GEORGE PATRICK
George "Buddyred" Patrick, 68, a resident of Beaumont, Texas and native of Baldwin, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at 2:16 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital, following a long illness.
He is survived by one son, George Patrick Jr. in the United States Marines in San Diego, California; one daughter, Peggy Patrick Scott of Beaumont, Texas ; two brothers, Edward Patrick Jr. of Four Corners and Wilbert Patrick of Beaumont, Texas ; three sisters, Mrs. Conrell (Eliza) Collins of Baldwin, Mrs. Lionel (Margarite) Jones of Franklin and Redoulia Patrick of Baldwin.
Mr. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitations will be observed Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Baldwin.
Funeral rites will be Saturday, at 1 p.m., at that church. interment will follow in the Trinity United Methodist Cemetery.

CAROLE D. PENNISON
Carole Deslatte Pennison, 56, a native of Franklin and resident of Centerville, died Sept. 19, 2002, at 7:46 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
She is survived by three sons, Brian Labit of Charleston, West Virginia, Richard Labit of Centerville and Sterling Labit of Lafayette; four brothers, Royce Deslatte of Charenton, Kelly Deslatte of Garden City and Kim and David Deslatte, both of Centerville; two sisters, Celeste Ibert of Lafayette and Linda Hanberry of Picayune, Mississippi; and her mother, Lucy Newton Deslatte of Centerville.
Mrs. Pennison was preceded in death by her husband, Eric Pennison; and her father, William Deslatte.
Graveside service only was held Monday, Sept. 23, at 10:30 a.m., at the Presbyterian Cemetery. interment followed. Fr. Landry officiated.

EVANGELINE PHILLIPS
Mrs. Evangeline Phillips, 95, a resident of Franklin and native of Baldwin, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
She is survived by one son, Roy Phillips of Baldwin; one daughter, Lucy Lancelin of Baldwin; one brother, Robert Jacquot of Thibodaux; one sister, Barbara Jacquot of Thibodaux; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Visitations will be observed Friday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Baldwin.
Visitations will continue Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at that church.
Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 1 p.m., at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Carl White will officiate. interment will follow in the Greater New Hope Cemetery.

TROY THOMAS SALONE
Troy Thomas Salone, 35, a native of Lakenheath, England and a resident of Verdunville since 1968, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Boykin Salone of Verdunville; mother, Diana Verdun Salone of Verdunville; father, Ted Salone of Franklin; daughters, Brandy Rogers of Charenton, and Mary Salone of Verdunville; stepdaughter, Heather Charpentier of Jeanerette; stepson, Zeb LeBlanc of Verdunville; and sister, Tanya Elhinawy of Morgan City.
Mr. Salone was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary.
Service will be Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary. The Rev. Bobby Hodnett will officiate.

GIRLIE MAE STEWART SMITH
Girlie Mae Stewart Smith, 74, a resident of Plaquemine and native of Point Pleasant, La., died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 7:14 p.m., at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City, following a long illness.
She is survived by her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Michael Stewart Sr. and Wanda Ireland Stewart of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Elvira Cosey of Baton Rouge and Deloris Brooks and her husband, Royal Brooks Sr. of New Orleans; one brother, Delmar Stewart of Point Pleasant; one sister-in-law, Maudria Stewart of Point Pleasant; five grandchildren, Anita, Michael Jr. and LaToya Stewart and Beant’e Beverly, all of Baton Rouge, and La’Shawn Beverly Howard and her husband, Jason Howard, of Hartford, Connecticut; a great grandson, Jahnt’e K Williams of Baton Rouge; two godsons, Lawrence Cosey of Baton Rouge and Donald Stewart of Point Pleasant; three aunts, Vera Valentine of New Orleans, Hazel Sparrow and Alberta and her husband, Robert Thomas Sr., all of Point Pleasant; one uncle, James and his wife, Hallie Mitchell, of New Orleans.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Sr. and Elmira "Curley" Mitchell Stewart; one brother, Lawrence Stewart Jr.; and one brother-in-law, William Cosey Sr.
She was a graduate of Iberville High School and Carrie’s Beauty College in Baton Rouge. She enjoyed singing, helping others and needlework. She had been a resident of the Plaquemine Nursing Home.
Visiting at Point Pleasant Baptist Church from 4 p.m. Friday until wake at 7 p.m.
Religious service at the church at noon Saturday, Jan. 25. The Rev. Clarence Stewart Sr., pastor of Triumph Baptist Church and St. Stephen Baptist Church, will deliver words of comfort. interment will follow in the Point Pleasant Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Stewart, Royal Brooks Jr., Lawrence Cosey, Frank McCoy, John Parker, Louis Stewart and Rodney Sparrow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Delmar Stewart, Murphy Ireland Sr., Royal Brooks Sr., Robert Thomas Sr., Ernest Tatney Sr., James Mitchell, Elder George Stewart, Murphy Ireland Jr., Patrick Parker and Dwayne Harding.

GEORGETTE SMITH
Georgette Pauline Collins Hatcher Smith, 96, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Franklin, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at 1:35 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Theo Smith of Boise, Idaho and Pete Boudreaux of Centerville; one daughter, Nina Belle Hatcher Lawrence of New Iberia; one sister, Germaine Collins Hanagriff of Centerville; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Menton Hatcher; 2nd husband, Capt. Thoville Smith; three sons, Richard Menton, Eugene Joseph and Rudy Fred Hatcher; one daughter, Eleanor Merle Smith; father, Fredrick Collins; mother, Elucia Terrebone Collins; one sister, Freddia Collins Cheramie; and nine brothers, Levy, Aramise, Hennessy, Freddie, Jesty, Beagelon, George, Randolph and Theodore Collins.
She was a member of the King’s Daughters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary until time of service.
Service will be Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Centerville. The Rev. Mark Gaudin will officiate. interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

LOUIS STEWART
Mr. Louis Stewart, 73, a resident and native of Franklin, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at 12:55 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital, following a short illness.
He is survived by a companion, Lillian Mae Blanks of Franklin; three sons, Jerry James of Verdunville, Matthew Blanks of Franklin and Patrick James of Austin, Texas ; three daughters, Pamela Bourgeois of Verdunville, Latisha Blanks of Franklin and Julie Inmon of Austin, Texas ; two brothers, Royal Stewart of Franklin and Shedrick Stewart of Seattle, Washington ; one sister, Stella Colbert of Houston, Texas ; 17 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Visitations will be observed Monday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Otis Mortuary Chapel.
Burial rites will be Monday, at 1 p.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. interment will follow in the Main Street Cemetery.

MARGARETT STOKES
Margarett Stokes, 77, a resident and native of Morgan City, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at 9:10 p.m., at the Morgan City Health Care Center.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Johnson and William L. Stokes, both of Morgan City; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Visitations will be observed Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Mt. Era Baptist Church in Morgan City.
Funeral rites will be Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at that church. The Rev. Lenel Watson will officiate. interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

HAROLD L. TURNER
Harold Lloyd Turner, 82, a native of Franklin and a resident of Avondale, La., died Oct. 4, 2004, in New Orleans.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m., at the Davis Mortuary in Gretna.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brown Turner; four daughters, Jewel Lynn (Calvin) Thompson, Yolanda Marie Turner, Hendria Lutier Turner and Gail (Joseph) Rogers; one son, David Turner; one brother, Leo Turner of Houston, Texas ; two sisters, Vera Beasley of California and Ruth Early of Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Turner and Lessie Taylor Turner; two brothers, Emile Turner and Daniel Turner; and one sister, Louisiana Turner Hall.
