SANDY CORKERN

Sandy Lang Corkern, 62, a resident of Franklinton and former resident of Franklin, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.

Sandy was a marine advisory agent with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service through LSU for 24 years. He served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and earned a masters of science degree in zoology from Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a Master Mason at Pine Lodge 264, and a vestry member, lector and Lay Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthew Episcopal Church in Bogalusa. Sandy was also a member of MAC-Motorcycle Awareness Campaign and an alumnus of Theta Xi Fraternity.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Virginia “Ginger” Baham Corkern of Franklinton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Beth Corkern and Matthew Fontenot, and Sarah Corkern, all of Austin; son, Tim Corkern of Baton Rouge; father, Daniel E. Corkern of Sheridan; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dale and Phil Bowman of St. Amant, Karen and Johnny Hobgood and Susan and Walter O’Bryant, all of Sheridan; and brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Nancy Corkern of Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Masel Lang Corkern.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 22-23. A Masonic service was held Tuesday at the funeral home. A funeral service was Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Deacon Milton Gibson officiating. Burial followed at the Smith Cemetery on La. 439 in Franklinton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pine Masonic Lodge 264, c/o Brian Luper, 23271 McCain Rd; Franklinton, LA 70438.

JUNE G. CONCIENNE

Funeral services will be held at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 23, 2007 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for June Gaudin Concienne, 69, who Passed away Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

The Reverend Kenneth J. Domingue, Pastor of St. Augustine Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Concienne, a native of Franklin and resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Irby Gaudin and the former Inez Robicheaux, both of Franklin. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Daughters. Her family was the joy and fulfillment in her life. She loved roses and loved visiting friends, family and classmates. She had the gentlest, kindest heart and always thought of others.

Survivors include her husband, Emile J. Concienne Jr. of Lafayette; her mother, Inez R. Gaudin of Franklin; two daughters, Denise M. Concienne of Lafayette and Renee C. Falgout and husband, Ronnie, of Kingwood, Texas ; and three grandchildren, Daniel J. McManus and wife, Jamie; Heather Ann Falgout and Victoria Marie Falgout.

She was preceded in death by her father.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Saturday, from 8 a.m. until time of service.

A rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Falgout, Dewey Gauthier, Daniel McManus, Jackson Moss, Dale Robicheaux, Ray Rodriguez and Emmet J. Martin.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of all funeral arrangements.

PAULINE BOUDREAUX COMPTON

August 15, 1931 ~ May 6, 2010

Mrs. Pauline Boudreaux Compton, 78, a native of Charenton and a resident of Franklin, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 10:16 p.m., at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

Mrs. Pauline is survived by one daughter, Paula Compton Deslatte of Centerville; two sons, John “Rip” Compton and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin and Bob Compton and his wife, Janet, of Aberdeen, South Dakota; six grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Annie and Shane Compton and Darelle and Darren Deslatte; four step grandchildren, Melissa Allison, David Akers, Kayla and Katie Strubb; seven great grandchildren; six great step grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Lily.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulalie and Manville Boudreaux; her husband, Bobby Joe Compton; one sister, Yvette Boudreaux; three brothers, Wilma Boudreaux, Bobby Boudreaux and Maxie Boudreaux; and her son-in-law, Kelly Deslatte.

Pauline was a 1950 graduate of St. John Academy. She worked for 27 years for the St. Mary Parish School Food Service at Foster Elementary. She loved gardening, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a joy to be with and a shame to be without.

The family requested that visitation be observed on Monday, March 10, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin. A rosary was prayed at 1:30 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, May 10, at 2 p.m., at the Church of Assumption, with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating. Burial followed in the Franklin Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bob Compton, Rip Compton, Shane Compton, Joshua Compton, Darren Deslatte, Brent Boudreaux, Jimmy Presley and Lionel Mire.

The Compton family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Nugent, Dr. Rinaldi and his oncology staff, as well as Franklin Home Care for their special care and concern.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

LOIS LEBLANC COMEAUX

Nov. 30, 1938 ~ Jan. 18, 2011

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, January 21, 2011, at 2 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary for Lois “Puggy” LeBlanc Comeaux, 72, a native of Baldwin and a longtime resident of Franklin, who Passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at 12:30 p.m., at Iberia Medical Center.

Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baldwin. Fr. Thomas Vu of St. Jules Catholic Church will officiate the services.

Survivors include her three sons, Danny Comeaux and his wife, Lisa, of Augusta, Georgia; Ken Comeaux and his wife, Pam, of Baldwin; and Brad Comeaux of Jeanerette; longtime companion, Thomas J. LeBlanc of Franklin; one brother, Ray J. LeBlanc of Lafayette; seven sisters, Rosalie “Lily” Broussard, Molly Billiot, Claire Walker and Elaine Hebert, all of Franklin, Yvonne Broussard of Groves, Texas , Nancy L. Armstrong of Oxford, Alabama and Kathy Genest of Jeanerette; five grandchildren, Blake Comeaux, Shane Comeaux, Kerri Comeaux, Halle Comeaux and Casey Comeaux.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Daisy LeBlanc ; one brother, Donald “Pomp” LeBlanc ; three sisters, Gail LeBlanc , Mary Ann “Boo” Loveless and Beverly Chauvin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, January 21 at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 11 a.m. until Mass time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

GEOFFREY COLEMAN

July 3, 1968 - July 13, 2009

Geoffrey Leo Coleman, 41, born in Lakenheath, England and a longtime resident of Franklin, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Boynt Coleman of Franklin; his daughter, Bailey Coleman of Franklin; his son, Zachary Coleman of Franklin; his parents, Wayne and Rosalie Coleman, both of Franklin; his two brothers, Bryan Coleman and his wife, Lisi, both of Moss Bluff, and Terrill Coleman and his wife, Melody, both of Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, July 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ibert’s, with a 7 p.m. Rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Church of Assumption on Thursday, July 16, at 10 a.m., with Father Lloyd Benoit officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main St., Franklin.

NICODEMUS ‘LIL DEMUS’ COLBERT JR.

Nicodemus “Lil Demus” Colbert Jr., 79, a native of Ashton and a resident of Downey, California, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Care in Downey, Calif.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 6, at Greater New Hope in Baldwin, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., with interment following in the church cemetery.

Lil Demus is survived by four daughters, Brenda M. Gordon of Cypress, Calif., Gale M. Fuller and Leshia F. Powell, both of Bellflower, Calif., and Mrs. Lyle (Denise) Parayno of Corona, Calif.; a son, Fred A. Colbert of Bellflower, Calif.; two sisters, Ella Mae Lewis and Willie Mae Colbert, both of Baldwin; and two brothers, Frank Colbert and Ira Colbert, both of Houston, Texas ; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City/Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

CECILE MARTIN

Cecile Martin, 92, of Texas City, Passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, in Alvin, Texas .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, with Father Tom Ponzini officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, TX, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Martin was born October 22, 1917 in Franklin, Louisiana . She was a homemaker and seamstress at Phelps Men’s Store. She was a member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Martin Jr.; and sons, S. J. Martin III and Ronald R. Martin, her parents, Howard Arboneaux and Cecile Hidalgo Arboneaux, two brothers, Warren Arboneaux and Howard Arboneaux Jr.

Survivors include her son, Howard Martin and wife, Debbie, of Alvin; daughters, Anne Martin, Judy Lavespere, Susan Tyson and husband, Wes, Agnes Fraga and husband, Dale, Karen Tew and husband, Dana; daughter-in-law, Patty Martin; sisters, Evelyn Guillotte and Lettie Chapron; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

CARRIE CLARKSTON

Carrie D. Clarkston, 90, a native of Fairfax, La. and resident of Franklin, died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday, February 4 at the First Pentecostal Church on Barrow and Lee Charles St. in Franklin from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Franklin Mausoleum.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memories seven sons, Edward (Ethel) Clarkston Jr. of Houston, Texas ; Joseph D. (Dorothy Mae) Clarkston of Garden City; Walter L. (Dorothy) Clarkston Sr. of Franklin; Jonathan E. Clarkston Sr. of Pineville; Emmanuel J. Clarkston of Metairie; Barry J. (Sandra) Clarkston Sr. of Franklin; and James C. (Wendy) Clarkston of Mapleton, Georgia; five daughters, Mrs. Royal (Carrie C.) Stewart, Mrs. Darryl (Edlena C.) Brice and Mae B. Clarkston, all of Franklin, Mrs. Autrey (Tracy C.) Johnson III of Stanley, Kansas and Mrs. Alonzo (Antonia D.) Petty of Huntsville, Alabama; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Clarkston Sr.; her parents, three brothers, a sister and a daughter, Elizabeth Clarkston.

Jones Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
