DANIEL BURGESS JR.

Daniel Burgess Jr., 75, a resident of New Iberia and native of Verdunville, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 12:15 p.m., at Iberia Medical Center, following a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Burgess of New Iberia; three sons, Kimball Burgess, Harry Burgess and Keith Burgess, all of New Iberia; three daughters, Gisele Burgess, Darlene Tauriac and Danette Mandeville, all of New Iberia; three brothers, Herman Burgess of California, Willie Burgess of Bayou Vista and Juanover Burgess of Verdunville; four sisters, Ann Copeland of Bayou Vista, Zelda Valteau of Patterson, Bernadette and Paulette Burgess, both of Verdunville; 20 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Visitations will be observed Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Centerville.

Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church. The Rev. Thomas Vu will officiate. interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

The Jones Funeral Home of Franklin is in charge of arrangements.

WARREN BUTLER JR.

Warren Butler Jr., 53, a resident of Port Arthur, Texas and native of Patterson, died suddenly Friday, July 18, 2003, in Port Arthur.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Butler of Port Arthur; parents, Mrs. James Etta Butler of Patterson and Warren Butler Sr. of Port Arthur; five sons, Warren Butler III, Gregory Butler, Dion Cage, all of Patterson, Corey Smith and Derrick Butler of Port Arthur; four daughters, Iris Antoinetta Butler, Felicia Williams, both of Port Arthur, Carolyn Rambo of Houston, Texas and Mireyea Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Mary Etta Johnson of Houston; two aunts, Lizzie M. Cooper of Sacramento, California and Annie Augustine of Patterson; and 15 grandchildren.

Visitations will be observed Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at New Salem Baptist Church.

Burial rites will be read Friday, at 1 p.m., at that church. The Rev. Calhoun will officiate. Lafayette Crematory will handle the interment.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

WALTER BUTLER

Mr. Walter Butler, 79, a resident of Patterson and native of Berwick, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at 2:10 p.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, following a short illness.

He is survived by his formal wife, Shirley Moton Williams of Patterson; one stepson, Reginald Augman of Patterson; one daughter, Regina Butler James of Patterson; one stepdaughter, Renita Garrison of Patterson; one brother, Leroy Butler of Patterson; one sister, Dorothy Butler McGuire of Patterson; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one step grandson.

Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Visitations will be observed Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Little Zion Baptist Church in Berwick.

Burial rites will be read Tuesday, at 2 p.m., at that church. The Rev. W.J. Otis will officiate. interment will follow in the Patterson Memorial Cemetery.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.

JANET CARTER

Miss Janet Carter, 34, a resident of New Orleans and native of Charenton, died suddenly Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at 4:40 a.m., at By Water Hospital in New Orleans.

She is survived by a very dear friend, David Babino; her mother, Elmer White Carter of Charenton; one son, Devonte Carter of Charenton; three brothers, Robert Carter of Houston, Texas , Burney Carter of Patterson and Kevin Carter of Franklin; and two sisters, Judy Carter Cuffee of Baldwin and Alida Carter Weston of Franklin.

Miss Carter was preceded in death by her father, one sister and one brother.

Visitations will be observed Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Otis Mortuary Chapel, and also from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the St. John Baptist Church in Charenton.

Burial rites will be read Friday, at 8 p.m., at St. John Baptist Church. The Rev. Ivory Williams Sr. will officiate.

interment will be Saturday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., at the St. John Cemetery in Charenton.

ROY CHARLES SR.

Mr. Roy Charles Sr., 66, a resident and native of Four Corners, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at 4:52 a.m., at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia, following a short illness.

He is survived by three sons, Roy Charles Jr. of Four Corners and Robert and Jeffery Narcisse of Baldwin; four daughters, Loria C. Jones and Darlene Charles of Four Corners, Irma Tardy of Jeanerette and Floria Paul of Port Arthur, Texas ; five brothers, Edward Charles of Chicago, Illinois, Leonard Charles of Dallas, Texas , Joseph Charles, Roland Charles and King Charles Sr. of Four Corners; six sisters, Verna Jennings of Chicago, Delores Coleman, Doretha Turner and Ellen Lewis of Houston, Texas , Martha Charles and Evelyn Simpson of Four Corners; 17 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.

Visitations will be observed Friday, Dec. 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Ashton.

Burial rites will be Friday, at 7 p.m., at that church.

interment will be Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m., in the Macedonia Cemetery in Ashton.

ALZINA CHARLES

Alzina Charles, 62, a resident of Morgan City and native of Maurice, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at 8 a.m., at the Morgan City Health Care, following a long illness.

She is survived by her husband, Sammy Charles of Morgan City; two daughters, Sondra A. Charles of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Caullette of Morgan City; three brothers, Edward Guidry and Mervin Guidry of California and Nolan Guidry of Lafayette; four sisters, Selena Morgan of Lafayette, Anita (Irvin) Celestine of Riverside, California, Christine (Charles) Barber of Albany, N.Y. and Alberta Whitehead of Carencro; and four grandchildren.

Visitations will be observed Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City.

Funeral rites will be Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at that church. interment will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

The Jones Funeral Home, Inc. of Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

JOHN P. CLARK

Mr. John P. Clark, 94, a resident of Berwick and native of Fairview, La., died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at 9:27 p.m., at the Patterson Health Care Center, following a short illness.

He is survived by five sons, John M. Clark, George L. Clark and Lawrence Clark of Berwick, Clarence Donald Clark of Amelia and James L. Clark of Houma; five daughters, Vera C. Black, Carol C. Williams, Florance C. Harris and Virginia C. Johnson of Berwick and Glenda C. Stackhouse of Patterson; one sister, Ruth Griffin of Tucson, Arizona; 31 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.

Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, two daughters, two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Visitations will be observed Friday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Saint John Baptist Church in Berwick.

Burial rites will be read Friday, at 1 p.m., at that church. The Rev. Louis Clark will officiate. interment will follow in the Berwick Cemetery.

BYRA B. CLAUSEN

Byra Boudreaux Clausen, 37, a native of Franklin and lifelong resident of Patterson, died Tues-day, March 1. 2005, at 5:08 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Sunday at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a rosary service at 7 p.m. The mortuary will reopen Monday at 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. Monsignor Richard Greene will officiate the Mass. interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Everette J. Boudreaux, Mark Kliemann Jr., Byron J. Boudreaux Jr., Donald C. Boudreaux Jr., Eddie C. Clausen and Bryan Roy Sr. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert C. Carline Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Glen James Clausen of Patterson; her mother, Daisy Jones Boudreaux of Patterson; two brothers, Byron James Boudreaux Jr. of Morgan City and Everette J. Boudreaux of Patterson; two sisters, Joann B. Kliemann of New Orleans and Margaret B. Reynolds of Fort Lewis, Washington ; her maternal grandfather, Jack Jones Sr. of Patterson; three nieces, four nephews, one grand nephew and several aunts and uncles.

Mrs. Clausen was preceded in death by her father, Byron James Boudreaux Sr.; one sister, Rebecca B. Carline; her maternal grandmother, Margaret P. Jones; and her paternal grandparents, Everette J. Boudreaux Sr. and Irene A. Boudreaux.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Patterson.

BIRDIE L. COKER

Birdie L. Coker, 70, a native of Steele, Alabama and a resident of Franklin, died Thursday, October 28, 2004, at 7:05 a.m., at the Franklin Foundation Hospital.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Monday, Nov. 1, at Ibert’s Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral services will begin on Monday at Ibert's Mortuary at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Mark Gaudin officiating. interment will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery.

Ms. Coker is survived by her sister, Rosie Miller and her husband, Dennis, both of Dexter, Kentucky; one niece, Denise Tate of Chicago, Illinois; and one nephew, Dennis Miller of Austin, Texas .

She was preceded in death by her father, William J. Coker and her mother, Ada Idella Battles Coker.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.
