EZEKIEL AUGMAN JR.

Ezekiel Marcus Augman Jr., 70, a resident of Patterson and a native of Lafayette, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, at 10:17 a.m.

Ezekiel was a veteran of the United States Army in 1960, then later joined the United States Marines.

Visitation will be held at St. Luke Baptist Church in Patterson Friday, Dec 3, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Shield Society Cemetery in Patterson.

Ezekiel leaves to cherish his memories a son, Stephen Augman of Haywood, California; a daughter, Virginia Augman of Richmond, California; a brother, Rev. William Augman Sr. of Morgan City; a sister, Annie Augman of Patterson; six grandchildren; one step grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.

Ezekiel was preceded in death by his father, his mother, three brothers, one niece and some uncles and aunts.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MELVIN BARTLEY SR.

Melvin Bartley, Sr., 73, a lifelong resident and native of Morgan City, Passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Teche Regional Medical Center, at 3:10 p.m.

Visitation will be Monday, October 25 at Mt. Era Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Melvin worked for the City of Morgan City for 18 years as a foreman of the cement crew. Prior to his employment with the city, he was a self-employed brick mason, a craft he learned and mastered from his father.

As a high school student athlete he achieved recognition in basketball and football, his gridiron statistics catapulted him to do spring training with the renowned late Eddie Robinson at Grambling State University in 1958.

Melvin was a deacon, member of the trustee board, and president of the Pastor’s Aide Club at the Mt. Era Baptist Church where he was a member from childhood. Additionally, he was a Masonic Mason, having been elected to serve as Worshipful Master for numerous terms. He achieved the rank of 33rd Mason from John Parson Consistory #170.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gertrude Pittman Bartley of Morgan City; two sons, Melvin Bartley Jr. of Morgan City and Stephen W. Bartley of Lafayette; two brothers, Herbert Bartley and Frank (Janice) Bartley III, both of Baton Rouge; six sisters, Ruby B. Sanchez and Celia B. Clark, both of Baton Rouge, Audrey B. (Roland) Merchant of Toluca Lake, California, Gloria B. (Calhoun) Moultrie of New Orleans, Lorraine Bartley of Holland, Ohio and Laura B. Marshall of Morgan City; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Martin of New Orleans and John (Brenda) Pittman of Morgan City; and sisters-in-law, Brenda H. Bartley and Dinah Shore Pittman, both of Morgan City; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Bartley and Hazel Smith Bartley; one daughter, Zingara Lynn Bartley; a brother, Huey Leonard Bartley and two sisters, Jacqueline Bartley and Melinda Bartley Martin.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LEO JOHN BECNEL

Leo John Becnel, OD, of Healdsburg, California, died September 17, 2010 while working on the Becnel Family Vineyards.

A founding member of North Coast Bank, a lifetime Lions Club member, along with a host of other service and professional organizations, his involvement in the community was a natural extension of his optometry practice.

Dr. Leo John Becnel Jr. was born March 10, 1937 in Franklin, the son of Leo John Becnel Sr. and Ruth Mary Boudreaux Becnel. The list of lives he directly affected is long.

Survivors include two proud children and their families, son, Kevin Becnel and his wife, Alena, their children Alena Ruth, Kassian, Leila and Darian; daughter, Jennifer Becnel Hamelburg and her husband, David, their children, Ava and Sara; sister, Rosemary Becnel Funk and her husband, Ralph; and loving longtime companion, Mari-Ann Gibbs Rivers and her daughter, Aimee.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Assumption.

CURTIS BOURGOYNE

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at noon in St. Elizabeth Seton Church for Curtis Joseph Bourgoyne, 39, who Passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas .

interment will in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Bourgoyne was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. He was a 1989 graduate of Northside High School and was employed by Knight Oil Tools for the past six years.

Survivors include his parents, Chad and Maxine Bourgoyne of Breaux Bridge; one son, Corey Christopher Bourgoyne of Carencro; his fiancée, Monica Sonnier of Breaux Bridge; one step son, Chad Sonnier of Breaux Bridge; two step daughters, Callie Bourque and Cassie Sonnier, both of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Christopher Bourgoyne and his wife, Amanda, of New Iberia; one sister, Lori Bourgoyne of Breaux Bridge; two nephews, his godchildren, Michael Bourgoyne and Garrett Bourgoyne; and numerous cousins.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday and continue from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

DOROTHY COUVILLIER

Dec. 24, 1938 ~ Sept. 20, 2010

Mrs. Dorothy Bailey Couvillier, 71, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Franklin, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at 8:10 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

The Couvillier family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, September 21, from 7 p.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, at the Myette Point Baptist Mission Church in Franklin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, September 22, at 2 p.m., at the Myette Point Baptist Mission in Franklin, with Pastor Chris Holloway, Pastor Joe Sauce and Brother Bill McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Melodye Bergeron and her husband, Darrell, of Franklin and Kim Kelly and her husband, Harold, of Franklin; one son, Lynwood Couvillier and his wife, Crystal, of Patterson; two sisters, Alberta Marcotte and Carol Ann Hebert; one brother, Albert Bailey Jr.; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert “Putt” Couvillier; her parents, Albert Bailey Sr. and Agnes Sauce Bailey; a sister, Lena Mae Couvillier; and a brother, Milton Bailey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

LILLIAN DUPUIS

Oct. 1, 1919 ~ Oct. 17, 2010

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at 12 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption for Lillian Dupuis, 95, a native of Leonville and a longtime resident of Franklin, who Passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, at 12:45 p.m., in Franklin.

Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will conduct the services.

Lillian is survived by one sister, Ethel Dupuis Emmens of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pierre Dupuis Sr. and Stella Guidry Dupuis; six brothers, Charles, Joel, Pierre Jr., William, Emery, Edward and John Dupuis; and two sisters, Vivian Durio and Irene Dupuis Dugas.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Church of the Assumption, from 9 a.m. until Mass time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

INA C. FLEMING SR.

Mr. Ina C. Fleming Sr., 88, a resident and native of Baldwin, died suddenly Thursday, November 11, 2010, at 7:45 a.m., at his residence.

He is survived by a devoted friend, Marsha Darby Green of Franklin; three daughters, Sandra Fleming Downs of Houston, Texas , China and Chi’Angel Fleming of Franklin; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son.

Visitations will be observed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baldwin Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with a Rosary at 11:30 a.m.

Burial rites will be read Wednesday at noon at that church, with Father Gregory P. Cormier officiating. Entombment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

GREGORY FLENIKEN

LAFAYETTE — On September 16, 2010, Gregory (Greg) Joseph Fleniken, 55, entered into eternal rest. Greg will be remembered for the great love and passion that he shared with his wife, Susie Aycock Fleniken.

Greg was the Vice President of OGM Land Company in Beaumont, TX. While he worked weekdays away from home, he took great pleasure in returning home on the weekends. It was at home that Greg joined his wife and welcomed guests from all around the world to their Bed & Breakfast Inn. Guests will certainly remember him as a welcoming gentleman and one who embraced them in a home of warmth.

In addition to his wife and those he worked closely with on a daily basis, Greg will be remembered as a devoted son, a wonderful brother, a loving uncle and a tremendous friend. He touched so many lives, even those who came into his life as a stranger. They certainly didn’t leave that way.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Susan Aycock Fleniken; mother, Jane N. Fleniken of Lafayette; two sisters, Cindi Baxter and her husband, John, of Lafayette and Sondra Young of Mena, Arkansas; one brother, Michael Fleniken and his wife, Connie Walton, of Burton, Texas ; brothers-in-law, Jody Aycock and his wife, June, of Lafayette, Dr. Ken Aycock and his wife, Sandra, of Franklin and Larry Aycock and his wife, Kathy, of Lafayette; sisters-in-law, Barbara “Tateen” Ory and her husband, Dr. Dirk Ory of Thibodaux and Mary Margaret Valls and her husband, Michael Valls of New Iberia; and his mother-in-law, Elaine C. Aycock of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carroll J. Fleniken.

A Memorial Service was held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at 2 p.m., in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette. Reverend Ann Sutton of Northwood United Methodist Church in Lafayette conducted the service.

MYRTLE LANDRY GLORIOSO

CHARENTON — Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Samuel J. “Sammy” Glorioso Jr., the former Myrtle “Myrt” Landry, age 74, Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton, with Fr. Thomas Vu and Deacon Douglas Hebert officiating.

Visitation will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.

A native of Jeanerette and resident of Charenton, Mrs. Glorioso Passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 8:40 p.m. in a local hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Catholic. “Myrt” was a member of the Charenton Rosary Group and she loved reading her Bible.

Mrs. Glorioso is survived by her daughters, Vickie Glorioso of Lafayette; Mary Ann Hebert and husband, J.P., of Franklin; and Kathy Burdett and husband, Ty, of Franklin; her son, Chris Glorioso and wife, Shawn, of Berwick; her devoted cousin, Carol Glorioso of Charenton; her grandchildren, Scott Burdett, Brandon Burdett and Christian Glorioso, all of Franklin; six step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Glorioso was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. “Sammy” Glorioso Jr.; her son, Scott Glorioso; her parents, Fernand Landry and Clothilde Boudreaux Landry; brothers, Raymond Landry, Roland Landry and Donald Landry; sisters, June Landry, Helen Delaune, Ethel Skyles, Judy Landry and Elaine Landry.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Glorioso, Christian Glorioso, Ty Burdett, Scott Burdett, Brandon Burdett and J.P. Hebert.
