ROBERT JOSEPH BROWN

Robert Joseph Brown, 71, of Kinder, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 29, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas .

Visitation was from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Born in Franklin, Louisiana on August 11, 1939, Robert was the son of Wilda (Boudreaux) and Merrill E. Brown. He retired as an inspector for the Health Department of Orange County, and was the owner and operator of Burger Chef for many years. Robert was a former member of the Orange Lions Club. He looked forward every year to the Lion’s Club Carnival where he loved cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs. An avid fisherman, he loved camping and traveling. He loved to dance and he loved life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce Brown; and sister, Barbara Robicheaux.

Robert is survived by his wife, Bobby (Ryder) Brown of Kinder; sons, Rev. John Brown and wife, Lynda of Highlands, TX, Robert Brown, II of Orange; daughter, Carrie Jaynes and husband, Marty of Orange; grandchildren, Taylor Jaynes, Ryan Brown, Stephen Brown, Connor Jaynes, Joshua Brown, Tyler Brown, Seth Brown, and Cailyn Brown; brother, Merrill E. Brown and wife, Pat of Fort Worth; and sister, Lloyd Bourgeois and husband, Buddy, of Baldwin.

He is also survived by his step-children, Jennifer Manuel and husband, Nolton, of Oberlin, Gary Duplechin and wife, Monica, of Kinder, Cindy Trobaugh and husband, John, of Kinder, Troy Duplechin and wife, Patti, of Spring, TX and Delana Baker and husband, Len, of Natchitoches; 14 step-grandchildren; and 22 step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.

DANNY BROUSSARD

Danny Joseph Broussard, 68, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Danny is survived by his daughter, Shanon Ware and her husband, Dave, of Franklin; his sister, Sherry Darce of Baldwin; his granddaughter, Jade Ware of Franklin; his grandson, Peyton Ware of Franklin; and a dear friend, Sherry Luke of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Robicheaux Broussard; his father, Dennis Broussard; his mother, Lucille Guidry Broussard; his brother, Gerald “Bud” Broussard; and his sister, Joyce Boudreaux.

The family requests that memorial visitation be observed Thursday, June 25, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the Church of the Assumption.

Memorial services for Danny will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Assumption, with Deacon Douglas Hebert officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

ODAY BROUSSARD JR.

Oday Broussard Jr. was born Jan. 10, 1937 to the late Oday Broussard Sr. and Lucille B. Broussard in New Iberia. He departed this life on Sept. 30, 2010, at 3:29 p.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Verdunville, and was an active member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council No. 124.

He leaves to cherish his memories a brother, Alfred Broussard Sr.; a sister, Gladys Landry Pellerin; a devoted nephew, Harold Paul Jr.; a devoted niece, Loretta Broussard Booker; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Arthur Broussard Sr., Wilfred Broussard Sr., Earl Sterling, Willie Sterling, Joseph Provost Sr., Lawrence Landry Sr.; and three sisters, Gloria Landry Paul, Mary Elodie Broussard and Mary Odette Broussard Paul.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Verdunville. An offertory by the Knights will be held at 10 a.m., with a rosary to follow. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., with Father Thomas Vu officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

BILLIE WALKER-BROUSSARD

Billie Walker-Broussard, 51, a native and resident of Morgan City, Passed away November 9, 2010, at 4:30 p.m., at Hospice of Baton Rouge.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16 at New Zorah Baptist Church from 8 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Billie leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Ronald Broussard Sr. of Morgan City; six sons, Sherrick (Alonda) Walker and Christopher (Nakesia) Walker, all of Patterson, Jeremy Walker of Houston, Texas , Courtlin Carter of Morgan City and Gerald (Nancy) Ledet of Florida; two daughters, Brittany Stevens of Mobile, Alabama and Brooklyn Carter of Baton Rouge; three stepdaughters, Melanie Coleman, Deandrea Broussard and Tamika Broussard, all of New Orleans; two brothers, Barry (Dina) Walker Sr. of Morgan City and Keith Walker of Opelousas; four sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Veronica) Francis of Opelousas, Mrs. Patrick (Evelyn Corleen) Levine and Liska Kemp, both of Morgan

City, and Sidney Walker of Patterson; 26 grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GLENN A. BROOKS

Glenn Anthony Brooks, 52, a resident and native of Patterson, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 10:50 a.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

He is survived by his devoted companion, Diane Batiste of Patterson; mother, Ida Mae Brooks of Patterson; two brothers, Wayne Gant of Franklin and James Brown of Houston, Texas ; four sisters, Lisa Darnell and Crystal Gant, both of Patterson, Quanita Brooks of Houston and Linda Gant of Franklin; and seven grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn an uncle, aunts, godkids, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his brother, two sisters, his grandparents and a nephew.

Visitations will be observed Friday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Funeral rites will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., at that church. interment will follow in the Patterson Memorial Cemetery.

The East St. Mary Funeral Squad will perform military honors.

The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

EMMA MENDEZ BRAST

March 13, 1926 ~ Jan. 17, 2011

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 2 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption for Emma Mendez Brast, 84, a native of Tegucigalpa, Honduras and a longtime resident of Franklin, who Passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, at 10:24 a.m., at Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

Ms. Emma is survived by two daughters, Nancy Brast Adams of Franklin and Janice Brast of Franklin; five grandchildren, Catina LeBlanc Stelly and her husband, Ray Stelly Jr. of Breaux Bridge; Jennifer LeBlanc Hebert and her husband, Russel Hebert of Abbeville; Jacob Adams and his wife, Jennifer Kern Adams of Franklin; Melvin Swancy Jr. and his wife, Kelson Swancy of Port Allen; and Jill Adams of Lafayette; 10 great grandchildren, Khory Vaughan, Dylan Vaughan, Trevor Adams, Sarah Biggs, Sadie Biggs, Julianna Lafitte, Carlie Adams, Aiden Swancy, Natalie Hebert and Nathan Swancy; and one great great granddaughter, Layla Vaughan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Brast; her parents; one sister, Erlinda Noote; one brother-in-law, Robert Noote; and one son-in-law, Herman Adams Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, January 18, at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m., and again Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Church of the Assumption from 10 a.m. until Mass time.

Pallbearers will be Trevor Adams, Aaron Hebert, Dylan Vaughan, Khory Vaughan, Melvin Swancy Jr. and Ray Stelly Jr.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

GLORIA BRASSEAUX

“Loving Mother & Grandmother”

Jeanerette — Funeral services will be conducted for Gloria Sanders Brasseaux, 79, on Tuesday August 4, 2009 at 11 a.m., at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. A. L. Lyle officiating. interment will be in Loisel Cemetery.

Visitation will begin Monday August 3, 2009 at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Visitation will resume August 4, 2009 at Calvary Pentecostal Church beginning at 8 a.m. until time of service.

A native of Port Arthur, Texas and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Brasseaux died on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in a Lafayette hospital. Her hobbies were sewing and puzzles.

She is survived by her daughters, Dianna Gauthier and her husband, John, of Franklin and Penny Lynn Romero of New Iberia; her son, Chris Brasseaux of Jeanerette; her brother, Donald Sanders of New Iberia; her sister, Billie Reeves of Vidor, Texas ; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Bonin Sanders; her sons, Ricky Brasseaux and Danny Brasseaux Sr.; her brother, Tom Sanders; and her sister, Lois Verret.

BRYIAN PHILLIPS JR.

June 25, 1981 – Jan, 21, 2011

Bryian Keith “Lil Bryian” Phillips Jr., 29, of Clovis, New Mexico died Friday, January 21, 2011 at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales, N.M.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. John’s Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Callahan officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Pallbearers will be James Walker, Jewel Walker, Jessie Walker, Marvin Walker, Curtis Walker, and Stanley Taylor . Military Honors will be provided by Cannon AFB Honor Guard.

Bryian was born June 25, 1981 to Bryian Keith and Caroline Ann (Walker) Phillips in Clovis. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Bryian was a Youth Advisor for Behavior Management Specialists. He was a member of New Light Baptist Church in Farwell. He enjoyed playing sports and video games. What he loved the most in his life was his children.

Survivors include his parents, Pastor Bryian and Caroline Phillips; three brothers, Tyrone K. Phillips, Christopher A. Phillips, and Derrick J. Phillips; two sons, Jaden Bryian Phillips and Daryian Sincere Phillips all of Clovis; a daughter, Kyrian Elizabeth Phillips of Lubbock, Texas ; grandparents, Thelma Phillips of Franklin, La., and Jesse (Ruthie) Walker of Clovis. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Phillips; and an uncle, David Walker.
