A homemaker and resident of Pierre Part, she died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, in Iberville Parish. She was 65and a native of Brusly St. Martin. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part, from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Pierre Part, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment in the church mausoleum. Survived by her two daughters, Priscilla Mabile and Pamela Hernandez, both of Pierre Part; two sons, Ricky Allemond of Belle River and Richard Allemond Sr. of Pierre Part; two sisters, Elvina Cedotal of Pierre Part and Delta Short of Brusly St. Martin; three brothers, Albert Bourg of Brusly St. Martin and Atlas Bourg and Davis Bourg, both of Paincourtville; and eight grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Eric Allemond Sr.; a son, Eric Allemond Jr.; and parents, Dupre and Priscilla Sanchez Bourg.

RODRIGUE, ALMA BLANCHARD
A retired teacher's aide with the Assumption Parish School Board and a resident and native of Bayou Crab, she died at 3:48 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003. She was 79, born on July 14, 1924. Visiting at Landry's Funeral Home, Labadieville, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Labadieville, at 1 p.m. Monday. interment in the church cemetery. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry J. and Karen S. Rodrigue; daughters and sons-in-law, Ida Ann and Merrick Hidalgo, Karen and William Parker and Cheryl A. Rodrigue; brother, Bonnie Edward Blanchard; four grandchildren, Craig Rodrigue, Renee Schofield, Daniel Hidalgo and Jason L. Hidalgo; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Lorris Joseph Rodrigue; parents, Jules and Blanche Percle Blanchard; daughter, Sharon Ann Rodrigue; and sisters, Bertha B. Schillaci and Estella B. Templet.

GILFOU, HERMAN GEORGE
A retired construction worker with J. Roy McDermott having worked from 1965 until retirement in 1984 and a resident ofPierre Part, he died at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, in Napoleonville. He was 79 and a native of Brusly-St. Martin. He was a U.S. veteran of World War II. Visiting was at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part, from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Clarence Waguespack. interment in church cemetery. Survived by wife of 37 years, Elodie Aucoin Gilfou, Pierre Part; four children and a number of grandchildren from his previous marriage; a stepson, Joseph Chares Dupre, Pierre Part; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Dupre, Pierre Part; a sister, Palace Blanchard, Donaldsonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Fallmon and Ella Gilfou, Donaldsonville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Hunter Joseph Dupre and Chrisy and Brooke Campo and Joey Campo; and two great-grandchildren, Lexi Dupre and Dylan Campo. Preceded in death by parents, Edward and Lillian Landry Gilfou; and two stepsons, Darrell James Dupre and Daniel J. Dupre. Pallbearers will be Hunter Dupre, Joey Campo, Joseph Dupre, Roy Hebert, Hubert Cavalier and Julius Aucoin.

Laurence Martin
Laurence “Laurie” Ann Martin, 64, a resident of Napoleonville, died at 3:40 a.m. Nov. 4, 2003. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at St. John Episcopal Church cemetery in Thibodaux. She is survived by her niece, Ellen M. Martin; nephew and his wife, Robert C. IV and Lori Martin; and sister-in-law, Diane Theriot Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. and Elsie R. Martin; and brother, Robert “Bob” Martin Jr., all of Albemarie Plantation. She received the Mother Seton award in 2002 for her hours of work at the St. Philomena School library, where she volunteered for 13 years. She also worked for the Assumption Parish School Board and the Assumption Parish Library. She was a parishoner of St. Philomena Catholic Church. Donations to the St. Philomena School memorial fund, 118 Convent St., Labadieville, La., 70372 are preferred.

Effie Gauthreaux
Effie H. Gauthreaux, 88, a native and resident of Labadieville, died at 12:10 p.m. Nov. 3, 2003. Visitation will be from 8:30 to noon Wednesday at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert “Bobby” and Jean Fremin Gauthreaux; grandchildren, Stephanie Gauthreaux Uzee, Shane and Chad Gauthreaux; and great-grandchildren, Brennan and Colin Uzee, Caroline and Grant Gauthreaux. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Gauthreaux; parents, Rudolph and Evalia Gros Himel; brother, George Himel; and sister, Agatha Crochet. She was a parishioner of St. Philomena Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. Samart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Malcolm A. Guidry

His love will live on in our hearts forever

Funeral services for Malcolm Anthony "Wine" Guidry, 55, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Katherine M. Chachere officiating. interment will be in St. Edward Catholic Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday.

Visitation will be today from 4-10 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home chapel, which will reopen Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Mr. Guidry was born on Aug. 12, 1947, and was a lifelong resident of New Iberia until 1995 when he moved to Galveston, Texas , to be with his very devoted sister, Gladys Bernard. While at Bayshore Medical Center he was called to be with the angel to take the rest that he deserves to never be afflicted again on Sunday, April 13, 2003.

He was the seventh child of nine and was a very devoted brother, uncle and godfather, one who always had his family first and who saw to it that his nieces and nephews were given the best that he could provide for them in loving care.

He leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Willie Rhoades Jr. of New Iberia, and Thomas Daniels Sr. and his wife, Elise, of Galveston, Texas ; two sisters, Rev. Katherine M. Chachere (George) of Diboll, Texas , and Gladys Bernard (Charles Jr.) of Galveston, Texas ; his adopted sister, Catherine "Tiney Boo" Bennett (Rev. Anthony) of Galveston, Texas ; his uncle, Edmond Daniels of Sacramento, Calif.; his aunt, Bernice Daniels of New Orleans; nine nieces, seven nephews, 10 great nieces, 14 great nephews, one great-great-niece, a very special friend, Yvonne Johnson of New Iberia, and a host of cousins and friends.

Mr. Guidry was preceded in death by his parents, Roual Guidry and Elizabeth G. "Nookie" Lewis of Lafayette; three brothers and his maternal grandparents.

Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family.

A special thanks to Dr. Warren, Dr. Isliam and the Gold Team at University of Texas Medical Branch, Bayshore Medical Center, Southfield Nursing Facility and all of the doctors that cared for him in his days of living.

E.R. Johnson Family Mortuary of Galveston, Texas , and Fletcher Funeral Home of New Iberia are in charge of arrangements.

Cezaire J. Bonin

ST. MARTINVILLE - Funeral services for Cezaire Joseph Bonin, 85, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church with the Rev. Austin Leger officiating. interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4-10 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of St. Martin Parish and resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Bonin died at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in St. Martinville.

He is survived by three sons, Marcel "Boz' Bonin and his wife, Dot, Ronald "T Ron" Bonin and his wife, Lou, and Edwin "T Ed" Bonin and his wife, Glenda, all of St. Martinville; his daughter, Vickie "Poopae" Prados and her husband, Bobby, of St. Martinville; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bonin was preceded in death by his wife, Yolande Latiolais Bonin; his parents, Edwin and Olinda Bonin; two infant daughters, Peggy Sue and Barbara Jean; and one brother.

Pallbearers will be Marcel "Boz," Ronald "T Ron," Curt Bonin, BJ and Bobby Prados, and Brandon Bernis.

Edward "T Ed" will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.

Hazel T. Deshotels

MAMOU - Funeral services for Hazel Tate Deshotels, 88, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bob Courville officiating. Entombment will be in the new church mausoleum.

Visitation will be today from 2:30-10 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Ardoin Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A native of Mamou born on Aug. 2, 1914, and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Deshotels died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Azalea Nursing Villa following a brief illness.

Mrs. Deshotels was a retired clerk.

She is survived by two sons, Millard Deshotels Jr. and his wife, Floretta, and Lear Deshotels and his wife, Belle, all of Mamou; his daughter, Norma Dupre and her husband, Gil, of New Iberia; her sister, Lou Anna Vezinat of Jefferson ; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Deshotels was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Deshotels Sr.; her grandson, Blaine Deshotels; four brothers, Marshall, Simon, Jack and J.C. Tate; and three sisters, Pauline Shuff, Hilda Deshotels and Willa Dean Morien.

Ardoin Funeral Home of Mamou is in charge of arrangements.

Ervin W. Brown

JEANERETTE - Funeral services for Ervin Wiley Brown, 85, will begin at 1 p.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Zolecki, Jr. officiating.

interment will be in the Beau Pre Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home until the time of services.

A native of Nicut, Okla. and resident of Jeanerette Mr. Brown died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Iberia Medical Center.

He was employed at Ashland Chemical Co. for 27 years and a member of Local 458.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille Davis Brown of Jeanerette; two daughters, Wanda Brown McKenzie and Shirley Crisman and her husband Raymond Crisman of Jeanerette; three brothers, Truman Brown of VanBuren, Ark., Noah Brown of Kingman, Ariz., and Jim Brown of Oklahoma ; two sisters, Flossie Omo of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Phyliss Hendrix of Stilwell, Okla.; two grandsons, Ervin Wayne and Michael McKenzie of Jeanerette; one granddaughter, Michelle Crisman Naquin, of New Iberia and two great-granddaughters, Danielle Koshak of Jeanerette and Daelyn Naquin of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Mattie Bachlor Brown; one son; E.W. Brown; one daughter, Betty Jean Brown; one son-in-law, E.C. McKenzie; one grandson, David "Randy" McKenzie; four brothers, Tom, George, Lim and John Brown and one sister, Laura B. Holman.

Pallbearers will be Ervin Wayne and Michael McKenzie, Ricky Lancon Sr., Timothy Lancon, Freddie Migues and Carl Stages.

The Evangeline Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Michael R. Charles Jr

JEANERETTE - Funeral services for Michael Ray Charles, Jr., 13, will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of God in Christ with the Rev. James W. Proctor officiating.

interment will be in the Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of services.

A lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Michael died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge, following a brief illness due to an accident.

He was a graduate of Jeanerette Elementary School with many friends who enjoyed outdoor sports and a member of First Church of God in Christ Youth organizations.

Michael is survived by his parents, Carol Ann Phillip Narcisse, and Michael Ray Charles, Sr. both of Jeanerette; one brother, Kerry Lynn Butts, Jr. of Jeanerette; one special sister, Tyzhane' Ashante' Stansbury of Jeanerette and one step sister, Sherimara Charles of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lillie Mae Chenet and Lawrence Chenet Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Hilda Mae Chenet Phillips and Leroy Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Brooks, Kerry Butts Sr., Joe Youman, Renny Keal, Benny Brown Sr. and Regianld Marks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Berwick Rhine Jr., Matthew Baldwin Sr., Johnathan Charles, Kevin Tauriac, Earl Sparrow, Lawrence Phillips, Nathaniel and Emanuel Butts.

The Alex Lovett Funeral Services, Inc. of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.

Alice A. Greig

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services were held May 26, 2003, at St. Martin De Tours Catholic Church for Alice Ann Greig, interment was in the St. Michael Cemetery.

Born Jan. 22, 1907 Ms. Greig died May 23, 2003.

She is survived by one sister, Lillie Mae Greig Stovall, her nieces, JoAnne Barras Broussard, Edwinna Barras Eisenstien, Jeanette Barras Horn, Inez Barras Banta, Roslyn Moers, Marilyn Taylor , Edmae "Mae" Greig, Etta Greig Lassaigne and Linda Stovall Rideout; her nephews, John Raymond, Kenneth, Eddy F. and Errol F. Greig Sr., Denton Moers Jr., Albert Greig Moers, Gerard and John Moers and many great nieces and nephews.

Ms. Greig was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Charles and Marie Aurelie Maraist Greig; her sisters, Inez Greig Barras, Sylvia Greig and Hilda Greig Moers; her brothers, Elmo F. and Raymond Greig and her nephew, Gilford Albert Stovell.
