Larry C. Gonsoulin

LAFAYETTE - Services for Larry C. Gonsoulin, 78, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Martin and Casitlle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Schexnayder officiating. interment will be in the Fountain Memorial Gardens. A military ritual will be conducted by members of the VFW Post No. 9822 of Judice.

Lisa Roy, organist, will sing "Amazing Grace," "The Lord's Prayer," "I Am The Bread of Life" and "On Eagle's Wings."

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A native of Jeanerette and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Gonsoulin died at 1:35 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at his residence.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II as an infantry combat officer in the Battle of the Bulge in the European Theatre of Operations with the Rainbow Division. Mr. Gonsoulin was honorably discharged with the rank of major. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Community, an active member of S.C.O.R.E., where he volunteered many years of service, an active golfer and a member of the Vieaux Chene Golf Club.

Mr. Gonsoulin is survived by his wife, Gwen Hock Gonsoulin of Lafayette; three stepsons, Gerard Pontiff, Donald Pontiff and Ray Pontiff, all of Franklin; two adopted daughters, Lisa King of New Jersey and Denise Costello of Houston; two stepdaughters, Monica LeBlanc and Michelle Pontiff, both of Lafayette; one sister, Ethelyn Wall of Metairie; and 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Gonsoulin of Jeanerette and Florence Bourgeois of Plaquemine; one brother, S.J. Gonsoulin of Jeanerette; and one sister, Audrey Guzzino of Patterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, P.O. Box 3467, Lafayette, La. 70502.

Martin and Castille Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.

Wilmer A. Borel

ORANGE, Texas - Services for Wilmer A. (Will) Borel, 71, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Fracis X. Conroy officiating. interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel until the time of services Saturday.

A native of St. Martinville and resident of Orange, former resident of Port Arthur, Texas , and Lawrence, Kan., Mr. Borel died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Vencor Hospital in Houston.

He was a retired engineer and technical adviser for Dupont Sabine River Works and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Borel was a member and former officer of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Borel of Orange; two sons, Greg Borel of The Woodlands, Texas , and Paul Borel of Coppell, Texas ; three daughters, Denise Borel of Plano, Texas , Renee' Coughlin and Michele Karasik, both of Orange; one stepdaughter, Pamela Sumrall of Orange; four brothers, Alton Borel and Jacque Borel, both of Port Arthur, Melvin Borel of Los Catos, Calif., and Vernon Borel of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Jeanette Linthicum of Port Arthur; and nine grandchildren.

The Claybar Funeral Home, Inc. of Orange, Texas , is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine Joseph

Services for Geraldine Joseph, 56, the former Geraldine Lewis will begin at 8 p.m. today at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Cyrus Jackson officiating. interment will be in the St. Matthew Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home, which will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Joseph died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital following a brief illness.

She was a member of Star Pilgrim Baptist Church and a member of Star Pilgrim Usher Board.

Mrs. Joseph is survived by her husband, Leroy Joseph Sr. of New Iberia; her mother, Eunice Lewis of New Iberia; two sons, Leroy Joseph Sr. and Quincy Joseph, both of New Iberia; two daughters, Kim Provost and Shelia Anderson, both of New Iberia; one son-in-law, Keith Provost of New Iberia; one daughter-in-law, Stacy Joseph of New Iberia; two brothers, Jimmy Lewis of New Iberia and James Lewis of Erath; five sisters, Lucy Mae Carter, Eqursia "Sis-Sis" Davis, Ethel Lee Alexander, Jo Ann Sophus and Lilly Mae William, all of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sanford Lewis; her mother, Louvinia Babineaux; and one son, Karl Patrick Joseph.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Sophus, Donald Sophus, Walter Broussard, Hassan Hypolite, Earl Jackson Jr. and Caffery Levine.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mose Gaddison, Alvin Gaddison, Chris Carter, Wayne Sophus, James Gaddison, Minister Darren Sophus and Robert Paul.

The Journet and Bolden Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.

Anna V. Fisher

Services for Anna Vedrines Fisher, 72, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evangeline Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert J. Boumans officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary, at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.

A native of Coleman County, Texas , and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Fisher died at 6:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, in a local hospital.

She is survived by two sons, Chris J. Vedrines and Gregory Tiffin Vedrines, both of New Iberia; and two grandchildren, Allison Ray Vedrines and Hannah Lynn Vedrines, both of New Iberia.

Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by the family's beloved Borgia Ray; her parents, Willie and Avery Campbell Autin; one son, Timothy Ray Vedrines; one brother, James Autin; and one sister, Melba Autin Meyers.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Adella T. Duplantis

DELCAMBRE - Services for Mrs. Ledier Duplantis, 79, the former Adella Touchet, will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Rev. Herb Benefiel officiating. interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon today and will continue until the time of services Tuesday with a 7 p.m. rosary today at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will remain open all night.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Duplantis died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, at a Lafayette hospital.

She is survived by six sons, Jimmy Duplantis, and his wife, Miriam, Earl Duplantis, and his wife, Sandy, and Michael and Marshall Duplantis, all of Delcambre, and Huey Duplantis, and his wife, Dolores, and Ernest Duplantis, and his wife, Peggy, all of New Iberia; five daughters, Patsy Duplantis, Nancy Bourque, and her husband, Louis, and Bonnie and Gloria Duplantis, all of Delcambre, and Audrey Duplantis of Intracoastal City; two sisters, Rose Mae Sanders of Erath, and Adelta Bourque of New Iberia; 46 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Duplantis was preceded in death by her husband, Ledier Duplantis; her parents, Rosamond and Dortha Dore Touchet; two brothers, Edharus and Ezeb Touchet; and two sisters, Rosita Touchet and Mary Primeaux.

Pallbearers will be Louis Bourque Jr., and Kendall, Jim, Jessie, Anthony and Michael Duplantis Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick and Winter Sonnier, Johnny Duplantis, Garland Gary Jr. and Joe Medina.

Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre is in charge of arrangements.

Rita T. Babineaux

Services for Mrs. Harry Joseph Babineaux, 76, the former Rita Trahan will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. J. Wilson Matt officiating. interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.

A native of Jefferson Island and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Babineaux died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, at her residence.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she taught catechism for several years and was a member of the St. Anne's Altar Society.

Mrs. Babineaux is survived by her husband, Harry Joseph Babineaux of New Iberia; one son, Elverse J. Babineaux Sr., and daughter-in-law, Patsy Louviere Babineaux of New Iberia; four daughters, Elaine B. Sonnier, Mrs. Isaac (Earline) Migues, Mrs. Claude (Margaret) Gonsoulin and Mrs. Allen (Gayle) Prados, all of New Iberia; one brother, Nicholas Trahan of New Orleans; two sisters, Anna Belle Champagne and Anna Mae Norris, both of New Iberia; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Desire' and Ella Lange Trahan; an infant daughter, Wendy Babineaux; her stepfather, Alcide Boutte; two brothers, John Trahan and Joseph Trahan; and five sisters, Enith LeBlanc , Elda Morvant, Edna Comeaux, Marie Trahan and Edith Delahoussaye.

Pallbearers will be Teddy J. Sonnier, Troy A. Sonnier, Cy J. Migues, Danny P. Migues, Elverse J. Babineaux Jr., Dr. Shannon Gonsoulin and Allen L. "Joey" Prados II.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd J. Sonnier, Skye Sonnier, Chase Sonnier, Chad Babineaux, Shane Babineaux, Dustin Babineaux, Marcus Migues and Audie Prados.

The Evangeline Funeral Home Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

Norman G. Landry

LYDIA - Services for Norman Glynn Landry, 62, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with the Rev. Manny Fernandez officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 1-10 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary at David Mortuary, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services.

A resident of New Iberia, Mr. Landry died at 7:03 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997, at his residence.

He was a supervisor for Advance Polymer Systems of Lafayette for seven years. Before that he worked for Morton Chemical at Weeks Island for 34 years. Mr. Landry was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, past member of Iberia Receation Board, an organizer for many years of the Weeks Island Little League and president of the Morton Weeks Federal Credit Union.

Mr. Landry is survived by his wife, Mary Lasseigne Landry of New Iberia; four sons, Gerry Landry of Jeanerette, Brent Landry, Ron Landry and Stephen G. Landry, all of New Iberia; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Stacie) Landry Burke and Mrs. Michael (Jennifer) Landry Zagar, both of New Iberia; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Aline Lancon Landry Sr.; one brother, W.J. Landry Jr.; and his stepmother, Louise Lancon Landry.

Pallbearers will be Gerry Landry, Albert Burke, Brent Landry, Ron Landry, Stephen G. Landry and Michael Zagar.

Honorary pallbearers will be Denise Broussard, Ernest Freyou, Lisa Freyou, Gene Hebert, Charles Lancon, Gerrit Landry, Trent Landry, Kyle Meche, Tony Melancon, Hart Schwarenbach and Zane Zagar.

The David Mortuary of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
