James Richard Stewart, Jr.

Richard Stewart, Jr. died of undetermined causes at his residence on August 3, 2003. He was 47.

Stewart was a native of Los Angeles and a resident of Slidell for 13 years. He was an oil field worker who served four years in the United States Army as a Private 1st Class.

He was the husband of Noella Stewart; father of James R. Stewart, III and Terre Noel Stewart; son of James Richard Stewart and Marilyn Burnson; and step-son of Phillip Burnson. He was the brother of Elizabeth Maddox and Kristen Tilley.

A memorial service for family and friends was held on August 7 at New Beginnings in Slidell.

Thomas Warren Couturie

SLIDELL -- Thomas Warren Couturie died of natural causes at NorthShore Regional Medical Center on August 5, 2003. He was 73.

Couturie was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell for 35 years. He was an auto mechanic, as well as a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke Evangelist Catholic Church.

He was the beloved husband of Lucille Goodwin Couturie. He is survived by a son, David Michael Couturie, and two daughters, Susan L. Couturie and Holly C. Hansen.

The late Joseph A. and Angele M. Delery Couturie were his parents. He was the brother of Andre Delery Couturie, James Henry Couturie and Sister Judith Ann Couturie. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for family and friends will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell. Rev. Rodney P. Bourg will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time.

interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Deneene Hopkins Wright

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- Deneene Hopkins Wright died of kidney failure at Henry County Medical Center on October 5, 2003. She was 39.

Wright was a lifelong resident of Alton, La. until her recent move to McDonough, Ga. She was an employee of Wal-Mart Supercenter and a member of Quillen Temple Church of God in Christ.

She was the wife of Darwin Wright. She is survived by two children, Bridgett and Phillip Hopkins. She was the daughter of Eldora Hopkins and the late Clifton Wesley.

She was the sister of Dianne H. Miller, Fay-Etta Hopkins, Loretta Deflanders, Cynthia Palmer, JoAnn Hopkins, Deborah Penn and her husband Scott, Clifton Hopkins and his wife Katherine, George Hopkins, Wesley Hopkins, Harold Hopkins, Brian Hopkins and his wife LaTonya, as well as the late Larry Hopkins.

Her extended family includes her father and mother-in-law, Robert Wright and his wife Shirley, brother-in-laws Travis Wright and his wife Wanda, Robert Wright, Jr. and his wife Dawn, as well as one sister-in-law Robin Hall and her husband Edward.

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins to cherish her memory.

Funeral services for family, friends and employees of Wal-Mart will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Quillen Temple Church of God in Christ in Slidell. Visitation will begin on Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Schoen Funeral Home of Slidell and continue Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Slidell Memorial Park Cemetery.

Schoen Funeral Home of Slidell is in charge of arrangements.

Pama J. Sessions-Dickens

SLIDELL -- Pama J. Sessions-Dickens died on October 7, 2003 at NorthShore Regional Medical Center of cancer. She was 53.

Dickens was a native of Independence, La. and a resident of Slidell for the past 30 years. She was truly and deeply loved and will be sadly missed.

She was the beloved wife of Marvin Dickens. She was the mother of four sons: Kenneth, Rodney, Jack and Ronnie Sessions. She also had one daughter, Kathy Arsenaux. She was the daughter of Susan Ridenhower and the late Wade Baham.

She was the sister of Joann Faciane, Myra Klobas, Hazel Livingston, Debra Landry, Patty Dennis and the late Steven Wade Baham. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Hunter, Steele, Samantha, Georgie and Gracie Sessions, as well as Taylor and Johnathan Arsenaux. She is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral masswill be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom. Rev. Jonathan DeFrange will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell with a vigil service at 8 p.m. No visitation will be held before the mass on Saturday.

interment will follow in Baham Cemetery in Folsom.

Mary Lou Carlin

SLIDELL -- Mary Lou Carlin died of heart failure at her residence on October 8, 2003. She was 72.

Carlin was a native of Towanda, Pa. She was a retired manager for Time Saver Stores.

She was the mother of one son, Chris Carlin, and one daughter, Susan Carlin. She was the sister of Jack Jennings and Janet Patting. She is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held at a later date.

Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Dwight E. Arnold

SLIDELL -- Dwight E. Arnold died of heart failure at his residence on October 6, 2003. He was 74.

Arnold was a native of Canton, Ohio and a resident of Slidell for the past 27 years. He was a graduate of Kent State University with a master's degree in geology from the University of Utah. He worked for and retired from Gulf Oil Company after 30 years of service.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Christian Church of Slidell where he served as treasurer trustee, steering committee member and worship service pianist. He was involved in many charitable and civic activities.

He was the beloved husband of Alida "Lee" S. Arnold. He was the father of two sons, John Arnold of Slidell and the late Mark D. Arnold. He was the brother of Richard Arnold of Columbus, Ohio.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held today at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Pastor William Read will officiate. interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky.

Sarah K. “Sally” O’Donnell

Sarah K. “Sally” O’Donnell Passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, from complications of diabetes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved James M. O’Donnell and her son David C. Gibson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Letha Pearl Wiedemann and Theodore A. Wiedemann; her father, Frank W. Knowlton; and her former husband, Thomas C. Gibson.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas K. Gibson and Philip C. Gibson and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and her daughter; Andrea Gibson Summer Cougevan and son-in-law Patrick. She will be missed by her grandsons, Madison Smith, Christopher Gibson and Jon Gibson. She was adored by her granddaughters, Heather O. Williams and Sara Gayle McConnell, and she was G.G. to Zach, Sydney and Aiden Williams and Billy and Leland McConnell.

Sally moved 83 times in 83 years. To list the special people in her life would take volumes but you know who you are. She was a true character and brought love and humor wherever she went.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of an incredible woman Saturday at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington. Visitation is at 4 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. A celebration of her life will continue at her beloved Sarahndipity on the Tangipahoa River. Internment will be in Waterville, Maine at a later date.

James “Mr. Jim” A. Necaise

James “Mr. Jim” A. Necaise Passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at the age of 49. He was a lifelong resident of Mandeville.

He was the beloved husband of Anna Scardina Necaise; father of Jason James Necaise and his wife Candice; son of the late Audrey and Albert Necaise; brother of Chellis Necaise Pelligrin, Glyndia Necaise Miller and the late Muriel Necaise Stevens; and also survived by three granddaughters, Isabella, Layla and Jasmine Necaise.

A private celebration of life service will be held. Arrangements by Bagnell & Son Funeral Home of Covington.

Edwin R. “Ed” Markham

Edwin R. “Ed” Markham, 58, Passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at his home in Slidell.

He was the beloved husband of Mary M. Markham for the past 39 years; and father of Steve, Mike and Jim Markham.

Markham was a native of Shreveport and a resident of Slidell since 1996.

Lois Blackwell Gendusa

Lois Blackwell Gendusa, 87, born April 22, 1922, Passed away, Friday, Sept. 4, 2009.

She is survived by her only child, Pamela Anne Gendusa of New Orleans.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Angelo “Babe” John Gendusa; and her parents William Andrew Blackwell and Elsie Galloway Blackwell.

She was born in Folsom, graduated from Lyon High School and retired from the Louisiana State Department of Employment Security. She lived in New Orleans (Lakeview) 46 years before retiring fulltime with her husband to their serene 80 acres in Folsom 23 years ago.

Lois was a loving wife and mother and an excellent cook. Her daughter, Pamela would like to extend her deep appreciation to Dr. Craig Parker, the staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home, especially Julie, Wendy, Sally and Brenda for their relentless care and devotion of her mother during this trying time, Dr. Mark Hontas, the staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospital ICU and the staff of Gulf States LTAC for their loving care of her mother. Special thanks to a very dear friend, Mr. Sonny Kerlec.

Private services were held Wednesday. Entombment was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Covington.
