MRS. SYLVESTER PAYTON

Mrs. Sylvester H. Payton, 64, a resident of Franklin and native of Katy, died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at 3 p.m., at her residence following a short illness.

She is survived by one uncle, Joseph Lowe of Franklin; and a host of cousins.

Mrs. Payton was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitations will be observed Friday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin.

Burial rites will be read Friday, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. interment will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery in Franklin.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

KAREN C. PAYNE

June 7, 1960 ~ Dec. 3, 2010

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at 4 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary for Karen Corradini Payne, 50, a dedicated mother, who Passed away following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer Friday, December 03, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at her home surrounded by family. She was a native of Brooklyn, New York and a resident of Franklin. The Rev. Jimmy Tate will officiate the service.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Sadie Madison Payne of Franklin; her mother and stepfather, Barbara Chodorski Gonzalez and Pasquale Gonzalez of Fort Pierce, Florida; and two brothers, Philip Corradini of Savannah, Georgia and Kevin Corradini and his wife, Jamie, of West Palm Beach, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her father, Philip F. Corradini; and her grandparents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

Karl Patterson

Karl Patterson, 71, a native of Verdunville and a resident of New York, New York, died following a short illness Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 1 a.m. at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Patterson, of Washington , D.C.; two sons, Brent Patterson of Washington , D.C. and Wyndell Earl Eatmon of Birmingham, Ala.; one daughter, Myrtis Patterson of New York, New York; five brothers, Rev. Donnie (Rev. Idele) Fontonet and Hnery (Eliza) Fontonet, both of Verdunville; Rayfield Fontonet of Franklin, Harold Fontonet of Lafayette and Preston (Bernice) Fontonet of Toledo, Ohio.

Visitation will be held at Fitzgerald United Methodist Church in Verdunville, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral rights held at the church at 1 p.m. Saturday. interment fill follow at Little Zion cemetery.

The Jones Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

DARLENE PARKER

Darlene Parker, 47, a resident of Franklin and a native of New Orleans, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 1:04 p.m., at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 22 at Jones Funeral Home in Franklin, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Funeral will be held Saturday, October 23 at Israelite Divine Spiritual Church No. 2 in Four Corners, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Charenton.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Carl Wayne Parker Sr. of Franklin; three sons, Carl Wayne Parker Jr., De’Bon Parker and Jarvis Parker, all of Franklin; three daughters, Jack’lene Parker, Che’Kerra Parker and Khadijah Parker, all of Franklin; and one brother, Derek Monette of Kissimmee, Florida; five grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

OLIVER SMITH JR.

Oliver “Spark” Smith Jr., 86, a resident and native of Baldwin, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at his daughter’s home in New Orleans.

He is survived by four sons, Herbert Smith of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Frank Smith, Leo Smith and Johnell Smith, all of Baldwin; three daughters, Veronica S. Fabre of New Orleans, Doris Fleming of Atlanta, Georgia and Elizabeth Smith of Baldwin; one sister, Shirley S. Van Buren of Tacoma, Washington ; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Visitations will be observed Friday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Special Providence Baptist Church in Baldwin.

Burial rites will be read Friday, at 11 a.m., at that church, with the Rev. W.J. Otis officiating. interment will follow Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Baldwin.

Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

HENRY CARL OLDS

Henry Carl Olds, 68, a native of Flora and a resident of Patterson, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma.

Mr. Henry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay Naquin Olds of Patterson; his daughter, Jeanne’ Olds McCloy and her husband, Kerry McCloy, of Patterson; his son, Rory Olds and his wife, Heather Cain Olds, of Houma; one brother, Oscar Olan Olds and his wife, Susan Olds, of Oakland, California; two sisters, Hattie Olds Norris and her husband, Claude Norris, of Franklin and Ruby Olds Delaune and her husband, Roland Delaune, of Patterson; and five grandchildren, Ahlanna Olds, Liam McCloy, Madison, Cameron and Maren Olds.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Olds; his mother, Vira Poole Olds; his father-in-law, O’Neal Joseph “O.J.” Naquin; and his mother-in-law, Mabel Gautreau Naquin.

Mr. Henry was employed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries for St. Mary Parish and the lower St. Martin area as the Nuisance Alligator Control.

The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday, October 27, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Patterson.

A Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Henry will be held on Wednesday, October 27, at 1 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, with Father Angelo Cremaldi officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military honors will be rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.

Acting as pallbearers will be Derrick Hales, Kimbal Bonner, Michael Rhineholt, Russell Boudreaux III, Corey Blakesley and Harold “Johnny” Allemond Jr.

Acting as honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Henry’s two grandsons, Liam McCloy and Cameron Olds.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Patterson.

FRANK NOTTO JR.

SAVANNAH — Mr. Frank Notto Jr. entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Candler Hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m., at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, with Father Robert E. Chaney officiating. interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Notto was born in Manila, Philippines on December 25, 1947 to the late Mr. Frank and Mercedes Notto Sr., at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Frank attended Park Avenue High School in Franklin. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana College in Lafayette.

Frank joined the Catholic Church at an early age in Glencoe; there he met the love of his wife, Brenda Shavers Notto. They were married 37 years. From this union they were blessed with two beautiful sons. He moved to Savannah as a young man. He joined Saint Anthony Catholic Church (now Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church) shortly after moving to Savannah, Georgia.

Frank was employed by Savannah Sugar Refinery Incorporated (now Imperial Holly). Frank retired after 36 years of continuous service. He was a dependable and dedicated employee.

Frank was preceded in death by his loving parents; and two brothers, David and Wilfred Notto.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Brenda Shavers Notto; three sons, Fabian Notto (Stephanie) and Frank Notto III, both of Savannah; and Curtis Paul Chillis of Houston, TX; one daughter, Monique Harding (Bruce) of Arlington, TX; one brother, Larry Notto (Lessie) of Glencoe; a very devoted father-in-law, Dezzie A. Shavers Jr. of Savannah; aunt, Mary LeBlanc of New Orleans; two caring aunts, Elizabeth Milton (Joseph) and Savannah Bing of Jeanerette; two brothers-in-law, Dezzie Alonzo Shavers III (Judy) of Franklin and Neal Sweats of Jackson , La.; three sisters-in-law, Frances Polidor of New Iberia; Karen Morton (Alan) of Seoul, Korea; and Barbara Notto of Sioux City, IA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.

JOSEPH NAVERRO JR.

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Naverro Jr., 64, a resident of Morgan City and native of Patterson, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 9 a.m., at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph Naverro III of Berwick, Jonathan Conner of Houston, TX and Joshua Conner of Franklin; four daughters, Thomasina M. Augustine and husband, Charles, of Bayou Vista, Constance L. Naverro of Houma, Cloressa Druilhet and husband, Marlon, of Baldwin and Deshineda Conner of Franklin; four brothers, Arthur Dugas of Patterson, Nathan McPharson of Houston, Donald and Reginald McPharson of Thibodaux; five sisters, Ada Naverro of Thibodaux, Marie N. Lecompte, Geraldine and Livia McPharson of Lake Charles and Christena Valentine of Morgan City; 21 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Mr. Naverro was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Visitations were observed Monday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Syracusa Civic Center in Syracusaville.

Burial rites were read Monday, at 11 a.m., at the center, with Bishop Jack Lewis officiating. interment followed in the Morgan City Cemetery.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin was in charge of preparations.

Willie Narcisse jr.

Willie Narcisse Jr., 48, a native and resident of Baldwin, died Sunday, Oct., 31, 2010 at 10:26 p.m. at Lafayette Medical Center after a short illness.

Visitation will be observed at Otis Mortuary Chapel in Franklin Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with burial rites read at the chapel at noon. interment will be in the St. John Cemetery of Charenton.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Willie Narcisse Sr., of Baldwin; three daughters, Sandrike Narcisse of Franklin, Serenity Narcisse of Lafayettte and Kadesha Minor of Lake Charles; four brothers, Kevin Narcisse of Lafayette, Bobby Phillips of Wyoming, Bobby Narcisse and Shelby Narcisse of Houston; four sisters, Linda Gauthier of Franklin, Geraldine Hawkins of Four Corners, Mona Gilton of Lafayette and Lakeysha Jackson of Houston. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

ROSALIE MOORE

Rosalie “Mama Rose” Moore, 80, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Friday, September 11, 2009, at 12:20 a.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City following a long illness.

Visitation will be at the Church of Christ on Railroad Avenue Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Rosalie leaves to cherish her memories three sons, John (Reuan) Moore Jr. of Amarillo, Texas , Ashley Moore of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Ricky (Robin) Moore of Morgan City; three daughters, Josephine Martin of Houma, Letitia Fabyan of Dallas, Texas and Corliss Moore of Franklin; a sister, Joyce Camece of New Orleans; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, a sister and two brothers.

Jones Funeral Home of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
