freddie Marie Buttikofer of Lafayette, Florence Diann "Ann" Welch and husband Kenny of Hackberry, Dottie Currie and companion Percy Monceaux of Carlyss, Ethel Pearl Dykes and husband Jimmy of Sulphur and Ramada "Dale" Landry of Leroy.; one sister; Ophilia Marshal of Johnson Bayou; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Calvin Wright

Calvin Ray Wright, 58, died Friday, April 2, in a Lafayette hospital.

He was a native of Lake Charles and had lived in Sulphur for 18 years and in Hackberry for 38 years. Mr. Wright was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his father, Jim Wright of Dry Creek, Louisiana ; three children, Michelle and husband Donald East, Sandy Wright and Michael Wright all of Hackberry; five sisters, Shirley Jean, Darla Hughes and Carolyn Pruitt all of Dry Creek, Louisiana , Gloria Johnson of Gillis and Gaylynn Jones of Sulphur; four brothers, Curtis Wright and Alvin Wright both of Dry Creek, Louisiana , Leonard Wright of Sulphur and Randy Wright of Hackberry; and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Justin East.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 4, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. Brother in laws of Mr. Wright, Brother Morris Pruitt and Brother William Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in New Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is Saturday from 2 p.m.-10 p.m. in the funeral home.
