Mary S. LeBlanc

Services for Mrs. John LeBlanc , 67, the former Mary "Pokey" Segura, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Broussard officiating. interment will be in Broussard Cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse.

Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. today at David Funeral Home Swan Chapel with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday.

A native and resident of Iberia Parish, Mrs. LeBlanc died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mrs. LeBlanc was a housewife. She enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, sewing and painting.

She is survived by her husband, John LeBlanc of New Iberia; three sons, Wallace "Blackie" Gary and his wife, Faith Gary, of Kaplan, and Michael Gary and Wilfred "T-Boy" Gary Sr. and his wife, Lynette Gary, all of New Iberia; two daughters, Darlene Owens and her husband, Steve, of Jeanerette and Suzanne Romero and her husband, Paul, of New Iberia; four brothers, Willis, Lester and Wayne Segura, all of New Iberia, and Milton Segura of Thibodaux; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. LeBlanc was preceded in death by her parents, Wiltz and Marie Migues Segura; and her son, William John Gary.

Pallbearers will be Steve Owens Jr., William Owens, Nicholas Gary, Wilfred Gary Jr., Corey Romero and Robert Segura.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace "Blackie" Gary, Michael Gary, Wilfred "T-Boy" Gary, Steve Owens Sr. and Paul Romero.

David Funeral Home Swan, Iberia Street in New Iberia, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane St. Julian

Funeral services for Mary Jane St. Julian, 55, the former Mary Jane Alexander, will be held at 8 p.m . Wednesday at Fletcher Funerla Home with the Rev. Shawn Watson officiating. interment will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. until the time of dismissal at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. St. Julian died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, at her residence following a brief illness.

Mrs. St. Julian is survived by her dear and devoted friend, James Boutte of New Iberia; her son, Ricky Lynn Montgomery of Houston; two daughters, Genieve Peaches Alexander , all of New Iberia and Paula Marie John of Dallas; her brother, Leo Alexander Sr. of Houston; three sisters, Charlotte Sampson, Theresa Jackson and Bernice Porter, all of Houston; seven granchildren, Ebonie Shantell, La'Porsche She'Neal and Tri'Michael Ryan Alexander, all of New Iberia, Alexia V. Montgomery, and Michael Jr., Joshua and Michael III William, all of Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Joseph Alexander Sr. and Georgia Mae Soloman Alexander; her son, Michael Steven William; three brothers, Sidney, Willie Jr. and Walter Joe Alexander; and three sisters, Anna and Georgia Mae Alexander and Margaret Johnson .

Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian C. Hansley

POQUONNOCK BRIDGE, Conn. - Lillian Elizabeth Cate Hansley "Babe", 84, of Loreauville died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 27, 2003, at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia after a brief illness. She was surrounded by family.

Lillian "Babe" Cate was born July 26, 1919, in New London, Conn., to Lillian Elizabeth Miles Cate of New York and Earl Raymond Cate Sr. of New Hampshire.

She graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in 1938, and Connecticut State College in equestrian studies.

Lillian's life was filled with accomplishments and she lived her life with a pioneering spirit. She danced on Broadway as a child, taught dancing, and choreographed dance for the June Taylor Dancers. She won state championship s in seven different states for Drum Majorette and Baton Twirling. Her 1937 seven championship record stands to this day.

A woman ahead of her time, "Babe" was a licensed airplane pilot in an era when there were few women aviators. Lillian and her family survived a plane crash in 1955. Piloted by her husband, John Hansley of Groton, Conn., Lillian, John and their daughter, Colleen, crashed their private plane in Massapequa, Long Island.

Mrs. Hansley worked for General Dynamics - Electric Boat Company and was one of the first contributors to the Social Security system. Lillian Hansley was a U.S. Navy wife during WWII, and was involved in many Navy family activities. Her husband John served on the submarine W.S.S. Barb, which is the only submarine in history to have destroyed a train, and recorded the most tonnage destroyed during WWII.

Lillian was a member of The Order of Eastern Star for 51 years, a member of the Civil Air Patrol after WWII belonged to the American Legion Auxillary, and was involved with many other civic, church, and political organizations. Lillian was a member of the Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church. She helped to establish the Coast Guard Cantina in Groton, Eastern Point. She loved horses and owned a horse farm and stable in Ledyard, Conn. and was involved in many equestrian events with her daughter Midge.

In her later years, Lillian enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and watching sports, but her favorite activity was time spent with her family. She will be remembered for embracing life and living it to the fullest, a quick wit, and her laughter. She taught her family that their love for one another would get them through the toughest times. Her love and friendship will be missed by all that knew her.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Earl Cate Sr.; her brother, Earl R. Cate Jr., her husband, John C. Hansley; her son, John G. Hansley; and her daughter, Georgianna Allen.

Lillian is survived by her daughters, Colleen H. Temple of Loreauville and Madeleine H. Finlay of Cottageville, S.C.; her sister, Dorothy Starkey of Stuart, Fla.; her grandchildren, Kim Dieudonne', Cate, Casey and Lucas Plauche', and Michael Barnhill of Loreauville, Stephanie Hightower, Jamie and Crystal Harris of Summerville, S.C., Trey Duplechain of New Iberia, Sean Allen and Laura Jean Hansley of Fla.; and her great-grandchildren, Desiree' Reynolds of Loreauville, Tyler, Manny, Andrew and Caitlyn Alcantara of Summerville, S.C.

Although she resided in Louisiana for more than 20 years, her heart remained in New England.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in her beloved Poquonnock Bridge, Conn.

The services are under the direction of David Funeral Home North, Trotter Street.

Brad C. Berard

LOREAUVILLE - Funeral services for Brad Charles Berard, 24, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jude Halphen. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at David Funeral Home, which will repoen at 8 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Loreauville, Mr. Berard died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Berard had been an employee at Berard, Hebetz and Associates as a senior designer for five years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved carving and painting wooden decoys and his own personal bass baits. He enjoyed duck and squirrel hunting and bass fishing. He had a very talented and creative mind. He built and flew model airplanes. He lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a loyal and devoted friend to many. He shared much of his life with his younger brother, Brennon "Chief" Berard. He always had a smile. We will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his father, Charlie A. Berard of Loreauville; his mother, Lisa Viator Berard of New Iberia; his sister, Brooke Elizabeth Berard of Loreauville; his brother, Brennon "Chief" Berard of Loreauville; his paternal grandparents, Lloyd A. Berard and Nita Bourque Berard of Loreauville; his maternal grandparents, J.C. and Mary Anne Broussard Viator of Loreauville; and his maternal great-grandmother, Rose Hebert Viator of New Iberia.

Mr. Berard was preceded in death by his cousin, Amy Suzanne Latiolais; his uncle, Jody Charles Viator; his great uncle, Sully "Nonk" Berard Sr.; his paternal great-grandfather, Charles Fernest Berard; his paternal great-grandmother, Felicie LeBlanc Berard; his maternal great-grandfather, Adias Viator; his maternal great-grandparents, Loto and Lona Broussard; and his paternal great-grandparents, Luka and Suzanne Bourque.

Pallbearers will be Ryan LaGrange, Jerad Moity, Brandon Hebert, Jonathon Landry, Daniel Horton and Brad Clifton.

David Fuenral Home of Loreauville is in charge of arrangements.

Nicholas J. Falterman

Funeral services for Nicholas J. Falterman, 14, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven LeBlanc officiating. Entombment will be in Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 5-10 p.m. today, Sept. 29, 2003, with a 7 p.m. wake service, at the church, which will reopen at 8 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday.

A native and a resident of New Iberia, Nicholas died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003,

at his residence.

Nicholas was a freshman at Catholic High School and a member of the Catholic High Freshman Football Team. He was an honor student and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.

He is survived by his father, Dr. James B. Falterman Jr.; his mother, Leesa Billodeau Falterman; his step-mother, Cindy Lanza Falterman; his brother, James B. Falterman III; his three sisters, Kathryn Ann, Corinne Ann, and Brittan MarieFalterman, all of New Iberia; his grandparents, Dr. James B. Falterman and Lorayne Walker Falterman, and Dewey David Billodeau and Josie Bacala Billodeau, all of Jeanerette; his step-grandmother, Dolores B. Lanza of New Iberia; his beloved Bruce and Annabelle Williams of Jeanerette; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be David, Charles, and Stephen Falterman, Samuel Viator, David Billodeau, and Benjamin Gonsoulin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew and Josh Sonnier, John and Thomas Falterman, Dr. W. Perry Stokes, Dr. William Harkrider, Dr. James Walker, Dr. Larry Nelson, Kevin Bacala, Simon Gonsoulin, and Karl Viator.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's School in Jeanerette and the Catholic High Athletic program in New Iberia.

James J. Hebert

Funeral services for James Julian Hebert, 91, are pending.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert died at 1:40 a.m. today, Sept. 26, 2003, at Iberia Medical Center.

Evangeline Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William R. Collins

Funeral services for William Robert Collins, 70, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Evangeline Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Horn, Pastor of Highland Baptist Church officiating. interment will be in Holy Family Mausolem.

Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today, Sept. 26, 2003, at Evangeline Funeral Home which will reopen at 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday.

Mr. Collins died at 12:05 a.m. Thursday Sept. 25, 2003, at Dauterive Hospital.

Mr. Collins was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of USL and also LSU Law School in 1969. He was a Criminal and Civil Attorney for 34 years and a member of the LA State Bar Association and the Iberia Parish Bar Association.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carrie David Collins of New Iberia; three sons, Lowell Patrick Collins of Youngsville, Kempton James and Reed Edward Collins of New Iberia; one daughter, Melissa Claire Collins Johnson of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Lauren Alexis Johnson , William R. II, Rosemary Catherine, Grant Oliver and Reese Patrick Collins; and one sister, Joy Lynn Collins Hebert of Houma.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Lindle "Rip" and Irene Nelson Collins; and his sister, LaNell Collins Wiley.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Artell, Jimmy David, Daniel Dworaczyk, Ralph "Bud" Lee, David McCroskey and Marvin Wellbrock.

Donations may be made in Mr. Collins' name to Catholic High Memorial Fund, 1301 delaSalle Drive, New Iberia, 70560.
