GERMAINE HANAGRIFF

Mrs. Germaine "Jerry" Collins Hanagriff, 98, a native of Leeville, La. and a resident of Centerville since 1937, died Friday, February 22, 2008, at 3 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Centerville Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, at 2 p.m., at the church, with the Rev. Curtis Pace officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Mrs. Hanagriff is survived by one son, Charles "Billy" William Hanagriff Jr. and his wife, Josie, of Centerville; one daughter, Josie Hanagriff Dykes of Centerville; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Dykes Beter and her husband, Richard, of Mandeville; Kimberly Dykes Bergeron of Mandeville; Lynn Dykes Dodds and her husband, Robert, of Carencro; Charles William Hanagriff III of Baton Rouge; and Samuel Schwan Hanagriff of Centerville; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Hanagriff Sr.; one son-in-law, Hugh Dykes; her parents, Frederick Collins and Alicia Terrebonne Collins; and nine brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centerville Presbyterian Foundation, P.O. Box 343, Centerville, LA 70522 or to Calvary Bible Church, P.O. Box 127, Centerville, LA 70522.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

LAWRENCE HAMILTON

Lawrence Hamilton, 66, a resident of Patterson, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 5:25 p.m., at Kindred Hospital in New Orleans.

The visitation will be at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Morgan City Monday, March 8, from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 1 p.m. The Rev. Ron Bias will officiate. Burial will follow in the Patterson Memorial Cemetery.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Rutha M. Hamilton of Patterson; three sons, Ellis Gaskins Jr. of Morgan City, Peter Gaskins of Richmond, Virginia and Eric Gaskins of Berwick; six daughters, Paulette Lewis of Patterson, Tina Ross of San Antonio, Texas , Diana Gaskins of Tallahassee, Florida, Thais Johnson of Conyers, Georgia, Tonya O’Prien of Snellville, Georgia and Tremaine Twch of Duluth, Georgia; a sister, Lisa Dorsey of Des Allemands; 21 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

EDWARD HALE JR.

Mr. Edward Hale Jr., 78, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, died December 7, 2007, at the Franklin Foundation Hospital.

The family requests that visitation be observed December 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert’s in Franklin. Visitation will resume at Ibert’s Tuesday at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, at 1 p.m., at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin, with Father Thomas Vu officiating the services. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.

Mr. Hale is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Barbara Sinitiere Hale of Franklin; two sons, Edward James Hale and his wife, Marsha, of Lafayette, and Barton Hale of Franklin; one daughter, Christy Brubaker and her husband, Mark, of Lafayette; one brother, Alex Hale of Charenton; eight grandchildren, Edward Kristian Hale, Mark Scott Brubaker, Thomas Jeremy Hale, William Edward Brubaker, Dustin James Hale, Lyndi Bourque, Kayla Brubaker and Nicole Brubaker; and five great grandchildren, Thomas Jeremy Hale Jr., Noah Bourque, Kamryn Bourque, Emma Hale and Peyton Hale.

Mr. Hale was preceded in death by his father, Edward Vanner Hale; his mother, Mildred Mary Ardeneaux Hale Hebert; three brothers, Edward Vanner Hale, Olin James Hale and Billy Hale; and one sister, Ida Mae Millet.

Acting as pallbearers are Edward Kristian Hale, Mark Scott Brubaker, Thomas Jeremy Hale, William Edward Brubaker, Dustin James Hale and Justin Bourque.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

CABELL HALE

Services for Cabell Hale, 84, of Kilgore, Texas , were held Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 at the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darwood Galaway officiating. Burial was at the Pirtle Cemetery. Mr. Hale died at his home in Kilgore Friday, Aug. 27, 2010.

He was born June 8, 1926 in the Crossroads Community to Alonza B. and Mattie Hale. Cabell was a graduate of Kilgore High School and attended Kilgore College. Mr. Hale served our country in the 40th Infantry Division of the Army in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a longtime member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Cabell was actively involved in the life of St. Luke’s where he attended the McDavid-McKinley Sunday School Class and the Faith Promise Mission Program was very special to him. Mr. Hale worked for Gibson Drilling Co. and retired from R. Lacy. He enjoyed his grandchildren, working in his garden and taking care of his yard. Cabell will always be remembered as loving, caring and dependable by his extended family, friends and acquaintances.

Mr. Hale is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Billie Hale of Kilgore; a son Joe Cabell Hale and his wife Sonya of Longview, Texas ; a daughter, Joy Elizabeth Naquin and her husband, David of Franklin, La.; calling him Poppa were his grandchildren, Lyndsey Naquin of Baton Rouge, Chad Naquin of Sunset, La., Lani Green of Longview, Benny Jones of Gladewater, Texas ; and everal nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 401 North Main Street, Kilgore, Texas 75662.

GLADYS GRAY

Gladys Gray, 87, a resident and native of Morgan City, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at 8:20 p.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

She is survived by three sons, Burnell Gray Jr. of San Francisco, CA, Arthur Gray of Patterson and Dwayne Gray of Morgan City; five daughters, Marlene Jenkins, Mrs. William (Adele) Brashear, Mrs. Raymond (Gladys) Ruffin and Mrs. Emile (Sheila) Washington , all of Morgan City, and Mary Esther Baytop of San Francisco; one stepdaughter, Hazel Allen Morris of Baton Rouge; 28 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, a sister, two brothers, a son, a grandson and one great great granddaughter.

Visitations will be observed Friday, June 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ephesian Baptist Church.

Funeral rites will be held Saturday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at that church. interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

MARLENE JENKINS

Marlene “Mert” Jenkins, 72, a resident of Morgan City and native of Berwick, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Teche Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by two sons, Edgar “EJ” Charles Jr. and Lenny Jenkins, both of Morgan City; two daughters, Carol Ann Gamble of Houston, TX and Tabitha Jenkins of Morgan City; three brothers, Burnell Gray Jr. of San Francisco, CA, Arthur “Rudolph” Gray Jr. of Patterson and Dwayne “Foots” Gray of Morgan City; four sisters, Adele Brashear, Gladys Ruffin and Sheila Washington , all of Morgan City, and Mary Esther Baytop of San Francisco; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one son.

Visitations will be observed Friday, July 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ephesian Baptist Church.

Visitations Saturday, July 31, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Siracusaville Recreation Center. Funeral Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the center. interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

OTIS LEE GRANGER

Otis Lee Granger, 66, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Chicago, Passed away on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, after a brief illness at the Mercy Hospice Hospital surrounded by his family.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 16 at Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City at 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Otis is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Fedria M. Granger of Morgan City; his three children, Otis Keon Granger, Joshua G. Granger and Cara E. Granger, all of Chicago; four sisters, Evelyn Bogan, Cassandra Pratt and Rhonda (Raymond) Daniels, all of Morgan City, and Regina J. Livingston of Clarksville, Tennessee; six brothers, Eldrich Granger Sr., Michael Granger Sr., Wilfred Livingston, Allen Livingston and Craig Livingston, all of Morgan City, and Eddie L. Livingston Jr. of New Iberia; and a special friend, Pamela Rifer of Chicago.

Otis was preceded in death by his wife, one son, his parents, his stepfather, and two brothers.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of the memorial service.

LIONEL L. GRANGER

Lionel Lloyd “Bro. Fox” Granger, 65, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at his residence at 10:35 a.m.

Visitation will be Saturday, Dec 11 at Siracusaville Recreation Center from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Lionel leaves to cherish his memories six sons, Ricky Granger, Lionel (Stacey) Granger III, Rodney Granger and Brandon (Jamie Lynn) Granger, all of Morgan City, Patrick (Marty) Granger of Newport, Rhode Island and Jamon Granger of Patterson; one daughter, Dasmon Granger of Baton Rouge; six sisters, Mrs. Leo (Catherine) Mingo, Mrs. Hendry (Deborah) Johnson , Mrs. Charles (Ruby) Maixe and Patty Granger, all of Morgan City; Diana Wells of Metairie and Gale Thomas of Patterson; one brother, Harry (Pat) Granger of Houma; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

EUSTAN GEOFFRAY

Eustan Geoffray, 88, a resident of New Iberia, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 10:05 a.m., at his daughter’s residence.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at David Funeral Home in New Iberia. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, at 6:30 p.m.

Visitation will continue Monday, Jan. 28 from 8 a.m. to service time.

Services will be Monday, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

DAISY JONES FRANCIS

Mrs. Daisy Jones Francis, 80, a resident and native of Franklin, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 4:14 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital following a short illness.

She is survived by 10 sons, Harold Francis Sr. of Fremont, California, Raymond, Samuel, Gerald and Darrell Francis of Austin, Texas , Michael L. Francis of Franklin, Wallace, Willie and Herman Francis of Atlanta, Georgia and Harrison Francis Jr. of Farmington, New Mexico; four daughters, Helen Robertson of Houston, Texas , Carol Maze of Alexandria, Octavia Bogan of Houma and Louise F. Pierre of Baldwin; one sister, Ruby Walls of Franklin; 42 grandchildren; and 49 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Francis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one sister and one brother.

Visitations will be observed Monday, February 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Triumph Baptist Church in Franklin.

Burial rites will be read Monday, at 1 p.m., at that church, with the Rev. Clarence Stewart Sr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the Franklin Garden Mausoleum.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
